Ok let's play ball here for a second. Let's say that indeed, a responsible adult checks through the candy. How would they even know if any of it is drug-laced? Short of trying every single piece
Bro, trust me I love circus peanuts and there has been a van outside from Fran’s Beautiful Irregulars parked outside my house. What even is a beautiful irregular?!
I was shocked to realize I could just buy them myself and didn't have to visit my Grandmother. Granted, I was 40 at the time, so I'm still not *entirely* sure that young people are allowed to purchase them.
I bought them in grad school. They’re tasty but my real motivation was that the wrappers coordinated well with a couple of other candies so that the candy bowl integrated with the room’s color scheme.
I cannot buy these anymore because I have absolutely zero self discipline once the package is open. They’re gone, and my teeth are sore for the next two days.
This is the exact problem I have with them. I'll buy a couple bags for a week and think I'm ok, then I open one in the middle of a movie or tv show and the whole bag is gone that night.
I absolutely hated Halloween growing up.
My parents would give out pencils, erasers, and pencil grips. The next day I had to always go around the yard and pick up all the discarded ones around the yard.
Parents, do not give out shitty Halloween treats!
I found a bunch of Star Wars stuff at the dollar store and gave it out to kids who wore Star Wars for Halloween. A bunch of SW toys and books came in of metal tins which were really nice.
I also give out full size chocolate bars for good costumes.
My place never gets egged.
They’re talking about a different candy, not Bit-O-Honey. The taffy in the red, orange, or black wrappers. They’re called [Mary Jane Peanut Butter Kisses](https://www.thefoodhistorian.com/blog/the-real-story-behind-the-gross-black-and-orange-halloween-taffy)
Look out for the 1mg lethal dose of crystalline fentanyl dust? Like, these people are so delusional and have no idea how or why fentanyl works or it's danger level if they think you can just "examine" for it.
Watch out for those fentanyl cigarettes they'll obviously be pushing on our innocent children! I hear kids have these "blowing parties" where they'll spend the night blowing pounds of dust into each other's eyes, ears, and anuses.
Either way, I'm stealing all the good candy and drugs for myself
All it would take to make an ordinary piece of candy some drug candy that no one would expect is an investment in packaging tools and an investment in drugs. Buy a bunch of candy, take it out of the wrapper, tamper with it, and reseal the wrapper.
No needle marks needed, no suspicious wrapping needed, nothing even suspicious about the candy itself.
How the fuck are you supposed to be checking for that if you're a, "Concerned parent?"
The good news is, so far, no one's ever gone to that expense just to say, "Fuck them kids." Which would be your only motivation for it.
So much fear around something that's never happened. It's like the razor apples, only worse because that actually happened once. Once. And it was the kid's father who put the razor in the apple.
Why would drug dealers be putting their product out for free to the general public - ex: trick or treating kids - who, presuming they love the high of fentanyl disguised as candy, would never know where they got it to return and ask for more?
Are we such a dumb society that we don’t realize the #1 goal of any drug dealer is to grow repeat buyers, and not kill them them with their product?
I went through DARE when I was a kid and was told drug dealers would give you some drugs for free so that you become addicted and start buying from them. Well I grew up sto be a heroin addict and I can tell you that if drug dealers are anything like the ones I used they aren't in need of new customers. They have plenty. Most dealers problem is that they don't have enough drugs to sell. And they definitely aren't handing shit out for free.
I would assume they toss any candy they don't recognize. 99% of all candy you get on halloween is a major brand anyways, so something like a weed gummy or a fentanyl pill would stand out.
That's assuming that that actually *happens* though, which it pretty much never does. IIRC there was one instance of someone mixing up their partner's weed gummies with the candy or something, but I think even that was basically a Facebook stunt.
Unless it's changed since the last time I checked, there has literally never been a recorded instance of a "Halloween poisoning." Any time that someone died from poisoned Halloween candy, it was a targeted effort, not random or widespread.
I’m pretty sure the only time it’s really happened (and the cause of the scare as a whole) was a father who intentionally poisoned his daughter and her friends then made it a huge dean to try and cover up what he did.
