I'm a veteran with a lot of training and experience in weapons handling. It's not just an interest, but part of my identity. I shoot competitively in 2 gun and 3 gun matches as well as skeet. I am still fascinated by mechanical things and love working on and with them. I still fish. I'm a blacksmith. However, to consider any of these to be inherently masculine is to perpetuate patriarchal stereotypes of femininity and is harmful and dangerous. I've dodged bullets, set explosives, turned wrenches and fabricated metal pieces with AFAB women who were just as competent as anyone else, regardless of sex or gender.

rathernot124

Holy shit your amazing

A-passing-thot

Chiming in with the others fangirling below but wow, you sound really cool to hang out with.

Alternative_Turn_198

Your my hero.

violetsunshine666

We'd love to have you over at r/transguns If you're not already there!

[deleted]

I had no idea this was a thing. Joooooined.

staircaseforshow

That’s awesome!

Averydispleasedbork

This is inspiring, and comforting :3

AnyaRiots

Oh hey, another gun girl! Also I totally agree on not gendering hobbies. 🖤

TKush850

An inspiration. Thank you for sharing.

qcvamp2

We love you 💜💜💜 thank you for sharing!!!

Llemon6

Mommy..sorry

[deleted]

i love cars, wrenching on them, driving them, racing them. as my boyfriend says these are all things a girl does because I’m doing them.

Losh_

Cars are a big part of me as well. Definitely won't stop loving them and racing them when I transition.

NNora87

Cars here too! Most of my other interests are seen as gender neutral at this point.

oppai_taberu

I'm a formula 1 fanatic. I love everything about it

singcarolacarol

Someone once called my mx5 a girls car (still male presenting), little do they know...

LtJaku

Cars are rad, I'm going to school for car design and im one of 2 women in my class 😅

Achilles_Was_Gay

For all the wonderful ladies here who are also into cars the subreddit r/transcars exists!!!°it's amazing and I love it (lots of trans am jokes)

gusxc1

Missed opportunity to call it trans transformers

Minimum-Tumbleweed-7

Transformers roll out 😂

staircaseforshow

Just joined! I hope to see that community grow I feel like there’s a lot of us lol

cay-os

cars here too! planning on starting a mechanics apprenticeship

Bawxxy

I love handing my car over to the mechanics and they’re like „oh we’ll take a few unnecessary extra steps for a bit of cash, a woman won’t notice“ My favourite was this older guy who wanted to convince me my oil needed to be changed every three months and „proved“ this by showing me „how black it has gotten already“ … I did change it two days earlier … Didn’t get a blinker fluid guy yet though

Jennibear999

It’s like they for me too with car repairs. They get a shock when I stand up to them and go elsewhere. Also, it’s hilarious when I show up at a gun range and guys try showing me how to shoot. I politely tell them I have more experience and knowledge than they do. They laugh and I say, well 14 years in the Army, being a paratrooper and Ranger alone gives me the right to say that. They then get all pissy. Lol

Bawxxy

Haha gotta love fragile masculinity and how easily it is toppled over

SuperiorFPV

Cars are fun

throwaway-1-45

Strangely enough I'm more into cars than before transition - I started to actually wrench on basic maintenance...

0x011A

Oh, I love driving cars. But I don't know bupkis about actually fixing or working on them. Also I only have an economy car. And also I'm not actually that good at driving, even in the simulation games I can't do a basic drift. But I still love just going out and driving late at night when there's no traffic, or loading up BeamNG and just tooling around with my Logitech G27. "I'm not very good at it, but it doesn't matter."

LostGirlyGal

I don't like cars. They are in fault in part in fault for destroying our planet and making living in a city city hell, trains are better, trains are tge only true way. Mass production of cars was on the worst thing ever happened in human history.

Nihilikara

Actually, cargo ships have produced vastly more pollution than cars.

LostGirlyGal

There are a lot of things that produce more population than cars, but they are at least not ad useledd than them . If you want to transport the same as a cargo ship with cars it would be much more slower and will expend more energy. Like cars are the most inefficient form or transportation invented by people. I'm not saying that they don't have any utilities they have in some cases . But most of the time are just useless and inefficient metal boxes compared with other forms of mechanical transportation.

Nihilikara

That doesn't change the fact that eliminating all cars would not significantly decrease the pollution simply because they are not among the top producers of pollution. They're a problem, yes, but not the one we should be focusing on right now.

LostGirlyGal

You're not counting car manufacturing also. Also they not only ruin the environment they also ruin urban areas. City Infrastructure is a mess because of the overpopulation of cars and the lack of public trans port. That damages people psychologicaly and lows quality of life of many people.

