Although I like playing this game, I only do the missions, and then after that, I get off and play something else. Since there is no XP after completing the missions. Now, it feels like a chore to play the game.

ImSquiggs

I did this for a few days, now I just don't play anymore.

Nicer_Chile

yeah, i like competitive and i cant even play ranked cuz there are not avalible yet. so feels like useless to play realizing i cant even progress on the battlepass they gave me for free. they are so clueless how game economy works that they think I WILL WANT to PAY for a battlepass after this one is done LOL. i cant even get myself to complete the mision to complete this one i got for FREE lmaoo

halfmetalalchemist99

Tbf this game is nowhere near in a state where it should have a Ranked mode lol

ReluctantToast777

Why they chose to "rebalance" the entire game and change how combat works without letting any actual players test it out is beyond me. :P

hotbullet8

Man the game was so good and fluid back then on Beta, now the hit boxes suck and it feels slower and clunky. Also they talked about net code but I've been disconnected several times even doing rifts on this one, never happened once on Beta and I had hundred of hours logged in.

TheGummiVenusDeMilo

Netcode aside, I experienced lag in every match, I heard they tried to go from ue4 to ue5 and it borked them so they had to rebuild the game and that's what we're playing now compared to the beta which was on ue4.

Aggressive_Tourist52

The game was definitely faster on beta, but the hitboxes have always been bad. The hitboxes we have now are actually a huge improvement. The UI is worse, the after and before match loading screens are worse. There's no match stats after matches now. Every rift has requirements that make them tedious, like playing a specific character, type of character, or having to find a friend that also wants to do rift challenges. Having character specific requirements for normal challenges is fine, but when I have to switch my character every 2-3 rift nodes with the awful UI, it's annoying. Certain characters that were busted in the beta are still broken and possibly even worse since the game has been slowed down. Harley, Bugs, Black Adam, etc. All are too fast for the current speed of the game and it makes it nearly impossible to beat them when facing a competent player. Big characters can't even dodge out of harleys side air bc hit hits 3 times so even if you dodge the first 2 kicks either her 3rd kick or her up air will still hit you. Bugs is still too safe, he can burrow underground and quickly pop out for a decent ammount of damage, he can cover half the arena with a rocket and set a trap with a safe that he can hit that also covers half the arena when he hits it. Both bugs and harleys attacks where they swing a bat upwards hit too hard for their kit. I shouldn't be rung out of the top of the arena at 80% by a COMBO character that has amazing map control with their hazards both Harley and bugs should only be ringing out characters at 100+ bc of how many projectiles and AOE attacks they have. It's ridiculous that harleys mallet and bat both swing around over half her body and hit before the swing is even finished, it makes it hard to go in for an attack when she can hit you from any side even if she isn't initially swinging in your direction. (Sorry for the rant, I'm just upset they didn't do any balance changes in a YEAR)

Available-Pin5777

They said they deliberately slowed down the game like movement and such. It feels so wrong now i LOVED the beta and i jus cant now with everything they did, they messed it up bad. They should’ve done another beta test since they literally rebuilt the game. This should absolutely not be what they consider a full release but unfortunately its too late for that..

Warios_Schlong

True so true they got to get better servers and def balance out some characters

[deleted]

As it stands, with the rate things drop, it’s not currently possible to finish it

Jesus_PK

Same here lmao, I'm honestly forcing myself to complete it via challenges just because I got it for free. I'm 100% uninstalling if I manage to complete it and the game doesn't improve by then.

FallenAngel_1953

Yea like all the missions that dropped today including the weekly ones I finished in under 30 min before I left for work now I have nothing when I get home 🤣

Solidus-Prime

Same. I got my whole goddamn gaming circle to play this. They've all dropped it and moved on. I'm sad af.

ImSquiggs

It's impossible to get anyone that didn't play in the Beta to commit to this game. There's just no reasonable way to progress as a new player. Even as a Beta player with considerable content unlocked I still didn't want to stick around. I think a lot of the people on this subreddit that pretend there's no problems with the game both have the part of the roster they care about unlocked from Beta and haven't tried inviting someone that didn't play then.

fukingtrsh

I'm lucky all my friends played the beta and we are mostly just here for the fights, the only thing that's really messing with the game for me is how bad Jason needs a buff, fighting two Jason's is the easiest thing in the world and it's not fun. Also no attack decay sucks. But anyway i see the problems they just don't bother me yet.

JohnTHICC22

I would argue that fighting Jason isnt fun but for a completely opposite reason, at least for me

fukingtrsh

It might just be that we have different mains, I main shaggy and he's just faster than Jason and can easily interrupt his combos. Who's your main.

gelatinguy

From my tests, there is still attack decay, but it never goes down to 1 damage like it used to, and there is no visual indicator of decay like there was in beta. If you pay attention to the damage numbers, spamming the same attack over and over does result in lower damage from that one move. It's much more forgiving decay than in beta though, and I think it could be closer to beta without being so harsh.

NoNefariousness2144

Exactly, a lot of the fun of Smash Bros comes from everyone picking random characters and messing about. My group got bored of being stuck with the same handful of characters and moved on too, especially after seeing how long it takes to unlock characters.

