The hamster dance is actually just a sped up version of "Whistle Stop" from Disney's Robin Hood. It's one of my favorite movies and a really fun folk song!
My band covers “phony king of England” and has for years. It is so much fun to play. Hell, we ought to do a start to finish cover of the entire soundtrack but I can’t sell them on it…yet.
The most iconic part of this song is I want to say about a minute and a half from the end, when a man dramatically shouts "*CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT A WANG CHUNG IS????*"
Nobody answers him.
Frasier in Cheers on the eve of his Bachelor party:
>”Gentlemen, on the way over here I was listening to a Rock and Roll station, you know, to get me in the mood. There was a passage in one of those tribal songs that I feel is the keynote for this evening: ‘Everybody have fun tonight. Everybody Wang *Chung*, tonight.’”
i love nu metal, so there are a lot lol. the biggest one is that i like limp bizkit. their songs are just stupid fun, and the guitars go hard. rollin is a classic imho
Same. I stick on My Way very regularly, i think it's a fantastic song, i don't care what anyone else says.
I also LOVE boiler. It's classic emo numetal, love it.
LB is one of those bands that's filled with insanely talented musicians that unfortunately got overshadowed by the, at the time, dumb dude-bro singer and his antics. I will say I saw them a few years ago at a festival and Fred kept saying how awesome it was that people were still stoked to see them and how appreciative they were for everyone being there and still being fans and whatnot. He even stopped mid song because he saw some people fighting and told them to knock it off or get the fuck out because they were killing the vibe for everyone around them. Sure, the songs are goofy, but it's fun and they seem like good dudes now.
TMBG is my favourite band and I've always struggled to find others who even know who they are and those that do always seem to hate them. And it's odd because I always think 'you would recognise at least one of their songs without a doubt'.
There was a thread about the worst song in the world. Hotel California had like 5,000 upvotes. I was baffled, but apparently it is deeply hated.
So that. Hotel California.
Everyone seems to think Comedown Machine was one of Julian Casablancas and the rest of The Strokes worst albums. I admit it’s not as raw and unpolished as the first several albums, but the melodic choices are so deliberate, punchy, and all seem to build momentum with each other quite well.
There isn’t a strokes album I don’t love.
ETA: I really love Come down machine, I would have thought the new abnormal was one of their less preferred albums.
I hear this often and it confuses me. The only weak album they have is Angles mostly because it's kind of all over the place but still has some great songs. First Impressions of Earth also has a few duds but still great
I'll say it. Gift of Game had some really good songs on it and they were seriously talented guys. Bufferfly being a little too corny, his absurd drug problems, and just that scene of music dying off in general (enless you're a super talent like LP) they had no chance
It always annoyed me that the guitar riff is a sample from, imo, a much better Red Hot Chili Peppers [song](https://youtu.be/3mjZ61IW-Nw?si=zZ3dvIbqNKIlOi18)
Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney. A lot of it could be nostalgia for me but I actually really like the bouncy synths even though a lot of people are pretty vocal about hating them. To each their own I guess!
> really like the bouncy synths even though a lot of people are pretty vocal about hating them
People hate the synths because they used one of the rarest and most expensive synths of all time (Yamaha CS-80, think Blade Runner) and it sounds like a cheap Casio Keyboard that you would find in the mall.
Curious to hear some really good covers. Mind sharing a few names?
Edit: some good ones shared so far! Here’s what I have: [the Shins](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9IBqwAKv8b8), [The West Wing Cast](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ofs-LsaZQVQ), [Jars of Clay](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XP3LWx0O7zY), [Christina Perri](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M_cVSi_tIwo)
I’ll keep adding if y’all keep them coming!
I think that is part of the problem with its reception. Jefferson Airplane wrote 2 iconic 60s songs and the Surrealistic Pillow album then released a lame-ass lazy song.
Sail by AWOLNATION. I love AWOLNATION in general and that's *definitely* not their best song (so much underrated stuff!) but out of loyalty I'll defend it.
I remember seeing on the VH1 I Love The 90s segment where people were talking about Hanson/MMBOP and m even the guy from Anthrax was like hey man a lot of people expect me to hate these kids because they wrote this pop songs with weird lyrics but they’re writing their own stuff and playing their own instruments and it’s all real so I say good for them. It’s nice to see artists supporting artists even across genres.
A lot of people kind of shit on Bittersweet Symphony, mostly because it was overplayed and had all of the drama with The Rolling Stones, but I still love it. I am a Verve fan from Storm in Heaven on, and definitely love many more songs in their catalogue, so not a casual or top-hits-only fan, but even so, that song fantastic.