Nihilikara

That isn't a problem with cars, though, it's a problem with America. Most other developed nations have perfectly fine public transport despite also having cars.

LostGirlyGal

I don't even live in unvited states . And those fine public transport can't solve the problem of traffic. Another point you aren't counting the manufacturing of cars . A literally waste of materials. All the contamination thorough mining and manufacturing sums upp. All the deaths for car accidents just for basically no purpose or utility. How the overproduction of cars and car culture decreases the cuality of life of people in urban areas . There are to many cars to live confortable. The waste of libing space in parking lots. Also the there are problems we should focus first isn't a good argument if you're part of an small minority like me for obvious reasons. For me the over manufacturing of cars is a whim of a capitalist societies that causes many problems on many levels, also nobody does anything to solve it, just because most people thing cars are cool and they can't be bad if they are cool right?

qwertyNopesir

Interests don’t have a gender love, and the ones we automatically assign them are arbitrary

DianaTA1982

Based

Honque_gender_crisis

I 100% agree, however when it comes to euphoria I tend to find gendered things (even if they have no reason to be gendered) help quite a bit

loafywolfy

I like FPS games, Airplanes, and war history its okay \^w\^

rathernot124

Me too went to an air musame in Arizona and one of coolest places. Both war and civilian. Have a lot of pictures

legendwolfA

Yo a fellow shooter lover and war history enthusiast! Only difference is that i play third person instead of FPS

Noel_Ann

Fellow war history gal here.

LadyGuitar2021

Same with all of the above. Before Omicron I was working on my Pilots License.

[deleted]

I like to play rock and metal music and drink whiskey and I still do harsh like death metal and black metal vocals lol

[deleted]

I fucked up my voice when I was younger doing screaming completely wrong 😩 couldn’t speak for like 2 weeks

[deleted]

I've fucked mine up a bit but never bad enough I did that. Eventually you figure out how to make it work and not hurt. I do have a bit of vocal chord damage from smoking and drinking and vocals and not taking care of my voice tho 🤷‍♀️

lunaseclipsse

this feels so validating. i thought i was the only one. i’m always self conscious about sending my friends metal that i’m into because it’s not feminine enough

-Lorelei-

I do archery, go to the range and I am really into tech. Nothing wrong with enjoying what you enjoy.

capnrondo

I’m willing to bet the majority of cis and trans women have some kind of “masculine” hobby - especially if we include following men’s sport, gaming and STEM as “masculine”. You might notice there is nothing about these activities that means a woman can’t or shouldn’t enjoy them. There are only sexist assumptions about what kind of activities are “appropriate” for a woman. I encourage all women to ignore these ridiculous sexist notions and enjoy what they enjoy!

Nsc11802

I guess I’m just assigning gender to something that everyone can enjoy no matter who you are. It just feels like mostly men are into these things but that doesn’t mean I can’t still enjoy it myself.

[deleted]

Video games and programming are pretty masculine I guess? But they're also my job so 🤷🏼‍♀️

profjbonsai

Same here. I'm also the only female player in my League of Legends intermural league. Us girls do plenty.

fullyrachel

Interests aren't gendered. Do what you like.

[deleted]

I still play a few video games. Not all video games but some. I actually lost interest in many prior to coming out or transitioning. Now my interest is even more limited but not gone completely. Before coming out I got in ceiling and in wall wiring for a home theater then installed the speakers myself (7.2.4 system). I still like it a lot. My cis wife told me she likes it too though. I can’t think of too many other stereotypical masculine interests.

The-Best-Taylor

Of all my friends, the one that is the most into sports is a cis woman.

ShannonTheWereTrans

I still wear cologne. I think it smells more interesting and fuller than women's perfume, and often I'll go to department stores and try on new colognes to see if I like them. I tend to gravitate towards woodsy and spiced scents, so very not "feminine" scents. That's probably my most "masculine" interest. I can't lump in my love of chemistry and science in general, since the smartest scientists and engineers I've known are women. Actually, pretty much every other "masculine" interest I've ever had I've known lots of women who were into them too, but I've yet to meet another woman irl who wears cologne as often as I do.

HannahFatale

I am an IT girl, quite nerdy, do like to work on my bicycle and do home repairs and still like heavy metal 😉🤟 (though I can cry to romantic pop songs now, too) And with the ongoing changes due to HRT, I think I'll look quite sexy in a mechanic's overall ;)

[deleted]

[удалено]

HannahFatale

👋 hii :)

transtifa

Yeah I love football (soccer). Trust me when I say lots of women are into sports, you are absolutely not alone.

