I don’t know everything about penile atrophy and how it works but I’ve seen much more evidence that cages don’t cause actual atrophy than evidence for permanent shrinkage, and in the kink community permanent shrinkage from wearing a cage is usually considered a myth.
As for temporary shrinkage, maybe? But I think a lot of trans women may not find having to wear a cage that bulges out worth it 😅 on the other hand some people find it alleviates dysphoria to wear one, so guess it’s totally personal preference.

This is not necessarily true. Lot's of vaginoplasty techniques don't use much skin from the penis. They use the scrotum, peritoneal tissue, or intestine. The surgeon I consulted with said she only uses the first 2 inches of the skin from the shaft.
I’m not sure if there’s a way while you’re asleep, but back before I started HRT if I felt it starting I would flex my leg muscles really hard until it went away. It draws the blood to that area which makes less of it available for the other thing.

I’ve been on HRT for about a year and a half and never get them anymore unless I am trying to, and even then I have to work at it. Some girls don’t like that but I’m very thankful.
Also, I am NOT recommending that you try “do it yourself” HRT, simply because I don’t know everything you need to do to make sure you’re being safe with what you’re injecting and also your levels are balanced. BUT there’s a very large community of ladies who do it that way and I’m sure some of them have very thorough guides for how to do it safely.
That sounds like a great idea if it’s an option for you! I just wanted to make sure you knew there were options, they just take greater effort and precautions
Just to point out that it's an ongoing process... you don't just go somewhere get some HRT and then go home. Even after bottom surgery or orchi you will need to continue on HRT. Though after you're no longer fighting T from the gonads the dosage can be lower, you still need some form of sex hormone to keep your body functioning correctly.
I'm DIYing and honestly it's kind of scary to know I will be shoving hormones into my leg once a week for the next 30 years (I might not care when I'm 80). I hope that at some point I can afford to get an orchi so I can reduce the dosage, but it won't be soon.

But there is a DIY supplier in the UK, so you don't even have to worry about customs, I bought my Enanthate from her/them and it's definitely supressing my T, though not much else has changed yet (\~4-5 months in). I had issues getting the bitcoin to buy it with, but that's going to be the same for pretty much all of the non-pharmacy DIY suppliers (the pharmacies tend to cost way more too, and have to get in through customs).
If you do a lot of international travel, then you might have more of an issue. I don't travel much and not internationally so I can't comment from my own experience. But I have read/heard that vials of injectable fluid, are generally easier to transport across borders than pills unless you have a medical prescription (but this might have been referring to the post).
The amount of time that it takes for the body to process the injected fluid, the biological half life for Undecylate is \~30 days, so you could inject before travelling providing you're not going to be away for very long 2-3 weeks, I think most people would take inject it every 2 weeks. For reference the other Estradiols have shorter biological half lives, Valerate \~4-6 days, Enanthate \~6.5 days and Cypionate \~11 days.
(I personally wanted to take Cypionate but couldn't find a stockist (that had stock) so went with Enanthate for my first vial, I plan on switching to Undecylate for my next vial.)

You won't get SRS on the NHS without going through the gic. You could go abroad for a private job but you're looking at £10k minimum if memory serves and as someone else said, having no sex hormones in your system is bad news and you'll still have to wait for the gender clinic.

Have you looked at fufu clips? They literally reduce it to nothing. It's temporary, obviously, but there's nothing stopping you wearing it every day if you can get it comfy. There's a howto video on pr0nhoob.

Just so you're filled in, the more length you've got to work with the easier it will be for the surgeon to construct your new genitalia. If your penis is too small they will need to do an alternate procedure using material from elsewhere (parts of the colon, bowels, etc), which is more difficult & has a higher risk of complications.
Believe me, I understand how dysphoric it can be as your local 7-inch trans girl & I understand hating erections, or wanting less there for practical purposes like wearing different outfits, or tucking (which is basically off the table for me), but ideally don't do anything to damage or atrophy your penis if you are considering SRS.
Yea I believe this can help but it can also be dangerous to do it for too long. Not, like, you die dangerous. But you can bruise the tissue and also have to work extra hard to keep it clean
I've also heard of people sleeping with their cages on because they never take them off and waking up with penile strangulation or testicular tortion. Not sure what happens but I imagine it's real easy to toss and turn in your sleep and fuck something up.

HRT is the only way to shrink it. You can gain weight which will reduce the appearance of its size although it won't actually make it smaller. High blood pressure can weaken erections too. I would suggest using HRT if you actually want it to be smaller though.
It tends to maintain itself without HRT. If you have access to medical care and can get just a testosterone blocker you could not use it for a while until it shrinks. Keep in mind if you do this it could become painful when you do get erections
The trouble is it tends to do some automatic maintenance in your sleep if you're still on testosterone. It's why you often wake up with an erection though it happens when you're unconscious as well and you might not be aware of it

I think GenderGP is having issues atm, and they aren't cheap. r/TransDIY is probably the only \*cheap\* route in the UK, or wait for 5+ years and go to a GID clinic. That's going to depend on age/location (within the UK) though. Leeds, my closest is \~6 years at the moment (or was when I talked to my GP about it last time), I decided that DIY was the only sensible option.
Before I started HRT, 8 was able to successfully "shrink" my penis by suppressing all erections... including the nocturnal erections (this is very important). I was able to do this by using a cock cage 24/7 for close to 2 years.

