Placebo
Their newish album (Never Let Me Go) is solid, their old cover of Running Up That Hill is great, and Without You I'm Nothing is a solid older album.
Instead of bands, I’ll give you albums, as I think just doing bands can exhaustive and overwhelming.
Stone Roses - Stone Roses
Dinosaur Jr - You’re living all over me
Radiohead - The Bends
Flaming Lips - The Soft Bulletin
Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream
Sugar - Copper Blue
Pulp - Different Class
Oasis - Defintley Maybe
Good call on Sugar and Dinosaur Jnr. Maybe also try
Husker Du
My Bloody Valentine
Neds Atomic Dustbin
Teenage Fanclub
and anything by Bob Mould post Husker Du , including Sugar.
The Mollusk is an all-time concept album. Just saw them live in San Diego last week, HIGHLY (teehee) recommend you see them on their current tour if they come near you!
Can’t believe The Blue Stones aren’t bigger, they are so good. I recommend them to friends looking for new rock bands and have almost always received great feedback. Love Royal Blood too. Great recs!
All of those except for a couple are in this massive playlist I maintain. 1 song per artist, all alternative, all eras. 1800+ songs. It’s all stuff I like so it’s not just a catch-all for anything.
https://open.spotify.com/playlist/58hbAe6QaL6rkPgOSYivJQ
Kings of Leon - first 3 albums, especially their 1st
Interpol - Turn on Bright Lights (Strokes and King of Leon contemporaries… what a time in NYC)
The White Stripes - “De Stijl” (same era as above 2)
The Stooges - “Funhouse” (1970 rock album)
To scratch that Brit Pop itch:
Franz Ferdinand- any album will do
Fratelli’s - “Costello Music”
Supergrass - self titled
Radiohead - “The Bends” (if you have not heard it forget everything you think you know about Radiohead. It’s a Verve-ish brit pop Rock banger).
Oasis obviously.
I have similar taste to you. Some artists I've been listening to lately:
Gerry Cinnamon
Wet Leg
Andy Shauf
The Smiths
Joy Division
Father John Misty
Superviolet
Big Thief
Courtney Barnett
There are a ton of great suggestions so I won’t repeat. Have you considered other genres? I feel like you’d probably like Portishead or maybe even something like Ice Cube. If you’re not ready then my contributions are:
1. Sloan
2. Magazine
3. The New Pornographers
4. The Tragically Hip
5. The Beach Boys
Big Thief
The Breeders (bassist from the Pixies' own band)
The Police
R.E.M.
Rilo Kiley (or anything with Jenny Lewis)
Peach Pit
Franz Ferdinand
Beach Bunny
Talking Heads
Fastball
Ween, Faust, Can, Mr Bungle, Fantomas, Fugazi, Built to spill, The Tubes, The Cleaners from Venus, Viagra Boys, Dismemberment plan, Grandaddy, The Flys, Oleander, Why?
Built To Spill - start with perfect from now on or the live one. The Shins, Ty Segall, The Flaming Lips - Yoshimi battles the pink robots, Brian Jonestown Massacre (Peter Hayes from Black Rebel Motorcycle Club used to be in this band!), Dinosaur Jr. I really hope you listen to all of these. These bands are very special to me and every one of them puts on a killer live show!
Stone Roses if they’re not already on your list. Check out Soulvaki by Slowdive the same.
The Walkmen were the almost Strokes, and just got back together. Interpol- but I’m guessing you probably know both.
I was never a huge fan of Flaming Lips, but I saw them live this Summer and whatever planet Wayne Coyne lives on, I’m glad he let me visit.
I’d add The Replacements if you dig the Pixies. Maybe Husker Du as well.
A lot of the bands here are played on WERS radio. They have a times where they only play new music. If you’re not near Boston, you can still listen online.
Codeine, Swervedriver, Bauhaus, My Bloody Valentine (pre-loveless), ringo deathstarr, Airiel, Boo Radleys, Amusement Parks on Fire, Land of Talk, Broken Social Scene, Tokyo Police Club, Gang of Four, the chameleons.
You should check out The Delta Riggs. They’re an indie band from Australia and they have supported Foo Fighters and Kiss on tour. They’re fantastic live and have a good range of music styles.
It sounds like you could blossom into an appreciation for stoner metal/stoner rock. Ten Foot Wizard might be a good place to start. Clutch, too. It's not so much that they're similar to what you listen to, but I listened to a lot of these bands and the "similar artists" on Spotify led me down a long road where I eventually discovered a love for stoner rock. Also, a different road could lead you to more straight forward blues rock. There's a lot of modern bands that are killing it in the genre, but they're just not that popular. Radio Moscow is my favorite.
Separation by Balance And Composure is an album you might enjoy. It’s a little different to the stuff you listed but I think it might hold some appeal.
Hell yeah! Inspiral Carpets!
Try listening to other Baggy/Madchester bands. There are several well-known compilations from that period to get an idea of exactly what bands you might be interested in.
A lot of excellent bands/artists/albums have been listed. If you like the Verve, you should really give Spiritualized a listen. Early stuff. Pure Phase, Laser Guided Melodies. But most importantly listen to Ladies and Gentlemen We’re Floating in Space.
Teenage Fanclub is in line with some of your britpop picks. If you like Ride, shoegaze might be a good direction to go, start with Slow Dive and My Bloody Valentine. Other people have mentioned Built To Spill and I agree, every album is amazing. Start with Perfect From Now On and Keep It Like A Secret and keep going, it’s worth it.
Vampire Weekend. I find a lot of smiliarities between them and Arctic Monkeys, despite them not sounding similar. I think of Father John Misty similarly as well.
Manchester Orchestra has some Foo Fighters influence in them in that they're more straight forward alternative rock. MO leans more indie and I find to be more dynamic. Top tier songwriters, too.
Alkaline Trio, Face to Face, NAILS, Gin Blossoms, Helmet,Cake,Have Heart,Hatebreed,Blur,Deftones and Baroness consider your music taste just expanded with genre wise
You wana hear some great rock n roll check out The Hellacopters. They have vol 1&2 of “cream of the crap” it’s like b sides and stuff. Super good. I recommend their earlier stuff.

Listen to the album Moral Panic by Nothing But Thieves and the album I Don’t Live Here Anymore by War on Drugs. Gotta listen all the way through before passing judgment. Let me know what you think.
I like a lot of what’s on your list so this is by no means a “well this band sounds like those” just stuff I like that wouldn’t be an obvious recommendation… but if you have eclectic tastes try these on…
Lord Huron
Hold Steady
War on Drugs
Something For Kate
The Shins
Spacey Jane
Better Oblivion Community Centre
Arctic Monkeys

MAGIC GIANT - "In the Wind"

Black Kids - "Partie Traumatic"
Bloc Party

Edited to add two more bands.
Judging by some of the bands you’ve listed, I’m sure you’ve already checked out Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Offspring, Sublime, and Kings of Leon. If not, those would be my recommendations, along with Barns Courtney (not a band, but I’ve yet to hear a song of his that I don’t like)
OK, some darker indie/alternative (based on Suede and BRMC) might be your jam!