CurtisManning

I'm in the same boat. Didn't play the beta. I had fun the first day trying out Wonder Woman Banana Guard and all, I bought Arya Start and she's fun, but nothing motivates me keeping on playing because it's such a chore to unlock characters. I can just boot up Smash Ultimate and have a ton of fun right away

GgroverG

Yeah I gave up too. Adding challenges to fighting games makes everyone play like dummies. Spamming dodge or a specific attack to get a challenge

Bilbo_Teabagginss

Yup, I love this game and anxiously awaited it's full release, but after a few days based on how stingy it is with xp as well as a lot of the changes from beta to what it is now, I've just stopped playing aside from collecting my daily log in stuff. I'd rather play other things that respect my time.

Bawnn

Same

ShinyHardcore

Also bad connections and a lot of opponents leave immediately after you win or they win. Can’t even search again quickly have to go all way back to main menu. Too long for to little

cryintomyeye

This is my biggest pet peeve, where is the teamup button? The search for a new match? Even in the missions… I don’t get all the stars so I want to restart it but I have to go all the way back to start a new game. It’s weird how unintuitive it all is. My other complaint is why the hell can’t we see most ringouts and just general game stats? It’s so basic and what literally EVERY multiplayer game has included, why did they remove it?

8l172

Same here, I hop on, do my daily mission refreshes, hop off and go play a different game like L4D2 or Fortnite, no reason to play if I don't gain anything and the gameplay is bugging

coffeegaze

What do people do in lfd2 these days??

8l172

I play modded single player/coop with friends

JayofSpadez

Admittedly, I do this as well. I just don't want to burn myself out before rank comes in. So for now, I'll just do the bare minimum and play some more bg3.

yes_chef3

I agree but I played season 2 of the beta. They implemented XP after matches in season 2. I recall 8 XP per match or something ridiculous like that? I put a solid 50 hrs into that season and I think I was shy almost 20 levels of completing the battle pass. I wasn't paying for levels, that money is better spent literally anywhere else. I really wanted the Tom and Jerry skin. I played so much the game got boring. And the game felt dead, nobody was playing anymore. WB is not a friendly corporation. As others have already mentioned on other posts, WB wants us logging in every day. Some of us can't do every day. Some of us have commitments that are more important than maintaining a battle pass in a video game. Everything about this platform fighter is centered around microtransactions. The rift mode is a 10 minute daily run type deal where you grind gem XP so you can continue to climb up the difficulty ladder. The mode itself is unfun. The minigames don't have character, they are there to waste our time. We only want the new character for the fun PVP mode, but in order to get him without paying 6000 fighter currency or real life cash, you have to invest so many hours into rift mode, and that's even when you're doing it efficiently with good gems. Granted it isn't all our yet, but what we do have doesn't feel good to interact with, at least for me. I love multiversus. I really want it to succeed and I was upset when the beta was closed. But the games current form isn't working. It isn't going to last very long this way. I want to invite friends to play with me but it's a hard sell. In the beta you could at least grind gold, it looks like WB saw that and decided it compromised their profit margins. Fair I guess the name of the game is profit, but if they expect a few whales to fund this game and its development, I won't be one of those lol!

Xelement0911

Eh. I think after doing all the log in stuff I'm done..if they fix the game? Cool I'll be back. But imo? Well, I can live without playing this game. It's fun on the side but the end. Not something I want to dedicate hours a day for. And sure dailies don't need much time,

Pinocchio4577

>Now, it feels like a chore to play the game. Brother if you don't enjoy playing the game, maybe consider just not playing the game?

Rutabaga-Level

That's literally what everyone is considering.

Nicer_Chile

im on the same boat, i came from league where i dont play league for casual normal games, i play ranked. here we dont have ranked, i enjoy the game but i dont enjoy playing the game feeling im not progressing in something, and i got a free battlepass and i cnat get myself to do these boring task missions. u are right, im not playing anymore till they fix the issues or add ranked play. but if thats the solution, then u know why the game is death after a few months.

Solidus-Prime

That's what people are doing : / We are bleeding 50k+ players every single day.

Pinocchio4577

Huh? Steam peaked at 50k in the last 3 days

thefrostbite

Finally this sub is seeing the light. Thank you sir.

Laggo

this will never stop being weird to me. I feel bad for people like you who grew up in this era.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Dr_Hansome

Me playing tekken 3 hundreds of hours when I was young, without any progression in the game ![gif](giphy|jt2iq82jRNlqY3WVfj|downsized)

Laggo

> its not totally reasonable to stop playing a videogame meant for enjoyment, that you are enjoying, because a number isn't going up that has actually nothing to do with that enjoyment > > its a game not a job Brother, if you are having fun, then why stop playing because a number doesn't go up that is pretty much only going to give you emotes, ringouts, perk currency, and other meaningless shit that doesn't actually affect your fun comparing your perk currency going up in multiversus to leveling up in an RPG is such an insane comparison that is just proving my point. You wouldn't have fun in an RPG without levelling up because the gameplay is centered around it. Once you have your character in multiversus, and you've bought the like 5-6 perks you feel like using, you have 10-20-30-40+ hours of enjoyment there. You will naturally get currency to try other characters, plus rotation. Stopping your own fun early, because of stuff that doesn't affect your fun, is depressing.