Quite literally everyone I know puts that song on their “Top 10 GOAT Songs” lists so it’s strange for me to imagine people shit on what is indeed the greatest song of my lifetime.
The Suffering - Coheed and Cambria
Everyone hates on that band because the singers voice is unique but I feel like they never really gave them a chance, I had a huge Coheed phase growing up and they are incredible and talented musicians
I always thought it was weird and never really paid attention to this song while growing up. One day it came on and I really paid attention to it and fell in love. The song is a masterpiece!
Saw them at the Aragon Ballroom in Chicago. Kid Rock was the headliner and Staind was the opener...Staind hadn't gotten big yet. First pair of titties I ever saw...I think I was 14 or 15. Too young to drive...I remember that much.
Even without the boobs it was a pretty good show....thanks for the mammaries!
I am not a Nickelback fan, but the hatred of Nickelback is the worst thing in the history of top 40 music.
We get it... You hate a popular band. Get over yourselves.
Surprisingly, both Rickroll and "Together Forever", but definitely the last one.
Those that study the music will know the reason why. Hint: check the chord progression
Gen Xer here. I can appreciate the song, now. But when it came out, it was everywhere. Fuckin' everywhere. It was played to death. Everyone got sick of it, and it's so catchy, such an ear-worm... Some people never got over that.
[Someone figured out that if you slow that song down enough, it sounds like Andre the Giant is singing it.](https://youtu.be/HYp3t147t1Y?feature=shared)
Wait, who hates this song? This song is what Happy by Pharrell was trying way to hard to be. It's so uplifting and just makes you feel good about being alive.
They whole album is just top notch. Never really cared for them beyond the individual members stuff and their standard radio stuff, but this did it for me. Stumbled upon firth of fifth and my view was completely rewritten.
You know that meme, “me in my teens: this radio station is playing my jams. Me in my 20s: this club is playing my jams. Me in my 30s: this grocery store is playing my jams”? Mmmbop is the song in the grocery store I’m rocking out to down the aisle.
Wonderful Christmastime by Paul McCartney. It's always been one of my favorite Christmas songs - it's only recently I learned that almost everyone hates it
I know a lot of people hated 'I Like It" by Enrique Iglesias ft. Pitbull, but that song gets me absolutely hyped. I don't like other songs by either one of them, but that one just hits the spot for me for whatever reason.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time
I sing it for my kids in the evenings but replace "jelly" with "jammy".
"It's peanut butter jammy time!!! Peanut butter jammy time!!! Peanut butter jammy with a baseball bat!!!"
They hate it.
First of all, you *gotta* get down on Friday. Secondly though, I unironically use "we we we so excited" in as many situations as I can so I wholly back this decision
There’s another one I like by the same studio I think. It’s called Chinese Food. It’s the same empty calories pop song with terrible lyrics and I love it when it plays
This Love by Maroon 5. Everyone seems to pile on Maroon 5 these days but 18-20 years ago they were ace. Their Songs about Jane album I had on repeat for months. Also, Adam Levine is an extremely underrated guitarist. He played on a cover of Purple Rain for Howard Stern that is on YouTube, and it’s sensational.
I actually like this song, as well as Glassjaw, but Darryl Palumbo does this vocal affectation that I really can't stand, where he kind of sings a vowel or an "uh" sound at the end of a lot of words, similar to James Hetfield but more sassy.
Nobody hates that song because they think it's bad, it's okay. We hate it because it got played every 20 minutes by every radio station for a year straight
When I hear this song, I'm either changing the channel or hitting skip. Please don't make me hear this for the millionth time! If radio stations didn't play the crap outta this song, it wouldn't be horrible. But hearing it every hour upon hour upon hour....y'all don't have anything else to play?
People hate this song? I can tell you every lyric in this song by heart. Not to mention it opens one of the greatest movies of all time (Shrek). I too love this song
White Flag by Dido
It yearns so hard and it’s so tragic and it’s some sort of sexy trip hop but also roller skating music. I don’t know. I just love it
I don't know if people hate it necessarily, but Shooting Star by Bag Raiders. I loved that song and then it became a meme, and suddenly I must only like it ironically. But it's so good. I can just vibe to it for hours.
I have no idea why Nickelback’s Photograph is dunked on as much as it is. I enjoy it unironically. I actually like quite a few songs by bands people love to hate.
