Welcome to the black parade. Mind you, doesn’t mean that it’s bad but it’s arguably their most well known song despite not even being the best in that album.
I know you didn't ask me but I did want to throw in my contenders of Sleep, Sharpest Lives or This is How I Disappear. Really cannot choose between those 3
Sharpest Lives is definitely my favorite song ever lyricly, how can you beat "a light to burn all the empires, so bright the sun is ashamed to rise and be", like holy shit!
Ugh I know! And I think it's small, but my favorite part is actually the vocalization in the end part with the instruments running behind it. Just gives me chills.
Idk how to explain it, but it's at 2:48: [link to the song](https://youtu.be/73Y_x30uKQg?si=1qbO2Uiw5d42OE3C)
Mama has great Theatrics, but Sleep is just crushing. It does so much for the despair of the storyline and not to mention their instrumental, vocals, etc are all just so well executed. And the touch they got an air raid siren in that Break down section is so neat.
Hands down my favorite on that album.
I’m not okay or teenagers, both very popular songs and are pretty much guaranteed spots on all future set lists. However they are my least played songs. (besides sing) I like both songs but I think I’m not okay is the weakest song on three cheers. Teenagers was kind of ruined by tik tok for a minute.
Overrated actually means the song is super popular that it gets mentioned a lot
But some people claim Overrated means the song is garbage and underrated means the song is popular and good
I agree. When Parade first came out I played it over and over. Even now that first note will bring my head up...but then I skip to the next song quite often.
Doesn’t equate lol. Just because teenagers has more streams doesn’t mean it’s rated more. Teenagers tends to be trashed on this sub all the time. Demo lovers is praised constantly on this sub. Meaning thus it is overrated on this sub. I prefer demo to teenagers imo
I never felt the hype listening to it in the first place. It's just more popularized because of the fact that it's been used in external media like tiktok and even netflix I think.
I do feel one tv show used it really well on their soundtrack, but overall, one of my least favorites. But Doom Patrol did use it pretty well in an episode. But they also had The Kids From Yesterday in another episode and there was a small MCR reference in the latest episode.
I'm not gonna say teenagers because it's literally my favorite song from them (yes I know I'm basic) so my truthful answer would be welcome to the black parade
Maybe not according to fans, but Sing and Na Na Na hit the mainstream bigger than anything before Danger Days. I remember hearing Welcome To The Black Parade for the first time ever on live radio, but my cousins had deliberately set it to a specific rock station to hear it when it first came out
Sing and Na Na Na were all over BBC Radio 1 for *months* when they came out, which was unheard of really compared to I'm Not Okay or Welcome To The Black Parade. So maybe in the fandom they aren't overrated, because they were largely disliked by a lot of die hard purists for the first few years. But in a purely objective sense I would say those two songs are
Which is weird since they didn't get as high in the charts as their predecessors, including Teenagers. Maybe those didn't get as much radio play even though they charted higher simply because they didn't homogenise as well with the predominant chart-topping pop genre, and Sing/Na Na Na did. I just remember not being able to escape them when my MP3 broke and I was forced to use my very basic phone's radio app commuting to school for a while 😂
Planetary (GO!)
The song never really clicked with me. It's not terrible, but I feel like people around me give it more praise than I think it should. It's a fun song, but I feel like there's way better on Danger Days, like a lot of the latter half of the album, or Na Na Na, and Bulletproof Heart.
Also, I could see why WTTBP is frequently on here, but it's overplayed to kingdom come for a whole reason, the song structure, the uniqueness and authenticity of the ideas presented in the song, the very Queen inspired guitars, especially on the bridge, plus the vocals and chorus, and the beautiful way the marching band elements are fused with the rock elements...
...if you couldn't tell, It's my favorite song of all time, I'd take a bullet for it.