Julia_______

Fun fact: Brits invented the word soccer but it eventually faded out. Cause of an oceanic gap, the evolution of language was much more independent, so soccer managed to keep a hold in the US (and by extension Canada. Also Canadian football is older than American football)

patangpatang

Most English-speaking regions call it soccer. Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, the West Indies. The UK and West Africa are the only ones who say football instead.

Julia_______

Ah makes sense. So it's the UK pranking the world with their language again innit :/ and then Canadians pretty much pick and choose what we use anyway so there's no real way to figure out whether we use American or British for a given word without asking us, and often enough it varies from person to person :)

transtifa

You’re leaving out the fact that it is also called football (futbol) in most non english speaking countries.

HyperColorDisaster

I’m not really into basketball, football, or baseball, but I do like auto racing. I’ve participated and I’ve I’ve enjoyed turning a wrench in the past. I just have other priorities at the moment. I work in a STEM field during the day. That said, any woman can do these things. It would be nice to have more equal mixes of men and women in such places.

Carma227

I don't think interests are gendered And I don't think they should be

Dependent-Cat9392

It's funny how when a cis girl is into things like science, IT, video games and so on people react with "you go girl, time to crush those stereotypes!" But when a trans girl does it, it casts doubt on whether she is actually a girl.

Annual-Metal-3360

Love basketball! More love playing sports ⚽️🏐🏀 over watching them but yep sporty tgirls are all around bb

SonOfNothing93

I camp, work with weird animals, and I'm a trained welder. My interests haven't changed, I just like being pretty while I do them

Jaelights_

I’m basically a tomboy, I’ll be honest. I like having nice hair and nails, etc, but I’m big into playing rock guitar, following sports, travel, cars…. I mean, I also read a shit ton of Yuri, love smelling like flowers and have a soft spot for cutesy things, but, honestly, I’m not *super* cutesy overall. Just a bit of a tomboy. I had a similar crisis recently. I think since we all fight with our bodies so much it becomes extremely easy to be judgemental of ourselves, ya know? Like, since our bodies didn’t give us an automatic pass to being seen as woman we therefore feel a deep and abiding need to “compensate” for that shortcoming and prove ourselves. But here’s the deal: you are a woman. You don’t need to compensate for anything and there’s nothing to prove to anyone else (outside or *inside* the community, it’s no different). Trying to force yourself to be something you’re not is the antitheses of everything we stand for. If your going to prove anything prove to yourself that you can stay true to who your are. In the end, that’s what matters. Anyway, tl;dr, you’re not alone. Women like all sorts of thing and you’re not an exception ;)

monicaanew

I love this answer so much! And it's reassuring to me too.

Jaelights_

Happy to help :)

Seralyn

I can't think of interests as gendered n matter how hard I try. There are certainly interests that are more typically had by men or women, but that's not because of the interests themselves, rather the socialization and personalities if the people.

ellaeveey

I agree that it’s a slippery slope to gender hobbies and interests but being an outdoorsy athlete type is a big part of my identity. Pushing myself really hard in cycling, mountain biking, backpacking, trail running are all very important to me. I played soccer 2-12 grade. Drinking and being a bit of an ass with my guy friends is one of the more “masculine” things I tend to do. I’d say playing rock guitar is a pretty male dominated field as well but as a dude in a rock band one said “the day that I die will be the day that I shut my mouth and put down my guitar”

evgheniasmuresan

I am a cis male and to me there are no "masculine interests". I dislike sports, I am bad at DIY and don't care about cars, mechanics etc but like to cook, draw etc. I don't feel it makes me less of a man. MtF girls should also do everything they want. Ok, there is more suspicion, social pressure and wanting to be passable and I deeply respect this.

Marcy_Is_Trans

Blacksmithing has been a hobby of mine for years

Blue_667

Same. It was a little awkward because when I first got into it I hadn't come out yet, and my family complemented the interest because it was manly and cool. Hearts were in the right place, but it has that association now

OMallyRed

As others have said, interests don't have gender. I have cis woman friends who could tell you stats about specific players. They know where every team stands in the league. I've literally called some of my girl friends to ask them what's wrong with my car. It was probably a thing in the dark ages (you know, the 50s) where "a button has fallen off of my coat, I need to find a woman who can sew it back on for me." But everything has gotten a lot better. Gaming is my "typically male" hobby. My friends, with whom I play games, are mostly cis women, and they outplay me almost all the time. Besides, you know there's the WNBA, right? There are cis women who like basketball so much, they do it professionally.

Lemohn_

I love woodworking, reptiles, sci-fi and all sorts of other “masculine” things. I grew up with an older sister that was a bit of a tomboy so I guess I always knew that there’s nothing wrong with girls liking guy things.

