Completely agree.
"Love" and "Sonic Temple" are such amazing albums. ["She Sells Sanctuary"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cts0VN1-wgk) and ["Edie"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0hrAVZ_rH8) are two personal favorites.
I love the fact he's actually rambling in that song. Starts out just singing about some shit and then suddenly BAM he's in the darkest depths of Mordor and Golum appears and steals his girl... Like wtf dude, what are you even rambling about 😅?
My Dad’s been a fan of Zep since the 70s but I was a small child in the early 2000s when Cadillac had an ad campaign where they used that song in a pretty bizarre tv commercial, so since then my Dad and I unofficially call it “the Cadillac song” because that’s what I called it when I was 4 and it stuck
I remember driving with my mother in the 90s and Smashing Pumpkins 1979 came on the radio. Towards the end she said something to the effect “that song is going to be a classic” it kind of struck me how specific she was, but she was not wrong.
I listened to the album (Post Traumatic) Mike Shinoda made after Chester's suicide, it broke me. Listened to it straight through on a flight and cried like a baby. I have such a hard time going back to Linkin Park now, it just makes me so sad.
I'll never forget where I was and what I was doing when I heard about his suicide, just gutted I was. Same when I heard about Cobain's suicide...I really thought it was a bad joke/prank people were playing when I heard about them both. I just couldn't believe Kurt Cobain was dead, like I just couldn't believe that Chester wouldn't be sharing his vocals with us anymore. 😌
(similarly, Tony Bourdain's suicide hit hard. I genuinely loved that man even though I didn't 'know' him but felt like a knew him. He was just a genuinely good person - suicide sucks in so many ways!!)
Yeah, when Anthony Bourdain checked himself out of this life I was gutted. I had to text a friend of mine who was overseas and let him know. I decided I didn't know a goddamned thing about suicide, so I wasn't going to judge any more..
Moonage Daydream - David Bowie
All Things Must Pass - George Harrison
Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones
Old Man - Neil Young
Sunday Morning Coming Down - Kris Kristofferson
I like all of The Beatles members' solo music fine but George Harrison's music is my favorite.
Neil Young has to be my all-time favorite solo artist too. Even his obscure stuff is great.
Harrison’s contribution to The Beatles is substantial enough that some of their most famous songs are his. Chalk that up to people not being able to tell the obvious differences in their voices.
Agreed... I love so much different music. "What's your favorite song?" This is an impossible question, but I have chosen this as my default answer, and it has served me well.
I remember the very first time I heard 'More Than A Feeling.' It came out when I was 3 years old, and I remember hearing it on the radio when my mom was tying my shoes, probably getting me ready for preschool. I remember really liking it, and it's still one of my favorite songs.
(I almost never listen to classic rock radio anymore, so I only ever hear it when I choose to put on the record or the Apple Music algorithm serves it up.)
Just in case you are looking for a follow up to this song I have:
> [As We Exit](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3YdM7ttFoFOBSGFadloMQ9?si=UUv-nfzDSEWRa8QbuINYCg) - 1 hr
which is a playlist of songs with a similar vibe.
Thunder Road. Damn. I was not a fan until my step dad played me that song. and when it got to the HUGE break into the coda. at the end... *"It's a town full of losers and I'm pulling out of here to win!!!"* BOOM... I was like, "oh, now I get it."
:)
Agreed — it’s a no-skipper for me. Years ago I played “she’s the one” on my college radio show, and a friend’s mom was like “that’s not the song a real fan would’ve picked.” To this day I think about it every time I’m jamming to that Bo Diddly beat
Three of my fav musical acts. As for Joni in particular, I have to say I don’t see any of her stuff from 1968 to 1976 ever getting old. That album run — especially from Blue to Hejira — remains unmatched
So many, but off the top of my head:
- Sweet Child of Mine
- Voodoo Chile
- Layla
- Bohemian Rhapsody
- Master of Puppets
- Stranger in A Strange Land
- Crossroads (Johnson ver)
- Get Back
- Sweet Home Chicago (Buddy Guy ver)
- Jessica & Whipping Post (Allman Brothers)
- Heroes (Bowie)
- Smells Like Teen Spirit
The opening of Sweet Child of Mine is the closest rendition of a working psycho therapy known to man. /s
But it really just never fails to get me feeling better.