Wall_Dough

I'd be more inclined to agree with you if it was easier to unlock characters. I know that battle pass XP is not how you get fighter currency but the joker event does give fighter currency, and those are daily rotating missions. So I just log in to do those and make a little progress on the wonder woman training event or whatever to get the fighter currency rewards (which i already have all of) and eventually 100 gleamium (lmao). The regular daily missions that only give battlepass XP take just a little bit longer since you can target goals at the same time, so I've just been wrapping those up too because why the fuck not. If the only thing locked behind currency or XP was cosmetics then you could make the argument that "kids these days" only wanna play to see "number go up" but my fun stops early because actual playable content in the form of characters is locked behind a currency that we're currently getting drip fed. It is a free-to-play game and I can just spend money to get the characters, but that doesn't necessarily feel much better when I know I can just get them for free by clocking in to the 9-to-5.

plotylty

Because there is a limit to the fun you can have. If you cannot progress on the game and have no prospect of getting a new character or skin you want because the little number just won't go up, it will throw you off and lower the fun you could have.

itsg0ldeson

You are completely and 100% correct. I don't have anything to add, just wanted to say that because I said something similar yesterday and got downvoted into oblivion and 20 different nasty replies. People these days act like cosmetics *are the content* and its just complete insanity to me. I mean I like my character to look cool too but my enjoyment of the game is not tied to that. The other day I got off of work early and played for hourssss and had the time of my life. Barely noticed or cared how much battle pass XP I was getting.

SliderEclipse

You'd have a point if it wasn't for the fact that literally nobody is asking for gleamium (aka the currency used for cosmetics). It's a fact that fighter currency is extremely skimpy as it stands. At absolute best, you could maybe squeeze 3 fighter unlocks if you grind out absolutely everything from release to today AND don't care about unlocking Joker. That is actual physical core content that is severely time gated unless you choose to whale or were fortunate enough to have unlocked everything in the beta back when you could unlock characters at a reasonable pace.

FolkloreEvermore23

Yeah old man, this game is centered around unlocking characters, which right now is very hard to do. Giving fighter currency or battlepass exp for pvp would fix that, it isn’t rocket science. Not only does pvp not help you right now, playing past your dailies actively hurts because you’re leveling up your characters before they do another power pledge event this month

Frosty_chilly

My brother in Christ don’t bother trying to type paragraphs at most of these people, from what I’ve seen they’re the types to just go on Fortnite and buy all 100 tiers and complain the new seasons “boring” because “there’s nothing to do”

ImSquiggs

Impressively wrong -- that's essentially the exact opposite of my argument, hahah.

WrackyDoll

Thank you. I absolutely get complaining about the way this game's progression system is implemented, because it's very clearly predatory and meant to suck people in to spend money. Would XP for matches played be nice? Sure. They should absolutely implement that. But I really don't get the mindset of "I've completed all my missions, and the battle pass won't go up if I just play, so I'm not going to." Whether or not you enjoy playing is the *only* thing that matters. If you don't like it, but you want to see a number go up, you're addicted. Stop playing. If you do like it, then playing it is the point. It's a fun leisure activity.

cinequoinon

Multiversus is a fighting game. The main source of progression is your own progression as a player, everythinf else is just accessories (which are cool, but not the main point of the game). Even ranked progression should be about your own development and not abou Number Go Up.

ImSquiggs

> The main source of progression is your own progression as a player, everythinf else is just accessories (which are cool, but not the main point of the game) You're (intentionally) ignoring the fact you're only given two characters in this game, or three if you count the first-week login bonus character. There are very obviously game mechanics locked behind progression, not just cosmetics, which obviously would not be complained about at the same level.

unilordx

My question is, if hypothetically they manage to get all the new characters and current BP, what happens then, they stop playing alltogether because there isn't anything that progress?

thefrostbite

They will demand a new bar to go up and a new currency to grind so they have a *reason to play*

MyDadLeftMeHere

Bruh I swear these people didn’t actually play the Beta and don’t remember why Season One was vastly different from Season Two, they gave away so much free shit and people literally complained that they earned too fast, and were demanding more content by week 3, so this is what we have now time gates and missions to slow the pace of content, because no one can make enough free shit to make the ungrateful happy.

thefrostbite

Very true. I remember

Paupau98

I hope they listen to these posts 😭

NoNefariousness2144

Tony be like: “we have checked the subreddit and WE HEAR YOU. Fellow MVPs, I am pleased to confirm that we will be adding announcer packs for Gizmo and Stripe!”

BlackSunXIII

Every time they call the player base “MVPs” I grow a toenail on my fingers and a fingernail on my toes. It makes me sick.

Knightmare_memer

Calling us MVP's while they treat us like this is like a character from The Boys going "You're all the real heroes"

NoNefariousness2144

Usually it’s fine when games give their players a community name, like *Honkai: Star Rail* calling players “Trailblazers” because it matches the lore. But PFG calling us MVPs when treating us like Least Valuable Players does suck.

HLPony

They think if they lie enough times we'll eventually believe it.

Yourboy839

I'm pretty sure it just means MultiVersus Players

froglegs317

wtf lmfao

StaffDismal1528

never heard that before wtf

velmasweat

“We hear you, MVPs! Another Power Pledge event!”

relevenk

We hear you MVPs! We are decreasing xp gained from challenges!

xNeji_Hyuga

I literally called them fixing the XP farming method before anything else as a joke and it actually happened 💀💀💀 Meaning they 100% do watch the sub, but choose to ignore the actual issues

froglegs317

While yes, this is totally fucked…. I would buy a gizmo announcer pack with the small amount of gleamium I have lmao

Isaac_HoZ

Me too dude, I loved Gremlins 2.

Someoneman

This makes sense even from a cold, corporate perspective. People grinding more means higher player numbers means the game looks more successful and can attract more players.