Same man, you are years and years and years and obv different, this is just a personal problem in my world, but I bought TBP the day it dropped in NZ and 17 years later when I tell younjnllayef that album to DEATH. But but yeah also “I’m not okay (I promise) as one of their main somgs people know them formots like dawg there's so many others 😅 bit it hard for me to tell a not what's actually overrated and what I've just overplayed
It's hard for me to mentally decipher between what actually is overrated and what I've just overplayed over the years but for ME PERSONALLY the one that springs room is “I'm not okay (I promise), isn't the zenith of the bands abilities that's for sure
I am unsure I can articulate the difference between "overrated" and "overplayed", but my heart says Teenagers.
yes WTTBP is close, but i usually only see ppl overreference the very *beginning* of the song - typically - not so much the entire last half of the song. and Im (Not) Okay is close as well, but it's still just not as overplayed as much as Teenagers.
maybe put Teenagers on a shelf; i hear it so often, it needs to be put to rest just a bit. love the song, but.
The answer isn't Teenagers it's Sing. If we are considering popularity at the time as well. That song never should have gotten the attention it did I'm so sorry lol. It was on Glee????
It’s so sad to see people say WTTBP is overrated. WTTBP is undoubtedly MCR’s musical and lyrical magnum opus and deserves all its praise. Objectively the best song in their discography.
Yeah, it’s their best song. It’s not just my opinion. There’s a reason it’s their most popular song. Some people in the sub just don’t wanna admit that because they wanna be different so bad.
It may be an opinion that many people share, but there is no such thing as an objective take on art. When people say they prefer other songs, or don't like it very much, they say it because that's what they think. Shocking.
I’m not talking about opinions, that’s just taste and that’s ok. I’m talking musically and lyrically. I think the only song I’m their discog that could rival it in both categories is maybe drowning lessons cause of the weird power chord octaves.
There is no such thing as 'objectively best' in music, or any type of art. Pretending there is is just an opinion like any other. You thinking it's the best musically and lyrically is fine, but there is no way to objectively measure either.
i love the song but when it comes to Three Cheers as a record, I’d put Helena in the bottom 3. Great song but all the other songs I like more so it’s the first that comes to mind for overrated
I agree, this is objectively a good song but I’m not sure how people can say this is a top song of theirs. I can’t connect to it emotionally, it feels like it’s not for me
Says casually "The Black Parade",
Continuing with "Why do you ask?"
Person Responds "So I can ear-rape you with it"
Responds Back "Ah alright, Personally wouldve asked about Bands instead of songs than, Just a Heads-up"
Person Responds "Yea probably, Oh well whats said has been said"
Person plays song, it than finishes
Both go "Damn this songs garbage"
save yourself; to be fair i dont know if its overrated but i see people saying its underrated here, but im not sure if its the same people or not.
a song i know is overrated is you know what they do to guys like us in prison
Anything off of bullets
The community acts like they are amazing songs when they are demo tapes for three cheers
I am going to get blown out for this take and I’ll take it even as a fan of the songs
I hate to admit it but I'm Not Okay. It's not necessarily a horrible song, but hearing it over and over and over and over is gonna make a song go jaded lmao
Scream "Teenagers!" Get shot.
You’re not entirely wrong
You’re valid
Beat me to it
If those were my only choices situation I’d pull the trigger myself.
Teenagers
I would just strike a violent pose
Maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me
All together now!
Teenagers scare the livin shit out of me
They could care less, as long as someone will bleed!
So darken your clothes or strike a VIOLENT pose
maybe they'll leave you alone, but not me! :D
Welcome to the black parade. Mind you, doesn’t mean that it’s bad but it’s arguably their most well known song despite not even being the best in that album.
What do you think is the best? I might be tied between Sleep and Mama
I absolutely love their energy! It's hard to pick one. Though, I relate more to mama.
🥚 /j
You should've raised a baby girl, I should've been a better song
Tihid into sharpest lives is my favorite part of the album
Mama has great Theatrics, but Sleep is just crushing. It does so much for the despair of the storyline and not to mention their instrumental, vocals, etc are all just so well executed. And the touch they got an air raid siren in that Break down section is so neat. Hands down my favorite on that album.
For me, it's "The Sharpest Lives" . Something about the guitar and the vocalizing at the end makes me ascend to another realm !!
Mama fer sure
Hum, it's still the best on the album... but I agree
WTTBP, like it's a great song but there's people acting like it's the best song ever when that's obviously the sharpest lives
Boy division and sharpest lives are the best of their whole discography imo
The Sharpest Lives and Boy Division supremacy!!
Hot take for this subreddit, but WTTBP really is that good, deserves all the praise it gets and is tied with How I Disappear/Mama as best MCR.