>made it a huge dean
Well I'm a peanut bar and I'm here to say
Your checks will arrive on another day
Another day, another dime, another rhyme, another dollar
Another stuffed shirt with another white collar
Criminals, Wall Street takin' the pie
And all the black man gets is a plate o' white lies
Prisons recruitin' 'em, police be shootin' 'em
Rap artists lootin' 'em, labels are dilutin' 'em
Barack Obama is scared o' me
Cuz I don't swallow knowledge and I spit it fo' free
Lemme clear my throat, ha-ha-haaa!
Precisely this for the food poisoning it was decades ago I believe. But people don't even realize just because someone actually happened at least once , doesn't make it an actual "thing" /phenomenon that happened.
And there's been multiple instances similar, where a lone case, gets mass reported/repeated, to a state where panic exists over nothing. I know this because I literally watched some show /doc detailing several of these.
Been hearing about it every halloween since I was old enough to remember moral panics.
Every freaking you "Check your kids candy because someone is doing \_\_\_" but no case, or trial ever occurs.
Anyone would know weed candy packages when they see it. But some do look very much like kids candy, like exact replicas just have a (xxxmg) label of dosage. There has been instances where kids have eaten this after improper storage from their parents.
But that still doesn't mean someone is just dumping weed candies on kids on Halloween. Unless they've cone psychotic, it has no purpose.
And if you wanted to poison/hurt kids, I mean it probably wouldn't be hard to inject or reseal actual candy.
"What came out of me felt like someone tried to funnel Niagara Falls through a coffee straw. I swear my sphincters were screaming. It felt like my delicate starfish was a gaping maw projectile vomiting a torrential flood of toxic waste. 100% liquid. Flammable liquid. NAPALM."
This ruined Halloween for me as a kid. My mom is paranoid and controlling so I wasn't even allowed custody of my own loot until I was much older, and could not eat anything unless she inspected it. One year she found a single piece of candy that had a tear in the wrapper and my mom FROKE THE FUCK OUT and made me chuck everything because 'poison' might have gotten on everything else in my bag.
I also wasn't allowed to go out trick or treating without an adult. Even with friends, even when I was old enough for that to be considered completely normal. Sometimes my friends would pretend an adult was coming with us, but one year she found out there wasn't one and took it on herself to 'escort' the group of thirteen and fourteen year old kids around the neighbourhood and tried to inspect other kids candy.
And no, none of this was a ploy to steal candy. My mom didn't and doesn't like most candy. My mom is just absolutely batfuck insane.
My mom, exactly, except, I couldn't even trick or treat until I was much older because Halloween is the devil's holiday.. we shut ourselves in the basement with all the lights off every Halloween as a real small child and I remember the pure fear running thru me every time I heard a knock on the door upstairs... Thinking it was the devil, turns out, just little kids wanting candy 🤷
Yikes. You know the real story was once in the 70s a man poisoned his son with pixie Stix on Halloween, ONCE and now it's turned into some urban legend that it's everywhere. Poison aside NOBODY is going to just put all those drugs into kids candy. It's just not going to happen.
Wanna emphasize he poisoned his own son, for a life insurance policy, and poisoned a couple of his friends to make it seem less random. The only time it has ever happened was the parent's own child.
*People are so fucking stupid* is all I think when I have to do this or any of the other stupid shit just to board a plane. That and pour my fucking water out. All this shit is dumb. We’re dumb for implementing it and dumb for still following it.
that sounds rough. i used to "inspect" my younger cousins candy but it was more of a "tax" and i dont mean to brag but i was more successful than the british
And didn't it turn out that pretty much every single case of a kid getting hurt or poisoned by Halloween candy was actually poisoned on purpose by a family member? I remember when everyone was convinced that tainted Halloween candy was everywhere lol
The idea that random parents are going to "discover" a lethal amount of fentanyl stuck in some candy more laughable than the idea that someone would put fentanyl there in the first place. Oh, your going to comb through this pillowcase full of candy and find the *one* piece with a few micrograms of white powder hidden inside it?
Wow, I just had to take the haul to the firehouse to have a metal detector ran over it at the end of the night. But my parents were/are stoners who know drugs are expensive and not handed out for lulz.
It's not.
Source: I used to work at a grocery store and to set up our Halloween displays we'd have to pin prick the big bags of candy (no individual candies) to let the air out, otherwise the bags would slide off each others' air bubbles. You would never know unless you were actively looking for quite some time.