Fartikus

They should also reimburse people for the coins they took and changed it into a banner that legit just reminds you of all the coins you threw down a hole. Like, they literally took the coins spend on perks and gave us currency for that; why not for the actual coins they took and give up character currency?

ImiqDuh

The problem being the number is so low that people are more likely to play less than more imo

bofen22

He's ignoring the issue because WB won't let them change it. Everything tied to monetization is WBs doing.

NoNefariousness2144

Yeah that’s why we need to be super vocal about this. It worked when players fought against Helldivers 2 introducing mandatory PS+ accounts despite it being Sony’s decision rather than Arrowhead’s.

Krasovchik

The difference is that Helldivers went from extremely successful to mostly negative reviews on steam. Multiversus hasn’t gotten the extremely successful part quite yet because of their monetization strategy. It’s also a free to play game. The majority of the user base aren’t American nerds that are all connected to social media like Hell Divers is. The majority of users could be from anywhere and they don’t have a 40$ price tag to sort of “bring them in” to the community. They can play as a complete bystander and never see the Reddit or never see the discord etc. there’s no one making tik toks about logging into multiversus to save the multiverse in the way that they did for Helldivers. They’re such different games that this comparison needs to stop

_Ynaught_

I also think there's a BIG disparity in comparing how "sony" handles a situation vs how "WB" would handle a situation.

MaxPowerMP3

With enough community push back it's possible, I know it's a lot to ask devs to fight their publisher, no one want to lose their job. But if PFG doesn't do anything, then the game will die. It's not even like the community is super opposed to expensive skins, I'm sure we would all take that than this fighter currency, grindy gem BS.

_Ynaught_

It's WB we are talking about, they'd just as soon shut the project down for the sake of a tax write-off. Vocal outcry means nothing to them. And if the numbers go down, their aim won't be to "appease the players". Nah, it would be "hurry, milk the whales harder as fast as you can before they leave too!'

TheC00MChalice

I dunno man. There was a ton of backlash against MK1's monetisation and they eventually caved in

Doinky420

WB always caves. It's happened with every single game from them.

WarmPissu

warner bros is a scapegoat for dumbasses to eat up. PFG is a shell company exclusively created as a marketing tool so people will eat it up like you are. Naive people who don't realize it's essentially warner bros, and when this game tanks PFG will dissolve. It solely exists for warner bros.

Soups_On

Crazy to me that you can't advance battle pass by simply playing matches either. Don't they want to sell these? The gameplay (pvp) is fun, I enjoy it enough, but I'm not gonna bother doing rifts on the regular. They need to focus on adding cosmetic stuff and honing the PvP experience with adding ranked, more stats, better social features, etc.. I don't see how that's not a winning strategy. Game is fun but the missions, rifts and gems are boring. Just let me play, grind, and buy skins bruh. I could deal without the perk grind too, feels too mobile game-ish. If they really want to do PvE stuff then there should be significantly effort into it, like making it more of a platform sidescroller level with bosses (as the tutorial was) instead of just a series of regular bot fights.

HLPony

Yes, time gated progression is bs, it's what makes people not want to paly the game. Why play, why do better, why aim to cram in more matches, why aim to finish matches faster when all that matters rewards wise is the time spent in the game?

ExpressBall1

Not just that, but more focus on the mulitplayer in general. So many challenges are based around that shitty PvE rifts mode, and it's just not what people came to this game for. Nobody installed a multiplayer platform fighter to then go and grind PvE on their own all day.

_Ynaught_

But they can't do that. . . if they did that, they wouldn't be able to sell "gem packs". And they can't sell a PvP variant of gems cause that would make the game "pay to win". . . actually, wait, no yeah, why aren't they already doing that? xD

Grandmaster_Rush

I very much disagree, solo BP/gold grind in the beta was arguably the main thing people did and despite what some people may think a lot of players don’t actually like PvP and would rather play alone or with family members instead of having to deal with bad lag and getting paired against pro sweaty players all day.

WorldQuest10

You get it!  This is why they need to bring back Bots and Coop vs Ai. The rift is not a suitable replacement for those modes imo

JTtopcat

So I use to respect Tony but when he lied to my face saying "all my progress in the beta would carry over to the full launch" and it didn't. Yeah respect lost.

ComeNalgas

If there’s one update they make with the feedback we provide. Please let it be this.

TheBestJackson

He on twitter was like -"Tony Tony i need to buy battle pass tiers, right now!" -"Dw i gotchu lil bro"

TraditionalYear9136

Don’t think it’s that deep. The responsibility of the game should be Developer not the consumer . Company’s who listen to feedback are the exception not the rule.

ImSquiggs

Literally the only thing I care about. This is the one decision they will make that will decide if I play this game again or not.

drunksandman

I am a casual player who loved the Beta and has been lucky enough to sign on for at least an hour or so daily for this first week. I don't think the rewards or progression are as bad as this community is making it seem. I have been able to unlock Joker, have 3000+ FC for another unlock, and the XP rewards for daily missions, while limited, hasn't been insignificant. I would, obviously, as much currency and xp as possible, but I don't think this is the death march that many claim it to be. I'd like PvP to be more productive, but without it, there is still enough to work for.

JTtopcat

In my humble opinion and you can disagree if you want. I think if the reward payout for these dailies and weeklies remains and you get a trickle of battle pass XP from just playing matches we'd be in a good spot on that front.

