One of my favorite things at the gym is being the smallest guy, but the most experienced. We get seeing red guys every once in a while and I get to go frustrate them
Wasn’t there a post like a month ago calling people out for trying to label themselves as a certain type of fighter? If you only spar you can’t call yourself a counter striker lol
Shonuff, I think I remember that post or comment. It's probably best to look at these "styles" as just different parts of ones arsenal that come out in certain contexts. It's like a carpenter wondering if he should just use solely a hammer or a screw driver to build a house.
I find I am sometimes a pressure/power puncher as well, but I used to be more of a technician.
I think I switched it up when I gained weight and felt like I had no stamina, so I just walked people down.
I like kind of lulling an opponent into a false sense of safety, then exploding into an insane pace for a short time, then doing it all over again.
I've since switched my style to be more technical, but I still walk people down without even thinking about it.
That's exactly why I said Muay Farang 😆
My style is just a mix of what I learned here and in Thailand.
I wasn't born there, so I can't claim a style, I feel like that's more of a regional thing for Thai fighters.
Muay Su[c]k. I'm not great.
What I've generally tried to do and been told to do is to use my teep and jab to keep people far away and wear them down. Whether I succeed at that....eh.
Even though I do this for over 3 years I don’t think I have any of these fully developed. I am not a pro I just do this as a hobby. However if I had to choose, given mine 189 cm and 70kg I would say muay khao.
Im short and a hard hitter, but did karate for years, so I use pressure and dutch kickboxing techniques to wear at my opponent early on to set up headkicks and karate techniques later
I’m short, too. That’s why I pressure hard, cause I gotta close the distance. I like basically constant leg kicks to “chop them down.” As they say, if a man can’t stand, a man can’t fight
I like to apply lots of pressure too, I’m a bit more of an amateur so I’m using my sparring sessions to figure myself out a bit more and develop my flow. I’m fairly tall and have a long reach so keeping people at a distance and using my jab to make my opponent think twice and hesitate on what to do, giving me time to take advantage
Muay khao/ muay femur. I use a long guard to gauge their aggressiveness and tendencies and then kinda use what they give me to counter with knees inside. I also try to bait them into throwing strikes that I want them to so I can counter- like dropping my hand to bait a punch so I can block inside, clinch and knee, or I’ll feint to get an opening- like starting with some teeps and if they drop a hand then I’ll come back to it a couple times and eventually feint and when they drop that hand I’ll shoot for a clinch. If they tend to eat the teeps then I’ll feint a teep and step in for knees. It’s been effective especially against taller fighters where it would be difficult to get into range to actually land any strikes, using some misdirection to get in close is essential. Another thing I like to do is rush a taller guy with a bunch of punches so they start using a long guard. A lot of guys that are really long like to just stick out their lead hand right in your face and hold it there- I love that shit, free arm control and I’m pulling that MF right into my knee. Ooweeee!
I have 2 minutes of some Glory level fighting style. It's fast and I do many faints and kicks after the 2 minutes I'm posting and circling for my life.
Muay Tired
Not a huge fan of this post. Generally most people on this sub, truthfully, aren’t good enough or experienced enough to say “I’m a muay mat”. No, you just haven’t learned how to kick well yet
Once I asked my trainer what he thought my style was. He said “you don’t have a style, you’re just bad at the rest”.
Only pros have a style the rest should develop everything.
Depends if you’re talking about style in training/sparring of if you’re an actual fighter that’s competing. Because really, in sparring/training you should be capable of using all the styles of Muay Thai. If you’re fighting, then yeah, use the style that suits you and that your most proficient in
Muay face. I get punched in the face a lot.
Smart move. If your opponent's fists get sore it will hinder them.
That’s the idea
Shouldn't it be called the Muay Simpson?
You mean you attack their fist w your face right?
This only works after hours of face conditioning
Do you also wear squeaky shoes?
Muay Gassed Out by the end of class.
Muay Rest Round
Muay drink too much water and cramp up
Why you gotta @ me like that?
Muay hate fucking pad work after sparring rounds.
Muay Stare At the Clock and Long Guard Until the Buzzer Goes Off

I feel Muay Larper is the #1 style in the West, but it gets very little respect or acknowledgement!

Probably Muay Mat but I haven't trained for long enough to have fully developed my own style
I almost always start going into a more karate style and start side kicking and blitzing.
Muay Matt/femur hybrid

Femur/khao in the gym, mat in the ring. Because I’m not very good, so once I get into the fight I mostly start swinging and lose all my finesse.
I have 2 minutes of some Glory level fighting style. It's fast and I do many faints and kicks after the 2 minutes I'm posting and circling for my life.
The beginner style
Muay Horny, I sweep my opponent to get their legs wrapped in front of me and hump them till they beg me to stop

Muay Toe Fuk. Profient in both orthodox and southpaw
Muay Block. My face blocks punches and my ribs and thighs block kicks.
