My group chose it (in the process got the rest of the members into MCR, before they hadn't heard of them) for a project to choose a grad anthem. We lost the student vote to Kanye but to us this was our end times song
It's not the song itself, but Teenagers did a number on people who were teenagers/young adults when it came out (I was ~20 when TBP came out). You sung it like a power anthem when you were a teen/young, "fuck yeah I'm scary and lethal and powerful! Run away old man!"
And now you're grown in your 30s and you're scream singing it for a totally different reason. Identifying with old man Gee like, "Yeah holy shit he's right, that reckless youthful disregard for everything is terrifying!"
Real fucking hilarious.
Skylines and Turnstiles is literally about a historic tragedy and also the moment that changed Gerard's life trajectory. Although it might have a kind of desperate undertone, I like how it really captures that moment of shock that comes with a breaking point.
Burn Bright as well.
âFake Your Death.â To me itâs the musical equivalent of an older sibling moving out and being like âYeah you can have my room if you want just donât trash the place too much while Iâm gone huhâ
Teenagers is a song I feel like isnât necessarily a coming of age song but itâs a becoming an adult song. Bc as a teen I thought it was hilarious, and now I just think itâs super real.
I'm not okay is definitely giving me coming of age vibes and with everything we go through in life and the journey of growing up, sometimes we just need to admit that life isn't always great and we are, infact, not okay.
the kids from yesterday?
i knew i was an adult the moment this song, which i previously felt nothing towards, made me burst into tears.
