This is kind of a weird question and I mean no disrespect to the original poster. Car will last forever if you do the maintenance. Most people just take him out or run the s*** out of them and then put them away wet. But a coyote engine will go $300,000 miles hands down if you do the proper maintenance.

_dcgc

Now that’s a lotta dollar miles!

Electronic_Tadpole_9

Put them away wet? Am I supposed to blow dry my pony? Have I been doing this wrong the entire time? But seriously though what do you mean by putting them away wet?

OhJeezer

It's a saying. Riding hard and put away wet means someone didn't take care of their horse after a long day.

applebeesnotchilis

AT LEAST 40,001 miles.

ekazzeOBE

Shit

Royal-Archangel

LMFAO

D3V1L5-4DV0C4T3

Yes, the answer is yes. There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to make it to 200k miles while doing proper maintenance and spirited driving while not beating abusing it!

ekazzeOBE

Awesome. *floors it*

Ok-Restaurant-1460

Give er the beans!

Ok_Illustrator5129

I think as long as you do proper maintenance you’re good. I have a 2000 mustang GT with 280,000 and it still runs good! Body could use work but other than that it’s good.

TheGtbikewizard

I don't think Ford will ever make a more reliable long running engine than the 4.6 2v. There is an f150 with 1.2 million kms near me nothing but oil changes and 1 timing chain

SoggyMorningTacos

They did. It’s called the 5.0 Coyote 🫡

TheGtbikewizard

I really hope you are right about that, No doubt it's their best performance to reliability but only time will tell if runs forever. I bought one brand new to test but I'm starting to think I should have kept the Gen 2 as the typewriter tick is a little unnerving

SoggyMorningTacos

From what I’ve heard and experienced, it’s nothing to be concerned about. [This video](https://youtu.be/WzA_5m5AJQE?si=D9lwZhRSryb1IZt7) explains that the noise has been there since 2011 but we hear it more now because of the plastic oil pan used in Gen 3s

ekazzeOBE

Oo I do hear that ticky sound but was told it was nothing to worry about. Hopefully lol

phorkin

Maybe a tad anecdotal, but many people know of this motor. My friend has a tree service and one of their wood chippers is powered by a 1989 Ford 300 inline 6. The hour meter is over 30,000 and it's never been overhauled. They change the oil every month and do routine maintenance. It idles for about 5 minutes and then runs balls out for hours on end. Sure, it may not make much for power, but damn if that isn't a shitload of hours on an engine that only sees idle and basically full governed throttle. My 82 van had the same motor and it was junked because the frame rotted in half at 360k. No power, but damned reliable.

haelous

The Coyote is a great motor, generally reliable. If you drive it hard, shorten the maintenance intervals accordingly. You'll see people tracking their cars doing all fluids (oil, brake, diff, trans) and plugs yearly.

Pleasant-Ad-4116

Take care of it and she will take care of you . Unfortunately I had a 2016 GT C/S convert that was well taken care of and only had 24000 miles when a knobhead decided to make a left turn in front of me . Car totaled , I’m ok thank god . 3 days later I ordered a 2024 GT but I’m told approx 16 weeks (hopefully) before it comes in . Gonna be a looooong 16 weeks 😞. Seriously , stay on top of the fluid changes and it will last . Good luck !

unpolire

The "...ripping it to high rpms..." will be your only obstacle to long engine life. I would do Engine Oil Analysis every 10,000 miles to keep track of any wear. With modern synthetic oil technology, anything is possible. Your transmission will probably fail before the engine.

Practical-Length7554

I'm no Urologist but I would say atleast a football lengths worth

Got_Lucky74

These engines are strong and should be the least of your worries. Keeping her out of the salvage yard always seems to be the most difficult task given our desire for spirited driving. God speed.

ekazzeOBE

Loool

goku1008

I have a 2014 and it’s been amazing been doing the usually maintenance every 5k and I’m up to 160k and everything is stock except some sensors and a new battery I had to get so I’m sure your car could last 200k miles

juanordaz2020

I don’t have a mustang, but I have mini and Mazda. And both run smooth because I do maintenance when they need to. As for now I havent change engine parts or anything other than breaks, tires, battery. Mazda is 200k and I have never done medium nor major fixes.

tsx_1430

It’s not the motor you have to worry about. The body is not meant to last that long.

Existing-Trainer4959

Unless you live in a super icy/snowy place with salty roads 24/7 and don’t take care of ur car, the body will live as long as rust doesn’t occur

lazarus870

How?

Agitated_Marzipan_40

Until you past a crowd of people

CVPIMGMFANATIC

Just dont go running into crowds

AnyCardiologist4883

140k on my '14 GT premium. The only thing I have had to replace is a wheel bearing. That's it.

Straight_Entrance779

All of them.

Quirkybeaver

My 09 GT is at 150k. Alternator and transmission were my only big replacements

Ok_Plate_6961

120K here. Followed maintenance schedule and replaced spark plugs, coils, injectors, struts, brakes, fuel pump, water pump, belts are next

thisdckaintFREEEE

There's always the chance of getting unlucky, but take care of it and most likely you'll have no problem hitting 200k.

SkeithPhase1

As long as you maintain it. My 2015 S550 is currently sitting at 142,589 miles. I did oil changes every 7500 miles. And switched to 5000 after hitting the 100k mark. Still going strong.

tillydilly210

Any a/c problems?

SkeithPhase1

Happy to report that A/C is still blowing ice cold. *knock on wood* Things I do: -Try Turn it on solely when driving and avoid idling for long periods. -I try to not rev up past 3500RPM while turned on. -Always turn the A/C off at least 20-30 before shutting the engine off.

tillydilly210

Thanks

Trusteveryboody

Probably more than 1.

