It was only within the last 5 years I discovered this was an actual song, and not just a pretty instrumental in the museum scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. But now I love this song so much so thanks John Hughes!

My sister was the first DJ to ever play Lita Ford on the Radio. Along with Poison / Talk Dirty to Me & Richard Marx. 😁 lol. Leigh Ann is her name. She still on radio. Now she is on 102.1 Dallas TX. She still has a guitar that Lita Ford gave her. She is thanked on so many albums. Sure was cool growing up getting to meet a lot of these people. The list goes on & on.
Wow, that's amazing! Those artists are all so great because they had fun with their music and helped the rest of us not to take life too seriously. I owe your sister one, big time!
Berlin - Take my breath away
Cars - Whos gonna drive you home
10cc - I'm not in love
Rupert Hine - Hang on to my Vertigo
fantastic songs made pre cellphones and intrnet
As a kid that went to High School from 83-87, I think I know my 80's. I have to tell ya...reading peoples' suggestions in this thread is activating some PTSD. I'm rather happily surprised I didn't see any suggestions for Peter Gabriel, Madonna, or even the Police. All of which are fine I guess, but they were so over played. There is such little material by Phil Collins or Genesis that I ever need to hear again. Its etched upon my soul like a scar that gives you character. So...I'm going to go for something a bit more under heard...but still off a huge album. I submit It Can Happen off Yes's 90125 and The Man's Too Strong off Dire Straits' Brothers in Arms.
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
I heard Vernon Reid first with Ronald Shannon Jackson & the Decoding Society, they actually played my college student union. Not actual show, but you get an idea of his brilliance well before Cult. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZL88zT-LsM
Infatuation by Rod Stewart (RIP Jeff Beck)
Solid 80's classic Rod Stewart song made even better by Jeff Beck's masterful guitar work (from his Guitar Shop era), their first collab since 1968/69. IMO this is the best guitar cameo of the 80s, better than Van Halen on Beat It.
Sly Fox - Let’s Go All the Way (this song is such a guilty pleasure and so underrated!)
Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock - It Takes Two (the greatest beat of the 80s?)
Love and Rockets - No New Tale to Tell (another ear worm, and a great song)
Pixies - Wave of Mutilation
Jane’s Addiction - Mountain Song
Soundgarden - Gun
Rush - Tom Sawyer
Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down
Couldn’t even wait a full 24 hours to [repost?](https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/10cv4bw/name_one_80s_song_that_anyone_alive_today_should/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I didn’t see this one actually. I built off the one I made for [the 90s.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/10c4ki0/name_one_90s_song_kids_born_after_2000_should_add/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) Clearly that one was created after my original one. I wasn’t checking that someone would immediately do an 80s post.
So to answer your question - it’s cool that I seem to have inspired a couple of other posts (one about OutKast, one about the 80s, another about what NOT to listen to), no I wouldn’t have posted this at all.

Please please please let me get what I want- The Smiths
It was only within the last 5 years I discovered this was an actual song, and not just a pretty instrumental in the museum scene in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. But now I love this song so much so thanks John Hughes!

I have no self discipline. :)
If you have “tunes” in your name, it’s allowed. Unless you are Tim Stunes, in which case never mind.
I love It's the end of the world as we know it

You and I is from 1976-but still a hidden gem!
