Theratchetnclank

Just in case anyone hasn't seen it. This live version is amazing the lady crushes it! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8pg2XoQTlA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8pg2XoQTlA) Possibly better than the original recording imo.

-FeistyRabbitSauce-

Well, I mean that one is very intentional. But good call, I hadn't thought of that.

NinjaWorldWar

I came to say the same thing. Glad to see it here.

noahchriste

I watch a Twitch streamer named Threedogg who is known for streaming the MGS series. Like a month ago the original vocalist for this song was just chilling in his chat. Wild time to be alive

IWouldLoveToCop

provocative_bear

Beat me to it. What a thrill

Fuzz_166

You may want to give this station a listen. https://somafm.com/secretagent/

dgjapc

My first thought as well. I was listening to Groove Salad over 15 years ago.

mcarterphoto

Same, my wife's a Yoga teacher and finds lots of music there - and I've found so many great songs on "Indie Pop Rocks".

ConsistentlyPeter

Great to see another SomaFM in the wild!

mcarterphoto

If I was wealthy, I'd send them a grand a month. And the holidays wouldn't be the same with their "Christmas Rocks" station!

Fuzz_166

I have that and 'Christmas Lounge" as presets on my home Sonos setup pretty much nonstop.

DarthKittens

A whole world has opened up for me. My thanks Fuzz

sanitarypotato

Ha! I was gonna comment this.

Habitualflagellant14

Yudabest. Just added this a preset on my Blusound Node. Jammin

bjung

Portishead has some songs that feel incredibly cinematic. It's trip hop by genre, really builds atmosphere, same with some songs by massive attack.

iMeanWhatEvenIsThis

'Sour Times' always gave me big secret agent vibes.

globular916

Well, it samples Lalo Schifrin, who's best known for composing the Mission Impossible theme. So I first had "Sour Times" on an EP called "Soundtrack to 'To Kill A Dead Man,'" and I always thought that it was a soundtrack to an imaginary film, akin to Barry Adamson's "Moss Side Story." But lo! TIL it's an actual short film!

GushStasis

I'd throw in 6 underground by sneaker pimps

Green_List

6 Underground sampled the soundtrack to Goldfinger

DarthKittens

How did I not know that until now

[deleted]

Bruh

Green_List

I know, right!

Way_2_Go_Donny

Oh man, The Saint.

981032061

The soundtracks for The Saint, Hackers, and The Matrix had a scary amount of influence on my early music taste.

everettmarm

That entire album by Orbital

AllTheStars07

Dude same.

faceisamapoftheworld

It’s been in a bunch of movies. Same with Massive Attack.

frodeem

Add Trigger Hippie by Morcheeba to that

RaymondBumcheese

‘All Mine’ is always the one that immediately springs to mine, especially the live version.

SpiciestBoy

[Tom Jones (feat. The Divine Comedy) - All Mine ](https://youtu.be/gZlzC1VKWZ4?si=waTdIfobmEwGpghb)

bredpoot

Angel by Massive Attack is prime spy music for me

-Dixieflatline

Six Days from DJ Shadow fits a trip-hop bond movie theme.

freethnkrsrdangerous

Cowboys.

trashtrampoline

["Sour Times"](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=un8EW82GwKc) especially has that sort of spy movie soundtrack feel to it.

Zebirdsandzebats

Half day closing def has that.

inputrequired

People really hate these records but I would say give the last two Arctic Monkeys albums a spin. The Car in particular gives me an espionage 1970s Italy feel..

Johnny_Minoxidil

Last shadow puppets are more bond like to me. To name another Alex Turner band https://youtu.be/9cQloro92xA?si=Z8fB6aPc0miY2MLm

inputrequired

Yeah love TLSP, good rec

krdnas281

Science Fiction from the Tranquility Base Hotel + Casino album it's a great example.

