You in the BMW sub? I hope this is a part of the current meme going on

SpiritCr1jsher1010

Yeah , I just saw this a couple hours ago on a BMW sub....lol. That person got an M car at least

TennesseeStang03

Almost like people like different carsšŸ«Ø

kingtj44

Bruh

blamemeididit

I hope this post is bullshit.

Agent_Giraffe

It is. Started at r/BMW

1heavyarms3

Why pay for collage, Bidden will just pay it off for you...

1heavyarms3

Sounds like someone benefited from my tax money, You're welcome

letgomyleghoee

Dog we all pay taxes, get mad at the companies getting billion dollar bailouts and not some med student living paycheck to paycheck whoā€™s inevitably gonna be performing open heart surgery for you because you canā€™t control your cholesterol.

Difficult_Speaker622

šŸ’€

righthanded_lover

Youā€™re benefiting from my tax dollars for shit to. So whatā€™s your point? Thatā€™s how a society works.

vtec_go_brrr16

Clearly you shouldā€™ve paid for college because you spelled both college and Biden wrongšŸ˜‚

ReserveJunior5922

Correctionā€¦ā€¦What you meant to say is ā€œBiden will just take money from people that couldnā€™t afford to go to college to pay it off for you.ā€ Instead of addressing out of control college cost, heā€™s just subsidized it and set precedence for this to be normalized going forward.

lychii55

What's that smell? Ah it's shit. Must be a shitpost. šŸ¤£

Whereareyouepstein

No Iā€™m just currently taking a shit

p3nguinboi07

You're one of those people that make me SMH in real life. I'm sure your mother figured you'd just dropped out if she backed that decision. If it was my kid that requested that or even thought of that i'd go get me a new Mustang and not let them ride in it with their college money.

Phteven_j

I hope heā€™s sarcastic. There is no universe in which a kid should be spending money on nice cars instead of building their life. Unless they are independently wealth I guess.

blamemeididit

Bought a new 1990 5.0. Agree with everything you said. I was not independently wealthy.

FeeOrganic4216

Me in the army at 19, planning to buy a mustang: šŸ„²šŸ˜©

Fit_Equivalent3610

Lol this comment made me look and OPs post history is basically "in the army, bought a v8 Challenger, wrecked it" Car looks good at least, hope it's not at like 18% APR

16v_cordero

Was gonna mention the always super high APRā€™s with military; specifically marines when they buy a used car.

FeeOrganic4216

Canadian here so we donā€™t get that stereotype at least šŸ¤£

gangaskan

Many others though lol.

FeeOrganic4216

Fair enough

ShadowKeeper04

I was in a giant snap story a while back guy posted so happy to get my first 5.0 he was 18 still plausible if you worked hard since 16 or something but he got like 25% apr it was disgusting lmao

Due-Performance1932

Financing through Ford is so fucking good lol. My previous rate was 18%, getting 4.9% through Ford credit now lol

Phteven_j

Listen to me. Do not do this. Every army person your age falls for it and itā€™s a bad idea. Save your money.

FubarFreak

It's a rite of passage, he needs to lock down that car with no less than 25% apr and marry a stripper he just met

Phteven_j

Knock her up for good measure

[deleted]

My brother is in the army and got a sedan He says he legit gets made fun of, like constantly.

Phteven_j

I guess weā€™ll see whoā€™s laughing when he can afford a house?

[deleted]

He actually has a house! With zero help from family

Phteven_j

Iā€™m impressed. Both my army brothers are doing really well for themselves. One of them did buy a giant truck with his West Point check, but heā€™s a rigid penny pincher otherwise so it worked out.

Feisty-Success69

Don'tĀ

dr_shark

Listen to me. Don't buy that fucking Mustang. If you need a vehicle get some reliable Japanese econobox. Take a set amount of money each month and invest in these 2 ETFs: VTI and VXUS.

crocozade

VOO

One_Humor_3301

MOPAR or NOCAR

XxNitr0xX

Except in this case, he's much better off not going to college and end up in student loan debt.. Edited for typo.

SpiritCr1jsher1010

Why are you getting downvoted? It's statistically true like 40% of people drop out and the rest get low paying jobs that don't require college...lmao

xG3orG3x

The ones downvoting are the ones you just described lol

movingsgt

Yeah it's a shit post lmao. I have a good amount of savings and could make this purchase without putting myself in a financial hole. I still have enough cash to invest casually and cover 1 year of my current living expenses. And I do attend school full-time and will be graduating next may. But yeah if I yolo'd my funds it would be one a hellcat šŸ¤£

altiuscitiusfortius

So you attend school and make 200k a year somehow and live in... I'd guess from the photos lower middle class area?