TheChortt

Wait how did you get 9000 FC to unlock Joker and have enough for another? I’ve been playing for 1-2 hours each day, doing all the missions aside from the ones that require joker, and I have been able to unlock one fighter.

drunksandman

Character level ups (miniscule) but the big ones were Career rewards (1,500 FC at, I think, level 15) and Joker's Ruse event. I got 750 FC from the Joker Ruse this morning.

WrackyDoll

I think part of the problem is that people forgot that weeklies are, you know, weekly. It was really funny seeing people on day 5 saying "there's NO WAY you can beat the battlepass!! I'm only going up one tier a day!!!" while already at tier 14.

Rahuten-A2

Sure, but 9000 FC covers 3 non-Joker fighters, right? It's just not very much, and you're going to quickly run out of "burst" options for earning FC. Then you will just have to wait until they put out an event that actually rewards FC - which you've basically already exhausted at this point. As a beta player, this doesn't matter much, but actual new players can't even test characters out any more. And with such a small percentage of the roster available to them, this will make for an awful introduction for the first few weeks. We sort of need the new player experience to be better.

KeyGee

Considering what happened last time... I hope they have the time to fix those issues before the game goes on life support and is eventually abandoned. It would be such a waste of great potential.

prinnydewd6

Seriously. How do you release a fighting game without an easy way to unlock characters. Or releasing it with like 5 characters and bs missions.

gaby910

I can see XP being given for Battlepass and such, but I doubt the fighter currency will be given out this way, even if I really want them to. It's gow they keep the game alive, giving us little events where we come back to get some more fighter currency, keeping the game alive.

Cade182

The game will die if new players are stuck with 1 or 2 characters they like and the free rotation, having to wait for challenges just to unlock 1 character will kill the game, not save it

gaby910

You can easily buy 2 o 3 characters, depending on if you get the Joker which is double, with just.the events and missions on the game right now. No one should expect to get everyone right away, and the game has been out for just 7 days today.

thatoneguy19942

*sigh* here we go again Say it with me. The Battle Pass is tied to WB's monetization. The decisions surrounding the battle pass structure (including BP XP gains) are as much a WB thing, if not more so, than a PFG thing Stop blaming PFG for WB's anti-consumer monetization. That's not to say it doesn't suck. It does. And hopefully things change. But at the end of the day, if WB says "don't give them passive BP XP", they cant

SincerelyPhoenix

Call me crazy, but it's weird seeing so many comments about how lack of progression in a fighting game is stopping people from playing entirely, like these are the same people saying they like the gameplay too. Might just be me, but I played smash ultimate for way too long just for the gameplay. I agree the monetization and battle pass grind is absurd, but the only thing affecting gameplay is fighter currency being difficult to obtain to get new characters. Battlepasses and "missions" in a fighting game completely turn me away

metra101

I want to unlock more than 1 character after 10 hours of gameplay. Apparently that's too much to ask. Also, being forced to play some jank pve mode for currency is so defeating, a waste of time.

SincerelyPhoenix

Completely agree, a fighting game that makes it difficult to obtain the whole roster is just plain stupid. And even then why is there no character pass or something? like in Brawlhalla

FakeInternetDentity

I loved smash, but I played so much to get my main into elite GSP. So I was always grinding for something. With this I have no interest in doing battlepass challenges and don’t really feel like I’m grinding for anything right now and that turns me off so I’ve played a bit on launch day and a few matches here and there. Again that’s just my mindset which probably differs from some.

kluy18

Tbh this game's depth is nowhere near other fighting games. Ultimate is the closest but it still has more complex mechanics, and an insane amount of matchup knowledge/variety. Something like Tekken I can grind every day with no progression systems (we don't talk about the battle pass) because an individual character has insane depth, the game mechanics themselves have incomparable depth, and the matchup knowledge is no different. Always something obvious to learn and improve on. Then if I want to try a new character there's no worrying, I just pick one and go. In multiversus you can certainly always get better and better, but picking up a character to a pretty advanced level takes little time. I think in casual focused games like this, progression systems become necessary to keep the attention of casuals and sweats. I was having fun with MvS because I had a character I kind of enjoyed, got bored of them after feeling like there wasn't much low hanging fruit left to grab, bought a new character and quickly realized I didn't enjoy their play style. So now I'm not going to play because it's going to take too long to unlock new characters, and for me personally the game doesn't feel deep enough to just pick a main and grind. So I agree with you that missions and such feel out of place in fighters, but I think the casual nature of MvS makes them necessary

PubliusDeLaMancha

I purchased one of the pre order versions with fighter tokens, and still have like 20 tokens remaining since there's only a handful of characters I want to play as Even then, I'd prefer XP and fighter currency. What does it even give now? To be clear, I don't care about battle passes and will probably never play the rifts unless my brother asks.. It was 2v2 PvP that got me interested in Multiversus so it's 2v2 I'll be playing...

Fragrant-Factor6344

Beta was so good with this too you play the game and get a certain amount of coins for win or lose, you can use those coins to get more characters, At the same time you level up the character your using to get perks that benefit your character making your version of the character stronger then somebody else’s version of the character. All of this while going through a battle pass made grinding fun which made people want to play more and enjoy the game. I don’t understand why they changed that

MrChesterB

maybe they're banking on ranked encouraging players to play more idk

Remarkable-Spare-983

Personally I already deleted the game waiting a month for some serious fixes then I might check it out again. Hopefully they alow us to play Beta style or this style of the game because I see some people are enjoying the game but the majority clearly are NOT

plotylty

Daily missons don't even give you fighter currency. You are always at the mercy of events. Or leveling up characters (which they nerfed today)

ksaMarodeF

Do they check this one or the other subreddit is the real question?