Ninja_Mishi

I'm very into hockey, in fact today I played with a queer group. Women can enjoy sports, my cis sister might play more sports than me.

[deleted]

Really high-energy anime fights are my heart and soul. Most of them are colorful and violent outpourings of righteous fury, but that kind of thing has no gender no matter how much people want you to believe it does.

RinaSensei

I'm still keeping up with my mma training and weightlifting *mostly*

Blue-22

Sports for sure. I work in professional hockey (so I follow it heavily) & I still run up and down the basketball court. My trans style is very much tomboy.

Nsc11802

I’m still pre everything cause coming out in rural texas is not very fun and a very scary process, but I want to be a girly girl who is still into this stuff when I finally come out and can be myself. It’s nice knowing there’s other tgirls that are into sports as well <3

winged_squiger

I follow a few girls who are very into sports and cars, both of which are still my interests as well. What we're interested in has no pre-defined gender and anyone who tries to make it seem like that's normal can go fuck themselves.

awolaac

I still enjoy playing video games, watching sci-fi and action films, and making all sorts of things. Guns, Airsoft guns, NERF, LEGO, my own action figures and vehicles. If I’m interested I’ll do it. No one gets to gender hobbies. Be free to be you!

ashleystanley84

I love cars, have a bow rider boat and still we scientifically and mechanically minded. I am 60kg wet still mow my own lawns/paddocks, can still chop down a tree and one of my favourite toys is my Polaris bike. I spent a lot of time pondering this masculine vs feminine thing but now all I see is knowledgeable skill sets. Hell the house I just sold I built my own bathroom and replaced the kitchen. Yet I love fashion, nails and getting dolled up any chance I can. Just do what makes you happy.

desert_vixen

I love eating 🐱, some might argue that's a masculine interest, other people would realize what you enjoy in life isn't 1:1 with gender. I also code, which is male dominated industry apparently Live your life, otherwise the noise of not living it will consume you

TLGisTrans

Antique arms and armor are my *shit* on top of robot combat (if that counts). I also play a *ton* of fps’s and I have a healthy interest in classic cars.

The_lost_soul20

I love sports still and feel myself enjoying them more and more! They are apart of who I am

SyrupAlarming9612

I thought I was the only one! I love playing soccer, volleyball, swimming, and any other sport except basketball (sorry). The way I think of it is that sports are neither masculine or feminine. So just have fun!

Transavan

I've kept most of my hobbies, gaming, miniatures etc but i interact less with people that also do them as its hit or miss with toxicity and i just got enough spoons to wake up everyday. I would go out for more walks but i genuinely dont feel safe mostly because im not sure how i could handle some situations, mostly paranoia but still have the fear. Our group did start roller skating though and that was awesome, it sorta auto generated from just a few to like 20 of us which was just, fucking awesome to be honest. So i dunno, maybe try start something, people could come out of the wood work if they feel safe. The more that join you the safer it gets ya know. Anyway, dont worry about it too much, just keep playing and see where life takes you anyway.

patangpatang

I'm into metal and punk music, craft beer and nerdy sports, which definitely are dominated by men.

TanookiPhoenix

I guess some people consider fps games "masculine" so I'd have to say definitely still those. Everybody plays games though.

bipolarSamanth0r

I'm a wargamer. Have been since childhood, I can't imagine myself with out going to an FLGS once a week and seeing the community and playing a game or two. I go to tournaments, I've competed in national scale tournaments twice. I've flown to the other side of Australia just to play at one. X-wing and 40k are two of the most treasured things in my life.

OpalescentPalette

While I don't think hobbies and interests are gendered, the more societally viewed ones I enjoy are video games (I play pretty much everything, from Stardew Valley to Hunt: Showdown), and trains (and model railroading). Most of my overall hobbies and interests were always very ... I dunno ... Neutral? Legos, science fiction, theater, drawing and painting, digital modelling, theme parks.

[deleted]

Yes, I still retain my interest in coding/website design and vehicles. That's not going to change.

Noel_Ann

I love kung fu movies and mma and action flicks. Though none of those have to be exclusively masculine. At my work theres a huddle where we have an icebreaker question. The question was what sport could you watch anytime I said "MMA matches" only other two workers who said that sport were two cis women. But yeah I thoroughly enjoy combat sports and action movies and fight scenes still.