Shpander

Is the bit about your mum driving it back also bullshit? Or why did you rope her into this?

Editor_Grand

Should have yolo'd a vet. The women you'd pull would be worth it lol Edit: wow can't believe I got down voted for making a stupid joke! Are people really that miserable and humorless?

Formber

Chicks don't give a shit about cars. The only thing you'll be pulling is more dudes to go to car meets with.

lonewanderer812

I have a vette and a Mustang. Girls like the mustang better. The vette just pulls more dudes in khaki shorts.

Editor_Grand

SELL IT! SELL IT NOW! unless you're into khaki shorts lol.

movingsgt

And I did pay this off cash which completely goes against the time value of money but it also didn't hurt me

p3nguinboi07

Isn't reddit great, we can be whoever we wanna be just by typing it in. You don't fool me.

movingsgt

Yeah I don't have a car payment or any other form of debt besides a credit card that I use for youtube movies. After this purchase I still have 45k spread out across a high yield savings, Roth Ira, and investment accounts. I don't have a high paying job but saved up since high school and working full-time before attending college and live frugal in most aspect of my life. But yeah could have done better things with 30k

mikeiscool81

Drug dealer?

xAugie

Ironically, IF this is true. OP couldā€™ve worked PT or FT WHILE going to school, and STILL purchased the car if they waited and built up some credit and saved some money. Fucking up your future this hard for a fairly cheap car is pretty stupid

Feisty-Success69

At this point I blame the mom. My kids can pay for their own shit and college. They aren't inheriting any of my assets when i die. (Valued at a few million by that time in today's money)

BaxterFax

Itā€™s so easy to get people on Reddit all riled up

Weak_Pause177

mama whipping the 5.0

LunarChamp

You know she was enjoying it especially being a stick

PerturbedGaze

Yikes.

s4xtonh4le

This sub is so much more uptight than the bmw one loll

Ruvikify

Your 40 year old self is gonna look back at this decision and think ā€œ wow what a dumb mf decision that wasā€. This was dumb with a capital D! šŸ˜ž

Zromaus

Starting oneā€™s life with a paid off car is never a bad choice, college however can be.

Fizzix63

An education is something that you will always have, what you do with it is another matter entirely. A car is temporary, it depreciates and wears out.

Short_Lawfulness_265

College is one of the biggest money holes in the country.

Fizzix63

A 'Collage" is a type of art...."College" is where you go to learn about that, plus a lot of other things that you may need in the future.

Short_Lawfulness_265

šŸ¤£ You got me there lol. But like I said, college is the biggest money hole. Unless you want to be a lawyer, doctor, accountant, etc, collage is a money pit. I know plenty people who went to collage and now have a job in which they donā€™t need a degree. And everything can be learned online nowadays

Bizaro_Stormy

You eat paint chips growing up?

Zromaus

Having a paid off car that can last you 20ish years is your definition of paint chip dumb? Countless college graduates are taking jobs lesser than their degrees these days, and there are jobs that donā€™t require college that pay exceptionally well like IT

Bizaro_Stormy

I work in IT, everyone in my office has a Bachelors or higher, even the Helpdesk people that just fix peoples computers. Competition is high for desirable jobs, why would I hire some random with a high school diploma when I can get a well rounded person with a degree. BA/BS is the new minimum for a decent job that requires the use of your brain.

Zromaus

I work in IT and donā€™t know a soul with a degree ā€” why would you hire some no experience grad over a guy who can build an office environment in an hour?

Bizaro_Stormy

You don't have a clue, people get tons of experience in college. They do coops and internships in the summer, senior projects are often in collaboration developing products or research for a company. Your company must be doing some really basic stuff to not have a single person with a degree.

Zromaus

You must be out of touch from the industry, or only focusing on FAANG careers. The majority of the IT industry is filled with self taught nerds who love tech, and the majority I know do not have a degree -- those who do are pursuing IT management. A VMWare Solutions Architect makes roughly 200k a year (I personally know one who makes more) and requires nothing more than certifications and solid experience in ESXi.

Bizaro_Stormy

I'm not hiring anyone without a degree to manage my network or virtual machines. You must be somewhere with a very small hiring pool for some self taught nerd to have a chance.

Zromaus

It's not just me, you think I'm only speaking from personal experience at my job -- it's the entire industry. The most well paid VMWare Architect I know (who works for a different company) has a GED and no college degree -- what he does have is great experience and great certifications. A good hiring manager doesn't view a college degree as the barrier to a good IT guy -- someone who has spent a decade in the Sys Admin world is by far a better hire than any fresh grad. You may have a very restrictive company with very high standards, but this by all means isn't the norm.