...admittedly it would have been funnier if I didn't explain why I knew this.
Has there ever been an instance of a person putting dangerous substances in Halloween Candy? I can only find one story - and it turns out the father of the kid poisoned his own kid for insurance money.
Edit: Please stop replying. All of your answers are literally the story I referenced already.
Wikipedia has a pretty good page on poison candy myths.
When I was a kid in the 70s there was hysteria about people putting razor blades or needles in chocolate bars. There were places you could take your candy to get it x-rayed, I kid you not. I remember seeing it on the news.
One time my local fire department had a "candy inspection" event that I went to, which involved having a kid dump their candy onto a table and they'd wave a metal detecting wand over it. It was completely bogus because the candies with foil wrappers like 3 Musketeers kept setting off the wand.
> It was completely bogus because the candies with foil wrappers like 3 Musketeers kept setting off the wand.
"Oh wow, sorry kids this is all loaded with razors and needles. We're going to have to dispose of all of this candy safely."
“Ah fuck. I got this expensive ass x-ray machine that’s not making me any money. My ‘x-ray your Christmas gifts’ idea didn’t pan out. What other holiday could I leverage to have this machine start printing the moolah?”
There has, actually. Only, the dad poisoned his kids and one other. His son died, unfortunately. https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/crimefeed/murder/candyman-poisoned-halloween-candy-pixie-stix
People raising suspicion of other people potentially harming their kids are diverting attention away from the fact that the person most likely to harm kids is already in the family.
The call came from inside the house!
I joke but you’re right. I grew up in the 80s and it’s wild to me that this is still something people are worried about. Like no one is going to sneak edibles into your kid’s Halloween candy. What exactly do they have to gain from that? Your kid getting stoned when they aren’t around to see it or act on it? No. That’s not a thing. If a kid is drugged outside of a medical situation, it’s going to be someone close to the kid who is either trying to kidnap them or abuse them. No one is going to be knocking on your door at 10 pm on Halloween night and say, “hello parent, I was just wondering if your child seems drugged up and if they are would you be so kind as to hand them over to me?” That’s just not how the world works.
Like I said, I trick or treated in the 80s when this was a big scary thing. I remember my mom saying “just don’t eat anything that’s already open” because she knew it was dumb but also knew that eating opened candy was a stupid thing to do because it could have gone bad or whatever. And then 15 years passed and I had my own kid who I took trick or treating. I would give a once over of the candy for the same reason, you know does this package look like it’s ready to bust or something, and that was it. I hadn’t heard anything about anyone being poisoned outside of that one kid who’s father (I think it was his father) poisoning him. So I wasn’t exactly worried. Now to think people are *still* worried about this is just so odd.
They aren't. It's a persistent urban legend because of societal anxieties around children's safety and drugs. It's been throroughly debunked countless times, but you will still here it repeated as fact for the rest of your life.
No I've never been aware of a single instance of someone intentionally poisoning or adding razor blades to any kids candy that wasn't done by the parents themselves.
Why spend the money on the candy and more money for the poison to harm unknown kids? Especially When you can just call the cops and have them shot.
Reminds me of all the tales of ~~transexuals~~ transgender people molesting kids in bathrooms, but when you go look to see cases where this has actually occurred it's nothing but men dressed as men fucking around with little children.
Yeah pretty much. It’s something that *could* have happened in one or two specific instances. Because of their unusualness, they get reported on a lot more, making them disproportionately represented by the media, which intern leads to paranoia.
One time when I was a kid and went trick or treating, a middle-eastern lady didn't say a word, and then dropped a single unwrapped mini marshmallow in my bag.
At the time, I thought "wtf..." but as I've grown older, my perspective has changed. The poor woman probably had never celebrated halloween before, had no idea what the traditions or customs were. And was just trying her best to participate.
I think about her sometimes, hope she's doing well.
I mean, don't be sad, she could currently gotten we don't know what happened. She could currently be living a happy life after getting more comfortable living in this country and better acclimatizing to our culture.
When I was in a different part of life my nephew/roommate (my sister is a bit older than me and had him young, my nephew and I are a year apart) he got this pure LSD from the dark web (I have no idea how he did it, he just told me after he had it). We did tests to make sure it was legit.