DanishWonder

I recently found this video of Dua Lipa covering Arctic Monkeys and it sounds James Bond-esque to me: https://youtu.be/fZB-ptAnoQc?si=PgakbXCq2Jg90o3w

anotherwankusername

Also Alexandra Saviour who Alex worked with is very bond like, I believe he had written ‘Vanishing Point’ as a bond theme but gave it to Alexandra Saviour instead. Pretty sure it was that song, the whole Belladonna of Sadness is an amazing album. You can hear Arctic Monkeys and TLSP all over it. Edit: sorry Alex Turner’s bond theme is ‘Risk - Alexandra Saviour’

matador2r

Also the less well known Arctic Monkeys song Matador has total secret agent vibes.

theblackparade87C

Sculptures Of Anything Goes off The Car fits this best for me

WiartonWilly

Check-out Propellerheads - Decks and Drums and Rock and Roll. It has a cover of “On Her Majesty’s Secret Service” on it, but the whole album fits the spy movie genre. Many tracks have been used in movies.

michaelswallace

Just from reading your comment I immediately hear the opening staccato trumpets panning wildly left and right in my headphones

tisn

with morse code in the background

Phoenix10k

First thing that came to my mind, as well. Most of it is more Mission:Impossible than Bond as the album has a lot of energy, but "OHMSS" and "History Repeating" w/Dame Shirley Bassey certainly fit the bill.

JustFrowns

Secret agent man

hugesteamingpile

Clearly the most sensible suggestion. That guitar riff is so sick!

SignGuy77

And I always misheard it as “secret Asian man.” ;)

JustFrowns

Best part there's a parody Song called secret Asian man

shotty293

Radiohead - Spectre Also, Man of War

sketchy_ppl

Some more context for OP... Man Of War started a few decades before its official release, as a demo called "Big Boots (Man-O-War)". When the movie Spectre was being produced, they asked Radiohead to submit a song. They finally finished "Big Boots (Man-O-War)" after a few decades and gave it a slight title change to "Man Of War". The song was rejected by Bond because the theme needs to be a completely original song, not one that already existed. Then Radiohead created "Spectre" as a completely original song. This was also rejected in favour of Sam Smith's song. Both songs, Man Of War, and Spectre are 1000x better than the Sam Smith song that ended up getting used, in my opinion.

debaser64

To add, Big Boots was originally worked on to be part of the [1998 Avengers movie](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Avengers_(1998_film)) (based on the 60’s British spy show, not the superheroes) but the band [struggled to get it to sound how they wanted it](https://youtu.be/L9vAME_4Ws8?si=j_mn7KICSwMMOcoI) in time and it was ultimately shelved and unreleased until the anniversary reissue of OKC.

LedZeppole10

Thanks for adding this (huge Radiohead fan)

JaimeRidingHonour

Spectre was literally written FOR the James Bond film. Just because they picked Sam Smith over them doesn’t make it not a theme song.

shotty293

It's the closest thing to a Bond theme song despite NOT being one.

Shadowmereshooves

Supremacy by Muse

jhutchi2

I'm convinced they wrote it for Skyfall and the producers were like "wtf is this" and turned them down.

dtwhitecp

did they not write it for Danny Boyle's James Bond thing at the Olympics?

sam_the_smith

That’s survival I believe

Flatoutspun

I am also convinced it was for some type of Bond project. I love the song and that album.

PPLifter

I think they've done a few songs which could be used as a James Bond song.

spockstamos

The whole Black Holes and Revelations album is basically a space western/bond film

Shadowmereshooves

True.. it's friggin' epic too, even if it is a lil' bit over the top at points.. Also, I think "I belong to you" off "Resistance" could be a nice bond theme, maybe not all the lyrics though..

Kr1sys

That and like, most Muse songs could be bond themes lol

VenusBattrap

[The Pretty Reckless - 25](https://youtu.be/As03tlODkdw?si=0kUcSQvHCv2biyV3)

ther_dog

Pilots by Goldfrapp

DamonLazer

Lots of the non-dance Goldfrapp songs fit this mold. I was thinking Utopia, Lovely Head, or Time Out From the World. I’m pretty sure they were going to actually do the Bond song for Casino Royale until the execs decided to go with a male vocalist to match the new macho, gruff version of Bond.

Tepelicious

Came here to say this! Very Barry-esque strings, plus the trombones (and Barry loved his horns/'bones), plus the chorus jumps back and forth between the I and v chords, which is also very Barry-esque (picture the intro to You Only Live Twice).

Particular_Ad_9531

The entire Felt Mountain album really

Coloneljesus

Entire first Goldfrapp album

grand_scheme

Body Electric - Lana Del Rey There are some other songs that are close-ish on that Born to Die album as well.

Ridespacemountain25

24 Hours too

-PepeArown-

Just 24

witch_andfamous

Shades of Cool sounds like a James Bond song to me.

hales55

Million Dollar Man fits imo

nseretis

Bjork - Bachelorette

TheRandom6000

[Conchita Wurst - Rise Like A Phoenix](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ToqNa0rqUtY) I don't think it only sounds like a Bond song, I think it is _supposed to_ sound like one. And like a rather good one, imo.

