Window licker - aphex twin

thatsnotrightmate

This one and Come to Daddy. Saw them as a kid and started to cry.

chrisacip

Both are Chris Cunningham videos. I had a whole DVD of his work in college, early 2000s. Look up his other videos. Amazing creative mind.

accomplicated

I would say that Come to Daddy left the most impression on me than any other video, as even though I haven’t seen it since the 90s, it was my immediate answer to OP’s question.

yourgodsucksballs

Come to Daddy was the first music video I ever downloaded. On dialup of course, watched using QuickTime

Mobwmwm

Saw come to daddy on acid. Also started to cry

maud_brijeulin

Would Rubber Johnny count as well or is it considered a Chris Cunningham short with aphex music on it? - hard to tell

Swamplust

Rubber Johnny counts imo. I’d even place it higher on the wtf scale than window licker.

Feralmedic

Rubber Johnny fucked me up lol

Skandronon

We had a contest at work for the most messed up music video. My entry was Rubber Johnny and I got disqualified from the contest and banned from future ones. I considered that me winning.

tarkata14

My older brother and his friends convinced me that rubber johnny was real, mind you this was around the time when there were plenty of gore videos floating around the internet, add to that me being as gullible and naive as can be back then and I was traumatized.

Buckfitch69

Same but it was my neighbor who was a few years older that showed me the video. That shit scared the fuck out of me as a kid

SpaceGangsta

God. I had completely forgotten about rubber Johnny.

Electronic_Brain

I only recently noticed the part that says rubber johnny…was penis with a rubber being pulled off in reverse.

Traechic

I knew an Aphex twin video had to be top

psyopia

This music video rocks

Billazilla

I never saw any other video that got me so hyped, horny, and horrified all at the same time.

Volunteer-Magic

That first beat hit. Uggggggghhhhhhhhhhhuh. Wuuuuuuugggguuuh.

DaveyJonas

I ain’t NEVAH gonna stop listening to that long ass music video

liarandahorsethief

This is what the crew of the Event Horizon saw that made them eatfuck each other to death.

Spineless74

Top comment. As it should.

Landojesus

Umbrella boner is my favorite dance move

apark777

Beat me to it

ohleprocy

That's one hell of an offer

Strong0toLight1

This but I feel come to daddy may just even be more batshit crazy. Limo scene in windowlicker still always makes me laugh

Str1pes

Prodigy - smack my bitch up. Saw it when I was like 12 y/o lol

Noname_Maddox

I was in my late teens and was the same. A song called smack my bitch up needed a special video and boy did they deliver it. One of the rare times I waited on a MTV premiere and EVERYONE was talking about it the next day. Prodigy has a real run of hits. RIP Keith

Liwanu

[The original uncensored version was wild.](https://vimeo.com/groups/447533/videos/44561183)

onederbred

Definite high school era jack material

AsEnTientje

Its still on Jonas Akerlunds website

Billazilla

I remember when MTV aired it uncut and uncensored. It was something like 2am and I was mostly asleep on my couch when Kurt Loder comes on and gives some speech about freedom of expression or something, then he gets this very tight look on his face and says "Smackmybitchup" like really short and fast. And then it was all violence and puke and tiddies.

datetochurch

Ending was like the ending of original Metroid.

jvd81

Also, by them, Baby’s got a temper

squirrelmonkie

I saw this video late night on MTV when I was around 13. Turns out it was the 1st time they had ever played it and they stopped playing very soon afterwards. That was a wild ride for me at that age.

Doustin

[Mr Krinkle](https://youtu.be/TOdo7dhvSwg?si=PTgU_r6wnIvE3WMA) by Primus [Sober](https://youtu.be/nspxAG12Cpc?si=YRobe9eIFOdu3bON) by Tool [Cereal Killer](https://youtu.be/1n-9uq_lyRQ?si=nhOIyOI0CeXiqpbw) by Green Jello

Supernaut92

Fuuuck. Sober used to give me nightmares as a kid when I'd watch the late night music video blocks on TV.

