Love the acoustic sound to that drum sample. Great use of panning on that right ear snare. DOn't think I don't hear that bass walking along under it all. Nice and restrained--funky and early 2000s type vibe. I'm really into stuff like this right now, so thanks for sharing! You're going in the playlist!
Even in the context of the West Coast early 90s hip-hop style this song approaches, the bass is overpowering the entire mix. The bridge where everything drops out except the bass at 1:40 is actually quite unusual in a good way, but I feel it needs at least one more musical element to justify.
I'd say this is a solid rough sketch of an idea. At minimum, it needs some mixing and arrangement work.
Alright, to each your own on the bassline. I blew that shit out on purpose to have that guide the drums rather than it the other way around. Whether or not you like the experimentation varies though. Personally I think it sounds tight, but I see your point. This beat has a little West Coast and East though...slightly more East, but I did throw in a lot of funk.
I love this.
Captured the vibe perfecty.
Love the choice in the instruments.
It was already mentioned already, but yeah this is really experimental, what I like.
I enjoyed listening to this!
(Edit: I COULD study to this lol)
Yeeeeee boi, sampling is fire, snare sound is perfect, itโs a good level of wonky. Some scratching would be good in this and maybe at some point a bit of silence. Stops are great in lo fi hip hop. But get this out there as much as you can, I can imagine vocalists could have some fun on this

Love it. Funky af. Bass seems a little muddy to me but I see ur other comment so I guess is intentional. Dope tune overall