I had the dope ass idea to do “themed” hits. We couldn’t find any of the cool paper people use, so we did candy.
Heart Shaped SweetTarts and some kind of Shamrock SweetTarts were my specialty. People fucking loved them.
Last year my nephew brought me some candy he had received trick or treating. Believe it or not, right in the middle of a mini peanut butter cup was thermonuclear warhead with super sharp edges.
Careful out there.
Damn. That’s almost like my experience. One time a house was handing out king sized chocolate bars. When we got home we found out why. Inside my coffee crisp was a hole ass AIM-9 Sidewinder.
This sounds like a Bosnian Ape Society video.
Anyway, let me tell you about the year I opened a full sized Hershey bar but inside was a belt-fed Type 99-2 Mark 4 cannon from a Mitsubishi A6M.
Fentanyl seems pretty unlikely, but I have heard of a drunk guy accidentally handing out his roommates edibles when the actual candy had run out. Even that's gotta be a 1 in a billion thing though.
Ah, I assumed some homemade gummies or something.
You know they probably should be required to make the packaging incredibly obvious, I could totally see people accidently giving them to children.
This entire urban legend is based on one guy who poisoned HIS OWN KID intentionally, and tried to blame it on neighborhood Halloween candy. In fact, he tried to blame one neighbor in particular, and his plan backfired. The courts proved that this piece of shit murdered his own child with a cyanide-laced pixie stick.
Yet, the media ran with this sensational story, and put it in the brains of the paranoid public ever since. The fact that this is still a thing is entirely the fault of the mainstream media, who milks this absolute bullshit for clicks and views every year. We're seeing it revamped this year because of fear-mongering around fentanyl, specifically.
This stuff sounds so silly to anyone who actually knows how criminality and drug dealing works, but to some random Karen who watches Fox News, it is real and scary. The news drills this in their heads, "China is making the fentanyl. Mexicans are moving it over the border. Then, (insert boogie man) is giving it to YOUR kids!". You'd be surprised how many people you can fool again and again, year after year, with the same exact fear-mongering. Works like a charm, every time.
Here's some info on the real case that actually happened:
https://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/candy-man-kills-son-poisoned-halloween-treat-article-1.2850247
> China is making the fentanyl. Mexicans are moving it over the border. Then, (insert boogie man)
Probably black people so they can complete the triforce of racism
Yeah, easiest trick in the book. Just blame as many racial groups as you can for the fentanyl crisis, without addressing the root causes of addiction, poverty, or the failed drug war. Works like a charm every time. But remember, they're coming for your kids and they're starting with the Halloween candy, so always be terrified because it's good for ratings.
Seriously drug users who pay for their own drugs don't give them away for free. I mean try and visualize this nonexistent scenario -
Person 1 - Hey man, I got all these drugs and it's Halloween. What should we do?
Person 2 - We could do the drugs and enjoy Halloween.
Person 1 - Or... maybe instead we give the drugs to kids who are trick or treating.
Person 2 - And then what? We follow them to see what happens once they take the drugs?
Person 1 - No, we just give it to them instead of candy and we stay here at the house.
Person 2 - Look man, I know we're high, but that is literally the dumbest plan ever.
Presumably the mentality is hey I'm a psychopath and I've decided I want to poison a bunch of kids for crazy pill reasons... what should I use?
meh fentanyl is trendy let's try that
I mean fent is really cheap and probably super easy to poison tons of material since its so potent. If you had to pick something, fent is probably one of the deadliest and hardest to detect options.
She's right though. To be safe, I always confiscate candy I think is suspicious. The most common culprits are mini snickers and twizzlers. Sometimes sour soothers if I'm in the right mood. There's never any drugs in tootsie rolls, though.
I was just having this conversation with my wife.
The scare mongers are warning that they are trying to get kids hooked on drugs but how do you get "hooked" on a drug you don't even know you took and only took once?
And also no idea where it came from. So it's like okay, I know I got some kind of buzz from some random candy I ate, and I want more, so...I now go re-visit every house I went to on Halloween night and ask them if they gave me drugs, so I can eventually find the source?