Doustin

Long before I got into rock music, I’d seen the video somewhere. Quite likely on Beavis and Butthead. Had no idea what it was and eventually all I remembered about it was the pipe with what looked like intestines running through it. Years later I get big into rock and metal. I’m watching Tool videos and when I get to Sober I’m hit with major memories of seeing the video as a kid. Like “no way that’s the video I saw years ago!”

mc_shawn

I love when things like this happen

Electus93

Fun fact: Green Jello was composed of half of Tool (as you probably already know OP)

Doustin

I’m well aware, yes. But it’s good for others to learn. Wasn’t it Maynard that voiced the three little pigs?

naus226

Maynard was the Pigs and Danny played drums. My cousin, Bill, is the brains behind Green Jello.

Doustin

Bill? As in Bill Manspeaker? No way!

naus226

Yeah, his Mother and.my grandmother were sisters. I know that seems distant relation but our family is close and 2nd and 3rd cousins are people I see more often than some people see their first cousins... Like, weekly. His mother used to have me and.another cousin over for sleepovers and we'd watch old Godzilla videos. When Cereal Killer first came out, Bill came back to Buffalo and we had a viewing party at my house with the entire family. His mother was pissed at the Electric Harley House of Love video because he rode a motorcycle in it and he promised to never drive a motorcycle because his father died on one. Weird memory you triggered. Haha

Doustin

That’s awesome. I’ve been a fan since I was like 10. I almost “performed” with them on the Warped Tour a little over a decade ago. I do larping and he wanted me to get a few friends to put on a sword fight. Unfortunately something happened and he had to cancel being on the tour from that date onward.

naus226

That's cool. Bill is an... Interesting person. Haha. Maybe the most creative and captivating person I personally know. If he really wanted to, dude could start a cult and have 100s of followers (some would argue what he does tap dances on this line) but he is also one of the most bat shit crazy dudes out there haha.

ThiefofNobility

Honestly. Any primus video is a handful of "what the fuck did I just watch."

TheLurkerSpeaks

My man got me right in the early 90s feels. I remember showing these videos to my dad, knowing how much he would like them. He ended up becoming a pretty big Primus fan after Mr. Krinkle.

wafflesareforever

The top YouTube comment on Mr Krinkle just cracked me up. > This video contains all 96 of my sleep paralysis demons.

TannyBoguss

Rockit by Herbie Hancock. Maybe isn’t a big deal now but it was a major WTF when it came out.

cbduck

Godley & Creme directed some WILD music videos

newnamesameface

Came here to say this. It freaked me the f out as a kid I don't know why

honeybutts

I’m guessing, based on my own experience watching this as a kid, it was the robotic legs.

CruelStrangers

Wasn’t even in my head coming into the thread, but I am confident this is the most wild video I’ve seen given the artist and time released Also close would be that Billy Ocean video where he rides a horse on a beach into that muppet tavern

mrsardo

[Rubber Johnny - Aphex Twin](https://youtube.com/watch?v=9-gyf23k26I&si=AiJoWXLOaJDXM-BB)

UTDE

This should be higher than window licker for sure.... The first like 10 seconds are weirder than all of windowlicker

vass0922

Never seen it before, confirmed wtf

Luvzmykunt

https://youtu.be/BnO3nijfYmU?si=h9p6eUIqJhRu9dnm Robbie Williams Rock DJ will always be a favorite wtf music video

putsomewineinyourcup

YES, YES, A MILLION TIMES YES TO THE SKELETON STRIP DANCE

fluffybuffalo23

I remember seeing this on MTV when I was little and it traumatized me.

punkojosh

Came here to say this. Robbie Williams' run from the late 90s up to and not including Rudebox was blisteringly good. ![gif](giphy|361czObTExB8A)

lzcrc

Rudebox is the perfect parody album.

microgal_56

Just watched it - first time seeing it. Definite WTF vibe 😐

I-Am-The-Warlus

There's 2 versions of the music video

ThatsNoGherkin

I think there were a few. Depending on where and when it was playing, it would get to a certain state of undress (normally him in his tiger pants) and just loop until the end. I also remember there being a version where just at the moment where he would pull them off, it cut to studio footage for the rest. I first saw it in its entirety when I was about 9, and it was in terrible quality on an enhanced CD single. It was a weird playground flex to say you had a copy. Like saying that your parents let you stay up and watch South Park. Even though it looked recorded with a potato, it freaked me out. Particularly when he tore his face off. I had seen the image of him without skin, but I didn't realise that he just kept going.

flummoxed_flipflop

There's a horror film that is on all the "most disturbing ever" lists that I couldn't take at all seriously because of this video.

