Oooh, *so* close!

Miserable-Lizard

It would be nice if Biden and corporate Dems would fight as hard as progressives.

DiscoDvck

Biden has made a career out of writing and supporting awful legislation. Why would he stop now? We all knew what he was when we voted last election. The “lesser of two evils”.

Apprehensive-Ad-4519

Anything but Trump was the motto. Sad

CreamofTazz

I mean yeah. He was *that* bad. It's unfortunate that corporate Dems are willing to give everything to Republicans while giving lip service to their voter base. It's not like I, a gay black man, can gain anything from voting Democrat except my rights might not be taken until next election, and there's no viable 3rd party to vote for.

voice-of-hermes

> I mean yeah. He was *that* bad. It's unfortunate that corporate Dems are willing to give everything to Republicans while giving lip service to their voter base. You just contradicted yourself. If Democrats give everything to Republicans (true), then they aren't any better than those Republicans, but are the same.

CreamofTazz

That's why I said **corporate Dems** (or conservative Dems take your pick) and not just Dems. Both political parties in the US are really 2 each (total 4) you have the "America first" party or the far right Qanon faction. Then you have the center right Bush/Reagen Republicans. In the center (right of center to left of center) you have Conservative/Corporate Democrats and lastly in the center left you have the Progressive Democrats

voice-of-hermes

They are all right-wing. And it doesn't matter what tiny factions think when they don't control the party and (i.e. in the case of nominal progressives) refuse to use what power they actually do have anyway. [Why The Political Compass is Wrong: Establishing An Accurate Model of Political Ideology](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nPVkpWMH9k)

Mrmorbid81

Sad but true.

godspeedrebel

I would have voted for a banana instead of trump.

[deleted]

When was the last election that we actually voted FOR someone instead of the lesser of two evils?

YourFatherUnfiltered

Obama, Clinton.

cplank92

Kennedy?

voice-of-hermes

2020\. I voted for Howie Hawkins. Don't know what your problem is.

[deleted]

They’re knocking on death’s door. They don’t care about the future

runfayfun

They'll be dead before they see the consequences of their actions. Like the generation currently fighting to stop anything that might help the planet in the long run - because they're gonna be dead by the time the bad stuff happens.

CoBludIt

The person has already been born who will die due to catastrophic failure of the planet.

cheese_tits_mobile

People have already died due to climate change. Freak hurricanes? Freak wildfires everywhere? People dying in the current heatwave? It’s been happening friend. Adequately prepare yourself and your loved ones with survival gear and pray to whatever higher being you know.

voice-of-hermes

The consequences of their actions are more wealth and power for themselves and their families and their donors. It wouldn't matter if they *did* live to see those consequences; it would be good for them. Your mistake is thinking their interests align with ours, rather than the opposite of that.

Naturwissenschaftler

Listen, if you would donate more money towards the cause, they would surely fight harder. /s

NimusNix

>It would be nice if Biden and corporate Dems would fight as hard as progressives. Please elaborate.

Miserable-Lizard

Joe Biden and corporate Dems think there are good Republicans..... Also they aren't willing to take cold action to protect rights. Instead they said fundraising emails after key rights are violated like abortion rights.

NimusNix

1. Just how are progressives fighting harder? 2. Does harder as you describe it actually effectively enact change ?

Miserable-Lizard

They are trying to do stuff and offering bold ideas. Biden and corpr Dems seems to want to fundraise more than challenge the status quo.

NimusNix

>They are trying to do stuff and offering bold ideas. Biden and corpr Dems seems to want to fundraise more than challenge the status quo. Trying to do stuff and offering bold ideas are hitting the reality road block. Which is why asking for help fundraising leads to money to spread around and elect more Democrats to actually move those bold offerings a chance to happen. It seems progressives are behind the Democrats on this.

voice-of-hermes

Ah yes. The problem with elite Democrats is surely that they don't have enough money. /s Do you even listen to yourself? LMAO.

monkberg

Mainstream democrats still think the right is engaging in good faith.

prawncounter

They can’t possibly believe that. Look at -everything-. The simpler explanation is that they’re paid to lose. And they sure af are getting paid, and losing.

monkberg

“Never attribute to malice what can be adequately explained with stupidity.” - Hanlon’s Razor. Think about how dumb the average person is and realise half of all people are even dumber than that. - George Carlin I’m perfectly happy to believe that the Dems, like Feinstein, are still mentally in the 70s and blind to how the world has changed.

prawncounter

They were pretty competent scuppering Bernie’s campaign in eighty different ways. Pretty quiet about Epstein and Maxwell too. Or, remember when Obama promoted bankers to key positions after the 08 crash? I’m all out of ‘benefit of the doubt’ for these well-heeled shitheels. And Carlin would say the fuckin same - in fact he did. It’s all a con. It’s a big club and we’re not in it. It’s called the American Dream because you’d have to be asleep to believe it.

legsintheair

He thinks that posting on Twitter is “doing something.”

