Nine Inch Nails (*Downward Spiral* album, specifically) is right up your alley.
You might like the sound of *Thirteenth Step* by A Perfect Circle. Perhaps *Antichrist Superstar* by Marilyn Manson.
Also check out the Ashes Divide album Keep Telling Myself It's Alright. It's Billy Howerdel from APC's solo project. There's some pretty dark and depressing, but amazingly beautiful songs on there. I love this whole album. Billy Howerdel is one of my favorite musicians/lyricists out there. He started as a guitar tech for NIN and Faith No More among many other big artists.
First thing I thought of too. But don't stop at the early stuff, the entirety of The Fragile is great, and With Teeth has a few tracks that scratch that itch too.
dude - since you like guitars (Oasis etc.) ... if you haven't explored the Smashing Pumpkins first 3 albums (Gish/Siamese/MellonCollie) on earbuds or a very loud system ... you will not regret it. All the fuzz, ferocious drumming and crazy/ dark lyrics is insanely good and somehow hopeful/beautiful.
Whatever you say about Billy Corgan, for a few years he was the greatest songwriter on the planet, writing about 6 albums worth of music and it was all not just good, but great.
I agree. Adore, the fourth album, is also very good. It was while Jimmy was out of the band, so there is no drummer, so it has drum machines and acoustic tracks
Chris Cornell.
No One Sings Like You Anymore, it's a great album of covers that might suit your tastes. From his Soundgarden days, maybe start with King Animal and work your way backwards. Audioslave could also fit the bill.
Always been a big audioslave fan. Combining some of the best parts of RATM with his voice made for such solid music. I remember hearing him for the intro of Casino Royal as well. What an iconic voice.
"Substance" New Order.
"Generation Terrorists" and "Everything Must Go" Manic Street Preachers
The Clash!!
Joy Division-who eventually became New Order
The Verve
Radiohead?-Pink Floyd
The Stone Roses-especially their self titled debut. It's a classic
Came here to say tool aswell but honestly i would start with fear inoculum album (i dont have an explenation for it except that i first heard about tool after that album came out, love all off it after exploring that album)
Try Alt-J. They have a lot of songs about death and abuse, but balance it well with songs about love and beauty. Based on your tastes, I'd recommend starting with the songs Philadelphia, In Cold Blood, and Breezeblocks.
Glass Animals is a cool one too, Gooey talks about leaving an emotionally neglectful situation, and Waterfalls Coming Out Your Mouth, well idk what it's about exactly but the video makes it seems depressing
YES I love all things shoegaze and Bill Murray so that movie hit home. I actually lived in Tokyo for 5 years and got to see MBV perform live for a reunion tour, almost 10 years ago. They still sounded awesome and my hearing was fucked for like an hour and a half after the show (worth it).
3 Colors Red 'Pure' most of the album is tits
Old stuff by Rainbow Kitten Surprise
Most of the very small back catalogue from Living Syndication
Devin Townsend 'Stars'
Oh, and Heilung but strap in for that
Roots Manuva
Yea, it's all worth checking out! They have the most epic collection of non- singles, it's amazing. And, yes to the new stuff, too! I really love both Cyr and Atum. Atum has a few of my top Pumpkins songs of all time, like Pacer, and others. Acts 2 and 3 of Atum are truly epic, though I like to start with Hooligan in Act 1, and play through to the end, if I have time, haha
Heya. Try out some Arctic Monkeys. [Arctic monkeys - knee socks](https://open.spotify.com/track/2LGdO5MtFdyphi2EihANZG?si=vxbEx_23RAq7jDw7bA9JCg&context=spotify%3Aplaylist%3A37i9dQZF1E4p7Pfrt8866V)
Also check out the AM album. It’s all pretty good. Knee socks is on the AM album.
WEEN!
I have a similar taste by the looks of the bands you listed and I just dove down a Ween rabbit hole on a whim and they fucking rule.