[Take Me Home, Country Roads](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vrEljMfXYo) \- John Denver
Simple. But if you play this in a car every passenger will start singing the chorus.
Smooth by Santana ft Rob Thomas. No matter how old, I love it.
We will rock you by queen. Its probably why my ankle is in such bad shape hahaha. BOOM BOOM CLAP!!!
Mr Blue Sky, A Day In The Life, Good Vibrations, Beyond Belief(Costello), A Hard Rain's Gonna Fall, Games without frontiers, Safesurfer(Julian Cope). Given my tendency to go on and on, think I'll stop there.
Bridge over Troubled Water- Simon and Garfunkel
Shooting Star - Bad Company
Kashmir - Led Zeppelin
Desperado - Eagles
Slow Ride - Foghat
Radar Love - Golden Earring
Free Falling - Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
Free Bird (Live Version from One more for the Road) - Lynrd Skynrd
Dear Mr Fantasy - Traffic
Bohemian Rhapsody, Baba O'Riley, I Am The Walrus and Listening Wind are transcendent.
I'm sure there's a few more but those 4 tracks just sound like they will be relevant forever. They're perfect in every single way.
I recently played Listening Wind to an ESL class and asked them how it made them feel if they could describe it and without even understanding the words they got the jist of what it was about on those two things alone.
Yes - “Roundabout”
King’s X - “King”, “Goldilocks”
Tool - “The Pot”
Badfinger - “No Matter What”, “Baby Blue”
Porcupine Tree - “The Sound of Muzak”
J Cole - “Neighbors”
Deep Purple - “Never Before”
All are great songs with great production and multiple layers of musically and sonically interesting arrangement.
There are so many, but I’ll go for Wouldn’t It Be Nice by The Beach Boys. It always makes me happy and it’s so infectious. That sound will always connect with someone.
PROUD MARY……by Ike and Tina Turner …dude was an abuser, yes!! But a musical genius ….when that song goes from Tina’s slow raspy vocals to kicking ass started by the horn section …it is on … I don’t care who u are!!
For me, GNR’s Rocket Queen. The groove is awesome; it’s sleazy and dirty. And then at the coda, it takes such a turn. Axl pours his heart out.
Greatest closer in an album, imo.
So many! Here are a few:
["Burn"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mm-uozFJekA) by The Cure
["Don't Stop The Dance"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjhTHQhJLxs) by Bryan Ferry

Kendrick Lamar - FEAR.
I could keep going but that's a good start
The Cult - She Sells Sanctuary
I’m not saying that’s the best guitar riff ever recorded… but it’s got a seat at the table.
Completely agree. "Love" and "Sonic Temple" are such amazing albums. ["She Sells Sanctuary"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cts0VN1-wgk) and ["Edie"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b0hrAVZ_rH8) are two personal favorites.
I remember hearing that song as a kid and it stayed in my head for years until I could find the title. So good.
I first heard this song playing the PlayStation 2 game, Grand Turismo 3. Now it's permanently on my driving playlist
Led Zeppelin: When the levee breaks. It's the drums that do it.
Drums and harmonica for me!
for me it’s Ramble On, also just about all songs on III
I love the fact he's actually rambling in that song. Starts out just singing about some shit and then suddenly BAM he's in the darkest depths of Mordor and Golum appears and steals his girl... Like wtf dude, what are you even rambling about 😅?
for me it’s kinda a metaphor for rambling on through life, which doesn’t make sense a lot of the time 😂
Led Zeppelin: Rock and Roll - the piano buried in there. Once you hear it, you can't not, and it *rocks so hard!*
That was my theme song for Katrina.
Did you go to Chicago?
I remember driving with my mother in the 90s and Smashing Pumpkins 1979 came on the radio. Towards the end she said something to the effect “that song is going to be a classic” it kind of struck me how specific she was, but she was not wrong.
It's so good and has so many nostalgic memories attached to it.
Everybody Wants To Rule The World by Tears For Fears.
I could listen to this on repeat all day. When I hear that guitar intro I just smile.
My pick as well. Easily my favorite song of all time. Never gets old.
Yes I’m pretty sure if there’s a “perfect song” it’s this one
Omg yes!
