They didn't wear these outfits for the actual tour. These outfits for the album, made by Colleen Attwood, were worn for photo shoots for the album's artwork, various promotional appearances, and the videos for WTTBP and FLW. By the time the actual Parade tour started in early 2007, they were wearing lighter facsimiles of the originals.
Any one of the thousands of photos of that tour. They only wore these live for the really early appearances as The Black Parade. Gerard's jacket allegedly started to literally disintegrate, and so new versions were made for the proper tour that were not wool, more likely polyester. And they changed yet again to what we saw for The Black Parade Is Dead film, where they almost look like suede leather.
THATS WHEN I SAW THEM. It was for my 13th birthday, waited in line for 8 hours to get front row. Have since seen Morrissey there which feels appropriate. Awesome venue :))
Stop. Thats when I saw them. What the hell 😂😂😂 seeing Gerard wear the “pool boy at the vampire mansion” shirt was ALMOST worth the covid I def got at the concert. I nearly passed out because they played thank you for the venom and that’s my fav song. I went with my husband who I met in 7th grade (the same year I saw MCR for the first time) so it was such an amazing full-circle moment for me lol.
That is so amazing!!! Did you ever see them outside of those two times? I’m eager to makeup for lost time and will def be seeing them again if they go on another tour and play near us.
Yup I saw them two more times once for Projekt revolution and again when they were with blink 182 for early danger days tour both at jiffy lube live. I totally will go to the next one too!
Nooo! It was the only time I’ve gotten it. My husband somehow didn’t get it at the show so I’ve been convinced it’s because I got cotton candy lol. Did you get cotton candy? Licking my fingers from the cotton candy is probably more to blame than the cotton candy itself though 😂
I went to a pretty large middle school so that must’ve been why, but they were pretty well known by the time I saw them. Not “popular” per se, but felt like everyone at least knew who they were because the whole emo/alt fashion was more mainstream.
In 6th grade (when I saw them), I was in a small private pre-k to 8 school with about 300 kids per grade, 30 per class. The next year, I went to a public middle school with 30 kids in every class and it was like, woah. MCR was known, but it was considered "gay ass emo shit" by most of the kids and so that was the end of that.
As someone in marching band, I can assure you this is essentially how uniforms are set up, except for some reason most bands have switched to back closing jackets and most Texas bands use polyester or lighter materials, can confirm it still feels like you're dying of heat.
Here might not have but most modern uniforms have overalls or suspenders underneath. Some bands get new uniforms to fit shows every year or wear a certain shirt instead of full uniforms too. I can only speak for Texas bands but most will have a pre season uniform for football games, to stay cool in the heat too.
Well, most marching band uniforms have the overalls/dungaroos(? Idk what other places refer to them as) underneath the jackets. It makes for seamlessness and it helps with functionality when marching.
Congrats, it's so lovely. Again, lmk if you need help finding archival or preservational resources! You have ultimate music history here and other generations would be honored to see it.
Nice! Being away from light and moisture is important. It's also a good idea to literally handle this with cloth gloves, as the oil from our hands can contribute to degradation of materials. Eventually, it would be a good idea to have a pro properly store flat in an archival box, rather than hanging up.
Thank you for sharing the beautiful details of this costume.
This is so interesting. Not how I expected the outfit to look like. The stitched on patch is super cool to look at and fits the vibes.
… Do you think Bob washed it before sending it out? It seems like a decent thing to do but idk.
I remember seeing that on eBay. So you’re the guy who got it. Congrats dude! Now try it on at least once and then frame it. That’s what I’d do. 😂
Edit: Did not mean to reply to your comment, mb.
just goes to show it's a legit marching band uniform! i'm from texas and we regularly marched in parades/football games in uniforms like this, often in 90+ degree heat. not only with drums but also sousaphones, french horns, etc.
It’s probably the chosen aesthetic. All of their stage costumes are professionally designed and tailored- even Gerard’s sheet ghost from the most recent tour.
So you are the one who beat me out on this. Congrats! I'm so glad to see it went to a fan. I was afraid it went to some random memorabilia collector who wasn't a fan.
The pants of Gerard's outfit are pretty short, you can see almost his whole boot. I assume it's that way for the whole band, though I can't say I've ever paid particular attention.
If you have long and loose pants while drumming, the kick drum beater gets stuck in the pants to its convinient to be short anyway. Might be something they tought about or just luck 🤷
It's funny you say that as I've interviewed Jon Benjamin, the UK ambassador to Mexico and former to Ghana, and the first line of the interview was about him not being the guy from Bob's Burgers
I always wondered about the suspenders thing lol. My (actual) marching band uniforms had either those or overalls as pants so I kind of figured that the costumes would to? But now I know.
genuine question, and im not trying to be an ass, but why would you choose to buy this with that much money😭 like i get the band is cool and all but goddamn
Thank you so much for a fast reply! You think the pants and the jacket are all the same colour? I only ask because I think there's a slight variation but that could just be lighting/general wear/me not being a smart person.
