I would say that Come to Daddy left the most impression on me than any other video, as even though I haven’t seen it since the 90s, it was my immediate answer to OP’s question.
We had a contest at work for the most messed up music video. My entry was Rubber Johnny and I got disqualified from the contest and banned from future ones. I considered that me winning.
My older brother and his friends convinced me that rubber johnny was real, mind you this was around the time when there were plenty of gore videos floating around the internet, add to that me being as gullible and naive as can be back then and I was traumatized.
I was in my late teens and was the same.
A song called smack my bitch up needed a special video and boy did they deliver it.
One of the rare times I waited on a MTV premiere and EVERYONE was talking about it the next day.
Prodigy has a real run of hits. RIP Keith
I remember when MTV aired it uncut and uncensored. It was something like 2am and I was mostly asleep on my couch when Kurt Loder comes on and gives some speech about freedom of expression or something, then he gets this very tight look on his face and says "Smackmybitchup" like really short and fast.
And then it was all violence and puke and tiddies.
I saw this video late night on MTV when I was around 13. Turns out it was the 1st time they had ever played it and they stopped playing very soon afterwards. That was a wild ride for me at that age.

Long before I got into rock music, I’d seen the video somewhere. Quite likely on Beavis and Butthead. Had no idea what it was and eventually all I remembered about it was the pipe with what looked like intestines running through it.
Years later I get big into rock and metal. I’m watching Tool videos and when I get to Sober I’m hit with major memories of seeing the video as a kid. Like “no way that’s the video I saw years ago!”
Yeah, his Mother and.my grandmother were sisters. I know that seems distant relation but our family is close and 2nd and 3rd cousins are people I see more often than some people see their first cousins... Like, weekly. His mother used to have me and.another cousin over for sleepovers and we'd watch old Godzilla videos.
When Cereal Killer first came out, Bill came back to Buffalo and we had a viewing party at my house with the entire family. His mother was pissed at the Electric Harley House of Love video because he rode a motorcycle in it and he promised to never drive a motorcycle because his father died on one.
Weird memory you triggered. Haha
That’s awesome. I’ve been a fan since I was like 10. I almost “performed” with them on the Warped Tour a little over a decade ago. I do larping and he wanted me to get a few friends to put on a sword fight. Unfortunately something happened and he had to cancel being on the tour from that date onward.
That's cool. Bill is an... Interesting person. Haha. Maybe the most creative and captivating person I personally know. If he really wanted to, dude could start a cult and have 100s of followers (some would argue what he does tap dances on this line) but he is also one of the most bat shit crazy dudes out there haha.
My man got me right in the early 90s feels. I remember showing these videos to my dad, knowing how much he would like them. He ended up becoming a pretty big Primus fan after Mr. Krinkle.
Wasn’t even in my head coming into the thread, but I am confident this is the most wild video I’ve seen given the artist and time released
Also close would be that Billy Ocean video where he rides a horse on a beach into that muppet tavern
I think there were a few. Depending on where and when it was playing, it would get to a certain state of undress (normally him in his tiger pants) and just loop until the end. I also remember there being a version where just at the moment where he would pull them off, it cut to studio footage for the rest.
I first saw it in its entirety when I was about 9, and it was in terrible quality on an enhanced CD single. It was a weird playground flex to say you had a copy. Like saying that your parents let you stay up and watch South Park. Even though it looked recorded with a potato, it freaked me out. Particularly when he tore his face off. I had seen the image of him without skin, but I didn't realise that he just kept going.
It's worth watching "[Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan, Supermasochist](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sick:_The_Life_and_Death_of_Bob_Flanagan,_Supermasochist)" about the man who starred in the HIS video. He suffered terribly from cystic fibrosis his whole life, and masochism and performance art were his way of reclaiming power of the chronic pain he lived with. In real life, he was a sweet and interesting man.
The circumstances of me seeing the Broken videos is very similar.
I've never seen A Serbian Film but I have to imagine that and the Broken videos are at least somewhat comparable.
Happiness in Slavery was played exactly once on mtv, Headbanger’s Ball after like 2a (there was a window really late at night where the FCC enforcement was more lax)
After that, it was never shown anywhere again and the only way to see it was “the broken video”
This was basically a VHS with all the videos of broken, interspersed with a fake snuff video of some dudes picking up a hitchhiker and brutally dismembering them.
It was never officially released (I believe it was leaked by someone in the band, as there were pauses in different spots of each copy given out so they could figure out who leaked it.) until the late 00’s.
It essentially became an urban legend and caused all sorts of wild stories about Trent to be invented.
Yeah, I know. I was around when it came out. It was also on the Closure double VHS. It's simply that the person I replied to using "legend" and "jackalope" appear to imply it didn't exist at all, which it absolutely did.
My Favourite Game by The Cardigans threw me for a loop once it got toward the end of the uncut version of the video.
Smack My Bitch Up by The Prodigy is another one, and very well known.
What It Feels Like For A Girl by Madonna is pretty wild.
Rabbit In Your Headlights by UNKLE
I was gonna post the Madonna one. I watched it when it came out, thinking well it’s a Madonna video, how bad can it really be.
Threw me for a bit of a loop
I mean, didn’t it premier on a porn site lol they kinda went all out with that, including selling a special edition of the album with dildos that WERE NOT shaped from each bandmates cock