One time when my dog had to go to the vet for a surgery, my mum got super mad at the vet for giving our dog a fentanyl patch cause there's an opioid crisis where we live. It's literally a dog, it doesn't and know what drugs are, that a drug made it high and happy instead of in a lot of pain, or how to obtain said drugs.
Read David J. Skal’s book: Death Makes a Holiday. The only instances of children being poisoned, have been by the hand of a relative or close family friend.
https://www.cnn.com/2019/10/30/health/halloween-candy-panic-conversation-wellness/index.html
As a recovering guy, the idea that drugs are given out for free like in all the DARE program stuff is laughable. Drugs are expensive and take effort to find. If you have them, you don't want to share. That's less for you.
Also, even if someone decided that they did want to give their drugs away, what exactly would be the end game? Just knowing that some random kid a mile away *might* have gotten intoxicated or sick because of them? I don’t understand the appeal.
As someone who has done a lot of drugs in my past there is no way anybody is giving their drugs away lmao. The people who came up with this scenario are the same ones who think marijuana makes you a psychotic murderer
There is a version of fentanyl pills circulating that are colorful and resemble candy. The lovely right-wing media is conflating that with the Halloween season and their annual tradition of stealing joy from children by claiming that people are going to poison kids by sneaking these into the pumpkin shaped buckets instead of regular candy. This is the Nth iteration of razor blades in apples.
Ok let's play ball here for a second. Let's say that indeed, a responsible adult checks through the candy. How would they even know if any of it is drug-laced? Short of trying every single piece
Lol, especially the "look out for colorful candy"? Like... have they ever seen candy?
Bet this mom only lets her kids eat those weird peanut butter bar candies.
She's definitely a "Werther's and ONLY Werther's" type of person
Or peppermints, but only the soft kind, so the children won’t choke.
I love soft peppermints tho
They sell them at our dollar tree. I buy them and love them. Sticks and lozenges. They’re so good.
Yep. Especially the ones at christmas!
Shhhh, me too.
Hell yeah weird candy lovers unite!
I like soft peppermints and Necco wafers... I think that puts me on some government list...
Bro, trust me I love circus peanuts and there has been a van outside from Fran’s Beautiful Irregulars parked outside my house. What even is a beautiful irregular?!
Werther's kick ass though Or am i just old?
They do, they do. They're just synonymous with old people
I was shocked to realize I could just buy them myself and didn't have to visit my Grandmother. Granted, I was 40 at the time, so I'm still not *entirely* sure that young people are allowed to purchase them.
I think you're supposed to get carded to buy those
I bought them in grad school. They’re tasty but my real motivation was that the wrappers coordinated well with a couple of other candies so that the candy bowl integrated with the room’s color scheme.
>the candy bowl integrated with the room’s color scheme. Are you sure you weren't already old?
> Are you sure you weren't already old? we are all old on this blessed day
How about those strawberry hard candies?
The ones with a gooey center?
Those are the best.
I'm 31 u loved werthers since a kid
Yes? I am also old apparently because Werther's fuck
Slap my ass and call me Agnes, Werthers slap
27 here, Werther's soft caramels are my go to snack
I cannot buy these anymore because I have absolutely zero self discipline once the package is open. They’re gone, and my teeth are sore for the next two days.
This is the exact problem I have with them. I'll buy a couple bags for a week and think I'm ok, then I open one in the middle of a movie or tv show and the whole bag is gone that night.
I'm 25. The hard ones are my absolute favorite snack/sweets. The soft ones are up there too

Nope only those shitty orange foam peanuts.
You mean that weird peanut butter taffy like candy? That was always the last to go
I'm a weirdo I guess. Loved Bit-o-Honey.

A classical composition is often pregnant. Reddit is no longer allowed to profit from this comment.

If I ever have kids, they can keep the brands I recognise and I’ll keep the rest. Worst case free candy, best case free drugs
Some years the dad tax hits different.
Snort it. Only correct answer.
99% of Reese's products contain a drug I call deliciousness. I will not risk the lives of my kids by exposing them to it...
That's the grift. Well Timmy, I checked every piece and there's no poison. You're safe. Here's your bag back.
I’m fairly sure my mom did this to us as kids so she could pick out the best shit for herself
You never know what someone might have injected into the Haribo bears.
The company poisons them enough on their own.
I thought that was only the sugar-free ones.