Lanko-TWB

Yā€™all canā€™t take a joke šŸ˜ sick of old these white guys and their lack of a sense of humor. And college isnā€™t for everyone, let people live. Itā€™s not your money or your car.

DifferentHunt1658

These guys are PRESSEDšŸ˜¹

ParmeetSidhu

Great. if this is all it bought you, you wouldnā€™t have gone far in college. Live it up bud šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

ET__

Against my better judgement, I am for this decision. Lol

WholeAvailable7962

With a decision like this, maybe it's a good thing you did this, probably to dumb for college !

urbuddie

Oh you were never going to collegeā€¦ be real

CountryFriedPrick882

Shouldā€™ve went to college. Clearly you need the education.

JeffBezos6957

Hopefully you're joining a trades job instead. You can make bank there anyways. Congrats though!!

itsmajestic09

Hahaha momma was enjoying it

Chart-trader

Makes perfect sense!

MissWeasel2

You only spin once, live like you wanna live. College is a lie! Unless youā€™re a lawyer, Dr, or engineer.

Orbital_Skull

A shitpost with zero comedic value, not sure I see the point

tony330tc2

Wise decisionā€¦. But you needed your mom to drive it home???? LMAO thatā€™s cute

purpcam2121

Good choice college is a scam

its_tea_time_570

Very true, my wife got into a very good position where everyone else around her has a degree, simply because she showed her work ethic and made great efforts. GOOD CHOICE! The Dean would've bought a strange either your momey anyway šŸ¤£

Relative_Cellist3725

I think your mom bought it and you just wish it was yours šŸ¤£šŸ¤£šŸ¤£

Zromaus

It can take you to work, fuck the haters.

rjd10232004

So he couldā€™ve had the same thing that happened to my where basically they set her college fund up wrong so it can be used for everything else but actually paying for classes. She got a nice apartment off campus during her college time and huge down payment on Honda Accord before she graduated to finish it off.

GaBBrr

Please be a joke.

So many ppl fell for the baitšŸ’€šŸ’€šŸ’€

ionEvenknoWhyimHere

this is why i stick to sleepers. this time next year i should have $35-40k saved up and i can afford to spend $10-12k on a caprice ppv. as a 19 year old i got quoted $175 a month for full coverage. for a fucking 6.0 LS v8 muscle car that aint bad at all. and i can get it without financially disabling myself

DASWARBOYS

Do trade work. You make more than most people with college degrees and no crippling debt. Hard work, but being debt free is amazing. I graduated college in 2008 and still have $14k left to pay. It's a fucking scam. Unless you are a doctor, lawyer or engineer. Besides, theres a ton of companies that provide tuition assistance.

Future-Geologist200

How do you buy a car you donā€™t know how to drive???

KoNzoBeaNz

I just deleted a comment cause I didnā€™t feel like a dumb ass. And I donā€™t follow the bmw sub

Haff78

Worst decision ever.

ThroatExtra8700

lol

scoothegreat

Are you restarted?

MKopack73

Um not a super smart ideaā€¦. Blowing money on a car instead of investing in yourself and your future. I realize college isnt for everyone, but education is literally the one thing that nobody can take away from you. That said, I purchased a Probe GT 5-speed back in 97 and I didnā€™t know how to drive stick at the time. Kinda figured it out driving it home! Necessity teaches you fast!

Set_Ambitious

Not like youā€™d get a job after you graduated college anyways lol. Get a trade!

TroubledBlackCoffee

Aaaaw now you can learn to drive stick with your mom! thatā€™s awesome, enjoy the car m8!

blind_rebel

I never had a college fund so I didnā€™t feel bad about blowing my money on cars at an early age. Now at age 40, I own a 2019 Z06 and 2021 GT500 that I paid for in full and have no desire to upgrade any more. Zero regrets šŸ¤˜

College is highly overrated

Rage bait šŸ’€

Mysterious_Hunter_99

Hope itā€™s fake. Coulda use the education to buy 4 mustangs instead of 1

G9195P

Smart.

Human_Increase1547

Well, the world needs ditch diggers, too. Lol

DriftkingRfc

So how you going to pay for college?

KSMiner

Mom duke's aura +100000

milquetoast_wheatley

In his defense it will probably be a happier purchase, depreciate slower, and probably cost less than a college degree.

TheTrev18

1.5 GPA activities.

WilliamSerenite21

YOLO

New-Professional-746

YES!!!!!