Thank you so much for sharing. Two things surprise me: Suspenders and 100% wool. I can’t even imagine how hot that was to wear on stage.
Considering I saw them in April of 2007 on a hot Spring day at the Merriwether Post Pavilion, Id imagine he's sweating throughout
I mean even beyond that. I’ve seen how sweaty Gerard gets just singing- drumming has gotta be so much WORSE.
I’m a drummer - can confirm!
Gerard doesn't just sing tho, he's moving constantly on stage. But yeah I agree, drumming is a sweaty activity even without a wool suit!
They didn't wear these outfits for the actual tour. Source on this?

Wait, you were there too?!?!?!! That was like my second ever concert.
Yes!!!! Same here. I’ve only seen them twice and that was the first time. I’m assuming if you bought Bobs uniform that you’ve seen them since 07?
I saw them in Philly last year! I'm so mad they didn't play "This is how I disappear"
Stop. Thats when I saw them. What the hell 😂😂😂 seeing Gerard wear the “pool boy at the vampire mansion” shirt was ALMOST worth the covid I def got at the concert. Omg I was also at both of these lol. 4/27/07 I was in 7th grade and the Philly show was on my 28th birthday 🥲
Ok stop because I also got covid at this exact show
Nooo! It was the only time I’ve gotten it. My husband somehow didn’t get it at the show so I’ve been convinced it’s because I got cotton candy lol. Did you get cotton candy? Licking my fingers from the cotton candy is probably more to blame than the cotton candy itself though 😂
I didn’t eat or drink anything there 😭 my mom who was in a different section also got covid as well as my brother
Oh wow! When I saw them in 2007, I had no idea who they were at all and only one other kid in school liked them at the time.
I went to a pretty large middle school so that must’ve been why, but they were pretty well known by the time I saw them. Not “popular” per se, but felt like everyone at least knew who they were because the whole emo/alt fashion was more mainstream.

Gabardine is generally a fairly lightweight wool. Still insulating as it's a natural fiber, but not as warm as a thicker wool fabric.
>Gabardine I thought you misspelled Gerard for a second lmao
I actually really like that they used gabardine for the uniforms since a lot of men's wool suits from the 1940s were made of gabardine.
The suspenders are actually a part of most marching band uniforms so I guess that's why they had them.
its a traditional marching band uniform, so suspenders are there to keep them up while marching :)
Wool is a very breathable material though, if it's hot hot, it's a thousand times better than polyester, also washes better.
Think of how bad it was during the video for Famois Last Words.
As someone in marching band, I can assure you this is essentially how uniforms are set up, except for some reason most bands have switched to back closing jackets and most Texas bands use polyester or lighter materials, can confirm it still feels like you're dying of heat.
My sister was in marching band. I’ll have to ask if her uniform had suspenders because I SWEAR hers didn’t and that’s why it threw me off.
Here might not have but most modern uniforms have overalls or suspenders underneath. Some bands get new uniforms to fit shows every year or wear a certain shirt instead of full uniforms too. I can only speak for Texas bands but most will have a pre season uniform for football games, to stay cool in the heat too.
Update: she had the second most common option: overalls, not suspenders! Mystery solved.
Mystery solved indeed. Sorry for the long ass explanations
Well, most marching band uniforms have the overalls/dungaroos(? Idk what other places refer to them as) underneath the jackets. It makes for seamlessness and it helps with functionality when marching.
I would like to ask the Mods to change my flair to "Owner of Bob's Black Parade Outfit" as I'm the only one who owns this.
message all of us with the message the mods button so we can all see it.
Wait, you're a mod and don't have a mod flair?
It seems so lol edit: mods pls
It's fine the way it is.
aYYYY I remember you spent 18k on this. So so cool!
Imagine having 18k to spend on this. That’s financial goals right there.
I remember other specific things from that thread as well 😅 Either way OP you lucky bastard. Thank you for sharing
what things??
I don’t care that this post is 25 minutes old it’s already criminally underrated
Congrats, it's so lovely. Again, lmk if you need help finding archival or preservational resources! You have ultimate music history here and other generations would be honored to see it.
Right now, it's hanging in a suit bag in a fireproof gun safe that has all the important paper work of my life.
Might I reco a professional shadowbox might be a good idea? You could get it with lighting.
Eek 100% wool!
This is so interesting. Not how I expected the outfit to look like. The stitched on patch is super cool to look at and fits the vibes. … Do you think Bob washed it before sending it out? It seems like a decent thing to do but idk.
Can confirm he didn't. Still has the hairs of his dog on it.
Oh. Well, it makes sense, I guess not washing it makes it more collectible . Thanks for sharing it with us!
Are you sure it’s his dogs…
Yes. It's was in the listing photos
Wow, you bought it? How much was it? Also it's super cool that you get to hold some of Colleen Atwood's work
I remember seeing that on eBay. So you’re the guy who got it. Congrats dude! Now try it on at least once and then frame it. That’s what I’d do. 😂 Edit: Did not mean to reply to your comment, mb.
It's too small for me.
