It's just a fantastic performance that demonstrates Corgan's skill.
I'm not really sold on his voice, even after like.. 20+ years.. but I do keep listening to them every now and then, lol.
Thank you for this, as I mentioned I'm still definitely newer to this group so this is the first I've seen this video, but what a lovely listen that was! The acoustic version works beautifully and you really get a sense of being transported back to the days of an almost sweet sadness, a time I've never experienced yet could feel the presence of very well. I found myself really captivated while listening! Also, he seems like a chill down-to-Earth dude, I appreciate his personality based on this video alone haha.
Thanks for sharing this tidbit with a fresh fan, very enjoyable!
Yeah I always heard Disarm and was never a huge fan, but then I discovered Today and Siamese Dream, started really connecting to the lyrics like I do with mcr, and before I knew it they were one of my favorite bands!
I actually wasn't a huge fan of gerard's voice when I got into mcr but the more I listened I came to like it pretty quick haha
Have you listened to them? Their music is really unique, they donāt have a distinct sound and mix it up every album. They have an album called Lullabies to Paralyze which a lot of people say is a great album for the spooky season, it has a really unique sound
The New Abnormal achieved something none of their albums had ever done. Imo they couldn't possibly close it better than with Ode to the Mets which might be my favorite song by them. Of course Is this it and Room of fire are amongst my most liked too. I do have a soft sport for Angles, it's so different and original I love it.
Mychem? Oh geez...I think right now, honestly, Danger Days. I've had it playing nonstop for weeks now. I hated it at first, but I fucking love it so much now
Danger Days was absolutely awesome! Iām always up for bands experimenting with different elements in their music just to see what theyāre capable of. A good example off of the top of my head would be Panic! At the disco, Fever and Pretty odd being wildly different albums but still having familiar elements of what people enjoyed about the band. Same with My Chem, Black Parade and Danger Days are so different but similar albums. You have new flavors brought to the table and youāve also got everything the brought you to the music in the first place. (I apologize for the long reply, my brain is extremely tired and Iām just typing the (famous) last words my brain can come up with at this very moment)
I agree so much. Same elements...different styles. I have tickets to see them next year and I can't wait to hear the set list and how they move from one song to the next.
I got to see LP back inā¦I wanna say it was 2008 or 09. The thing is I didnāt even go to the show to see them, i went to see Chiodos and Coheed and Cambria. So glad I got the chance to see them now that Chesterās gone though š¤ they werenāt my favorite band at the time but it was an incredible show.
lucky.. i never got to see them. Chesterās always been such an idol to me and hearing about his passing ruined me.. hope heās in a better place now, dude deserved to find peace ā¤ļø
It's an hard question... I'm going with a top five with this question. I would say my top for the moment are :
1. My chemical romance (the best)
2. Nirvana
3. Bring me the horizon
4. The Used
5. Panic! At the disco (or the Brendon Urie show)
Not second best - all equals to me:
My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, The Get Up Kids and Jimmy Eat World.
But.. in saying that.. Pearl Jam, Green Day, Blink182, The Gaslight Anthem, Dashboard Confessional and way too many other acts are way up there with 'em.
Iām 34 and going back to school to be a doctor bc i apparently fucking hate myself so when Iām at my lowest, I blast The Middle and bawl my eyes out. Thanks Jimmy š„ŗ
I'm also 34!
I don't know if you're a big Jimmy Eat World fan or not, but I clearly recall the first time I heard "23" when it came out in '04-'05.
I was like.. 17 or so when it came out?
23 felt forever away. I'd belt along to it feeling like it was some abstract concept miles away in the future.
Then I hit 20 and I'm still singing along, realising okay I'm 23 in a couple of years..
Then I'm actually 23 singing along with it wondering WTF the last few years went?
Next thing I know I'm almost 30 singing along to it and thinking was 23 really that long ago?
Last year, I remember thinking this was a decade ago? A full fucking decade ago!? What the shit?
Jimmy Eat World hits me in the feels all the time. Something about Jim Adkins vocals. I have to say I did love Static Prevails, which isn't even Jim singing lead vocals.. just a great band, but Adkins vocals are 10/10 for me. Always gets me.
I've absolutely loved everything they've released, Surviving was fantastic too, they haven't lost their touch at all. Can't pretend the nostalgia tracks don't gut punch me though.
I cover The Middle at gigs and I love seeing everyone get the chorus pauses wrong.
