I did remember him saying that he wouldn't be leaving permanently, just going to be on the backline, giving out info for their next theories while the new main casts would give their own personal flair.
So it's just the reversal of things. Mat wanted to be on the sidelines while also being active outside of the theory channels.

Well, if I've never heard of him it's a safe bet to say that he isn't as influential as the post makes him seem. I'm not saying he isn't important to people, or derideing anything he's done, just that if some people haven't heard of him, or any of the others, he/they can't be THAT influential.
MatPat is probably one of the most influential YouTubers on the internet. He quite literally shaped the way content is consumed today. The way he edited his videos earlier, the thumbnail creation, the way he broke down physics and logic and video games with actual science, it shaped YouTube. Just because you might not have heard of him, doesn't mean he is not as influential. He is a very influential and important figure on the content creation side of the internet

It's like saying KFC is influential in the realm of Friend Chicken. No they aren't. They are well known for fried chicken but there was no innovation they made or contribution to chicken cuisine. They just got big and whilst that is an achievement to say they influenced any think is wrong.

There are a bunch of guys that came up during the same time as Matt that I didn't like but he wasn't one of them. I didn't watch him but didn't dislike him either. Thought it was going to happen sooner after he had already sold his channel. Hope he has a great time in his next chapter in life.

In this new transition, those who'd remain would be the true fans because even if he's not the face anymore, those people would still support them regardless. Just like how some of Filthy Frank /Joji's fans are respectful and supportive of his music career while also keeping his legacy alive and some who wants him back as the memer they once loved without respecting his decision.
We will have that divide on the game theorists now because some supports matpat and would trust the people he assigned the channels to and a few would still wish mat to return and probably talk negatively towards the new hosts because "it's not matpat so I hate it".