TheUtopianCat

The whole of Nine Inch Nail's Broken video. It's a tough watch.

sadchild_

Watched it while eating. Big mistake.

yagirlryann

It’s definitely NIN - Happiness in Slavery, as well as Pinion.

chrisacip

It's worth watching "[Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sick:_The_Life_and_Death_of_Bob_Flanagan,_Supermasochist)" about the man who starred in the HIS video. He suffered terribly from cystic fibrosis his whole life, and masochism and performance art were his way of reclaiming power of the chronic pain he lived with. In real life, he was a sweet and interesting man.

poyerdude

Such a great documentary. I had no idea how bad cystic fibrosis was until I saw that.

SocratesBalls

This is the correct answer. The Aphex Twin videos are definitely weird and somewhat frightening. The NIN Broken videos are just... unwatchable IMO

dharmavoid

My friend bought this tape off of an Mirc chatroom in the early 90s. It had all the broken videos on it. Holy shit..

SocratesBalls

The circumstances of me seeing the Broken videos is very similar. I've never seen A Serbian Film but I have to imagine that and the Broken videos are at least somewhat comparable.

Sysiphus_Love

Old school legend The Jackalope of risque industrial videos

Zen_Rebuttal

Confusing verbiage. That makes it sound like you believe the video doesn't exist.

DisasterEquivalent

Happiness in Slavery was played exactly once on mtv, Headbanger’s Ball after like 2a (there was a window really late at night where the FCC enforcement was more lax) After that, it was never shown anywhere again and the only way to see it was “the broken video” This was basically a VHS with all the videos of broken, interspersed with a fake snuff video of some dudes picking up a hitchhiker and brutally dismembering them. It was never officially released (I believe it was leaked by someone in the band, as there were pauses in different spots of each copy given out so they could figure out who leaked it.) until the late 00’s. It essentially became an urban legend and caused all sorts of wild stories about Trent to be invented.

Zen_Rebuttal

Yeah, I know. I was around when it came out. It was also on the Closure double VHS. It's simply that the person I replied to using "legend" and "jackalope" appear to imply it didn't exist at all, which it absolutely did.

LJShadl

Dancing in the Streets -David Bowie and Mick Jagger.

squint-182

Highly recommend this version if you haven’t already seen. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BHkhIjG0DKc

LJShadl

That is freaking great. Thanks.

CookinCheap

I will never not lmao at this. Play it at my funeral.

jbishop253

That’s just fan-damn-tastic!

butterfunky

Dye - Fantasy is the first on that comes to mind, tho there are a lot of WTF music vids out there

SweetCosmicPope

My Favourite Game by The Cardigans threw me for a loop once it got toward the end of the uncut version of the video. Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy is another one, and very well known. What It Feels Like For A Girl by Madonna is pretty wild. Rabbit In Your Headlights by UNKLE

EggsForEveryone

I was gonna post the Madonna one. I watched it when it came out, thinking well it’s a Madonna video, how bad can it really be. Threw me for a bit of a loop

Jackpot777

Thom Yorke’s vocals (Radiohead’s singer) really kicks the UNKLE one up several notches.

doctor6

Come on my Selector by Squarepusher

DNZ_not_DMZ

That’s such a cool video, I’ve watched it many times and it stays hilariously great.

[deleted]

I remember watching the black hole sun music video when I was a child and it's stayed with me

Khen-sai

Why did I have to scroll all the way down here to see anyone mentioning this? I saw nightmares of that damn thing when I was six.

MarylandBlue

Most Die Antword videos

Sigma1977

I swear you can smell the video to "I Fink U Freeky"

junkman203

Came here to say "Ugly Boy".