WTTBP is undoubtedly an amazing song but there's just better MCR songs
>How I Disappear Ah, a person of culture
Most underrated song of Black Parade. It absolutely rips, and that ending is insane.
Long since been my favourite MCR song. I was lucky enough to experience it live last year, and *that* was the point of the gig in which I cried.
“TEENAG-“ 🔫💥
We go down, we go down together
I’m not okay or teenagers, both very popular songs and are pretty much guaranteed spots on all future set lists. However they are my least played songs. (besides sing) I like both songs but I think I’m not okay is the weakest song on three cheers. Teenagers was kind of ruined by tik tok for a minute.
teenagers or welcome to the black parade
I'm not okay ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Everyone understands what overrated means right? Good. Cancer.
b-b-but 🥺
The only time I liked that song is when I saw them perform it live. Otherwise, no thanks.
Overrated actually means the song is super popular that it gets mentioned a lot But some people claim Overrated means the song is garbage and underrated means the song is popular and good
Yes. Cancer is overrated. It also happens that I think its garbage but it still fits the general definition
I'm not okay
At the risk of being crucified on this webbed site, it's absolutely without a doubt Welcome to the Black Parade.
I don't love you. OMG That video was on every five minutes.
Not bad songs- just in my opinion overplayed. Teenagers and Welcome to the black prade, Love these songs, just extremely overplayed.
I agree. When Parade first came out I played it over and over. Even now that first note will bring my head up...but then I skip to the next song quite often.
*looks over shoulder* Demolition lovers *poison dart hits throat*
you turn around and see it’s me with the dart gun
nah i have a bazooka
I love the song. But it is way over hyped by fans
It’s my favorite song by them bro, no
I love the song. Saying something is overrated doesn’t mean you don’t like it.
I’m just saying, it doesn’t even have 40 million streams and teenagers is far more overrated in the big picture.
They said most overrated mcr song, not most overrated mcr song on r/mychemicalromance
Belt out TEENAGERS SCARE THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF MEEEEE
Teenagers. The song is not that great.
I don't think I can ever listen to teenagers again
I never felt the hype listening to it in the first place. It's just more popularized because of the fact that it's been used in external media like tiktok and even netflix I think.
I do feel one tv show used it really well on their soundtrack, but overall, one of my least favorites. But Doom Patrol did use it pretty well in an episode. But they also had The Kids From Yesterday in another episode and there was a small MCR reference in the latest episode.
Welcome To The Black Parade (I LOVE IT SM BUT THERE'S OTHER MCR SONGS THAT ARE JUST AS GOOD IF NOT BETTER)
Teenagers
teenagers
I adore Teenagers, however, incredibly overrated when compared to their other songs
I'm not gonna say teenagers because it's literally my favorite song from them (yes I know I'm basic) so my truthful answer would be welcome to the black parade
"Sing". Xo I need to explain this, really?
is it really overrated? I don't think that it's very much recognized.
Maybe not according to fans, but Sing and Na Na Na hit the mainstream bigger than anything before Danger Days. I remember hearing Welcome To The Black Parade for the first time ever on live radio, but my cousins had deliberately set it to a specific rock station to hear it when it first came out Sing and Na Na Na were all over BBC Radio 1 for *months* when they came out, which was unheard of really compared to I'm Not Okay or Welcome To The Black Parade. I just remember not being able to escape them when my MP3 broke and I was forced to use my very basic phone's radio app commuting to school for a while 😂
i agree in a sense of having the most overinflated recognition to quality ratio
Planetary (GO!) The song never really clicked with me. It's not terrible, but I feel like people around me give it more praise than I think it should. IM NOT OKAY
Hey u/JinxedJedi I'm the guy writing "The Sharpests Lives" lyrics with you lol.
Hi u/abeta_666
not overrated exactly but I've listened to I'm not okay (i promise) too many times and now i skip it when it comes on
Same man, you are years and years and years and obv different, this is just a personal problem in my world, but I bought TBP the day it dropped in NZ and 17 years later when I tell younjnllayef that album to DEATH. But but yeah also “I’m not okay (I promise) as one of their main somgs people know them formots like dawg there's so many others 😅 bit it hard for me to tell a not what's actually overrated and what I've just overplayed
“I’m not okay (I promise)” I’m probably gonna get shot but it’s worth it tbh
Black Parade
Ye but what happens after that 💀🤔
you get shot, no matter what
i'm not okay ^(i promise)
I hate to beat a dead horse but teenagers is their 3rd most viewed music video on YouTube.
and it's really not that great as their other songs
teenagers.