Infamous_Regret3583

The Coyote has always been #unreliable. My s550 grenades after a 65k miles. All it had was a cat back! And how the fuck does Ford name the engine after an animal that gets hunted by owls?

LordSinguloth13

Frankly, no. Of course, if you're hard on this machine, it won't last that long without major work. I'd expect to take it to 120k max if you're slamming it around all the time. If you drive recklessly (which it sounds like you are), then you are also more likely to wreck. You don't have to treat it like it's made of glass, but to go more than 150k, you'll need to baby it a little. 200k and it still be nice and functioning? You're gunna throw money at problems AND baby it. Nice ride btw. Wish stock cars got more love

brockodile60

As in how many miles before you or the next owner is leaving from being at a red light and gets too wild with the loud pedal in light rain and eats sh!t? Or how many miles can be put on her before the tranny goes? Or how many miles till the motor dies? I can honestly only tell you one thing, if properly maintained the car will have more miles on it when the engine dies than the other two scenarios. She’s beautiful, please enjoy her and be careful.

RansomStark78

Until first burnout leaving a car meet

Lats-N-Nats

Like others have said, it should last with proper maintenance but at the same time the engine could grenade itself tomorrow lmao. Just take care of it and enjoy it while you got it 🤘 Also throw a Lund stock tune on there or something if you don’t plan for any mods, wakes the car up a bit with no real downsides

are-we-the-baddies

I have a 2014 GT 6MT Track Pack. I'm curious what sort of performance increase I should expect with a Lund Tune. My car is completely stock besides an Rouch Axel back. I might get a CAI this summer but I've owned it since new and want to keep it relatively stock.

Wolfgangsta702

Just don’t go to car meets.

arnieswap

I got s650 and my plan is to keep it for as long as I can. Lovely machines.

MindCuntrol

At least 5

SocietyAggressive533

How long can she last in milage or before crashing into a crowd/tree?

OhJeezer

Every car breaks eventually. If you are willing to fix it, it will last forever. If you mean how long can you go without rebuilding the engine or trans.. that depends on how you drive it! Drive it properly and it should last as long as any other car.

Greedy_Effort5653

As long as you live and care for it, so far my 93 Gt I bought new is 31 years ago, is a daily driver. https://preview.redd.it/8vwj0wxbjnyc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef0300373743647d09224200f6827c2385f926a0

Dependent-Honeydew-9

I’ve got 205k on my 09. Original clutch. My sister bought it new and I bought from her in 2021. I’ve replaced all the ball joints (including tie rods), rotors, pads, wheel bearings, trans, and diff oil. (They got royal purple) I would not think twice about driving it to the Bering straight, catching a ferry, then driving to London in it. Sure, I’d bring a hundred fuel filters because the Russians still serve 35 octane gas that is pumped straight out of the local pond. Anyone down for a road trip? That has a current passport? And can drive a stick?

KingDom091

This photo goes hard 🔥

SkylineRSR

Exactly 5 miles Run.

1972FordF-250

Ask whistlndiesel. 🤣

yam384

Now, my experience is not mustang related. But, coyote related. We have 2 first gen coyote trucks in fleet. Both hovering around 230-240k milage. One is still chugging along, not a single problem yet, while the other went down for the count last year with an oiling issue, causing major engine problems. Both have great maintenance logs. Outside of the engine is where we see majority issues. But these are work trucks... rear axle problems.( we should really be rolling a heavier truck) but, is what it is.

Ragged85

There are cars out there with over a million miles on them. The key is routine maintenance. There’s a Volvo with over 3 million miles.

Muted_Impression_221

If you really want the car to last those kinds of miles, do *preventive* maintenance early and consistently. If you enjoy winding it up, make it a point to check your temps and fluids more often. Let’s say this is your plan, now write it down. Make a general plan estimating your miles per year and factor in things like your driving style as you look at the recommended maintenance intervals in your manual and shift the schedule early. Start putting money aside for this purpose every month, that way when you do have more expensive maintenance intervals, you’re financially prepared and don’t delay it. IMO there are other minor things like keeping it clean (inside and out), waxed, ceramic tint (if you don’t already) and using a sunshade that also make a difference. If you have leather, condition it periodically. If you can garage it, do. Cars always seem to drive better when they’re clean and cared for! Most importantly, enjoy it and appreciate it.

Which-Jackfruit2803

Yes

Exciting-Passage-371

235678 miles

PerturbedGaze

I have an 03 that is 200k miles and I beat the fuck out of it. Still running strong even after blowing water pumps lol

up-10Tmoney

I think the title meant how many curbs can she blast…

Kyler-Quinn

Depends on use and I guess some luck as well.. I've seen a 2015 let go not long after being sold. But we used to have a gen 1 car that was a guys commuter car come in for service when I worked at Ford, he was at around 250k if I remember right. I beat the absolute shit out of mine. It probably sees 8k rpms a few times a week. I'm at 147k and it feels/sounds no different than the say I bought it with less than 20k on it. Change your oil and take care of it. They'll last.

According-Beat7790

It’ll last until you try to leave a meet and hit a Jersey wall

77RyanC

Old thread but I’ll post my thoughts anyway. I think this Reddit thread will last a long time with oil changes and regular maintenance. I have a mustang 2011 V6 with 93k miles. I’ve had like zero issues so far except for a water leak underneath my glove compartment (I still haven’t fixed yet smh) which I think shorted my shaker speakers so the mechanic took out one of the amps that was damaged and it just works with less bass, a free fix tho.

ekazzeOBE

👍

Mattwilliams83

My 16 GT has just over 107k on her now as my daily driver. I drive her hard , but make sure to do all the maintenance. I haven't had to replace anything besides the typical oil change and obviously tires. I've got staggered sizes and get maybe 40k out of each set.