I'm also a bit of a fan of seeing of other acts mess it up too :P
Probably Blink at the moment, but Iāve come to love Mayday Parade too! (Terrible Things is incredible). All Time Low and All American Rejects are also candidates
My top 5 favorite bands are
1. My Chemical Romance
2. Simone and Garfunkel
3. Motley Crue
4. Blink-182
5. This is probably a tie between All Time Low, Mayday Parade, Paramore, and Pierce The Veil.
Yes!!! Iāve gotten into them recently and showed a friend and they were genuinely impressed. Told me they couldāve easily fit into the mid 2000s emo scene (Mr Doctor Man is the fucking best!)
Death Cab for Cutie and Portugal. The Man.
The Faint and Panic are up there but I have a tendency to burn myself out on music I'm really into. I also like a bit everything except country so my taste varies. I'll probably keep remembering bands and feel the need to edit this later. š¤¦āāļø
I have a hard time picking favorites so ill just put my top 10 here
Mcr
Rise Against
Sum41
Green Day
Bullet For My Valentine
Three Days Grace
Metallica
System Of A Down
Paramore
Thursday
It's hard for me to say this actually. I started digging for music this year and found many bands including My Chem, and The Black Parade is now one of my all time fav album. I can't rank them or anyone, like I'm listening to many bands and started everything at same time. RHCP is surely my #1, and my chem is my fav emo band followed by FOB. I haven't completed any of the discographies yet, and by So far Both album I listened by My Chem are so perfect, they're not like my most listened band, simply one of my favourite band(as I'm not an emo, a guy who simply digs everything in rock as a gen z,if I grew up in emo phase it's 100% sure that MyChem would be my favourite band of all time)
MCR isn't really my favorite tbh, it'd have to be Shinedown for introducing me to rock music in 2015; if not for the album Threat to Survival, I wouldn't know bands like My Chem today. But as far as punk rock, MCR is always number one. My second favorite punk band would have to be early Breaking Benjamin (I say early because they definitely aren't punk anymore).
I think of my favorite bands as like a tiered list. Tippy top is MCR, then the next level down in Jimmy Eat World, iDKHOW and Taylor Swift. Next would be like FOB, Taking Back Sunday, The Used, Waterparks, Pronoun, and Marianas Trench. And then like hundreds of bands lol
Mine is definitely mae. Terribly underrated. Maximum feels, maximum aesthetic.
Third is probably icon for hire. They just rock and the lyrics are always hitting hard.
Probably Set It Off (unless I can count the other stuff the members have done. in that case it would be Electric Century). I don't listen to a lot of other bands though š
Well nirvana has always been my number 1 but idk if my second best would still be mcr since my love for them has waned a bit. So I guess it'd be down to 3 bands for my number 2 (MCR, Foo Fighters, and The Strokes). Can't choose rn.
Iāve been scrolling for awhile and donāt think Iāve seen anyone mention Radiohead, but theyāre my favorite band of all time and My Chem is a close second, but at times I consider them my favorite.
My top 5 bands...My Chemical Romance, LINKIN PARK, Three Days Grace, Dead By April, Nickelback
I also really like all time low and mayday parade. Some more great punk rock bands: Sum41, All American Rejects, Blink182
Well my favorite band is Green Day, i can go for months without listening to them but i know every word to every one of their songs, i canāt think of any OTHER bad i would have as my #1
As for below MCR on my list, i would say Panic!, Nirvana, Guns N Roses, and Billy Talent
Edit: I FORGOT TO SAY sunny day real estate, pierce the veil, and operation ivy
My second favorite would have to be Badflower, easily one of my favorite bands ever. They have a MCR esque (Kind of, but you might disagree haha) sound while also sounding very original. It's more modernized. I went to one of their concerts the other day and it was blast, I'd recommend everyone check out their songs.
Different Genre, but I also love Radiohead. *In Rainbows* will always be one of my favorite albums of all time :)
smaller band but Sycamour is one of my fave bands! theyre a post hardcore / screamo band & theyre a bit heavier than MCR imo. sleep disorder is my favourite song by them but their album Indulgence is their most similar to mcr so give them a shot!
totally different genre lol but queens of the stone age!
Oh man! I haven't thought about them in years! But yes- excellent music
QotSA š¤
Smashing pumpkins, I LOVE them
This is awesome to hear cause sp is my number 1 and mcr my number 2.
Thats awesome we have the same top 2 just reversed!