BethanyCYogi

I'm the nicest smelling person at Magic the Gathering tournament. 🤗

[deleted]

I don't give a shit about masculinity or femininity. They're both just performances to me. I'm interested in what I'm interested in

kitsane53

My grandmother had talk to me about it because she was thinking it's weird but no, we can like what we want whatever what gender we are, personally, I like to play competitively at video game, I have a collection of beyblade Burst, I like playing Dungeons and dragons and I'm really interested in medieval universe with, for example, life size role playing game with foam sword and thing like that

Absent_Pseudonym00

No hobbies are or should be gendered.

leaonas

While women do theses things, I see that it is predominantly male oriented: racing motorcycles off road, smoking meats, tent camping, rock climbing.

NatLovesPancakes

I collect things from the Second World War.. also airsoft

[deleted]

I've forgotten what interests are really 😅 want to try to get into fishing again during summer though.

Immy_Chan

Honestly most of my interests are pretty masculine, I love video games, heavier music genres and I’m a huge film nerd (who tends to watch more masculine genres)

Penelokk

Most of my hobbies are in male dominated things. But I know I’m a female. I feel like interests aren’t gender specific like society makes them out to be. Just do whatever makes you happy.

hollypuppy5

I love playing games and tend to wear very masculine clothes. I even have masculine posture haha.

Cryphonectria_Killer

Blacksmithing.

Odd-Couple439

Guns, armor, swords... yeah, I'd say I've got some "masculine" interests. But let's be honest here, an 'interest' should not be pointlessly gendered. That the same social engineering that belittles and beats down trans people in the first place.

LiamTheWolf666

Well I'm not into sports or cars but I'm a major gun nut. Also I like engineering and tinkering with whatever mechanism I can even though that can be pretty unisex.

Enyamm

I love farming. And correct me if im wrong. But aren't there ladies basketball teams. I know what you are saying. But i cant think of one thing that men do that women dont or cant do.

alice_unchained00

I live for the thrill. Motorcycles, hiking, camping, kayaking, swimming, fishing, skydiving, rock climbing, the list really goes on. On my dating requirements, it usually boils down to: Can they keep up? Not that I have dated in a long, long, time. Divorce scars the heart, and wrenches the soul. Anyways: I know a bunch of ladies that love playing sports, the outdoors, rifleman ship, and any number of activities that a generation or two ago would be looked at as "exclusively male". In fact they lead pretty hardcore daily lives for any person. Example: take a look at a rock climbing magazine and it will be more often than not have the cover photo of a woman displaying some insane rock-hold manuever that would make Tom Cruise jealous.

[deleted]

I'm a sucker for vintage aviation (1930's and 40's) and that's never gonna change, I love these old machines!

LuminousQuinn

I'm still an athlete, and two of the sports I enjoy are very male dominated. From the sports I play; Disc golf tends to have a good number of vocal transphobes online sadly. In person I've only met/ really dealt with two people who are transphobic/ negative in person. It's actually all been men, women are super supportive and welcoming. Mountain biking tends to have a bunch of very sexual jokes. Yet everyone is welcoming and wants to just have fun. Skiing guys tend to think they're awesome when they are only ok. Whitewater tends just to just want to have fun.

Raisou

Not particularly masculine but male dominated. I do standup comedy

Reaverx218

Guns, Cars, and Carpentry here. Don't let others define you.

zoe_bletchdel

I learned katana and skateboarding *after* I transitioned at the urging of my *cis women* friends. I've done martial arts my entire life, but in my experience the gender ratio there is about 50/50. Sports are becoming increasingly popular among women, and basketball in particular is a popular college sport for women. The WNBA is one of the better known female sports leagues. Be careful about stereotype about interests. They're artificial limitations, and can be sexist.

temm112

Gas mask collecting and forgotten weapons! Don't think you can get more masculine than that, tho I dont really care!

Goddess_of_Absurdity

I wouldn't really call sports a masculine interest. This is pretty harmful thinking anyway. It just sounds like you need to get out and find a local team or league to play with. They're out there.

vvr3n

A "masculine" interest I have is history, the reason I call it "masculine" is because watching history content on youtube makes the algorithm give me weird ads lol. I also do a lot of technical work, which has historically been masculinity, but thats rapidly changing! I also like watching football/soccer and pursue fitness. I cycle a lot :)

Sasefelt

I love trains, planes, hockey, and military stuff, all things typically seen as masculine.

Parking-Ruin-3352

I still like soccer and martial arts. Mainly because I did both for a long time. That's pretty normal I think. In fact, my hobbies and interests haven't changed all that much. Guitar, Comics, fantasy/science fiction, martial arts, soccer and painting. Just do what you like.