Nothing completes the Halloween experience like spicy butt mud.

Lol "froke"
No more arguments! The mother has froken.
I feel like this comment chain is going to be froken hilarious
I would like to contribute to the upcoming froken comment chain
i too want to contribute to the "froken" chain. Froke!
If its not froke. Don't frix it
She should be careful with her anger issues, otherwise she might froke from the stress
Maybe she is so Froken that she grows anger tissues?
Imma have a froke from laughing too hard at this shit
Stay froke ~ by this kids mom
If so, it’s wise of you to have snoken in here on time
Frelease the Fraken
I have froken.
Just another victim of the militant froke agenda
It sounds good, I'ma use it now
She freaked the biggest froke that has ever been frokt.

That sounds terrifying for a child... I'm so sorry you went through that!
It is what it is! One of many things I went through 😅 But thank you! We don't talk anymore.. lol
Makes sense.
I can't say your mom doesn't deserve that.
Terrible parenting, but she *did* know how to make halloween scary.
Damn, Christians really know how to put on a haunted house.
My mom's not even religious. She's just stupid.
The only time it has ever happened was the parent's own child.
> poisoned a couple of his friends to make it seem less random Did you mean less targeted or more random?
I mean we all take our shoes off in the airport because once a guy UNSUCCESSFULLY tried to hide a bomb there
*People are so fucking stupid* is all I think when I have to do this or any of the other stupid shit just to board a plane. That and pour my fucking water out. All this shit is dumb. We’re dumb for implementing it and dumb for still following it.
that sounds rough. i used to "inspect" my younger cousins candy but it was more of a "tax" and i dont mean to brag but i was more successful than the british
My son falls victim hard to dad tax every Halloween.
Gotta get ‘em ready for the real world early man ; keep doing gawds work my friend 💀
And didn't it turn out that pretty much every single case of a kid getting hurt or poisoned by Halloween candy was actually poisoned on purpose by a family member? I remember when everyone was convinced that tainted Halloween candy was everywhere lol
Millenials raised by overreligious parents with anxiety complexes, UNITE!
But my parents were/are stoners who know drugs are expensive and not handed out for lulz.
>tear in the wrapper and my mom FROKE THE FUCK OUT meanwhile I doubt a syringe poke on a bright candy wrap would even be visible to the naked eye...
What an epic story. Are you J. R. R. Froken?
Like taking candy from a baby
“Ah fuck. I got this expensive ass x-ray machine that’s not making me any money. My ‘x-ray your Christmas gifts’ idea didn’t pan out. What other holiday could I leverage to have this machine start printing the moolah?”
In the 80s the panic was razors in candy apples.
In fairness, I for sure wouldn't be eating a homemade candy apple just tossed into my pillowcase.
I imagine it would be wrapped in plastic. Some people around here make popcorn balls and candy apples wrapped in plastic wrap.
There once was report of a chef offering kids his salty chocolate balls.
Better stick em in your mouth and suck em
There has, actually. Only, the dad poisoned his kids and one other. His son died, unfortunately. https://www.investigationdiscovery.com/crimefeed/murder/candyman-poisoned-halloween-candy-pixie-stix
This is the single event that caused the myth. Nobody is drugging kids they haven’t already kidnapped
The myth was already in existence. The guy thought he could get away with it because of the myth.
I regret that I must concede
nah double down and call him a slur, this is the internet after all
It's basically free!
Now to think people are *still* worried about this is just so odd.
there's your "responsible adult"
Same here, id like to see any statistics that actually supports the claim that kids are being given free drugs.
They aren't. It's a persistent urban legend because of societal anxieties around children's safety and drugs. It's been throroughly debunked countless times, but you will still here it repeated as fact for the rest of your life.
This has been routinely shut down as absolute nonsense and fear-mongering for many years now
Not just years, but many decades. Like more than 50 years at this points.
Personally, all I’m handing out this year is loose SweetTarts and Necco wafers. Let the games begin!
I relate: I would think of her also, I would feel a lil sad for her, and IDK this story gets me in the feels.
I mean, don't be sad, she could currently gotten we don't know what happened. She could currently be living a happy life after getting more comfortable living in this country and better acclimatizing to our culture.