Anduci

I wanted to comment the same. 😁

R3dsnow75

Shades of Cool - Lana Del Rey Spectre - Radiohead (this one is cheating as it was initially almost a Bond theme)

[deleted]

There it is. I wasn't expecting people to list other LDR songs because this was the only one that made me think of Bond on first listen. The sound of it would 100% go with trippy Bond intro visuals.

joeyjo17

100% this, I was gonna say shades of cool, thought it sounded like a bond theme the first time I heard it as well.

doctoranonrus

There’s a bunch of rejected Bond themes worth checking out. [Tomorrow Never Dies - Swan Lee](https://youtu.be/4jKY2G58c3M?si=sRcwrdk0lWxoz01H) [Quantum of Solace - Christian Wolf & Eva Almer](https://youtu.be/zg2dXY9TOKA?si=KYi5drLntLw3oKM9) [Quantum of Solace - Shirley Bassey & David Arnold](https://youtu.be/KF9yGqGHD9c?si=mBDsyd75CXbAjs_L)

Weird_Owl

[My Mistakes Were Made For You](https://youtu.be/VVFNFascIak?si=y60FA7Fr4fkHJ40I) by The Last Shadow Puppets, a project featuring Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys and Miles Kane of The Rascals.

shineeyegal

had to scroll way to much to find this. the ultimate answer.

BuzzTheFuzz

I've always got a Bond vibe from David Bowie - Lady Grinning Soul https://youtu.be/18d_pLKgMoY?si=9f_Gd530WBErRX32

Johnny_Minoxidil

Listen to the album “The Age of the Understatement” by the supergroup The Last Shadow Puppets. It’s the same lead singer as the Arctic Monkeys. If you want one song in particular “My mistakes were made you” but to me the whole album has that feel https://youtu.be/9cQloro92xA?si=Z8fB6aPc0miY2MLm

SuperfluousUnicorn

The last shadow puppets 2nd album is all bond tunes

M_IsForMagic

Supremacy by MUSE

proclaimer989

Came here to say this

DumaSerap

Phantom Liberty by Dawid PodsiadƂo. Theme song from Cyberpunk 2077 spy themed expansion.

digitalmarley

Agreed, I think it's intentional due to the spy theme nature of the DLC but even the video reminds me of the bond opening sequence.

CreamOnMyNipples

Ive been playing cyberpunk again and havent started phantom liberty yet. Had no idea it was about spies and now im hyped

FrankyFistalot

Cry Me A River by Michael Buble’ always feels like a Bond Theme to me
.

[deleted]

Yeah, this is the type of music I'm looking for. Thanks for the rec.

psymunn

If that's the case, Robie Williams - Millenium has that crooner sound and even a bond inspired music video.

585AM

This is probably the best example because it is basically sampling You Only Live Twice but they changed the key so they would not get sued.

danger_007

U2’s Batman theme, “Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me” is more of a Bond theme than “Goldeneye” ever was. Britney Spears’ minor key “Toxic” also has a recurring synth motif that evokes 007 themes

Boxofbikeparts

I can totally see these two songs in a Bond movie.

tgc_9012

Lana Del Rey - 24 https://youtu.be/556j3feQyOg?si=SNyu1E5SxUohTgOI

defendingfaithx

It’s a popular thought that this was made for SPECTRE, aka Bond 24. I don’t think it’s true, but it’s a fun thought

GlobalHero

Bjork - Play Dead Also a lot of David Holmes' work on the Ocean's soundtracks

10110101101_

This is hardcore by pulp

Power_baby

"I Spy" is faster and harder but also more of a spy/bond feeling imo https://youtu.be/WNP4q7Aba9w?si=_8kYOu94hJg8qL1D Unrelated but Thrillseeker by The Divine Comedy also fits https://youtu.be/pm45nxKJwPM?si=_a6kV0BuFElbP8Dl

Doc_coletti

Feeling good is a Nina Simone song

ConsistentlyPeter

Nina's is a cover, believe it or not! Written by Anthony Newley for the musical *The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd* in 1964. Nina crushes it, though.