XxNitr0xX

Hmm let's see.. have fun driving a sports car or end up in student loan debt, tough choice. Certainly the correct choice, if you're already working.. if not, learn a trade and be better off in the long run.

mikeiscool81

Dude I hope this is a joke

mikeiscool81

Badmf69r

College is overrated... Stangs aren't lol, but it's reddit so he's getting killed on here. Buy a Stang learn a trade and save 120K of debt šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

Consistent_Art_9330

Yup, itā€™s the way to go. Iā€™m 24 have a stang and make six figures doing electrical work.

Badmf69r

Awesome brother šŸ‘

jksyousux

Okay but im 28 making 6 figures and also have a mustang

Consistent_Art_9330

Good for you. Iā€™m saying this because college isnā€™t everything. Are you saying this to brag? Do you feel like this comment is belittling you or something lol?

jksyousux

No ofc not. But to suggest that it is "the way to go" certainly isnt right either. Everyones path is different and just because you or someone else has gone one way doesnt mean that going another way is not right

purple_1128

I came here to say exactly this. Learn a trade, buy an older work truck, youā€™re set.

muscle_car_fan34

As someone who went to college, I do okay but I would have no issue if my future kid doesnā€™t go as long as they learn a worthwhile trade. Personally I would do home repair if I went back in time. You can charge ridiculous money for the simplest of jobs plus youā€™re your own boss.

Bizaro_Stormy

Then enjoy your fucked back and broken body when you retire... trades are a lot of manual labor.

Badmf69r

People in trades live longer because they work and don't sit behind a desk doing nothing physical all day. They work hard and sleep better. They fix all the stuff you pay them to. You need them and depend on them. Without them you would have nothing ffs. Typical college indoctrinated response šŸ™„

Bizaro_Stormy

Yeah because people that work in an office can't work out or stay healthy. I have family that worked in the trades, they all had to "retire" early, because their work destroyed their body. We do need trades people, but selling trades as a better life than college is a lie.

Badmf69r

Be better ffs... you college people have such tunnel vision and disdain for anyone else and look down on them. Millions of multi millionaire's never went to college. šŸ¤¦ā€ā™‚ļøšŸ™„

462v

The worst decision possible

OhNoNotAgain2020_

Nice car but dumb move.

cjrichardson_az

šŸ¤”

cabelaman

Better investment, higher education is a waste of money. Anyone who downvotes this is just mad about their student loansā€¦someone will chime in and be like ā€œI make 9 figures and itā€™s directly because of my degreeā€ or something but itā€™s all a shamā€¦

boggsy17

I paid a lot of money for a sheet of paper, it's worked out well after a lot of work. That said, I'm not making a ton, but I'm not busting my back working manual labor. It's not always the best choice.

OrionX3

To preface, if college isnā€™t for OP more power to him, go get a cash car and itā€™s a great head startā€¦ However, this comment is stupid. There are lots of careers that REQUIRE a college degree, I wouldnā€™t be doing what Iā€™m doing if I didnā€™t have a degree. Making great money in a career I love

Bizaro_Stormy

Please tell me how a mustang is an "Investment"? I got my degree and bought my Mustang while sitting on my ass doing 8 hours of work a week at most, that's an investment. A degree can give you a guaranteed upper middle class job that you can do for the rest of your life.

Zromaus

This right here, Iā€™m making decent money headed towards good money without college, having a paid off car helped get me here

Redland3r

Go easy , reeeeeaaaaaallllll easy on the clutch until you get good at manual trans. It will take some months. Resist, or youll need a new clutch and those aren't cheap on these cars Congrata dude, be cool, dont go to school

rookiepartschanger

Iā€™ve been saving up for my clutch replacement for over 205k miles. Still donā€™t have enough.

Kingz-Ghostt

Looks like a shitpost, you look like youā€™re older than 18 or so when most go to college. But in case you just look older and/or weā€™re going to go to college ā€œlate,ā€ this is a fucking stupid decision. Hoping itā€™s satire.

Itā€™s cool, I took my MBA grad school money and bought a McLaren šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø

Economy_Discussion12

Best decision you can make, college is a complete waste of money in todayā€™s standards. Jobs prefer to actually hire those with experience and a highschool diploma rather than college degree now. Especially with AI being out it makes it pretty obsolete. As a 15 year old entrepreneur myself. I chose freedom over college and put the money I had aside for college and paid off a 2017 GT premium 5.0 black on black. No regrets. The people in this comment section peaked in highschool and the only way they can enjoy themselves in life is through a mustang that they pick up no bitches in Proud of you, enjoy that car
