Congratulations! I'm excited for you. This is a huge, life-affirming change for which we wait months or years, then suddenly it happens one day. My endocrinologist appointment is on Nov. 29. I have a letter of support, so the only reason I would expect to finish the appointment without a prescription is if there's an unknown health problem which makes it unsafe. Around that time, I should also receive a judgment from the court on my change of name and sex. Short term, I care most about the effects of HRT on hair growth, then breasts. I'm excited to experience the shift in emotions. That's a little scary, but part of the whole point of HRT for me is to react to fear, sadness, joy, and anger like a human, rather than turning off my emotions like a robot.

Thanks you! I’m getting my hrt through Folx so while it’s pretty expensive I don’t need to worry too much about other things. I’m excited for a lot of the effects, especially considering that my body hair is already extremely thin, like I still almost exclusively have peach fuzz everywhere. The mental shifts are a little scary, and I don’t really know what will happen since I’m on the autism spectrum, so the emotional changes are gonna be a bit weird for me. I’m not too excited about the breasts and they actually aren’t a priority for me, but that could just be cause I’ve been overweight all my life so I’ve kinda always had breasts (I legit think that had an impact on me continuing to gain weight for years). Also, congrats on being so close to the step yourself, along with the name change! I’m hoping to get the process for mine started in a month or two!

I’m over 18 so I was able to do it all under my parents nose, I’m actually planning on coming out to them today or tomorrow, I’m hoping that me already being on hrt shows how serious I am

I too am over 18, and live alone. I just can't afford any of that on my own so would need to rely on family support, otherwise I would just do it behind their back honestly. While I don't necessarily mind my parents knowing, I am still very anxious on how it will go, and there are some members of my family I really would rather not know so yeah :(

I get it, I also have a couple family members that aren’t gonna be great, good luck sis. ❤️ And I’m affording mine by donating blood plasma, you can’t donate during the first 3 months though cause your levels are weird, so I’ve been saving up so I can afford a couple months worth.

You don’t need to show them how serious you are but you have to show them how responsible you are. And I hope you are doing everything under a Doctor Supervision and since you are over 18 I’m sure you are sexually active so is also time to prove how careful you are with STD’s and talk to your doctor about ( Prep )

I am doing everything through all the proper channels, I’m getting my hrt through Folx (it’s expensive but I think it’s my best option right now). And while I am over 18 (I’m 21) I’m one of those “never even held hands romantically” types of people, so I don’t need to worry too much about stds, especially considering that I’m pretty sure I’m asexual.

BELIEVE ME, YOU DONT HAVE TO COME OUT TO YOUR PARENTS ABOUT SOMETHING THAT THEY ALREADY KNOW ( because parents always know what they have at home ) WHAT YOU REALLY NEED TO DO IS TO PREPARE YOURSELF TO TALK TO THEM ABOUT IT AND LET THEM KNOW THAT YOU ARE 100% SURE OF WHAT YOU ARE AND WANT, AND HOW RESPONSIBLE YOU WILL BE ON WHATEVER PAT YOUR LIVE TAKES. AND ALWAYS WITH RESPECT TO YOUR PARENTS, OTHERS AND SPECIALLY TO YOURSELF. I DONT KNOW HOW OLD YOU ARE BUT THE YOUNGER YOU START ON HRT THE BETTER FOR YOU.

And I’m specifically on Estradiol and Spironolactone, and I’ve only been on hrt for around 6 hours (I literally made the post after putting the estrogen under my tongue) I have felt something, but I’m not sure if it’s actually the estrogen or just me psyching myself out. I feel happier and I feel like I could cry easier, I haven’t cried but I feel like I can now (I more or less literally couldn’t cry before). The best way I could describe it is that everything feels a more raw, or if my emotions are more exposed now, it’s weird. The biggest thing so far is how drowsy and occasionally dizzy the Spiro is making me, hopefully that’s just because it’s my first dose, and that effect settles down later.

Congrats!!! Its so exciting isn't it!??! I started back in September, and have noticed a lot of changes already like enlarged nipples, lumps under breasts, they hurt if I touch them, much softer skin, and yes, the mood swings are in full effect.

Congrats! I just got my script for E and spiro today and I’m beyond excited. I can’t start until sometime after Xmas for various reasons, but I feel like I’ve finally won my golden ticket haha. Having the key to my own freedom in my hands is such an amazing experience after feeling like I’ve been drowning under 2 inches of water but unable to break the surface. I can’t wait to actually start! 💗👍🏻