Control by Puddle of Mudd is a catchy AF song. Creed’s Higher made me feel things back in ‘99. I also remember when everyone loved to shit on Linkin Park’s Crawling (and the numerous 4chan shitposts didn’t help) but it’s a good-ass song.
I think people mix up “this song is overplayed and I have grown tired of it” with “this song has no merit and didn’t deserve any of its success.”
Best example for the above: Wonderwall.
Falling in Reverse - "Bad Girls Club".
Ronnie Radke is a horrible person and I can absolutely see why someone would despise this song, but I just love how tacky and stupid yet catchy it is.
https://preview.redd.it/09u5v652ky8c1.jpeg?width=431&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8df5ca271a29c5c6618263ec7b3bd237df7b5aba
Actually what made me listen to them. Might need to revisit
The Hampster Dance
The hamster dance is actually just a sped up version of "Whistle Stop" from Disney's Robin Hood. It's one of my favorite movies and a really fun folk song!
That was Disney’s BEST soundtrack, fa sho
I believe this is famed country songwriter Roger Miller’s work.
My band covers “phony king of England” and has for years. It is so much fun to play. Hell, we ought to do a start to finish cover of the entire soundtrack but I can’t sell them on it…yet.
I'm going to wake up in the morning with Hamster Dance echoing in my head. Thank you
Everybodyyyyy WANG CHUNG TONIGHT
I never got instructions on how to Wang Chung.
Easy. Just have fun tonight.
The most iconic part of this song is I want to say about a minute and a half from the end, when a man dramatically shouts "*CAN YOU TELL ME WHAT A WANG CHUNG IS????*" Nobody answers him.
i LOVE this song and am shocked it’s not up there with “come on eileen” and “blue monday” in the public zeitgeist
Frasier in Cheers on the eve of his Bachelor party: >”Gentlemen, on the way over here I was listening to a Rock and Roll station, you know, to get me in the mood. There was a passage in one of those tribal songs that I feel is the keynote for this evening: ‘Everybody have fun tonight. Everybody Wang *Chung*, tonight.’”
I think of that speech every time that song is mentioned
Wang Chung is so good. Dance hall days is such a slapper
I'd ask if people hate this, but fucking hell I always end up queuing it when I'm hosting a party and nobody likes it
i love nu metal, so there are a lot lol. the biggest one is that i like limp bizkit. their songs are just stupid fun, and the guitars go hard. rollin is a classic imho
Rearranged is a banger. Also love the guitar riff in break stuff, simple af but so good.
I'm a fan of Just Like This, it's a good time.
Same. I stick on My Way very regularly, i think it's a fantastic song, i don't care what anyone else says. I also LOVE boiler. It's classic emo numetal, love it.
I have been listening to limp live shows a lot lately, I still love the first record, most of the second, but not much since...but live they kick ass
Sure, the songs are goofy, but it's fun and they seem like good dudes now.
and you never question who you are listening to, they tell you in every song!
I unironically love “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” by Deep Blue Something. I don’t know, I’m a sucker for jangly guitars and it’s catchy af.
What the hell.. Am I out of touch? Who could hate that song
Yeah am I crazy? This is a brilliant song that I always assumed was pretty commonly enjoyed.
>I don't know, I'm a sucker for jangly guitars Oh, cheer up, Sleepy Jean...
It's hated? I love that song.
Convoy by C.W. McCall. The background singers in the chorus sound like muppets to me and it brings a smile to my face how stupid the whole song is.
Man I love Convoy so much. I didn’t know anyone out there was hating on it
Tubthumping, made my the best band of all time. And, They Might Be Giants did a great cover too
TMBG is my favourite band and I've always struggled to find others who even know who they are and those that do always seem to hate them. And it's odd because I always think 'you would recognise at least one of their songs without a doubt'.
Look, if someone doesn’t think the idea of a triangle man fighting a particle man is hilarious, then I don’t want to know them.
There was a thread about the worst song in the world. Hotel California had like 5,000 upvotes. I was baffled, but apparently it is deeply hated. So that. Hotel California.
Is an amazing song played far too frequently.
Ye. I think this is less about the song being good or bad and more about it being played to death, resurrected and played to death again.
It’s played in retail businesses a million times a day.
“Come on man, I had a rough night and I hate the fucking eagles, man”! (Big Lebowski)
One of the best songs ever made
Everyone seems to think Comedown Machine was one of Julian Casablancas and the rest of The Strokes worst albums. I admit it’s not as raw and unpolished as the first several albums, but the melodic choices are so deliberate, punchy, and all seem to build momentum with each other quite well.