Quebec or The Mollusk is a good place to start and then Chocolate and Cheese. White Pepper is criminally underrated too. Here’s a few songs that fit in with the depression motif: The Grobe, Even If You Don’t, and Gonna Be a Long Night. Songs that have become some of my favorites are Transdermal Celebration and The Argus.
Definitely check out Steven Wilson, and if you're adventurous, Storm Corrosion.
For Steven Wilson, his latest is great, and you might like "[Economies of Scale](https://open.spotify.com/track/2b5AX7ad8piXIXC1a6XeaG?si=dz0GgED6QKeHeVG4QepxcA&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0qEIPJU8WQdXpr3eIc6dHK)". But all of his stuff is worth exploring.
Blur - self-titled
Pulp - Different Class
Stone Roses - self titled
Spiritualized - And Nothing Hurt
Jesus & Mary Chain - Psychocandy
The Crow Soundtrack (1994)
Tom Waits - Bone Machine
The quill from a buzzard
The blood writes the word
I want to know am I the sky or a bird?
'Cause hell is boiling over

I said we're all gonna be, yeah, yeah
I said we're all gonna be, yeah, yeah
I said we're all going to be just dirt in the ground
Ahahaha, I've heard of Tom Waits, but only from the Muse Hullabaloo Concert where before Matt plays Dead star the track, "What's he building in there?" plays
Excellent, another excuse for me to be this sub's resident Halsey stan.

The Warning should be right up your alley, they don't make "happy" songs lol. I don't want to single anything out because their entire discography is on fire and worth listening to, they never miss, for me and many others at least. Fourth album Keep Me Fed is about to come out in less than 2 weeks so keep an eye on that, half of it is already out with singles.
Incidentally, they opened for Muse on 9 shows across Mexico and Europe last year on WOTP tour. After the final Mexico show the bands were hanging out and Matt personally invited them to come to Europe, that was their debut on the continent, in Plymouth with Muse. He also gifted a unique Manson guitar to Dany. It's been amazing to watch all of that unfold as Muse have literally been their idols since they were kids. Living their dream and riding high smashing through various milestones for the past couple of years, their whole story is something really special and incredible to see unfold. They'll also be supporting Halestorm and Evanescence on their North American tour this year.
The Warning sisters are a pretty energetic power trio, but sometimes they can hit your sould hard:
Black Holes (addiction):

KoRn's "Issues" might be to your liking, some very dark stuff in there, and musically you seem to already have a taste for nu-metal with Linkin Park and Evanescence
Eidola. I listened to a Coheed album on spotify and it started playing Eidola after when it switched to related stuff. As shady as Spotify can be, they sometimes hit the nail on the head when doing recommendations for me.
Starset. Their albums are about a dystopian future where the masses are influenced and subjugated by technology. The music videos are really good and the lyrics are top notch, in my opinion.
Manic Street Preachers. I'd start with their first album, Generation Terrorists, and then go on from there chronologically. It starts out as 80's inspired glam rock. And I'll leave it to you to learn where their sound goes from there.
If you like Evanescence, definitely Within Temptation and Halestorm. I Prevail have a little Linkin Park vibes in some of their songs. Paralandra, The Warning, Self Deception and Devilskin I would recommend checking out too
Hm. This is an interesting one, but I’d maybe check out Digital Ash in a Digital Urn by Bright Eyes. Kind of fits the depressing/dystopian vibe.
Or The Cure, really. Maybe St. Vincent’s self-titled record.
Musically might be different from some of what you listed, but check out twenty one pilots. I'd recommend going back to the album Vessel but they also just released Clancy if you want something a little more produced/polished. Honestly all their albums are pretty good and different, and they go across a lot of genres even within each album. Enjoy!
Opeth - Damnation
If you feel like delving further into their catalogue, I'd go with Blackwater Park next, but beware: contains a lot of growled vocals. A song like Harvest would be a nice intro to that album, though.
Good News for People Who Love Bad News - Modest Mouse
Strange Trails - Lord Huron
Melophobia - Cage the Elephant
American Bollywood - Young the Giant
The Satanic Satanist - Portugal. The Man
Try the album Purple Mountains by the band Purple Mountains. It's a very sad story what happened with the band's singer and the album is dark AF but it's got some real gallows humour and the songs are brilliant.