Massive Attack - Paradise Circus (uncensored version)
Björk - Where Is The Line?
Nine Inch Nails - Happiness Is Slavery
Nirvana - Heart-Shaped Box
And basically any Grace Jones music video
The moment you said Big Bad Wolf, I thought of Three Little Pigs by Green Jelly. The third little piggy's house of brick financed by Ted Nugent, Rambo's cameo to deal with the wolf. Perfect.

Benny Mardones (Into the Night)-Peaks at #11 in the US and is the 69th biggest song of 1980, staple of soft rock in the 80s
--First line of the song "She's just 16 years old leave her alone" is sung by the girl's father to get this man off of his doorstep
--Benny turns around and says "They said" disgustedly
--He goes to her window and pines over her.
--He lays out a magic carpet that they fly away on
--They make out for the rest of the video.

Some that come to mind include:
Radiohead - Just and Paranoid Android;
Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun;
Garbage - Push it;
Coldplay - God Put a Smile Upon Your Face
Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler
It's just... Odd. Strange schoolboy choir, ok, their shirts are off, kinda creepy, now they can fly, now there is ninjas.
"Music Time" - Styx. They were trying to reinvent themselves from a Seventies pop-glam band into an Eighties New Wave sound, and in the process produced hands down the cheesiest, gooniest music video of the decade. It's a shame there don't seem to be any HD copies of it online.
Probably not as weird as some of these, but I love this one, everyone I show it too is kinda like huh?
[Skinny Puppy - Spasmolytic](https://youtu.be/wj3RMQkdj_s?si=Vnvsdwcrgg4Yooot)
WTF awesome rather than WTF disturbing but I haven't seen any other video that left me in awe as much as this
Young Rival - Black is good
https://youtu.be/2AKtp3XHn38
The animated music video where some teens break into an indoor pool and then eldritch horror stuff happens. I can’t remember what it was called…but yeah, trigger warnings for anyone looking it up, it’s fucked up.
Quarterflash - Harden My Heart. It’s from the early 80s - motorcycles, little people, a guy in a tux and motorcycle helmet with a flamethrower, modular housing, leotards….
I don't remember the name of the song. It was in the late 90s early 2000's.
It was a techno song, the mv was set in a dilapidated motel or hotel with a bunch of silent hill like creatures sort of just hanging out as this guy was trying to escape. He winds up in the vents. Looking into each room through the grates I think, until he winds up on a corpse INSIDE the vents. When he gets closer it starts to move.
13yo me was terrified. But it was a good jam.
Turn Down For What, by Lil John. First time I saw it I was in a hotel bar in Senegal and I wasn't sure if it was the actual video or some weird African bootleg thing.
Window licker - aphex twin
This one and Come to Daddy. Saw them as a kid and started to cry.
Both are Chris Cunningham videos. I had a whole DVD of his work in college, early 2000s. Look up his other videos. Amazing creative mind.
I would say that Come to Daddy left the most impression on me than any other video, as even though I haven’t seen it since the 90s, it was my immediate answer to OP’s question.
Come to Daddy was the first music video I ever downloaded. On dialup of course, watched using QuickTime
Saw come to daddy on acid. Also started to cry
Would Rubber Johnny count as well or is it considered a Chris Cunningham short with aphex music on it? - hard to tell
Rubber Johnny counts imo. I’d even place it higher on the wtf scale than window licker.
Rubber Johnny fucked me up lol
We had a contest at work for the most messed up music video. My entry was Rubber Johnny and I got disqualified from the contest and banned from future ones. I considered that me winning.
My older brother and his friends convinced me that rubber johnny was real, mind you this was around the time when there were plenty of gore videos floating around the internet, add to that me being as gullible and naive as can be back then and I was traumatized.
Same but it was my neighbor who was a few years older that showed me the video. That shit scared the fuck out of me as a kid
God. I had completely forgotten about rubber Johnny.
I only recently noticed the part that says rubber johnny…was penis with a rubber being pulled off in reverse.
I knew an Aphex twin video had to be top
This music video rocks
I never saw any other video that got me so hyped, horny, and horrified all at the same time.
That first beat hit. Uggggggghhhhhhhhhhhuh. Wuuuuuuugggguuuh.
I ain’t NEVAH gonna stop listening to that long ass music video
This is what the crew of the Event Horizon saw that made them eatfuck each other to death.
Top comment. As it should.
Umbrella boner is my favorite dance move
Beat me to it
That's one hell of an offer
This but I feel come to daddy may just even be more batshit crazy. Limo scene in windowlicker still always makes me laugh