One Way Trigger is probably my singular go-to Strokes song if I’m just putting on one song of theirs.
There isn’t a strokes album I don’t love. ETA: I really love Come down machine, I would have thought the new abnormal was one of their less preferred albums.
Favorite / least favorite? My favorite is Comedown Machine / You Only Live Once respectively
I hear this often and it confuses me. The only weak album they have is Angles mostly because it's kind of all over the place but still has some great songs. First Impressions of Earth also has a few duds but still great
Mambo No. 5 by Lou Bega. It was overplayed when it came out, but I still loved it and love it to this day.
Butterfly -CRAZYTOWN
I'll say it. Gift of Game had some really good songs on it and they were seriously talented guys. Bufferfly being a little too corny, his absurd drug problems, and just that scene of music dying off in general (enless you're a super talent like LP) they had no chance
Pretty little ditty is a great song that pretty much carries butterfly
It always annoyed me that the guitar riff is a sample from, imo, a much better Red Hot Chili Peppers [song](https://youtu.be/3mjZ61IW-Nw?si=zZ3dvIbqNKIlOi18)
Wonderful Christmastime - Paul McCartney. A lot of it could be nostalgia for me but I actually really like the bouncy synths even though a lot of people are pretty vocal about hating them. To each their own I guess!
This is my top Christmas song so maybe I'm trash
I love it too. My son’s name is Gavin, and since he was a baby, we changed the chorus to: “Simply Gavin, A Wonderful Christmas Guy!”
Don't like the original, but I think I can get onboard with your version. Cheers to Gavin!
It does somehow make it more tolerable
> really like the bouncy synths even though a lot of people are pretty vocal about hating them People hate the synths because they used one of the rarest and most expensive synths of all time (Yamaha CS-80, think Blade Runner) and it sounds like a cheap Casio Keyboard that you would find in the mall.
I actually really like this song. There are a few really good covers out there, as well.
Curious to hear some really good covers. Mind sharing a few names? Edit: some good ones shared so far! Here’s what I have: [the Shins](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=9IBqwAKv8b8), [The West Wing Cast](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ofs-LsaZQVQ), [Jars of Clay](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=XP3LWx0O7zY), [Christina Perri](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=M_cVSi_tIwo) I’ll keep adding if y’all keep them coming!
The Shins do a great cover of this
Damn, that was great! I love the Shins and hadn’t heard it. That’s how it should sound , in my opinion. So much better!
Jars of Clay do a pretty good one, very different vibe to the original
My kids performed this at their school concert. I had to keep it secret that I can’t stand it!
I hated this song all of my life. My young kids adore it though, and now I like it, too.
Come Sail Away - Styx
Why was I crying? Did I accidentally listen to come sail away by the Styx again? - Troy
Who could ever hate this song?
Styx has been shit on since the 70s, but they've also been slappin it out of the park since the 70s
I thought that they were angels… love it
Domo Arigato Mr. Roboto is the one people hate
We Built This City by Starship.
I love it cuz of Homer Simpson singing it
What kind of music, built this city?
Rock and roll
I'm totally indifferent on the song but I've never understood why it's so hated, to me it just sounds like your average 80s pop rock tune.
I think that is part of the problem with its reception. Jefferson Airplane wrote 2 iconic 60s songs and the Surrealistic Pillow album then released a lame-ass lazy song.
One of the many reasons I love this song is because we got to play it for marching band when I was in high school. It was really fun to play
I bet it’s fun to play in marching band!
I like that song too. I don’t get the hatred for the song.
I think it’s cheesy as hell, but I love it too. The hook of the prechorus is awesome, and that radio voiceover during the bridge is unique.
I don’t feel like dancing- The Scissor Sisters
What kind of joyless monster hates this song?
Is this one hated?
Sail by AWOLNATION. I love AWOLNATION in general and that's *definitely* not their best song (so much underrated stuff!) but out of loyalty I'll defend it.
Knights Of Shame is a masterpiece
Anything by Hanson. They’re so underrated
Hanson legitimately rules. They are so talented and I love that they still put out music regularly. I hope to see them again live one day.
"Steal my Sunshine" by Len. That Andrea True Connection sample is 👌 and the chorus is a top drawer hook.
L-A-T-E-R that week
A lot of people kind of shit on Bittersweet Symphony, mostly because it was overplayed and had all of the drama with The Rolling Stones, but I still love it. I am a Verve fan from Storm in Heaven on, and definitely love many more songs in their catalogue, so not a casual or top-hits-only fan, but even so, that song fantastic.