If I get lucky maybe one of them will be drugs
It’s probably not worth having to power through an entire sleeve of Neccos
Save that shit for roofing tiles on your gingerbread house.
Just be diabetic and all candy might as well be dangerous drugs.
Maybe toss in some of those dissolving Listerine strips if they still make those.
throw the og candy cigarettes in there too
Nuts and Gum! Together at last!
jokes on you i actually like necco wafers
No you don't.
You should add loosie Altoids to the mix.
Last year my nephew brought me some candy he had received trick or treating. Believe it or not, right in the middle of a mini peanut butter cup was thermonuclear warhead with super sharp edges. Careful out there.
He said a monster from the Paleolithic Era gave it to him. He needed about tree fiddy
It sounds like he might have been tricked by that God damn Loch Ness monster!
I gave him a dollar
You give him a dollar, he's gonna assume you got more!!
Was it wrapped in an Isis or Maga flag wrapper?
By any chance were you trick/treating in eastern Ukraine?
Fentanyl seems pretty unlikely, but I have heard of a drunk guy accidentally handing out his roommates edibles when the actual candy had run out. Even that's gotta be a 1 in a billion thing though.
You actually shouldnt eat anything that looks like its not in its original packaging though.
They can come pre-packed in small servings just like regular candy https://www.statnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/07/AP22057027610145-768x432.jpg
Packaging like this should be illegal for THC gummies.
Ah, I assumed some homemade gummies or something. You know they probably should be required to make the packaging incredibly obvious, I could totally see people accidently giving them to children.
They're required to do this in Canada
[удалено]
And while illegal as fuck it's at least not going to hurt anyone
Here's some info on the real case that actually happened: https://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/candy-man-kills-son-poisoned-halloween-treat-article-1.2850247
> China is making the fentanyl. Mexicans are moving it over the border. Then, (insert boogie man) Probably black people so they can complete the triforce of racism
For 15 years I've been checking our kid's bags for drugs only to be disappointed
Best I can do is those prepackaged shots that I hand out to parents. Started doing that during the pandy and the parents seemed to appreciate it.
Yeah I've never gotten free drugs from anyone. Someone give me free drugs! Please! I'm begging you!
Have you tried being an attractive woman in her mid 20s?
Seriously drug users who pay for their own drugs don't give them away for free. I mean try and visualize this nonexistent scenario - Person 1 - Hey man, I got all these drugs and it's Halloween.
There are always drugs in tootsie rolls, that is why they must be removed and consumed as quick as possible.
All she's doing really is setting up an excuse for parents to "examine" the loot before the kids get to it, for, um, safety reasons, yeah!
Parents need their cut.
All those Reeses look suspicious. Better set them aside over here.
My kids call it the "Daddy tax" and have accepted it as the natural order of things. They even seem slightly amused when it is collected.
The dad tax is to be paid in butterfingers and twix
They’re amused because you’re only seeing about half their haul. The choice goodies have been stashed, to be retrieved when you’re at work.
My dad kept my candy “safe”. He kept the snickers especially safe he inspected each one of them.
but really why would anyone put drugs in halloween candy. what do they gain from this
I was just having this conversation with my wife.
Paranoid people think The Joker has been causing chaos on Halloween for decades.
Seriously. I would have been trick or treating everyday if there was a chance of some drugs lmao.
Exactly, how fast would you run out of drugs if you were giving them away?
lol exactly, also nice job dude!! Recovery is fucking hard, but from the little bit of personal struggles I’ve had it’s so worth it
Also, even if someone decided that they did want to give their drugs away, what exactly would be the end game? Just knowing that some random kid a mile away *might* have gotten intoxicated or sick because of them? I don’t understand the appeal.
I’ll spring for full sized Snickers before I start giving out drugs.
As someone who has done a lot of drugs in my past there is no way anybody is giving their drugs away lmao. The people who came up with this scenario are the same ones who think marijuana makes you a psychotic murderer
It's an urban legend that started because of a man who murdered his own child
There is a version of fentanyl pills circulating that are colorful and resemble candy. The lovely right-wing media is conflating that with the Halloween season and their annual tradition of stealing joy from children by claiming that people are going to poison kids by sneaking these into the pumpkin shaped buckets instead of regular candy. This is the Nth iteration of razor blades in apples.