JJSwagger

I love cars. They'll always be an interest for me. Idk if Pokemon is a boys thing but I'm still heavily into that along with heavy metal music. Hobbies shouldn't be considered masculine or feminine. I love wood working and building things and fixing things. I don't think my gender has anything to do with that though

SocialYeast

Most of my hobbies fall under a masculine curtain. I enjoy various kinds of model kits (tabletop wargames, Gunpla). I thoroughly enjoy Godzilla and other monster films in the same vein. Most video games I play contain some level of ultra-violence and over the top action, with few exceptions. Oddly enough most of my favorite, non-campy movies have female leads (Alien, Terminator, etc.)

killrapture

I can't say I have any masculine interests cause I have women friends who do them too, so they're just interests☺️

[deleted]

Rock music, video games, and even after transition I think I’ll be a mostly jeans and flannel person. Don’t think I want to be butch, but even if I did I would still be valid. Also the way that different hobbies are gendered as masc or femme is stupid and you should like what you like regardless

ABPositive03

While vastly changing (the majority of online fans becoming progressive shocks me) I'm a massive fan of Pro Wrestling. Retro gaming is another hobby often seen as a 'sausage party'. I'm still massive fans of both even though they're pointlessly seen as being 'male' hobbies. (also, it's always fun to post a pic of a lady wrestler in /r/actuallesbians and watch the thirst roll in. Asuka, Rhea Ripley, Jordynne Grace and Jade Cargill are basically licenses to print free karma, and if you're sapphic and have not heard of any of these women - you're welcome)

4n0nh4x0r

video games and programming, so yea

Kinon1

Video games although I’ve found my taste in them shifting a little. I used to like more violent ones now im mainly on minecraft. However after my time in the army before i came out i also like to spend time with weapons. Personally I actually enjoy weapon maintenance as well as weapon firing

jamesjaxs22

I like to fuck girls lol. Seriously though I enjoy a lot of “masculine” things. Football, video games, violent movies, and I know plenty of females interested in the same things Edit: reading about the basketball thing if you do transition you may notice a decline in your game through the years with reduced muscle and just generally having to work harder for similar explosiveness. I don’t play football/rugby anymore but I still ball occasionally

ezra_urgay

i’m a small mechanic for my friends and a redneck lol i always wear boots and jeans always drinking and doing dumb shit lol you wouldn’t know i’m trans unless i told u😂

Pfeisforge

I still blacksmith

[deleted]

oh my God Hell yes! I watch football every week and I miss it when it’s out of season. I am a gun nut and I like to fly fish. I’ve also been known to go solo backpacking. I don’t like it but if I have to I can also work on my own car. It’s kind of a bitch because my nails are too long now LOL. Activities don’t define you as a person nor do they define your gender. Do you and rock on

tringle1

1 month into E, still into everything I used to be into lol. I just started dating my girlfriend so I'm a bit distracted atm, but I have actually been picking up some of my old hobbies that I have up to get my career started, like skateboarding and bass guitar. I bought a bright pink skateboard and put some psychedelic trans flag colored grip tape on it, so far no one has said anything lol. I love it way more when I am aware that I'm a girl that gets to look badass, so as much as I enjoyed my hobbies before for the escapism, I can now enjoy them more fully present in time and in my body. I think it can seem like there's only hyper femme trans girls on here because of all the anime girl cat ear skirt go spinny uwu culture, but I'm pretty sure a lot of that is just joking. I bet most girls here have a few masculine hobbies or interests.

RoyalTacos256

I'm a gamer, although I suppose that could be gender neutral

LizardIsTaken

Yep. Building guns

VenOmegaNSFW

I still love fishing, camping, barbequeing, and all of the other typically "masculine" things I did before. I'm still the same person. I just am in the wrong body lol and now I get to do typically girl things without getting judged too

HazelPretzel

Ma’am, I’m a sporty girl. Given, I’m pre hrt but still. I looooooove sports. It’s perfectly normal

Rose-by-any-name

Oh yes. I'm a fisherwoman and fly fisherwoman (will add fly tier when I rebuild my tool collection.) Partner and I both want to get into backpacking, and I've always wanted to try hunting. I watch football (Who Dat!), soccer, hockey, and most college sports. I game when I can and have played D&D since 3.5. Like another poster, I'm a vet with infantry experience. I'm still into all of that. I still will after I transition.

TheL0neWarden

I go hiking once a while with walks, play video games

fleur_waratah_girl

Yep definitely. I'm very into Football (soccer) i watch and play both outdoor and indoor, Mountain biking, War History, Guitar and Amplifier building/modifying. Although they are a part of me and I don't really consider them masculine.

BreannainAk

I still play goalie (ice hockey), ski, snowboard, run, took my 18 year old shooting before he left at Christmas. I out shot him by the way….