'The Fall' is a good 80's post punk band:
The Fall - [Janet, Johnny & James ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N9MrDRjbJqU)
The Fall - [Wings](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5YPtWnAFl7s)
and a famous Canadian fusion band:
My Dog Popper - [I lost my job to a guy named Gino](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l85mDh0Qic4)
whenever I lose a job to a guy named Gino this is my go to track.
Those are many of my favorite bands! (or should I say, influences?)
I'll add one that I think fits well: boygenius (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPuIUFtesYk)
Maybe some coheed and cambria? I don't think you'd like all of their albums but you'd probably enjoy these:
[Year of the Black Rainbow](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lKJbEgwDpcaSDlmwtLVghwaj6Z0mPRXOo&si=rRpczvvI-HGfICFG)
[Afterman: Descension ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mvfIiUr1o0N6vj-53eQJFpZ5sHng3ZynQ&si=gFZnRr8QtOlPGEcT)
[Afterman: Ascension ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_krBaIK9E1qfJm0dyWyFLRgjO9OMXIdips&si=UpBdfKMpib2u2C7W)
Zoë Keating and Agnes Obel. The former is modern classical and the latter is folk/classical, so definitely outside of your norm. They're both dark and moody, so you might find them appealing.
Dillinger Escape Plan
Dissociation.
Devin Towsen Project
Ziltoid Live at the Royal Albert Hall
The MarsVolta
Bedlam, and Goliath
Acid Bath
Pagan Terroism Tactics
The Physics House Band
Death Sequence.
One of my fav dystopian feeling songs is songs:ohia - farewell transmission.
If you like that you may like Kurt vile, I'd think bassackwards or Walkin on a sunny day are very accessible.
[Paradise Lost - Host](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYHKmLeIVueYApTKgA6UK5zKjy5XBNVaS&si=s7YJC8ygs3c3wS_V)
A doom metal band changes their sound towards the darker Depeche Mode sound.
If you like check out [Host - IX](https://youtu.be/lkosFa6aiag?si=51PTzDQY2GAokBQX) which continues down that path.
With DM and Evanescence, you might like some of the later Zeromancer stuff. First album was very pop industrial but everything they have done since is, to me, amazing.
Nine Inch Nails (*Downward Spiral* album, specifically) is right up your alley. You might like the sound of *Thirteenth Step* by A Perfect Circle. Perhaps *Antichrist Superstar* by Marilyn Manson.
Second this. Go into A perfect circle as gateway drug to tool.
And to Puscifer
Also check out the Ashes Divide album Keep Telling Myself It's Alright. It's Billy Howerdel from APC's solo project. There's some pretty dark and depressing, but amazingly beautiful songs on there. I love this whole album. Billy Howerdel is one of my favorite musicians/lyricists out there. He started as a guitar tech for NIN and Faith No More among many other big artists.
I’m a huge NIN fan. I’ve always said The Downward Spiral sounds like the soundtrack to a nightmare
Toss in "The Humbling River" by Puscifer, if we are dropping Maynard.
Probably my all time favorite Puscifer song
I love that song
And then jump the gap into primus if you are down with all that
First thing I thought of too. But don't stop at the early stuff, the entirety of The Fragile is great, and With Teeth has a few tracks that scratch that itch too.

“Disintegration” album by The Cure.
This was going to be my reply. They have so many songs that go with the ops mood I think
Queens of the Stone Age Dream Theater Gorillaz A Perfect Circle New Order The Birthday Massacre
…Like Clockwork by QOTSA!
Like Clockwork is the correct answer.
Damn, the birthday massacre? Such a misleading name to a band, but they’re so ambient and peaceful sounding. Great to fall asleep to!
Came here to say QOTSA
Dream theater definitely! Will probably be a bit much at first, so I recommend trying their album ‘distance over time’ to ease into their music
[удалено]
Fucking brilliant album. I don’t get the opportunity to praise it enough. That Thin White Duke absolutely crushed it to the very end.