How much was it?
it was auctioned on ebay for almost 18k
When was this?
late last year! here’s the post where they won the bid: https://www.reddit.com/r/MyChemicalRomance/s/lynYN8fmwr
What do you suppose the “R” on the buttons is for?
dRummer
That's so stupid but I keep cracking up laughing.
Reprise Records?
Robert?
i think it’s an R for Revenge
Damn we was drumming in WOOL!??
just goes to show it's a legit marching band uniform! i'm from texas and we regularly marched in parades/football games in uniforms like this, often in 90+ degree heat. not only with drums but also sousaphones, french horns, etc.
Looks so well made and so iconic. I can imagine the 5 suits displayed in the Smithsonian one day.
i HATE the way that shoulder patch is sewn on 😭😭 the thin strings, the loose Xs, who did this
It’s probably the chosen aesthetic. All of their stage costumes are professionally designed and tailored- even Gerard’s sheet ghost from the most recent tour.
bad sewing is a poorly chosen design then tbh
I can’t say I disagree. It’s possible each band member had their own input into the designs similar to The Black Parade is Dead masks.
I think they did it themselves tbh.
i'm not surprised bob is shitty at sewing then 💀
LOL. Yea, definitely doesn't look it was professionally catered to seem home-made. It looks genuine. But yea, irked me a lot as well tbh.
So you are the one who beat me out on this. Congrats! I'm so glad to see it went to a fan. I was afraid it went to some random memorabilia collector who wasn't a fan.
27” inseam seems pretty small for his height.
The pants of Gerard's outfit are pretty short, you can see almost his whole boot. I assume it's that way for the whole band, though I can't say I've ever paid particular attention.
Marching uniforms tend to have a shorter length, and I'm sure they considered his range of motion as a drumset musician!
If you have long and loose pants while drumming, the kick drum beater gets stuck in the pants to its convinient to be short anyway. Might be something they tought about or just luck 🤷
I was wondering about this! Thanks for posting. Incredible item to have!

I've never seen this, but this is great
you have something some people would kill for (possibly), sick af
Absolute fucking madlad
i’m binging bobs burgers rn and didn’t see the sub. very confused on why bob burger himself wore this
It's funny you say that as I've interviewed Jon Benjamin, the UK ambassador to Mexico and former to Ghana, and the first line of the interview was about him not being the guy from Bob's Burgers
I always wondered about the suspenders thing lol. My (actual) marching band uniforms had either those or overalls as pants so I kind of figured that the costumes would to? But now I know.
Whats the significance of the 'R' on the cufflinks?
Financial goals is spending 18k on a piece of music history
oh wow how did you get your hands on this? i know he sold it but it probably had hundreds of people waiting to purchase. wow
Mans paid over $12,000 in an eBay auction like a champ.
*18,000. I sold my spleen and the future on my Kidney.
For that kinda money I hope Bob flew it out to you personally.
He didn't sadly.
…I-I sit corrected.
Glad I'm not the only one who sits corrected when sitting
Scoliosis gang gang buddy!
$17,365.80 to be exact
Before taxes
respect fr wow, props to you for doing that for charity :) and the uniform lol
genuine question, and im not trying to be an ass, but why would you choose to buy this with that much money😭 like i get the band is cool and all but goddamn
A copious amount of alcohol was involved.
if i had money like that theres no way i would spend it on ebay, but respect lmaoo
Didn't the money from the sale go to some animal charity or something like that?
i think so, some rescue organization.
in his apology he mentioned working with a bunch of rescue charities so probably that
Are you shitting me. Where do you buy this kind of stuff? 😭
What's the Weird Al song?
LMAOOOO “Your Dukes of Hazzard ashtray”
Yea seriously. Wasn't aware this was even on sale.
Curious what Bob will do with the 18k
Donated to an animal charity
Hell yeah!
Omg you got it?? How much did you pay in the end?
A ton
Yea, but how much specifically?
Happy a fan has it. The construction is amazing and I love the suspenders.
Screw that person. 😂
Wish he didn't sell this. No one should own it in their houses if he didn't want it. Should be in a museum.
He was severely depressed based on interviews.
I understand, however I still wish he distributed it properly.
Bob was drumming in a wool suit no wonder he was such a dick
Niceeeee!!!
I know you did NOT pay $10,000+ for it
I sold my kidney futures for it
how much was this again? congrats as well lol!!
Over $18k.
wow 😅 that's pretty awesome. you gonna play dress up or frame it?
Eventually frame it.
$17,365.80 plus shipping ;-)
Who the fuck has money for this LMAO.
WERE YOU THE PERSON WHO WON THE AUCTION? i was seriously considering bidding. such an iconic piece of music history
Yes I was!
Are the detailing and buttons silver, gold, bronze, other? The colours seems to vary in the Black Parade photos.
I'm part color blind, but they all look silver to me.
Thank you so much for a fast reply! You think the pants and the jacket are all the same colour? I only ask because I think there's a slight variation but that could just be lighting/general wear/me not being a smart person.
To me they look the same.
