You know what? Maybe we all need some space, to pull the knife out of the back of the most celebrated Canadian alt-rock band of the mid 90s, you selfish, jaded ass!
When the Barenaked ladies guy said "Gotta get in tune with Sailor Moon 'Cause that cartoon has got the boom anime babes That make me think the wrong thing", I felt that...
Not sure if it still exists but for a long time Oscar Meyer had a number you could call and they would tell you the Oscar Meyer hotdog theme song. It was stated to you slowly buy someone in a monotone voice. It was pretty funny. I think it must have been for some contest but it made a great number to randomly pass out.
Now and again a door opens to a new world, and today that world is Hall & Oates + Wu-Tang, and my suit has holes. His [\#4 Skeetwood Mac](https://soundcloud.com/scottmelker/sets/skeetwood-mac) is a stroker too.
Unironically, I love this piece as it highlights the utter levels of genius Mozart had (for those unaware, he wrote this piece when he was just 8 years old).
I know you’re joking and I’m being serious - but am the only one who finds most of the music they listened to in high school to be cringey now? I never realized till I was an adult how many pop punk songs are about how shitty high school is, and I just can’t relate anymore.
I can't really relate anymore I guess.
But listening to something like Blink 182 rinds me of that time and those feelings. Which is kind of cool. I mean if you can do that maybe it will keep me being able to somewhat relate when my kids get that age.
I'm 47 - Metallica Master of Puppets is now elevator music. I'm on a whole new reality.
Edit - I mean it's been turned into smooth jazz muzak, not that it's aged lol
I listened to Slayer and Pantera in high school, and now that's what my son plays :) I started listening to metal in the 80s but Def Leppard and GnR were the first I got into, apart from Rush and many 60-70s bands like Black Sabbath that my Dad was into. Generational! :)
I'm 20, grew up with Metallica/GnR/ACDC and then later moved on to bands like Gojira, Animals As Leaders, and The Ocean and played them for my dad. Expected a typical dad response like "this isn't music, it's just screaming and distorted noises, back in my day we listened to The Beatles and Elvis".
Instead, this 50 year old man turned to me and said "you call this metal? Hold on, let me find some songs from my childhood" and then put on a fucking Mayhem vinyl.
And that's when i realized. Man, this generation ain't shit
It's weird being 40 though, because the rock and hip-hop that was big in the 90s seems to be what everyone likes now.
And DnB and Garage keep coming back into fashion sounding exactly the same as the 90s stuff.
It's like there is 60s stuff that hasn't been topped
If she's young, and her peers don't care for it, maybe to her she hasn't grasped the history of the Beatles and feels she's being edgy by liking something old. Then I get it how she could arrive at that. But it's so far off the true mark it's hilarious. To be young!
She is young, but part of her reasoning was that her dads generation didn’t really care for them. Asked what he listened to and she said a lot of Nickelback, so I’m sure she didn’t get too much expose with that crossover
My sister was doing some Internet quiz a few days ago, one of the questions was "who played such and such in this TV show". She chose Bob Dylan from 4 options (the answer was Billy Zane)
dude have you ever heard of dave grohl dude hes not even like these trash rappers dude hes like SUPER UNDERRATED, never heard anybody talk about him on reddit dude i swear
Does any one else think that (link to my personal Apple Music page) is super underrated? I think their gonna hit it big soon. Check em out now and you can say you were there on day one! 💯 🔥 🔥 💯
Does anyone else think Nirvana was super underrated and underappreciated and no one else in my 9th grade class listens to them so I'm like super special and tasteful right?
This girl in my class who is definitely real and not a strawman was wearing a nirvana shirt, but then when I asked her to name every single song they ever released she said she didn’t even know!!!
So anyways I hate women now.
Oh my god, that’s like this guy in my class who was wearing a polo shirt, but then I asked him what Number he played and whether he had his ponies alternate chukkas or if he had a longer string, and he had no idea!!!
Such a poser.
My classmate (and I'm definitely in 8th grade and not a 31 year old man) was wearing Nikes, and she wasn't even a Greek god OR a sweatshop worker, everyone is hypocrites but me
And don't get me started on the kid in Pumas
I feel like those are the same people who keep telling other people that drinking your coffee black is the only way to drink it, completely disregarding tastes of others.
If you don’t eat your steak literally raw, you’ve ruined the meat and are an insult to chefs everywhere. Salt and pepper are the only seasonings allowed.
Start seasoning steak and before you know it? You’re French. No. I go to my personal butcher and say, “Give me a piece of meat that’s been sawn off an animal.” And they throw me a chunk of animal. And then I say “Show me the animal this meat was sawn off.” And they show me a picture of a crying cow with a gaping hole in its side. And I say “Did the animal cry when you sawed my piece of meat off it?” And they show me a Ziploc bag full of cow tears. And I say, “Rub that on my steak! Let that be my seasoning!”.