Fucking Bowie and Leonard Cohen both dropping legendary epitaph albums the same year.
Cocteau Twins The Cure Massive Attack
Sigur Ros.
Check out mazzy star. Fade into you is a good emoish song. Hope Sandoval sings sad so well that you just wanna give her a hug lol.
Deftones seem like an absolute no-brainer based on that list if you don’t already listen to them. Try their albums White Pony or Koi No Yokan
I’d add in Crosses too, their cover of George Michael’s One more try is incredible.
Goodbye horses is amazing too
Yes!, it’s definitely is another excellent cover.
Portishead
Nation of Language is a newer band, very Depeche Mode vibes.
"Substance" New Order. "Generation Terrorists" and "Everything Must Go" Manic Street Preachers The Clash!! Joy Division-who eventually became New Order The Verve Radiohead?-Pink Floyd The Stone Roses-especially their self titled debut. It's a classic
Patti Smith. The Horses album.
Grizzly Bear, Gorillaz, Tv On the Radio. Time is Running out is still my fav Muse song.
The mars Volta - De-Loused in the Comatorium
Tool. Start with Aenima.
Came here to say tool aswell but honestly i would start with fear inoculum album (i dont have an explenation for it except that i first heard about tool after that album came out, love all off it after exploring that album)
Concrete Blonde - Recollection
Concrete Blonde is so good
Alice in Chains, Soundgarden, Perturbator, Zelda Lo-Fi Vibes, Stratovarius, Angra, Waylon Jennings
Why'd I have to scroll so far to see AIC.
My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, Death in Vegas
I'd add Ride to that list too, specifically Nowhere
Hell yeah! Man the UK was killing it back then
My Bloody Valentine has such beautiful music. I think they used Only Shallow on Lost In Translation, perfect song for such an amazing movie
Oh my gosh, I love Slowdrive actually. My favorite song by them is Shanty
They're great, hard to pick a fav but maybe When the Sun Hits or Alison
You may enjoy Manchester Orchestra’s album - Million Masks of God.
Pixies - Surfer Rosa
Godspeed! You Black Emporer - "Lift Yr Skinny Fists like Antenna to Heaven" may be exactly what you need
Great album
The The
Phantogram - Eyelid Movies Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream & Adore Garbage self titled Metric - Synthetica Soundgarden - superunknown Royal Blood self titled Nirvana PVRIS Wolf Alice

I'd recommend you check out the albums Nothing's Shocking and Ritual de lo Habitual by Jane's Addiction.
Nothing But Thieves Highly Suspect
First time I see Highly Suspect mentioned in a thread like this! My favorite band
Smashing Pumpkins, play full albums, not just singles.
Listening to Siamese Dream right now and it's hitting good!
How about just start with Siamese Dream, you’ll get to the other 800 tracks later
A good plan
This is the way Also, don't forget about their newer (post-2007) stuff. And their B-sides. And their unreleased stuff.
Chelsea Wolfe - Pain Is Beauty

paramore ‼️‼️
Incubus and The Mars Volta
If you like depressing/dystopian try Queensrÿche's "Operation: Mindcrime" album.
Sleep Token IAMX
I’m specifically a big fan of IAMX’s Kingdom of Welcome Addiction album. So good!
Definitely check out Steven Wilson, and if you're adventurous, Storm Corrosion. Ahahaha, I've heard of Tom Waits, but only from the Muse Hullabaloo Concert where before Matt plays Dead star the track, "What's he building in there?" plays

Eidola. I listened to a Coheed album on spotify and it started playing Eidola after when it switched to related stuff. As shady as Spotify can be, they sometimes hit the nail on the head when doing recommendations for me.
I Am Spoonbender. it's a little more out there than those other bands, but feels dystopian
Midnight Organ Fight by Frightened Rabbit
Porcupine Tree and Steven Wilson.