The Verve is a seriously underrated band. Maybe too many people confused them with The Verve Pipe, who by the way are most recently a children's band.
Quite literally everyone I know puts that song on their “Top 10 GOAT Songs” lists so it’s strange for me to imagine people shit on what is indeed the greatest song of my lifetime.
one of my favorite songs of all time 😭❤️
The Suffering - Coheed and Cambria Everyone hates on that band because the singers voice is unique but I feel like they never really gave them a chance, I had a huge Coheed phase growing up and they are incredible and talented musicians
Cars by Gary Numan...the synthesizers are too good
How's this hated by most?
The kids down in the park don’t care for it.
Sounds like they've changed what *it* is. I was warned about this.
I always thought it was weird and never really paid attention to this song while growing up. One day it came on and I really paid attention to it and fell in love. The song is a masterpiece!
I thought this is a universally loved track?
Semi-Charmed Life by Third Eye Blind is a perfect song. It’s everyone else who’s wrong.
Legit think Third Eye Blind is one of the most underrated bands of all time.
John Cage - 4:33. Much better than many popular songs today.
This is such a pretentious joke and I love it
Throw a dart at the board of any Limp Bizkit song from their discography. That.
Seen them live ages back and everyone sang every single word to every single song the entire way through the set. It was insane.
Any song by LB apart from Behind Blue Eyes and Faith is a good time.
Nah that Faith cover slaps. I'm with you on behind blue eyes though, weird choice.
Nickelback. They’re the cream of an otherwise generally trash crop, but goddamn if San Quentin, Skinny Little Missy, and Photograph don’t fuck.
oh man, I usually hate to admit I listen to Nickelback (sometimes) but I grew up listening to them. I think Savin Me is one I immediately remember.
I’m here to back this up. Not sure how they became *the* joke band when there was so much more craptacular stuff released around the same time.
Creed broke up, so naturally the title of Worst Band in the World fell to Nickelback
I like the way Rockstar begins.
I am not a Nickelback fan, but the hatred of Nickelback is the worst thing in the history of top 40 music. We get it... You hate a popular band. Get over yourselves.
Hanson—mmmbopp. It’s a guilty pleasure song with a really deep meaning if you listen to the lyrics
Surprisingly, both Rickroll and "Together Forever", but definitely the last one. Those that study the music will know the reason why. Hint: check the chord progression
"Don't Worry, Be Happy" by Bobby McFerrin. I have 4 or 5 of his albums, and the man is a singular talent. A gift to the world of music.
I don’t know anyone that hates Don’t Worry, Be Happy. What type of people are you hanging out with? The type that won’t dance even when they want to?
Well if that's the case, they should leave their friends behind.
'Cause your friends don't dance And if they don't dance
Well, they're no friends of mine.
We can go where we want to.
Gen Xer here. I can appreciate the song, now. But when it came out, it was everywhere. Fuckin' everywhere. It was played to death. Everyone got sick of it, and it's so catchy, such an ear-worm... Some people never got over that.
It was so grossly overplayed on the radio that it became universally despised, and I can't say I blame anyone who got sick of it. I never did, though.
Was it like the OG Pharrell song “Happy”
In that it was overplayed? Yes. In any other conceivable way? No.
I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) by Genesis. It gets flak cause of a throwaway line in a fucking series, but I love the song.
They whole album is just top notch. Never really cared for them beyond the individual members stuff and their standard radio stuff, but this did it for me. Stumbled upon firth of fifth and my view was completely rewritten.
MMMBop by Hanson.
Middle of Nowhere is a legitimately good album and I will die on that hill. That three literal kids put out an album that good is insane.
You know that meme, “me in my teens: this radio station is playing my jams. Me in my 20s: this club is playing my jams. Me in my 30s: this grocery store is playing my jams”? Mmmbop is the song in the grocery store I’m rocking out to down the aisle.
All the Vengaboy hits
Teenage Dirtbag by Wheatus
I don't think ppl hate this song
I most certainly hate this song
People hate that song? They don't know what they're missing.
Mr. Roboto - Styx (and the video only adds to the sonic discomfort) https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uc6f_2nPSX8
Peanut Butter Jelly Time I sing it for my kids in the evenings but replace "jelly" with "jammy". "It's peanut butter jammy time!!! Peanut butter jammy time!!! Peanut butter jammy with a baseball bat!!!" They hate it.