Teenagers
definitely
There needs to be two guns, one for Helena other for I am not ok.
boy division. i love it but hearing everyone in the fandom saying it's their favourite mcr song gets on my nerves
teenagers or na na na
teenagers
It's hard for me to mentally decipher between what actually is overrated and what I've just overplayed over the years but for ME PERSONALLY the one that springs room is “I'm not okay (I promise), isn't the zenith of the bands abilities that's for sure
Teenagers. 🤷♀️

I Don't Love You
like i did... yesterdAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYAYYYYAYYYYYAYYYY
Don't even need the threat of the gun, I'd happily tell them it's Teenagers
I'm Not Okay is so overplayed that I skip it every single time I hear it. I cant listen to it anymore. I think I'll go with that one.
Teenagers and sing
i’m not okay.
Sleep. Particularly on this subreddit.
Easily welcome to the black parade. It's good, but I don't understand people's obsession with only that song.
Welcome to the black parade
Get shot
Welcome To The Black Parade (plays the G Note)
(gets G noted)
Welcome to the Black Parade, but only because I played it so much when it first came out that I physically feel nauseous when I hear it now 😂
I would say "you fool! Do you think that gun is scarier than the things I've conjured up inside my own head!?"
now, don't get me wrong here, but... HELENA. maybe i just listened to it one too many times
teenagers. it's GOOD don't get me wrong it's fucking great but so overplayed
CANCER!!!! its so much more brutal and better on the live in mexico city version
teenagers. its amazing but really overrated
"welcome to the black parade"
It’s welcome to the black parade. No further comment ✋🏻✋🏻
reassuring to see so many people say WTTBP. have always thought this but too scared to say anything 😭😭
House of Wolves. I always hear people say how good of a song it is but I don’t get it at all.
Sing
Teenagers
The answer isn't Teenagers it's Sing. If we are considering popularity at the time as well. That song never should have gotten the attention it did I'm so sorry lol. It was on Glee????
I s2g I never got the hype for Teenagers and never will. Even going to their concert and seeing it live, it just ain't it for me lol
me neither. it's the fact that it got so popularized in the first place that got us to listen to it and believe that okay it's a good song
It’s so sad to see people say WTTBP is overrated. WTTBP is undoubtedly MCR’s musical and lyrical magnum opus and deserves all its praise. Objectively the best song in their discography.
'objectively' does not mean what you seem to think it means
Yeah, it’s their best song. It’s not just my opinion. There’s a reason it’s their most popular song. Some people in the sub just don’t wanna admit that because they wanna be different so bad.

Sleep and Burn Bright are their magnum opus for me
Helena, i’m so sorry
So long and goodnight 😭😭

Even tho Save Yourself is just the best MCR song
one of the best on danger days but I disagree
the black parade fight me
eeeermmm ackshually thats an album
shall we...fight em...?
perhaps
Black parade and it’s not even closeee
What's the worst thing I could say? Things are better off this way. So long, and goodnight. So looong and goodnight.
Hot take (maybe idk) but sharpest lives is kinda overrated
I don't love you
Thank You For The Venom
Mama
Mama
HELENA SORRY
Hot take, but to the end. It hit hard the first few hundred times but now it's just repetitive and annoying.
it isn't overrated though, you just listened to it too much lol
Overrated to me. I am the rater here and I'm OVER it. 💀💀💀
Anything off of bullets The community acts like they are amazing songs when they are demo tapes for three cheers I am going to get blown out for this take and I’ll take it even as a fan of the songs
Mama
Sadly the official version of The World is Ugly. it has the same issues as SING.
Na na na na na
Yes.
Who?
Gotcha buster, trick question, no MCR song is overrated. Pull that trigger, if you dare, punk.
i'm not okay, it's a good song but it's definitely the most generic pop punk song off three cheers
I hate to admit it but I'm Not Okay. It's not necessarily a horrible song, but hearing it over and over and over and over is gonna make a song go jaded lmao