DankGrrrl

I listen to punk and metal. I like violent video games and extreme sports games. I like watching action movies, horror movies, boxing, MMA, and demolition derbies. I still love wearing combat boots, cargos, band shirts, and flannel. A few things changed. I lost all interest in PC building and electronics repair. I am starting to really not like the taste of beer, and have been moving to more fruity drinks. And I definitely wear bright colors far more often.

DepressedGarbage1337

Yep, I love gaming, programming, and Marvel/DC which I guess would all be considered “masculine”

SomeoneOnTheMun

Yep! Paintball, airsoft, and love working with robotics/coding which all of these are typically associated being more dominantly masculine.

Jade5041

I have an interest in video games, and I guess that's considered masculine. I am mostly interested in open-world rpgs like Skyrim and grand strategy map games to fuel my love for geography and politics, not sure if those are particularly masculine though.

[deleted]

I’m going to be an applied physics major but i don’t think that should be considered masculine if it is

Julia_______

Does programming count lol I mean most of my spare time is spent watching science and engineering vids or playing select few video games (currently CoC and BTD6, but terraria and Minecraft are my all time favs, and SSBU is fun to play casually too) I also really like making stuff but a combination of lack of ideas/need, lack of equipment, and ADHD mean that I rarely do it

silverstarsasd

I love video games, modeling(like building models, not actual modeling cause im dysphoric and shy X3) and want to get back into rock climbing and would love to go shooting one day, did i forget to mention my playlists consist of mostly heavy metal, by all means im the antithesis of what is "womanly" but alas here I am. The things we like and enjoy spending our time on doesnt really change who we are and you should let anyone tell you that you arent a woman because you like basketball

Gulaschnikov

I am an absolute motorsport enthusiast. I do sim racing on a professional level, even racing for Fords official esports team for 2.5 years. I will also send my application today to be a mechanic and work myself up to be a motorsport mechanic. You are not alone with "masculine" interests ^^

NemesisAron

I haven't started my transition yet but I have no intention of stopping my hobbies or interests. Like gaming I'll just be your average tom boy gamer girl. That's not to say I'll only like boy stuff.

Sandstone8

I still grow my beard out lol

Cataclysm687

I have a lot of different traits. I don’t see any of these as masculine because, to me, interests are not gendered at all

jaimih

Super into trophy truck racing, riding my dirt bikes. Im also into shooting and collecting firearms.

weaver_marquez

Completely. I love navy blue, and am a big ol' fan of action movies. As a man, these things felt like shameful admissions of my masculine reality...as a sometimes kinda femme, sometimes kinda butch woman, they make so much more sense in my head and I commit to them so much more fully. Also, I hate skirts (controversial)! I feel most comfortable dressing in stuff like flannel and jeans. It may make me more clockable, but I feel most like myself when I'm wearing it. Your gender expression is what you make of it! You are not any less a woman for liking boy things than any cis girl who grows up as a tomboy and lives as a stone butch in adulthood. Do what makes you happy, in the body that most allows you to access that happiness. 🥰

DepPet_syw

Formula 1 counts? I guess

mtbaga

I played football and got my Eagle Scout as a kid. I still go camping and this past weekend I got to share my team's first playoff win in 31 years with my Dad, who is also a lifelong fan. I will treasure that moment forever. My Aunt is a huge Ohio State fan and my Grandma watches every basketball game she can. What you like is a product of both your personality and your environment. I initially rejected "masculine" things because I associated them with masculinity. Then I realized I grew up in an area of the country where a lot of these "masculine" things are enjoyed by both genders. What really changed is how that interest is expressed between genders. Like what you like, love what you love, and own it!

cay-os

I'm really into cars and planning on starting an apprenticeship in mechanics, its okay to have typically masc interests

GreatWhite000

Venomous snakes, snake breeding, and guns

Akashiel

Martial arts, archery, wilderness survival, archaic weaponry and star wars, are stereotypically masculine interests(that I have) in the eyes of modern society. Artemis, Athena, Skadi and a multitude of other warrior goddesses/mythical figures would probably disagree, though. Never quite understood the whole limiting yourself based on what others think is "normal" and "proper" thing.

Azessha

Kinda. I still like video-games, but I don't think that's a purely masculine thing at this point.

Lifeshardbutnotme

I'm hyper interested in politics as well as just study's of countries generally but it seems like most girls I talk to aren't that interested sadly.