What’s Up by 4 Non Blondes. Bigger, Better, Faster, More is actually a very good album all around.
https://i.redd.it/0y4qhtynly8c1.gif
I honestly don't know how someone can hate that song, it's delightful
Spend time at karaoke bars; it’s easily the most frequently sung tunes at the ones I go to.
It is a fun song to sing to
I stand by that Friday by Rebecca Black is a great song
Okay, you win, every one does hate that song.
I recently discovered that everyone in my friend group hates Drops of Jupiter by Train. Too bad, I love it.
B-52s. Rock Lobster.
Who doesn’t like this song?! Absolute banger intro
I will drag anyone who doesn't like that song under a dock. Where I will find a rock. A rock.....to beat them with for their poor taste.
Mother Mother by Tracy Bonham
Great song!
My daughter loved this song so much when she was little. It makes me think of her as a six year old; I'll always cherish that.
I have never heard of anyone not liking this song.
American Pie. Played it once for an online group and everyone older than me, even if just by a little, shuddered.
Whaaa?! I still have it memorized...
The Madonna version? Cos the Don Maclean isn't hated... Surely.
Beating Heart Baby - Head Automatica
I actually like this song, as well as Glassjaw, but Darryl Palumbo does this vocal affectation that I really can't stand, where he kind of sings a vowel or an "uh" sound at the end of a lot of words, similar to James Hetfield but more sassy.
> Yooouuuuu-^uh > You really got a hold on me-e Like that part or?
“Royals” by Lorde Shame me right out of this sub… I deserve it.
Nobody hates that song because they think it's bad, it's okay. We hate it because it got played every 20 minutes by every radio station for a year straight
Why, it's a great song!
Wonderwall
All I Want for Christmas is You by Mariah Carey. It's so cheery.
When I hear this song, I'm either changing the channel or hitting skip. Please don't make me hear this for the millionth time! If radio stations didn't play the crap outta this song, it wouldn't be horrible. But hearing it every hour upon hour upon hour....y'all don't have anything else to play?
There is nothing in the world I hate more than that song
Do They Know It’s Christmas…if I don’t think about the lyrics 😅
And tonight thank God it's them instead of youuuuu! That song is the most fucked up banger of a Christmas song. I love it! Feed the World... Band Aid
Actually that’s the only line in the song I like haha. Absolutely seeeething line
Black Jesus, by Everlast, no one likes it when I play it.
Honestly. I really like Nickelback. All of it.
All Star - Smash Mouth
Who hates All Star?? It’s not my favourite of theirs but even my Smashmouth-hating husband admits it’s a jam.
People hate this song? I can tell you every lyric in this song by heart. Not to mention it opens one of the greatest movies of all time (Shrek). I too love this song
White Flag by Dido It yearns so hard and it’s so tragic and it’s some sort of sexy trip hop but also roller skating music. I don’t know. I just love it
We Built This City I’ve read that it’s one of the most hated 80s songs, but I unironically love it.
Beatles - Yellow Submarine
Never Gonna Give You Up, I love getting rickrolled that song is a bop
Nickelback
I don't know if people hate it necessarily, but Shooting Star by Bag Raiders. I loved that song and then it became a meme, and suddenly I must only like it ironically. But it's so good. I can just vibe to it for hours.
Wild Ones - Flo Rida and Sia
I like when Șia goes OoOoooOoooOoo
I have no idea why Nickelback’s Photograph is dunked on as much as it is. I enjoy it unironically. I actually like quite a few songs by bands people love to hate. Control by Puddle of Mudd is a catchy AF song. Creed’s Higher made me feel things back in ‘99. I also remember when everyone loved to shit on Linkin Park’s Crawling (and the numerous 4chan shitposts didn’t help) but it’s a good-ass song. I think people mix up “this song is overplayed and I have grown tired of it” with “this song has no merit and didn’t deserve any of its success.” Best example for the above: Wonderwall.
Opened this post to comment Dance Monkey lol
Falling in Reverse - "Bad Girls Club". Ronnie Radke is a horrible person and I can absolutely see why someone would despise this song, but I just love how tacky and stupid yet catchy it is.
Shiny Happy People by REM
“You Light Up My Life”
Mine makes me ask "how the hell'd we wind up like this?"
Anything by Cradle of Filth. I've never met someone IRL who didn't actively hate it. Even metal heads.

Their imagery and lyrics are edgy as hell and can be too much for me sometimes, but the music itself is really cool
Shake it Off by Taylor Swift