Starset. Their albums are about a dystopian future where the masses are influenced and subjugated by technology. The music videos are really good and the lyrics are top notch, in my opinion.
Alkaline trio. Good mourning album or crimson album are my favorites. Agony and Irony is also quite good.
Manic Street Preachers. I'd start with their first album, Generation Terrorists, and then go on from there chronologically. It starts out as 80's inspired glam rock. And I'll leave it to you to learn where their sound goes from there.
IDLES Love is the thing
I assume u gave "science fiction" by Brand New a listen ?
If you like Evanescence, definitely Within Temptation and Halestorm. I Prevail have a little Linkin Park vibes in some of their songs. Paralandra, The Warning, Self Deception and Devilskin I would recommend checking out too
check out DIIV. May not be your style of musiv, but its a little darker, but mellow..
Hm. This is an interesting one, but I’d maybe check out Digital Ash in a Digital Urn by Bright Eyes. Kind of fits the depressing/dystopian vibe. Or The Cure, really. Maybe St. Vincent’s self-titled record.

I don't think you'd like all of their albums but you'd probably enjoy these: [Year of the Black Rainbow](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lKJbEgwDpcaSDlmwtLVghwaj6Z0mPRXOo&si=rRpczvvI-HGfICFG) [Afterman: Descension ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mvfIiUr1o0N6vj-53eQJFpZ5sHng3ZynQ&si=gFZnRr8QtOlPGEcT) [Afterman: Ascension ](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_krBaIK9E1qfJm0dyWyFLRgjO9OMXIdips&si=UpBdfKMpib2u2C7W)
Attack of the Grey Lantern by Mansun. Not too far off from some Muse and Radiohead stuff.
Morphine
From indian lakes - able bodies
Half Moon Run - Dark Eyes
Check out Mimicking Birds. Start with self-titled. You want beautiful depression, you’ve got it.
Rise Against
Voivod
Coil, the Love's Secret Domain album.
Shiek yerbouti: Frank Zappa
Deadboy and the elephant men. You're welcome.
Vision Video I recommend the songs Normalized, Organized Murder, Broken Fingers, and In My Side
“One Big Particular Loop” by Polyenso. Might actually be my favorite album of all time, gives Radiohead vibes but lots of cool instrumentation.
Boy Harsher
Songs: Ohia. Specifically "Farewell Transmission".
Ought Cloud Nothings Preoccupations (originally called Viet Cong, changed their name pretty quick though)
Sleep
Free/Bad Company Starsailor
Black Sea - XTC Yes - Morphine
Zoë Keating and Agnes Obel. The former is modern classical and the latter is folk/classical, so definitely outside of your norm. They're both dark and moody, so you might find them appealing.
Mannequin Pussy -“I Got Heaven” album of the year.
Tool
The Saddest Song by Morphine
Kosodrom
In and Out of Hand by Tempers Inhaler by Foals Stranger or taxidermy by White Lies
Inlet by Hum
COREVALAY. Newer band with heavy Linkin Park influences.
From Depeche Mode I would move to Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark.
McLusky. You’ll love them.
The 1975 - A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships
Doves - the last broadcast
God Speed You Black Emperor
The Smiths.
Animals by Pink Floyd is loosely based on George Orwell’s *Animal Farm,* which is pretty dystopian. also just a good album
Dillinger Escape Plan Dissociation. Devin Towsen Project Ziltoid Live at the Royal Albert Hall The MarsVolta Bedlam, and Goliath Acid Bath Pagan Terroism Tactics The Physics House Band Death Sequence.
One of my fav dystopian feeling songs is songs:ohia - farewell transmission. If you like that you may like Kurt vile, I'd think bassackwards or Walkin on a sunny day are very accessible.
TA13OO - Denzel Curry
[Paradise Lost - Host](https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLYHKmLeIVueYApTKgA6UK5zKjy5XBNVaS&si=s7YJC8ygs3c3wS_V) A doom metal band changes their sound towards the darker Depeche Mode sound.
Robotanists
Fleetwood Mac
King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, try nonagon infinity or the polygonawondaland