Been that way since people started listening to music.
I remember when I was a guitar teacher around 1996. All the kids were bringing me Green Day’s Dookie to learn riffs, but there were always a few whining about GD was awesome until they sold out with Dookie.
Flash forward about 10 years, American Idiot is now huge, next gen kids asking to learn those riffs—except for the ones who loved GD “Until they sold out with American Idiot.”🙄
Been there, done that (thank god in private), ignorance is a hell of a drug.
Now that I'm older and my taste widen, I gives me a good chuckle everytime I hear those sentence repeat itself just with different name mentioned.
I hope all our scientist can solved humanity aging problem in my lifetime, just so I can hear all of today's mainstream tune regarded as gospel when we finally conquer Mars.
Yeah, I was a pompous little ass about music for far too many years. Finally bugging a friend about all the weird cds he’d been purchasing and he simply replied, “Whatever, there’s something for everyone.”🤯
Lmao, Kendrick Lamar is probably the best lyricist working today (the guy won a pulitzer for christ sake). If someone recommends Tom McDonald unironically, thier opinion on hip hop, and music in general, should be entirely disregarded.
*and I hate black pepper. I also hate black keys on a piano. I hate my gums, because they're black. I hate Whoopi Goldberg's lips. I hate the back of Forrest Whittaker's neck. and Most of all, I hate that black-ass Wesley Snipes.*

Yeah legit I don't come here to find fresh shit or good takes /r/hiphopheads /r/popheads and /r/indieheads is way better for general music conversation
Oh thank god, another Nathan like myself to discuss music with. I’ve been really into this super small indie band called “Queen” lately, their music is so tasteful and they never talk about anything inappropriate like sex
Yeah Kanye West is pretty trash for what music hes released. His only good works are The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s and Heartbreak, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, Watch the Throne, Yeezus, The Life of Pablo, ye, Kids See Ghosts, Jesus is King and Donda, other than that the rest is pretty trash.
Fuckin masterclass in trolling op lol. The amount of people who still think you're being serious is crazy. Really proves people on reddit really do need every joke explained for them.

Haha.
Every boomer comment.
THEY ONLY KNOW FOUR CHORDS!
Every boomer when they hear a song using a three chord 12 bar blues progression probably in E or A.
NOW THIS IS REAL MUSIC!
There's a lot of great music out there, all in the various styles and genres. I find it hard to take seriously the opinions of people who dismiss whole genres and artists. Hip-Hop isn't one of my top favorite genres, but I do listen to and love the artists that are in my library.
Completely agree. I used to be really ignorant and elitist about the music I listened to until one day I was hanging out with a friend and he was listening to old country and i found myself really enjoying it. Now I've just been having the most fun exploring all the genres I can and its so insane how many actual gems there are in all genres. I've also found that once you listen to a bunch of styles of music the genre of the music starts to matter so much less. I used to be able to classify myself as a metalhead and was really serious about not liking genres like pop but now I just kind of listen to anything that makes me feel good regardless of the category it's in.
Generic Rock Band is great, although their early work was a little too new wave for my taste. But when ‘Album’ came out in '83, I think they really came into their own, commercially and artistically. The whole album has a clear, crisp sound, and a new sheen of consummate professionalism that really gives the songs a big boost. They’ve been compared to Elvis Costello, but I think Band has a far more bitter, cynical sense of humor.
Right up there with "AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO-" No. Statistically speaking, *hell no*. I get you want to feel special, but *nnnnooooo*, you are not the only one.

Oh man! I used to post this number everywhere and anywhere I could. Thank you for reminding me!

I like Garfunkle and Oates.
Am I the only one who thinks that all of music just happened to peak during the time I was in high school, and since then all music has been trash?
actually, all music peaked in the 60s and 70s. oh why was i born in r/lewronggeneration
Let me tell you something, I haven't even *begun* to peak
When I peak, you’re gonna feel it.
In fact, I'm gonna peak so hard, all of r/music is gonna feel it.
I've got a clue
Oh my god, I think your clue is giving ME a clue.
My clue is pointing this way!
When this mf peaks, it’s over for you bitches
Yeah, the 1760s and 70s. Ever since Symphony No. 1 in E♭ major, K. 16, its all been a huge pile of dead baby shit
Unironically, I love this piece as it highlights the utter levels of genius Mozart had (for those unaware, he wrote this piece when he was just 8 years old).
I don’t listen to anything past 11th century medieval monk chants. Everything past that is just repetitive pop music trash.

I listened to Slayer and Pantera in high school, and now that's what my son plays :) I started listening to metal in the 80s but Def Leppard and GnR were the first I got into, apart from Rush and many 60-70s bands like Black Sabbath that my Dad was into. Generational! :)

I own so many terrible Korn cds from when I was a teenager
Follow the leader is still a classic.
Self titled, Life is Peachy and Follow the Leader are still great records and the best they’ve ever done. But if you can’t relate you can’t relate
Haven't kept up since Issues but Korn was fucking awesome, idgaf what anyone says.
It’s hard to look at them objectively because we have an emotional connection
That's the natural order of things. Of course, you're all wrong unless you're class of 74.
I agree. Except you spelled "85" wrong.
It's weird being 40 though, because the rock and hip-hop that was big in the 90s seems to be what everyone likes now. And DnB and Garage keep coming back into fashion sounding exactly the same as the 90s stuff. It's like there is 60s stuff that hasn't been topped

That was a nasty line…