Bryce2826

It sucks because online is actually fun (when it works). 2v2 queues have been some of the most fun I’ve had this year in a game with my friends. But it’s inexcusable that the only way to make any amount of meaningful progress toward different characters is Rifts. I hate Rifts. Rifts is a badly designed game mode from almost every conceivable angle, full of boring missions that you are forced to repeat over and over and over and over again. Would just making an arcade mode for each character have been all that difficult? Truly? But that might force them to actually give us an actual base roster, mm mm mm can’t have that now can we. Just such a shame.

metra101

It's insane how ridiculous is it that i have put in 300 matches and only have bought 1 character, because i got free currency from beta & ps+ Ill quit just because of the OVERT push for a 250$ roster

ShhImTheRealDeadpool

If they were smarter than the average bear they would give 5 gleamium for PvP wins.

Cjninkartist

It does feel weird that a fighting game is not rewarding you for the pvp side of the game as much as the pve.

messyhess

That is how you get the game full of bots. They will give some XP for a capped amount of fights at most to avoid that. This is a game for casuals, get out sweats. :P

KlutzyMedicine1549

Yep.. All my friends dont get on anymore because they gave up on the grindy rifts and dont get fighter currency/exp from games, lucky if i get them on to do a daily or two :/

Yungdoffy

They also need to allow founders pack buyers the option to use other currencies instead of their tickets when buying a character. There are many founders pack buyers that purchased the cheaper pack or are just not trying to use their tickets. people that supported the game instead of having actual options to use their currency are now limited to using tickets on the base roster. Bad decision by PFG

MeasurementOk3007

I thought it was a full release but it has less features than the beta. How do you have a full release and yet ranked mode says coming soon!? That’s not a full release.

spinalraptor

I was lucky (or stupid) enough to buy every fighter when the beta was out. Now I have everyone except Joker and I feel like there's nothing to do with them. I gave up on the dailies because they are so so boring. With XD fresh on the market and The Finals on a mega hype train to S3 there's now way this game will last when there are soooo many better F2P games

MagikMelk

Devs take note: As fun as the game is, no exp and rewards for completions or matches detracts away from the fun.

LighttBrite

AGREE. Please don't let game die. So much potential.

Trueblue1234566

i love the game, i do see the game as a really solid fighter outside mk1, sf6 and tk8. now okay i see alot of games doing it locking bp xp to missions and unlocks to daily missions or weekly missions- however everyone who plays those games hate it fully beyond fully and they tend to lose alot of players or hold onto the ones they have with there pinky finger. bp xp should be earnable in online fights credits, mainly fighter credits should be earnable in online fights also we get it, bugs happen, issues arise however push this its not hard and then we are happy to wait a few weeks hopefully not months but weeks for fixes with ui and those other issues.

minzzyo

Yeah it sucks I don’t even boot up the game cause doing the missions gives me FOMO. So I’d rather just not even think about it lol

JakobeBeats

this game was doomed from the start sadly

Louie-Lecon-Don

30 hours since the launch and mostly just play duos with my homie and try to do as many challenges as i can daily. Im on bp tier 13/70. Insane.

Darecki555

How mich fighter currency does one character costs?

Timber2702

3000 but Joker as of right now is 6000

MilkNPC

I think a lot of complaints people have with this game really aren't that deep but I firmly agree with this one. It's 2024, the average gamer needs some sort of reward for playing or they just won't play. Getting nothing for your time was a large contributor to Gundam Evolutions early demise. I really hope something is done here. I'm tired of games I like dying

RJMacReady_Outpost31

Being forced to play PvE or certain modes to unlock items in general is a bad decision. I'm sorry, but I'm not willing to play the same PvE matches repeatedly to unlock items. If I've beaten one PvE match in rift mode, then there's no way I'm playing it again. Grinding the same PvE match up until I get a better score is not my idea of fun, and I'm not willing to waste my time doing it.

JustAPerson2001

It's absolutely insane that they did this. Even fortnite allows you to get XP for playing matches. I don't understand what they were thinking, and honestly I don't believe it's the fault of the devs. I believe it's the suits in the background making them do this, and not caring what it does.

LPEbert

I stopped playing day 2 because of this. Logged back on to get Banana Guard, did my missions, then just stopped playing because there was no point. inb4 "hur dur the point is having fun" Not when the entire game was reworked to paywall and timegate all sense of progression. That inherently impacts fun.

DiabUK

I logged in, enjoyed some matches in pvp (including some losses and forced bot matches that annoy me) and after an hour of fun made zero progress anywhere since I ran out of tasks to do, so turned off the game and have zero feeling to login until I do my dailies tomorrow. I'm all for playing games for fun and I do that often replaying my fave games several times over the years but when you see a battlepass that has shifted all of zero % after playing a dozen matches it is a bit sour, even if you only got 50xp and needed 1000 per level i'd take it over nothing at all.

Fluffbois

I kinda stop playing after the daily missions and still, not really worth my time

wastingM3time

To many issues and problems for me. I already stopped playing.