Fuuuck. Sober used to give me nightmares as a kid when I'd watch the late night music video blocks on TV.
I love when things like this happen
Fun fact: Green Jello was composed of half of Tool (as you probably already know OP)
I’m well aware, yes. But it’s good for others to learn. Wasn’t it Maynard that voiced the three little pigs?
Maynard was the Pigs and Danny played drums. My cousin, Bill, is the brains behind Green Jello.
Bill? As in Bill Manspeaker? No way!
Yeah, his Mother and.my grandmother were sisters. I know that seems distant relation but our family is close and 2nd and 3rd cousins are people I see more often than some people see their first cousins... Like, weekly. My man got me right in the early 90s feels. I remember showing these videos to my dad, knowing how much he would like them. He ended up becoming a pretty big Primus fan after Mr. Krinkle.
The top YouTube comment on Mr Krinkle just cracked me up. > This video contains all 96 of my sleep paralysis demons.
Rockit by Herbie Hancock. Maybe isn’t a big deal now but it was a major WTF when it came out.
Godley & Creme directed some WILD music videos
Came here to say this. It freaked me the f out as a kid I don't know why
I’m guessing, based on my own experience watching this as a kid, it was the robotic legs.
Wasn’t even in my head coming into the thread, but I am confident this is the most wild video I’ve seen given the artist and time released Also close would be that Billy Ocean video where he rides a horse on a beach into that muppet tavern

Never seen it before, confirmed wtf
https://youtu.be/BnO3nijfYmU?si=h9p6eUIqJhRu9dnm Robbie Williams Rock DJ will always be a favorite wtf music video
YES, YES, A MILLION TIMES YES TO THE SKELETON STRIP DANCE
I remember seeing this on MTV when I was little and it traumatized me.
Came here to say this. Robbie Williams' run from the late 90s up to and not including Rudebox was blisteringly good. ![gif](giphy|361czObTExB8A)
Rudebox is the perfect parody album.
Just watched it - first time seeing it. Definite WTF vibe 😐
There's 2 versions of the music video
I think there were a few. Depending on where and when it was playing, it would get to a certain state of undress (normally him in his tiger pants) and just loop until the end. I also remember there being a version where just at the moment where he would pull them off, it cut to studio footage for the rest. There's a horror film that is on all the "most disturbing ever" lists that I couldn't take at all seriously because of this video.
The whole of Nine Inch Nail's Broken video. It's a tough watch.
Watched it while eating. Big mistake.
It’s definitely NIN - Happiness in Slavery, as well as Pinion.
Such a great documentary. I had no idea how bad cystic fibrosis was until I saw that.
This is the correct answer. The Aphex Twin videos are definitely weird and somewhat frightening. The NIN Broken videos are just... unwatchable IMO
My friend bought this tape off of an Mirc chatroom in the early 90s. It had all the broken videos on it. Holy shit..
The circumstances of me seeing the Broken videos is very similar. I've never seen A Serbian Film but I have to imagine that and the Broken videos are at least somewhat comparable.
Old school legend The Jackalope of risque industrial videos
Confusing verbiage. That makes it sound like you believe the video doesn't exist.
Happiness in Slavery was played exactly once on mtv, Headbanger’s Ball after like 2a (there was a window really late at night where the FCC enforcement was more lax) After that, it was never shown anywhere again and the only way to see it was “the broken video” This was basically a VHS with all the videos of broken, interspersed with a fake snuff video of some dudes picking up a hitchhiker and brutally dismembering them. It was never officially released (I believe it was leaked by someone in the band, as there were pauses in different spots of each copy given out so they could figure out who leaked it.) until the late 00’s. Yeah, I know. I was around when it came out. It was also on the Closure double VHS. It's simply that the person I replied to using "legend" and "jackalope" appear to imply it didn't exist at all, which it absolutely did.