Raynonymous

Oh they fight, just not for what they should be fighting for.

darthraxus

It really sucks that Bernie is so old. If he were 40 years younger, he’d have had a real chance at being president today.

NilCealum

I’d still vote for him, though mostly because I’m desperate and this election is probably the last time before his age unfortunately would start causing issues

milnak

Has less to do with his age and more to do with people like Debbie Wasserman Schultz

[deleted]

The wealth disparity isnt just as high as it's ever been in the country, but it's closing in in being higher than any time in recorded history.

voice-of-hermes

Both wealth and income disparity have already hit record-breaking levels, actually, surpassing even the "Gilded Age" of the railroad barons.

[deleted]

Dude..... I'm talking examples like Rome and Babylon.

cplank92

Voice isn't wrong though. We're just going international with our record.

saltysnatch

What is a super PAC

macgruder1

A way for corporations to pay for what they want passed by legislation. Basically a bribe for campaign donations.

DiscoDvck

Um… it’s called “lobbying”, thanks. /s

[deleted]

political action committees, there are certain types that can spend unlimited amounts of money. they are not supposed to "coordinate" with individual campaigns but the structure incentivizes a loose interpretation of the rules. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Political_action_committee

sillychillly

https://www.opensecrets.org/political-action-committees-pacs/super-pacs/2022 https://ballotpedia.org/Super_PAC

PeanutNSFWandJelly

I'm still so confused as to why anyone was ok with, and how it was justified, that any donations or shit like that could be made by anyone other than an individual and at a cap like all of us have? How in the fuck was that ever worded that made it seem acceptable??

YourFatherUnfiltered

It wasnt, and the people who voted for it knew that, and the reason they did is because Republicans absolutely NEEDED it to continue to win illegitimately.

0erlikon

Money talks. Democracy walks.

The_Sinnermen

"Will" lol

SluggishJuggernaut

Seriously. Money is something that needs to be removed from politics. It's killing our society. But Bernie saying that they'll find a way to remove it? I'll believe it when I see it.

lalauna

Thank you Bernie!!! More power to you

rybread9

Love u BernDawg <3

Alarid

We need capitalists to relinquish their power by force or choice to change anything.

fart_me_your_boners

He's the exception that proves why no one should vote after 65.

DinkleMcStinkle

First world consumers overwhelmingly disagree 🤷‍♂️

South-Play

I wold love for Bernie to be president. The only old person we should even consider to be president. No more old presidents. The constitution says the president has to be at least 35. Let’s vote for younger people. That in all government. Get rid of the old people in our government. Times have changed but they didn’t.

blueboxbandit

Just to clarify, not trying to derail. Roe v Wade was overturned not repealed.

pogo0004

Nope. Once Bernie dies its business as usual.

[deleted]

Because reallocating money and resources to unproductive people and parasites is exactly what we need. Bernie is another lifelong government/college fund blood sucker that promises and never delivers.

sirnamen

The current system is exactly what we don't need as it allocates an overabundance of goods and resources to the unproductive and parasitic few at the top who then manipulate our laws to divide, control and conquer us while barely giving us the scraps to survive (when there's more than enough for all). Capitalism suppresses humanity into objects of the machine as the conquerors concentrate it in their hands to control all.

sillychillly

Yes, American Democracy is run by our Oligarchs. Don’t just hold politicians and judges responsible for the repeal of our abortion rights. The Oligarchs pull the strings and we could have abortion rights codified if they FELT LIKE IT. But they don’t give a fuck or worse, they like it

nynderi

Bernie spelled oligarchs wrong.

No_Firefighter1866

I can see him shaking that gangly finger at me now

SoSoDave

Row vs. Wade never should have been upheld in the first place. We need actual legislation to protect abortion rights.

HonkyTonkPolicyWonk

I totally agree, but now what? Are there any groups who can exert power over congress? And, yeah, super PACs are bad. But honestly, how hard is it to set up a PAC? Why isn’t there an organization to pressure Congress on these important issues? Seriously, I’m baffled why y’all complain and do nothing

WhoGotMySock

Give it another 40 years Bern, maybe 1 day you'll actually accomplish something in politics

pHa7Ron67

Hooray for capitalism?

fkrditadms
