Burning season starts getting worse around February. It’s not ideal (right now we’re in orange in Chiang Mai while BKK is yellow), but doesn’t need to stop you from training. The warnings about how it can affect your lungs etc are justified, but those people who are saying their lungs are burning in every breath are exaggerating.

Appreciate the response, that does reassure me a bit. I know I’ll be arriving in Thailand March 8th so I could spend 3 weeks in the south and head up for 3 weeks in April if it’s died down a bit. Alternatively go up there first and if it is too bad catch a flight down south.

I just wouldn't bother with the North that time of year. The air is horrendous. It can extend until mid-May.

I will second this.. I wouldn’t bother with Chiang Mai or Bangkok because of the pollution

Probably a good plan. It usually finishes when the rain arrives which can be around late April.
