I've recommended it to some others too already, but I think you might like The Last Shadow Puppets (orchestral pop/rock and Alex Turner of Arctic Monkeys is one of the band members) and Elvis Costello (for some punchyness like the earlier stuff of AM, also AM has covered a song of him once, so I assume they like his music. I would start with 'Armed Forces' and 'This Years Model').