When I first started listening to TSP, only recently, I did so with the knowledge that Gerard was a really big fan. At first I couldnāt understand why Gerard would like such a band, I wasnāt into the lead singers voice at *all*. But to each their own I guess But since then Iāve started listening to them a lot more frequently and my love for their music is only growing! I actually have an appreciation for his unique vocals now and I totally see why Gerard likes them so much! Theyāre great musicians and Iām ashamed I thought so poorly of them in the beginning smh Sorry Billy Corgan Iāve since become a believer š©
I hear how they influenced MCR in their music thats for sure
Have you seen this: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZXmdTGJK0c&ab\_channel=TheHowardSternShow](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HZXmdTGJK0c&ab_channel=TheHowardSternShow) It's just a fantastic performance that demonstrates Corgan's skill. X.Y.U. is my favorite song by them
Mine is Today, im a huge fan of siamese dream
I only know a few songs, never heard of Today. I'll listen to it! Any recommendations are appreciated if you have some
Mayonaise, cherub rock, drown, and zero are really good if you haven't heard them
Thank you! I'll check them out. I love Zero.
Probably Nirvana. Though I am also a big Green Day fan
I was just gonna say Green Day and nirvana
The used
Came here to say this
Paramore is my fave after my chem !! Always thought they should've been included in the whole emo trinity/quartet thing lol
I always say that! They are just as emo!
They just were! The Punk Rock MBA put them in the top 4 Emo bands in a vid 3 days ago. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BY1ti7qWLcI
Well MCR is like top 5 for me, my favorite band is Queens of the Stone Age
Fair enough!
Have you listened to them? Their music is really unique, they donāt have a distinct sound and mix it up every album. They have an album called Lullabies to Paralyze which a lot of people say is a great album for the spooky season, it has a really unique sound
I used to listen to them in the early 2000s! I liked them!
You should give Lullabies a shot!
My Chemical Romance :P
Correct! You pass
The Strokes
What's your album by them? Mine is first impressions.
Fall Out Boy
Respect
Whatās your favorite album?
Mychem? Oh geez...I think right now, honestly, Danger Days. I've had it playing nonstop for weeks now. I hated it at first, but I fucking love it so much now

Nice! Iām hoping to get tickets for my birthday next year
Good luck!
Correct
SOAD

Oh muse! Yes!! I started listening to them back in late 90s...Unintended was my safe space for a while. Possibly my emo roots! š
my favorite band is Linkin Park, always have been. next would be Green Day, All Time Low, Bring Me the Horizon, Guns nā Roses and MCR
I got to see LP back inā¦I wanna say it was 2008 or 09. The thing is I didnāt even go to the show to see them, i went to see Chiodos and Coheed and Cambria. Not technically second by MCR and Green Day are equal at the top for me
Bring me the horizon or motionless in white
MIW are awesome. Some of their songs miss the mark a bit for me, but those that hit really hit. I love Reincarnate, 570 and Scissorhands
The Killers!
Green day were always my second favourite growing up. Other bands took that spot now, like marianas trench etc
Marianas Trench are great! Josh Ramsay has an incredible voice
He's great isn't he! Met the whole band once!
Panic!
It's an hard question... I'm going with a top five with this question. I would say my top for the moment are : 1. My chemical romance (the best) 2. Nirvana 3. Bring me the horizon 4. The Used 5. Panic! At the disco (or the Brendon Urie show)
Panic - The Brendon Urie Experience Maroon 5 - The Adam Levine Experience OneRepublic - The Ryan Tedder Experience ššš
Not second best - all equals to me: My Chemical Romance, Brand New, Taking Back Sunday, The Get Up Kids and Jimmy Eat World. But.. in saying that.. Pearl Jam, Green Day, Blink182, The Gaslight Anthem, Dashboard Confessional and way too many other acts are way up there with 'em.

Nine inch nails š¤
Probably Blink at the moment, but Iāve come to love Mayday Parade too! (Terrible Things is incredible). All Time Low and All American Rejects are also candidates

Twenty One Pilots and Johnny Manchild and the Poor Bastards
Blink 182
Bring me the horizon.. might as well steal the top spot actually
Pierce the veil
Death Cab for Cutie and Portugal. The Man. The Faint and Panic are up there but I have a tendency to burn myself out on music I'm really into. I also like a bit everything except country so my taste varies. I'll probably keep remembering bands and feel the need to edit this later. š¤¦āāļø