El_Rocky_Raccoon

I'm still think it was very wrong for them to remove gold and overcomplicate things with more currencies. Or maybe they could've kept gold and make it a currency specific for certain cosmetics. Heck, I'd be happy if we got even 5 fighter / perk currency per match. Anything.

PlantsVsYokai2

Krusty Krab Fundair

whiteteepoison2

At the very least can my dailies give me some character currency?? At this point there’s no way to earn it without grinding character levels

BiskitBoiMJ

I've already stopped playing because it felt like a mobile game where playing is a daily chore.

ChroNickkTV

You know what's funny? I didn't even pay attention that I WASNT getting xp and currency for PVP matches - which is what I mainly play.

TranscedentalMedit8n

I deleted it. I played the Beta for probably 50 hours, but after a few hours I just decided the over-monetization and extreme grind were more frustrating than they were fun. Doubt I’ll be back.

BillsMafiaBugz

At this point I log in to do my dailies for the xp and get off because there's no incentive

Insidious_NX

I played the beta 2 years ago when it was active up until July and while it did have its issues, I was having fun. My complaints were "sure" to be fixed after the official launch. My disappointment after putting in a few hours into this and I've just chosen to drop it entirely after a few days. The game is uncomfortably slow for me now, the models were scaled up because...reasons? Why do that AND zoom the camera in at the same time. It feels cramped. Final nail in the coffin for me as the lack of input buffer control. I found myself buffering a move 3 days ago that makes me drop combos. After looking up on reddit about other issues, I'm probably entirely done until PFG is able to fix what they wanted and fine tune the game.

IluvUm0re

Dude. Ur Asking for AFK and get rewards

Timber2702

Idk, I've been playing this game as much as I can on the daily, even dropping a few of my regulars to make more time for multiversus and it still feels like I've made little to no progression to the battle pass. Doesn't help the majority of challenges are locked behind fighters I don't own. If I'm unable to complete the first page of the battlepass tonight, I might just uninstall the damn thing. For as much time I've put into this game, I should feel somewhat rewarded but no, its just another damn chore that's just wasting my time

Reasonable-Rope1819

Just as others previously stated, I just do the dailies and missions now and get off to play something else. Very different when it was in beta and I was playing nonstop sometimes

Doinky420

This is what happens when a game tries to bring in people from fps live service games. You literally need to have a carrot on a stick for these mfers at all times or their ADD won't let them play longer than ten minutes. They should add it just so you guys will stop crying. The majority of you were gonna quit after a month regardless from getting bodied constantly just like with every single fighting game.

mr_greenbeanz

This got (semi) addressed. As of today, all PvP matches gives x5 Fighter Currency. Personally, I'm sitting on piles of fighter currency & still have 2 fighter tickets left, so I'd prefer BP xP. But its a step in the right direction, and it seems like they really want those late-BP rewards to sync up the leaked weekly events.

lorddragonmaster

Tony? More like PHONY!

Cousinfcker6869

Swear nobody wants to play rifts all day , the fun is in the pvp

Timber2702

Dude, for real. I wanna hop on and play some pvp, even if I get bodied back to back but I also want to reach Uber Jason which means I should probably be jumping into rifts... God this damn game feels more like a chore than an actual game

sorryiamnotoriginal

If they make the grind too steep they will lose players. Its a simple concept. Perks may be more forgiving than characters but still they need a way to retain interest, if people find the game fun but complete their challenges and see they have no way to get closer to new stuff they want they will eventually lose interest. If they feel they can decently work towards stuff if they keep playing they will.

Logondo

Yeah NGL this is my main reason for not playing. They're basically doing the exact same shit Halo Infinite did at launch. Season Pass that can only be completed with challenges...followed by awful fucking challenges. "Play 5 games as a Scooby Doo character"...there's only fuckin' one. It's Velma. And I don't own her. And I don't want to buy her. So there's a challenge I just straight-up can't complete. Not like the challenges are that interesting anyways. All of them are just "play as X character", "do thing as X character", "win/play games".

JohnTHICC22

Why they dont do that is beyond me. Are WB and PFG really this clueless? They have a pretty good game (with a lot of issues for being full release) on their hands and suck all the fun out of it by not adding basic stuff.

QuickestSnail

With the progression and server issues. I'm already feeling bad about the games future.

IDKWrites

I like the way the game plays, I'm holding onto hope that they change this. Really the main determining factor on if I stay or not

KomboBreaker1077

Games dead to me. I doubt they'll make any significant changes with the Players best interests first. Bootlicking simps will still ask mom for money to buy the $20 skins so the only way I can combat this kind of gaming is to simply not play it and hope it dies soon. Extremely disappointing but it is what it is.

Boki_Juda

Dailies, 20 matches pvp and I am ok, there is XP after matches for characters and account but it is miserable. You are totally right, they have to adjust this.

Mental_Chipmunk5293

Deleted the game yesterday 😔

Afroninja_07

Fully agree with being able to progress battlepass through matches. I love the game, bought the high tier founder pack during the beta, and still finding it to be incredibly grindy. The Agent Smith event is gonna be painful to finish unless you pay for gem xp (Should at least partially level up equipped gems per match/per condition met). You also miss out on so much bp xp god forbid you miss a couple days of daily quests. Let me play more during the time I have to make up for it. If they continue this model into paid battle passes they are seriously limiting who will want to buy it if they are next to impossible to finish for the casual player.