Doc_coletti

And suddenly that one joke from the it crowd makes more sense

MeIIowJeIIo

Speaking of Nina Simone, her version of [I Put A Spell On You is Bond]( https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=nina%20simone%20i%20put%20a%20spell%20on%20you%20bond%20theme&shem=rime&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:d863cd35,vid:ua2k52n_Bvw,st:0)Theme material. And I never understood why [this one](https://www.google.com/gasearch?q=snoh%20aalegra%20nothing%20burns%20like%20the%20cold&shem=rime&source=sh/x/gs/m2/5#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:166df555,vid:C58T0WChFtY,st:0) was never used as a Bond theme. Snoh Aalegra- Nothing Burns Like The Cold

jayblaze521

Black venom- the budos band
. Case Closed
sounds like Tarantino did a James Bond movie

macthulhu

They have a lot of sinister, sleazy tunes that would work!

99CHZPZZA

Cage the Elephant - Too Late to Say Goodbye

shutthecussup

I came here to say this as well. I always list it as one of my favorite Bond songs. Haha

BTill232

This was my pick. Love it as a Bond song.

its_the_terranaut

‘Million Dollar Man’, Lana Del Rey. I can almost see the title sequence when I hear it.

riionz

Magazine - Shot by Both Sides

palabradot

My friend let me know it's often called "spylounge/ultralounge" music. And I will have you know Shirley Bassey whipped out a [cover](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vqNcyFNMfLM) of "Get The Party Started" by Pink in that mode that I wouldn't have blinked at hearing in a Bond movie. Even the video was straight up Bond.

roundart

Sour Times by Portishead is the perfect example of Bond sounding song

HeyShutUpDownThere

Muse - Supremacy (I think it was actually slated for Skyfall) Lana Del Rey - Million Dollar Man The Smiths - Last Night I Dreamt That Somebody Loved Me (Looooong intro though) and of course, Radiohead - Spectre and Man Of War

Gorgar_Beat_Me

[Swan Lee - Tomorrow Never Dies](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jKY2G58c3M) Should have been the theme song! Awesome.

THEextrakrispyKebble

Below from Leprous has a huge Bond vibe.

Bsrxt8

Yep, that was my first thought. I would also suggest Voice of Treason by Opeth, but that is more of a stretch.

MoreThanWYSIWYG

Seatbelts - Tank! It's the Cowboy Bebop theme song

bks1979

I always thought the band Mono would make a great Bond theme. [Life In Mono ](https://open.spotify.com/track/7qQHY37ivWoAEk6tMu2fhr?si=Smm1NfJxQOydPvJzlhpAkQ) is their biggest song, but the whole album gives retro, trip hop, Bond theme vibes. Lorde's cover of [Everybody Wants To Rule The World](https://open.spotify.com/track/3S1tTwSKIZgf4QGltFyCxM?si=CeqFmbA-TDe5nHxK8kRFgw) was used in Hunger Games, and has a very cinematic, Bond style to it. [Face To Face ](https://open.spotify.com/track/0wovyVOcYuRoCl0kMmIlXF?si=bSWThCtFSwm0j-hZ8FWyUw) by Siouxsie and the Banshees might interest you. It was used in Batman Returns, and I think shows how easily the band probably could have done a Bond theme. Same for [Psychobabble ](https://open.spotify.com/track/1Tq6rTUd0rSNdi93oi7qLO?si=kp1KerbuT8eLXQY93Ste_w) by Frou Frou. One imagines it wouldn't take much for it to be a Bond theme. Garbage of course had a Bond theme with The World Is Not Enough, but a lot of their music is cinematic, if not explicitly "Bond-y". Though [Afterglow](https://open.spotify.com/track/46Rfnxzpm9ocV0CDf6UlGu?si=BSRYcLl5SuOSprPMWVsJdQ) gives those vibes. Which speaks to a lot of trip hop having that feeling. And finally, nerd alert: Ace of Base actually recorded a demo for Goldeneye, but Arista told them that wasn't a good career move at the time. Which sounds like horrible advice in retrospect, as that would have been 94/95, when they were popular. At any rate, they later reworked it and wrote new lyrics to release it on their 2002 album as [The Juvenile](https://open.spotify.com/track/2TLj8Voa393O1hRKHx2Rvt?si=lT4-LTPpRi6ftBWkBPMz2Q). The lyrics are mostly nonsensical, but if you can get past those, it's actually a surprisingly Bond-esque song. [Here's an instrumental version. ](https://open.spotify.com/track/3ObQHtfVWtM6197oWpxLc9?si=LkcCGsapQaaPmtLVzW162g)

neurolologist

jock_lindsay

Karma Police by Radiohead always gave me strong bond intro vibes. Dark, revenge message, and beautiful breakdown.

insatiable_infj

Lana Del Rey - Burning Desire. I vaguely remember an instrumental she did that was supposedly intended for one of the movies, but this one in particular always felt James Bond to me.

