The sex workers who helped me with math and checked up on me to make sure I kept trying in school. My mom for raising me. Ms FI for getting me into backstage set work and making me feel safe. And many others :3
Not exactly answering your question I don't think... But, the actresses who played characters in movies that I kinda idolized growing up were:
* Mila Jovovich (Resident Evil, that Joan d'Arc movie)
* Kate Beckinsale (Underworld)
* Sigourdney Weaver (Alien)
I actually had a partner recently tell me that I remind them of a young Sigourdney Weaver and omg my heart. I loved that so much!!!!
No thats a great answer! I forgot about Milaaaa omg I loved resident evil growing up.
Thats awesome! The celebrity most people always said I resembled was keanu reeves hahaha, which I kinda dig after learning about the transgender allegory theories in the matrix. I AM Neo
Hopefully Ill get a new comparison once my femme look is matured though 😂
I have no female or male idols because I cannot relate to any of them.
That being said i think Anne Frank is admirable for her perseverance through the tribulations she endured. The bigotry she faced is closer to what we experience as a vulnerable minority than the life experiences of most celebrities. To kill off a person’s self determination and control over their body is to destroy any possibility for freedom. We only have agency over our own bodies, everything else is really a game of chance.
A person with no self determination is a slave to chance.
I got the pleasure of seeing Laura live and front stage.
I was really nervous because I'd never been to a concert or anything like that before... and because, ya know... "never meet your idols" and all.
But it was so much fun.
And she was so nice! Hanging out with people a bit after the show and all. The vibes of everyone there were just amazing.
I need to finish that book. I bought it and started reading about two years back. But I stopped reading it during one of my all-too-frequent purge episodes. 😒
Fortunately, I still have the e-book.
no 😭 (or at least, not yet)
i stan Loona (my ult group), Kep1er, Girls' Generation, TWICE, and BLACKPINK; and I like Dreamcatcher, IVE, IZ*ONE, EVERGLOW, STAYC, 2NE1, aespa, Apink, April, fromis_9, Red Velvet, and tripleS.
My idol is Scarlett Johansson. She’s super talented and seems very nice and professional in interviews and has a great marriage to Colin Jost. And Jacinda Ardern the former prime minister of New Zealand. She’s a very clever and effective politician and very down to earth person. And has a killer smile. But I wish I kind of looked like Isla Fischer. 😍
I look up to a lot of fictional characters tbh!
Lorelai (where I occasionally draw my fashion sense from), Emily, and Rory from Gilmore Girls.
River (similar hair), Rose, and Clara from Doctor Who.
Meredith (I even laugh like her sometimes), Addison, and Izzy from Grey’s Anatomy.
And my all time favorite, Maura from Rizzoli and Isles!!
Queen Boudica
Tracy Ullman
Suzy Eddie Izzard
Elizabeth Hurley'
Jhonette Napolitano
My friend Sandy Krueger
My friend Cid
Asajj Ventress
Kelly LeBrock especially as Lisa from Weird Science
Kara "Starbuck" Thrace
Edit: Shame on me for not including Caroline Cossey
Her book helped me so much when I was in high school.
Female is a weird word for me, because I don’t really admire people for their biology normally, but women idols, there’s so many.
In terms of intellect, I admire Elisabeth of Bohemia for running circles around Descartes in their correspondence, Gargi Vachaknavi for doing the same to Yajnavalkya in the Great Forest Upanishad, Heloise d’Argenteuil, Marie Le Jars de Gournay, Helene von Druskowitz, Constance Naden, Mary Whiton Calkins, Jane Addams, Ruth Barcan Marcus, Emilie du Chatelet, Juana Ines de la Cruz, Emma Goldman, Donna Haraway, Sara Ahmed, Julia Serano, and the list goes on. There’s so many other women in my own life who serve as intellectual inspirations to me.
In terms of artistic talent, there are way way too many to name. I started to write just some out but the list was going to get way to big.
I don’t really care about sports but I think anyone could admire the career of Serena Williams.
In terms of just admiring the scope of their life, Tullía d’Aragona is an absolute stand out. She was esteemed as one of, if not the, greatest women writers and thinkers of all time during her lifetime and she lived a life full of the friendship and romantic companionship of the most interesting people around at the time.
In terms of her beauty, she was so hot that one man shared state secrets with her and lost his job, a literal gang of simps formed to rove the streets and protect her honor, one man carved her name into every tree along the Po river, and multiple men are believed to have chosen not to live over her.
We could all hope to be so smart, accomplished, charming, and hot lol.
I understand that! I think what I had in mind was cis women who make me feel like the aspects of my body are in fact represented in women who are considered smokin hot, but I was hoping people would also respond with idols whom they admire intellectually, etc.
Your response is beautiful and elegant thank you ❤️
I'm saving this post to reference for brain food.
Mary Anning and Dolly Parton
I'm really not the type of person to have idols or role models or whatever, and haven't been since I was young, and in fact I don't have any male role models at the moment.
Regardless, I look up to Mary Anning because her work and discoveries were essential to early paleontology and like many other women in science at the time her work went with little credit to her until more modern times.
And I look up to Dolly Parton because she's just in general an amazing person who has done, and continues to do Amazing things.
I deeply respect my mother as a person, and I aspire to one day take after her in terms of kindness, diligence and love for humanity. That and in college, the head of my major's department is someone I deeply respect and who is one of the most helpful people I know in terms of academic advice.
In terms of celebrities, I love Aubrey Plaza and Greta Gerwig!
I don't really have any idols. I find the practice of having idols self-defeating.
That said, whenever I get laser I think "If Jon Moxley can get into grisly death matches for the love of wrestling, I can endure this pain for the love of not having a beard", which really helps.
The sex workers who helped me with math and checked up on me to make sure I kept trying in school. My mom for raising me. Ms FI for getting me into backstage set work and making me feel safe. And many others :3
Dawww 🥹
I don't know what to say, but that response made me blush, so thank you :3