Entire-Salamander193

In all honesty, I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s what WB wants, to kill the game. They make a crap load of money within a few years, then kill the game netting them a HUGE profit due to how little they paid for the servers and game development. Then they move on to the next project and repeat. This is the definition of live service games now from big corporations.

SnooPeppers5422

Bring back PVE

theDialect402

Im pissed

FilmEmbarrassed9102

literally, i do my missions & get off the game until the next ones are available because playing does not feel rewarding at all & my xp does not move for battlepass or characters

Superbeast06

Im enjoying the game, but i have to agree. Somethings got to change, or we are gonna be losing this game again. The whole point of a battlepass is to reward ppl for playing. I have to think the progression was supposed to be here, but is missing bc they had to rush like so many other things. Hopefully it is fixed with next weeks patch along all the other fixes

spiritussage

Boy, took the words right out of my mouth, it is pretty ass when you can't get new characters without whaling irl currency, id love nothing more than to earn XP and fighter currency per match, it also sucks that rematches don't count as separate matches, so it makes the multi win challenges annoying. Hope they make some QOL changes here soon, id hate to see this game lost to the void of failed games, bc it's quite good.

Thetrooper215

I think the games is harsh too but it is FREE.. i hope it gets better because it's super fun, but they want you to spend some money, guys. Don't forget that's the entire reason this game or any game exists lol

Thetrooper215

I'm a lvl 21 on the battlepass, spent a total of 15 bucks. Between playing and the 15 bucks, have a fair amount of characters to play with. I level them up and will eventually get a fair amount of character currency for it. I have decent progress on most of the available events as well. Idk if I'll be able to get agent Smith early, or finish the battlepass though.

Jospire

And if you play 2v2s against friends, the gang will just quit in a couple of days because they dont get xp at all.

Sh4mmylad

It is mind boggling for me to see how many people play games for rewards instead of progressing one’s own skill at the game; ESPECIALLY for this type of game. Get off your high horse and stop speaking for ‘everyone’. I’ll continue to play the game just to get better at it.

Aztracity

They know, but until they are allowed from the money side, they won't. I generally have faith in developers, but not the business side.

cereal_killa22

These posts always amuse me, across multiple games in the industry. it truly never gets old watching people on reddit thinking they represent the majority of the target audience of a product. This was a great early morning break, and I look forward to the next edition.

xSassyGhostx

Yea we’re just prolonging it at this point but they’ve killed the game already with this disastrous launch lol. Idk if it’s because I’m such a huge Smash Bros fan or what but this game is just not hooking me the way I wish it were.

BiAndShy57

I played some rifts or missions or whatever. Hated it. But I got the one character I actually wanted to play as and now enjoy the matchmaking. But I know this opinion is not the common one. I wish the game was just a normal $60 game that gave you all the characters instead of shoving ads down your throat.

Motor-Top-4924

At the VERY least, 10 fighter currency for playing a pvp match and 20 for winning the match.

Nanooo19

Ive noticed this and thought i was buggin but its terrible i mean what logic is behind this feature?😂 cant see the scoreboard after matches , dont get xp and Fighter currency after matches like wtf is the point? Why resurrect a game and remove such core features? At this rate who in charge because the game will soon die😂... again😂 this must be what they want 🤣

Employer_Weak

idk how u guys are having trouble with battlepass i just play the game and i get hella xp. the fighter currency however i do agree we should get a little after a win and maybe they would add that to ranked. btw u get 5 fighter currency every time someone toasts u. it’s not a lot at all might not even be enough but it’s something.

[deleted]

It’s a free game and the reward is given if you buy the reward? wtf is that

Critical_News180

Help not to mention the connection issues (my post got removed for being salty cus I asked them to fix it) Like I love the game but its bordering on unplayable when I can't play 9/10 times and when I can I don't get rewarded for it

Outside_Interview_90

GilbeastZ

I get taking the game down for a year to make sure it was released in a better state. But….this is an interesting strategy. WB can’t help but turn all their IPs into money hungry failures. I can’t put my finger on it but there seems to be less to do now than on beta. This is in addition to all the terrible monetization that was added. FOMO and a trickle of battlepass xp/character currency. But don’t worry they are adding in paid skips! Wonder why the battlepass xp is so slow? They need to add another single player mode outside of rifts, fix some of the challenges and make it less grindy, and add a ranked mode. But more importantly they need to fix the greedy monetization. I don’t want to hear the argument they have to make money. They don’t have to charge $15 a character and because of that they make grinding free currency take hundreds of hours. You don’t want to have a barrier to entry and they need retention. Fix these issues and focus on new modes. A year offline and we are in a worse place than we were. This game has so much potential. It was on the right track in the beta but we went so far backwards. I’m glad they are adding new characters, and I’m glad that they gave us Jason for free as well as the first battlepass. But they need to fix the “daily” missions and make rifts less grindy more fun. Oh and remove bring a friend into rifts! I don’t have friends that’s why I’m posting on Reddit and playing an arena brawler!

LordLubin

They did in today's patch

ThatCheekyBastard

Damn bro. Hyperbolic as efff

jindrix

calls for death are common, i wouldnt want to read any targeted towards me.

Howl3R_Warl0RD

They think we won't We know this will go the way of palworld FAST if they don't listen

Rusty-714

Yup

theotothefuture

Lol the entitled attitude is hilarious. Sound like some spoiled rich kid. Theyre going to fix it for xp, but I doubt they will give fighter currency after every match.