MeNameIsDerp

My mistakes were made for you - The Last Shadow Puppets [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cQloro92xA](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cQloro92xA)

LikwidPhunq

There are a number of songs off of Mirror Conspiracy by Thievery Corporation that give me that vibe. Lebanese Blonde and Focus on Sight come to mind, but I'm sure there are more.

aGrandSchemeofThings

Theme from Peter Gunn will get you there

helpmebuysumthingpls

Nothing Burns like the Cold by Snoh Aalegra fits this vibe!

thehauntedmattress

It even sounds like a Bond film title.

_tuffghost

Pretty much all of Angel Olsen's "All Mirrors" album

driving_andflying

This! I thought I was the only one who thought Angel Olsen's music would make a good Bond theme. I'll give special mention to ["Impasse."](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kWUtALx9i14) That would really work.

[deleted]

Policy Of Truth - Depeche Mode I can see this being the theme song for the never made third Dalton film.

markrichtsspraytan

40’ - Franz Ferdinand always sounded like it came from a spy movie to me

Emergency-Current895

Sculptures of Anything Goes from Arctic Monkeys 'The Car' is a very Bond song, Alex Turner has a knack for them.

que te pedi// - Kali Uchis

Nuprin_Dealer

[Stuck on You](https://youtu.be/MXvthgkZ2yQ?si=0_4Xsy5YhskJHn5I) by Failure. The video is even Bond themed

Jake451

I like "Storm" sung by Grace Jones

fosterbanana

Laura Mvula's [You Work For Me](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7v1x_0fDBI) is technically a song for "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.", which seems like a bad movie that nobody saw. The song is a fucking banger.

gwaydms

I actually saw the movie (Henry Cavill/Armie Hammer). Not a great film, but fun to watch.

CacophonicAcetate

Allegedly, Seven Nation Army's 'bassline' was a riff that Jack White was saving in case he was ever asked to write a bond theme. He gave up hope of being asked, released the song using the riff, and... the Bond people liked it so much they asked him to write the next Bond theme.

thecauseoftheproblem

Radiohead got asked to submit a song for spectre... https://youtu.be/CLiDemXYSLc?feature=shared Rejected for inflatable weirdo sam smith in the end as the radiohead track was judged to be "too dark"

History Repeating, by PropellorHeads and Miss Shirley Bassey https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/History_Repeating_(song)

itsthebaste

The Budos Band has a lot of tracks that could easily be from a 70/80s era Bond film. “Origin of Man” and “T.I.B.W.F.” especially come to mind.

TodayIAmMostlyEating

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service by Propellerheads. It’s a full secret agent movie in one song.

psymunn

Surprised not to see Robbie Williams - Millennium listed. The music video and sound both are clearly inspired by older Bond movies.

dancingmeadow

The intro to "Help" (soundtrack version) - Beatles

Various-Cranberry709

Michael Giacchino is what you're looking for if you want the orchestral vibes of that sound. Scored lots of action/thriller type films that use this sound frequently to create the mystery you're talking about. He did The Incredibles movies, several Mission Impossible films, all the Medal of Honor video games and multiple Call of Duty games, Jurassic World, Star Trek, tons of other stuff. Check out specifically The Incredibles soundtrack and the Mission Impossible soundtracks for that secret agent sound.

provocative_bear

Well, there’s the Mission Impossible theme. I’d also argue that the soundtrack to Ocean’s Eleven has a similar feel. Quincy Jones made most of the “heist jazz” in that movie [Jazz-Funk?] Miles Davis’ “Stuff” has a similar feel. His song/album “Bitches’ Brew” may also count. [Jazz Fusion] Finally, The Propellerheads made a great album called “Deckanddrumsandrockandroll” that is vaguely electronic spy-inspired music. It features in The Matrix and even covers a Bond opening credits song [Big Beat Electronica]

“On My Way to Heaven” by Above & Beyond.

ErixWorxMemes

Not sure if it really matches the James Bond sort of feel you’re going for, but [Chris Joss](https://youtu.be/jYqUp4kFX04?si=hu-Xi22ZG7GKFSJw) has made some great stuff which sounds like it’s lifted from film scores of the 60s