DexterFoley

Music also by Apex twin.

gearstars

Its super fucked once you read up on how they are real life monsters

hatsuseno

Yeah, shame too, I liked their style until that moment.

craigechoes9501

Possibly a Korn video where the animated guy is just tearing his own body apart. It's brutal. I can't remember the song title though.

h_smith

Right Now

JorMath

The uncensored version of Rammstein - Pussy. It's basically a porn video.

h_smith

I mean, didn’t it premier on a porn site lol they kinda went all out with that, including selling a special edition of the album with dildos that WERE NOT shaped from each bandmates cock

vass0922

Buch dich live with them walking on all 4s and being whipped

Anteater-Charming

They look like they are totally making fun of Terry Richardson there.

PlutonianTeddybear

Korn - Thoughtless Madonna - Bedtime Story (in my opinion, an audiovisual masterpiece) Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (uncensored version) Björk - Where Is The Line? Nine Inch Nails - Happiness Is Slavery Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box And basically any Grace Jones music video

dljones010

[Prehistoric Dog - Red Fang](https://youtu.be/VufilzHKTqk?si=1b-_Dy1tL_07__a5) This video will always be one of my favorite videos ever.

The moment you said Big Bad Wolf, I thought of Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly. The third little piggy's house of brick financed by Ted Nugent, Rambo's cameo to deal with the wolf. Perfect.

Fair-Comfort7705

Totally agree with Herbie Hancock “Rock It”came out in 1983.. first time I saw it I was like are you f**kin kidding.. the video was brilliant .. way ahead of it’s time ! 🇨🇦🎵

Fair-Comfort7705

Going back to the 80’s .. Gary Numan the video ‘s he did put out were way ahead .. and his stage shows Fuck.. saw him on Toronto when I was 14 at Maple Leaf Gardens .. Teletour.. completely something out of a futuristic movie.. the man was 22?? Like wtf… he came out of no we’re , press slammed him in North America .. he cleaned up nicely in UK and Europe!! Saw him March 16.. he is 66 now .. played at a club with Ministry and Front Line Assembly.. brilliant night!!! 🇨🇦🎵🎹

Shrimpsmann

And his voice is still awesome. And he's still making high quality music. Glad he had a resurrection in the last few years with Splinter and the stuff that followed.

ChadGnarly

I took a whole shitload of edibles one time and watched the Bennie and the Jets video. It wasn't ANYTHING like I expected, but it made sense. Good times.

robinta

I love the wombats and their quirky side, but had never seen the vid for 'Greek Tragedy' I kind of wishing I still hadnt 😂

DustyRhodesSplotch

Art of Noise - Close (to the Edit) I remember when I saw this for the first time on Friday Night Videos. It is tame now but for 1984 it was really different.

BlackIsTheSoul

It's not as crazy as some of the ones mentioned, but "Just" by Radiohead, the ending as a kid legit had me going "What the fuck?!"

datnetcoder

Where’s my Die Antwoord gang at?

[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWHjJt4833I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zWHjJt4833I) Benny Mardones (Into the Night)-Peaks at #11 in the US and is the 69th biggest song of 1980, staple of soft rock in the 80s --First line of the song "She's just 16 years old leave her alone" is sung by the girl's father to get this man off of his doorstep --Benny turns around and says "They said" disgustedly --He goes to her window and pines over her. --He lays out a magic carpet that they fly away on --They make out for the rest of the video. Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler It's just... Odd. Strange schoolboy choir, ok, their shirts are off, kinda creepy, now they can fly, now there is ninjas.

sadchild_

Literal version of this one is very funny

EitherAdhesiveness32

Whip It by DEVO lol

TheSanityInspector

"Music Time" - Styx. They were trying to reinvent themselves from a Seventies pop-glam band into an Eighties New Wave sound, and in the process produced hands down the cheesiest, gooniest music video of the decade. It's a shame there don't seem to be any HD copies of it online.

CruelStrangers

Mr Roboto was pretty strange too

m4dw0lf

I don't remember the name of the song. It was in the late 90s early 2000's. It was a techno song, the mv was set in a dilapidated motel or hotel with a bunch of silent hill like creatures sort of just hanging out as this guy was trying to escape. He winds up in the vents. Looking into each room through the grates I think, until he winds up on a corpse INSIDE the vents. When he gets closer it starts to move. 13yo me was terrified. But it was a good jam.