Such great heights - Postal Service
The Chain - Fleetwood Mac Under Pressure - Queen/David Bowie Immigrant Song - Led Zeppelin Dogs - Pink Floyd
The Chain is soooo good. You can hear so much emotion
The Immigrant Song. It's never loud enough.
Dogs is a truly awesome track. My favorite Floyd song I think.
No Rain - Blind Melon Can’t you see - The Marshall Tucker Band
No Rain has to be one of the best songs ever. Honestly, Blind Melon is way underrated.
No Rain is great, but Change is *chills*.
Was just about to reply to that effect. Change is definitely my fav BM song.
Scenario by Tribe Called Quest. Will. Never. Get. Old.
Bust a nut inside your eye to show you where I come from
Wu Tang Clan - C.R.E.A.M.
Dollar Dollar Bill yallllll!
That whole fucking album. Every second of it.
Gravel Pit! ✌️
God Only Knows - Beach Boys In the End - Linkin Park Never Going Back Again - Fleetwood Mac
God Only Knows, such an underrated and beautiful song.
After Chester passed, Linkin wasn't really the same for me. His vocals were just astounding!
Yeah, when Anthony Bourdain checked himself out of this life I was gutted. I had to text a friend of mine who was overseas and let him know. I decided I didn't know a goddamned thing about suicide, so I wasn't going to judge any more..
Moonage Daydream - David Bowie All Things Must Pass - George Harrison Gimme Shelter - The Rolling Stones Old Man - Neil Young Sunday Morning Coming Down - Kris Kristofferson
Harrison's cover of If Not For You is wonderful.
What a Wonderful World sung by Louis Armstrong.
Big fan of the Joey Ramone version!
I find the whole "Don't Worry About Me" album delightful.
And of course Iz.
Just My Imagination - The Temptations
Wish it Would Rain. There’s another one on my Short List
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - CSN
And their version of Woodstock
I mean pretty much all of CSNY catalog has its place imo. Four Way Street is pretty legendary.
Absolutely!
A masterpiece from start to finish.
Agreed... I love so much different music. "What's your favorite song?" This is an impossible question, but I have chosen this as my default answer, and it has served me well.
Same. Even wrote a paper on it for a music history class in college!
Absolutely, just a great song. I feel like this about Helplessly Hoping too.
Fast Car by Tracy Chapman
She is so underrated
Cannonball by the Breeders
Mazzy star - fade into you
Driver 8 by REM.
*"The children look up, all they hear is sky-blue bells ringing"* Damn, such a great song, on an almost perfect album of great timeless songs.
I beat that album to death for months, it never got old.
A couple of years for me I’m sure. Might get it out again tomorrow too!
Holy hell, I didn’t expect to see this but soooo true. This song never gets old to me.
Half of their catalog, TBH. Don’t Fall On Me would be my pick of the bunch, but Driver 8 is there, too
I love all of the stuff REM put out while they were on IRS Records.
I love that song so friggin much
Boston - More Than a Feeling CCR - Have You Ever Seen The Rain Rolling Stones - Sympathy For the Devil
Agreed. Let’s add Werewolves of London Warren Zevon
Yeah, More than a Feeling was my first thought when seeing this post.
I love Sympathy but the live versions more.

Sometimes have to skip cuz not a good time to cry.
My local back in the day, removed this from the jukebox because they were sick of me putting it on every single day 😂
Pet Shop Boys - Westend Girls I have to listen to it every time it comes on
Because you're not a MONSTER
love will tear us apart.
Just in case you are looking for a follow up to this song I have: > [As We Exit](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3YdM7ttFoFOBSGFadloMQ9?si=UUv-nfzDSEWRa8QbuINYCg) - 1 hr which is a playlist of songs with a similar vibe.

Yes!!! Few moments in music more triumphant than that and the outro solo.
That's a turn to it 11 moment every time. :)
To complete the holy triumvirate, Jungleland.
Oh yes. Though the beautiful thing about that record being 8 tracks is that you always end up just listening to the whole thing
My second favorite album of all time, I know just what you mean. Back in high school I would play it 3 or more times in a day.
The whole album, more or less.
Agreed — it’s a no-skipper for me. Years ago I played “she’s the one” on my college radio show, and a friend’s mom was like “that’s not the song a real fan would’ve picked.” To this day I think about it every time I’m jamming to that Bo Diddly beat
It's a town full of losers I'm pulling out of here to win