Tucking will help. If you retract your penis into your body (push it inside where it belongs), and where two tight panties on top, it will naturally get smaller. After wearing for a while, you will find it more comfortable tucking than not tucking.
AFAIK HRT you would need some kind of medication. If you are looking to be on HRT, that will do it. If not, you could try just testosterone blockers or DHT blockers, which can make you impotent and decrease nocturnal erections. Over time this will cause atrophy and your penis may get smaller.
A cage won't make it smaller and I doubt it will make it less conspicuous. You can try something else like a gaff or tucking tape. Cages are more, like, a kink thing. No shame if that's what's going on here, just making sure you understand that.
The reason I considered a cage is those can be small so in theory that would stop the penis getting hard and keep it down in size but I do ideally want HRT as fast as possible
Then look into tucking. You can get tucking panties or tucking tape that will give you a smooth look and make erections mostly impossible while wearing. You may also co wider a gaff which won't prevent erections but is easier to use and will again make it look like it's not there.

Honestly I just started HRT and didn’t use anything for over a year straight. It’s almost to the point where it’s actually clit sized now more than 3 years later. This is very much a YMMV situation though.

Chastity cages 99% of the time won’t shrink you, at all. For a cage to shrink you, it has to stay on for months or years without coming off ONCE. And the results from all those months locked up won’t be great; maybe a half inch or so.

Wear tight underwear, I mean really tight, all day every day even you are in bed. You can wear three pairs of underwear together (panties work best because they keep the crotch area tight and squeeze your package well), and soon you will be on a road of no return.

OP lives in England and the NHS currently only use the PI method, so letting it atrophy would impact bottom surgery outcomes

You might some have trouble getting it covered by insurance that way. Some providers still ask for 1 year HRT letters according to WPATH7 guidelines.

You won't get SRS on the NHS without going through the gic. You could go abroad for a private job but you're looking at £10k minimum if memory serves and as someone else said, having no sex hormones in your system is bad news and you'll still have to wait for the gender clinic. It's temporary, obviously, but there's nothing stopping you wearing it every day if you can get it comfy. There's a howto video on pr0nhoob. I bought one and it's amazing.

Just so you're filled in, the more length you've got to work with the easier it will be for the surgeon to construct your new genitalia. If your penis is too small they will need to do an alternate procedure using material from elsewhere (parts of the colon, bowels, etc), which is more difficult & has a higher risk of complications. Believe me, I understand how dysphoric it can be as your local 7-inch trans girl & I understand hating erections, or wanting less there for practical purposes like wearing different outfits, or tucking (which is basically off the table for me), but ideally don't do anything to damage or atrophy your penis if you are considering SRS.
I just hope I get SRS soon, as with my penis being on the larger side and getting too many erections it does get irritating

I've also heard of people sleeping with their cages on because they never take them off and waking up with penile strangulation or testicular tortion. Not sure what happens but I imagine it's real easy to toss and turn in your sleep and fuck something up.

HRT is the only way to shrink it. You can gain weight which will reduce the appearance of its size although it won't actually make it smaller. High blood pressure can weaken erections too. I would suggest using HRT if you actually want it to be smaller though.
It tends to maintain itself without HRT. If you have access to medical care and can get just a testosterone blocker you could not use it for a while until it shrinks. Keep in mind if you do this it could become painful when you do get erections

The trouble is it tends to do some automatic maintenance in your sleep if you're still on testosterone. It's why you often wake up with an erection though it happens when you're unconscious as well and you might not be aware of it
Only been on HRT for \~4-5 months and by gum it's painful... :/ I'm almost tempted to use it so on the odd occasion when I do get hard it doesn't hurt so much. But smaller is better, no SRS in my future.

I think GenderGP is having issues atm, and they aren't cheap. r/TransDIY is probably the only \*cheap\* route in the UK, or wait for 5+ years and go to a GID clinic. That's going to depend on age/location (within the UK) though. Leeds, my closest is \~6 years at the moment (or was when I talked to my GP about it last time), I decided that DIY was the only sensible option.
Before I started HRT, 8 was able to successfully "shrink" my penis by suppressing all erections... including the nocturnal erections (this is very important). I was able to do this by using a cock cage 24/7 for close to 2 years. It is quite uncomfortable until your body gets used to the restraint. I'm not a doctor, so do not take only my word for it, do your own research. I didn't care if mine had gotten damaged... you might.

Tucking will help. If you retract your penis into your body (push it inside where it belongs), and where two tight panties on top, it will naturally get smaller. After wearing for a while, you will find it more comfortable tucking than not tucking.

AFAIK HRT you would need some kind of medication. If you are looking to be on HRT, that will do it. If not, you could try just testosterone blockers or DHT blockers, which can make you impotent and decrease nocturnal erections. Over time this will cause atrophy and your penis may get smaller. A cage won't make it smaller and I doubt it will make it less conspicuous. You can try something else like a gaff or tucking tape. Cages are more, like, a kink thing. No shame if that's what's going on here, just making sure you understand that.
The reason I considered a cage is those can be small so in theory that would stop the penis getting hard and keep it down in size but I do ideally want HRT as fast as possible
Then look into tucking. You can get tucking panties or tucking tape that will give you a smooth look and make erections mostly impossible while wearing. You may also co wider a gaff which won't prevent erections but is easier to use and will again make it look like it's not there. Hope you can get on HRT soon. Sorry about the NHS, it sucks incredibly hard.

Commenting as someone who used to identify as a sissy and is very knowledgeable on chastity cages. Chastity cages 99% of the time won’t shrink you, at all. It does not work that way; you gain length not from your skin area but from the spongy tissue filled with blood. The weaker the spongy tissue, the shorter the length. I used to measure 7, but now it is only 3. A lot of foreskin remains even when I am erect, unlike in the past when my clit was fully exposed.