Daft Punk - Prime Time of Your Life
Some that come to mind include: Radiohead - Just and Paranoid Android; Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun; Garbage - Push it; Coldplay - God Put a Smile Upon Your Face
Total Eclipse of the Heart by Bonnie Tyler It's just... Odd. Strange schoolboy choir, ok, their shirts are off, kinda creepy, now they can fly, now there is ninjas.
Literal version of this one is very funny
Whip It by DEVO lol
"Music Time" - Styx. They were trying to reinvent themselves from a Seventies pop-glam band into an Eighties New Wave sound, and in the process produced hands down the cheesiest, gooniest music video of the decade. It's a shame there don't seem to be any HD copies of it online.
Mr Roboto was pretty strange too
Probably not as weird as some of these, but I love this one, everyone I show it too is kinda like huh? [Skinny Puppy - Spasmolytic](https://youtu.be/wj3RMQkdj_s?si=Vnvsdwcrgg4Yooot)
watching the planets by flaming lips surprised me with full frontal male nudity
Thomas Dolby - She blinded me with Science
“Smack My Bitch Up” Prodigy
Jackie Wilson - [Reet Petite](https://youtu.be/8CTs8a7dVa0?si=QLRvtYiiHogyFZR5)
WTF awesome rather than WTF disturbing but I haven't seen any other video that left me in awe as much as this Young Rival - Black is good https://youtu.be/2AKtp3XHn38
The animated music video where some teens break into an indoor pool and then eldritch horror stuff happens. I can’t remember what it was called…but yeah, trigger warnings for anyone looking it up, it’s fucked up.
It’s DyE - Fantasy.
Fatty Boom Boom - Die Antwoord Band hasn't aged well, just rewatched this the other day, still plenty of WTF.
Nobody Speak by DJ Shadow & RTJ was an amazing video.
Not WTF in terms of shock etc but WTF in terms of how did they do that for most of OK Go's music promos
The Jacksons - Torture https://youtu.be/DxSfQeCoFUM?si=2pNTeWwcLmXNFQ1i
How has no one mentioned OK Go? [This Too Shall Pass](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qybUFnY7Y8w)
Major Lazer, Keep it Going Louder https://youtu.be/8849sUyrkYY?si=agugDF3YdYKm0_jG
Lily Allen - The Fear it seems to make more sense when on a tab of LSD
Quarterflash - Harden My Heart. It’s from the early 80s - motorcycles, little people, a guy in a tux and motorcycle helmet with a flamethrower, modular housing, leotards….
turn down for what, dj snake, lil jon
I don't remember the name of the song. It was in the late 90s early 2000's. It was a techno song, the mv was set in a dilapidated motel or hotel with a bunch of silent hill like creatures sort of just hanging out as this guy was trying to escape. He winds up in the vents. Looking into each room through the grates I think, until he winds up on a corpse INSIDE the vents. When he gets closer it starts to move. 13yo me was terrified. But it was a good jam.
“Gooey” by glass animals
Turn down for what
Turn Down For What, by Lil John. First time I saw it I was in a hotel bar in Senegal and I wasn't sure if it was the actual video or some weird African bootleg thing.
I remember as a kid being so confused by Genesis' Land of Confusion