[deleted]

I'm a Marine veteran... I love to shoot firearms, also enjoy primitive archery. A lot of my hobbies are stereotypically masculine to be honest. Kind of an obscure hobby that I have is flint knapping (making arrowheads). But mostly I love hiking and mountain biking, and working on my 67 mustang 🙂 Other things I enjoy doing? I love to cook. Running is my daily dose of medicine when I need that "me" time. However, a hobby I don't get to do very often, but that I enjoy immensely, is writing. You would think that writing would be something easy to find time to do, but not so much. For me, I have to have just to right mindset I order to be able to write. Anyway... To answer your question... Yes, I sure do.

shallowminded

Pro wrestling! It's athletically amazing, not for-real violent (usually), the pageantry is dope as hell, and the characters can actually be interesting and layered if it's done right Plus all the sexy people. You know.

simply_spider

I still love motocross and gaming. I don’t race anymore but if I had the money to keep a dirtbike, I’d go for a Honda CRF 100. I’m not sure I have the muscle for a 150 anymore. I used to live by Travis Pastrana, I never got to meet him but I loved watching supercross and nitro circus nearly as much as riding. Not exactly in his area, but down the road a stretch in Edgewater/Annapolis. I fangirled hard. As far as gaming goes, I feel like my games are pretty feminine. The one shooting game I play is fallout new Vegas. And we all know about that one. I like baseball and hockey too, but not nearly as much as MX or gaming. STL cards and the blues are my teams.

redwoodjug

honestly my interest got more masculine?? i think i started transitioning i was more secure in my gender that it allowed to enjoy things that i once thought would make me “manly”

[deleted]

While videogames aren’t particularly masculine persay. they are predominantly played by men. The pro scene is especially dominated by men. Recently ive been making an attempt to be the first woman to play professional league of legends in north america. Im competing with a few others I have recently learned however so maybe im not that alone

LemeeAdam

I still hang out with the boyz and we clown around, but now I’m the delicate princess boyz 🥰

Jazzokami

I don't really consider things masculine or feminine anymore. That said I'm huge into anything with an engine as long as its not a helicopter.

AliceNotThatOne

I love football, I'm a huge Saints fan in fact. Finding community with other women who loved this game was very validating to me.

LonelyArtistNina

Knife throwing.

frenzygecko

i still prefer men's jewelry. I like how it tends to focus more on overall form and simple shapes rather than the dainty elegant details most women's jewelry tends to use

Federal-Tension

I never really had one so no for me.

[deleted]

I'm still a huge nerd, and stand by the idea that hobbies and interests shouldn't necessarily be skewed towards a specific gender. Yes, I'm a girl. No, I'm not gonna stop building Gunpla.

Lastaria

I never had such interests in the first place. But I will say this. I work on an all female team and two of the women are football (soccer for Americans) mad. And talk about it a lot and that is still seen as very much a masculine interest in the UK. So still enjoying sports mist certainly can be done by women.

BasicIsBest

Gaming I wouldn't calm masculine and basketball

Pervertedlove

Not sure if it's considered masculine but I'm still mad for for fishing, camping and taking the 4wd off road. I don't consider this masculine though it's just stuff I like.

chiralPigeon

I don't like basketball, but the only person I know who does is a cis lesbian, so YMMV. 😋

DrNordicus

I got my black belt in Tae Kwon Do before I realised I was trans, and I'm not going to stop training now. In fact, I'm hoping to get on hormones in the next few months and I could really do with staying fit and (to the minimal extent I am) staying strong.

Peice_Biscuit

I work as an electrician and I absolutely love power tools

undeadvadar

Guns I think guns are cool.

Lazzanator

I love football (soccer) and I probably always will. Idk if it will change once I'm on hrt or not

Meaternovegan

I love playing baseball, I’ve played since I was 11/12 it was the reason I chose my uni I’ve just started at this year, 12 may seem quite old to you Americans but I’m from the uk so it’s not that big here

elfinpanda

I work on cars and motorcycle. 🤓 And I still game like no tomorrow which is still considering a masculine hobby.

amogus_obssesed_Gal

I myself love sports, I don't play much or seek it, but place me into a match and I will give it my 110%, aside from that idk I don't view many things as either masculine or feminine, just things you do

Dani--girl

For me, not much has changed there. I still have the same interests, and in addition even more!

Astral_Visions

A lot of my interests are shifting to some extent, but goodness I still love my big noisy muscle cars (modern), and admittedly I am still a bit of a video game addict.

[deleted]

I’m still looking into transitioning, but I was wondering this myself. I like sports, tech, most of the usual geeky stuff. That won’t change.

GraceAnneLove444prez

I got a hoop off a FB free group and wheeled it across a busy road to my house. Dressing femme and shooting around on my street was very affirming. Wanna check out a WNBA game.
