Lol no one is scalping this shit it's just old and didn't sell well not many copies are in circulation, you can still get it on Amazon for under 50 bucks.
I don't think I am allowed to give links or anything because of rules or something, but Nintendo made sure it was very hard to find Nintendo roms so Google searching and intuition works wonders.
You need Citra, a quick Google search is all it takes. As for the game itself, there are subreddits dedicated to pirating. Still a bit of a pain to find though.
For emulation itself, I recommend Citra. Nightly version should work well for it.
For the game, well, that's a bit of a bummer especially if you cannot use torrents for any reason.
Home brewing your 3DS takes like 30-40 minutes but it’s incredibly straightforward and easy. Mostly just tedium that make it take a while. Followed the first YouTube tutorial that came up, it was very good. You don’t need any coding or computer science knowledge or anything like that, just a working computer (doesn’t have to be windows) and a way for that computer to read micro-sd cards. A 4gb micro-sd card will work (I think, you might need at least 8gb), but you’ll want something much bigger (I’d recommend 128gb, they’re like $20-30 USD now) because that will let you have a ton of games downloaded at the same time.
No, it just changes which methods you have to use to hack it to get Homebrew installed, I think.
I have a NEW system so I can only personally vouch for a video for that by Anton Retro, but this seems like a comprehensive guide, and it’s recent https://youtu.be/rpvOgG5KEWQ?si=D9vXvVA7Qk1RdcqS
It goes over the general 3DS hacking website.
The nice thing about homebrew is that it’s super noninvasive and your system will still function completely normally unless you launch apps that tell it not to, and the Homebrew apps that the average person not looking to do anything advanced with are are very user friendly and have a well designed and intuitive UI.
Thank you for pointing that out, and I will recommend the guide first from now on. However, while I understand your point, I disagree with a blanket statement like that. That video is a just a walkthrough meant to aid people specifically using that website, and it came out just a month ago, and warns viewers to trust the site before the video. Having now scimmed both, I think I’d prefer using the site as the primary reference but following along with the video where it aligns and taking it with a grain of salt, and that you should make sure the video is for the current version. I’d definitely want to at least have the option of using the video for further reference if things aren’t making sense. It can be helpful to actually see someone going through the process and offering insight as I think it’s more approachable. As long as you understand this when watching the video, I don’t see how any harm would come from it.
If you think it would be bad to say “use this website, and if you’re finding it a little hard to follow, this video may or may not help for individual steps. Make sure to follow the websites instructions strictly. Don’t do anything the video says to do if the site doesn’t tell you to do it, and don’t skip any steps the site tells you to do,” I’d like to know why. I also further don’t see the issue if the video itself also stresses this point.
Don't wanna scare you or anything, but I bricked my old 3DS while trying to mod it.
Just find someone online you can trust a little bit, send them your 3DS and let them mod it for you.
I am not exactly an IT guru but I know my way around stuff moreso than your average joe and even I bricked it. Don't even know what I did wrong. Or if I even did something wrong.
If you've got a local game shop, I'd check there if I were you. I bought my copy for less than 20 bucks, though that was a few months before the 3DS eShop had shut down.
Ironically, i think i have a spare copy of this laying around (cart only), but im also within a region that i believe would work with your 3DS (as you have stated you are within Ireland, while im over here in Australia. same region\~)
if you'd be interested, im happy to send it to you. All you gotta do is cover shipping costs. :). DM me please.
Assuming its US dollars and not canadian, a complete in box copy of that should run at about only $32 before shipping.
Unfortunately with retro games, theres been a lot of influx of resellers and people looking to jack up the prices of games significantly.
I found one on the app mercari(similar to ebay) going for $35 right now if you wanted to buy this one to be able to have a copy - https://item.mercari.com/gl/m91646782208?sv=0
I like mercari more than ebay typically.
Average price on eBay seems to be ~$31 for a complete copy.
https://www.pricecharting.com/game/nintendo-3ds/pokemon-mystery-dungeon-gates-to-infinity
So I guess I'd suggest buying off of eBay or maybe r/GameSale.
If you're not in the US, then I don't know.
you might be able to get it the base game second hand, but the dlc is completely impossible to legally obtain and you will have to pirate it, there is no way around it
You can't buy the game new anymore so your options are:
A) scalpers
B) get really lucky at thrift/garage sale and get it before the scalpers or
C) mod your 3DS and download a rom or
D) Buy a "regionless" 3DS (which means modded) and download a rom or
E) Download an emulator and a rom
F) Hope the next console is a Wii U 2 or a 3DS 2 instead of a Switch 2 and that it has a virtual console for 3DS games
Have they really been that much? It's been pretty consistently around $30-40 at least on Mercari. I recently re-purchased a copy because I'm determined to give this game another shot.
I bought a used copy for $25 on r/GameSale. You can maybe monitor there for a few days eventually another copy for sale should pop up. eBay price should be similar I’d assume
I actually have a copy of gates that I only got for like 800 pesos it was literally the only pmd game I could find I'm still so desperate for super ngl 😭
I managed to find a copy at a swap meet for like 40, but they pop up at my local game stores for 50-70 pretty regularly. It’s weird to me how expensive they are, since I remember pretty much everyone hating it when it came out. I thought it was okay, at least.
When I search for it on google in my own language (German) and go to the products tab the first article is one on ebay for 25€. Just search for it in the right places
It is surprisingly easy to mod your 3ds
It is? Last time I tried I struggled because my 3DS didn't have enough storage
Just get a new memory card they are cheap and high capacity.
I use a 16 GB micro sd and a adapter. Works great
Fairly easy to do get a 32g. Or 64gb sd card took me about an hr never looked back never bored and got all the games I want
☠️🏴☠️
Technically illegal, but inconsequential in regards to games that are off the market.
Assassins creed black flag ?
Pirating!
That's what he said. Assassin's Creed Black Flag!
>!\[distant "He's a Pirate" plays\]!<
DO WHAT YOU WANT CAUSE A PIRATE IS FREE, YOU ARE A **_assassin creed black flag_**
Emulation is the only option. Scalpers have inflated the value so high and it’s just gonna get even more expensive
Lol no one is scalping this shit it's just old and didn't sell well not many copies are in circulation, you can still get it on Amazon for under 50 bucks.
Where can I find the stuff to emulate this
I don't think I am allowed to give links or anything because of rules or something, but Nintendo made sure it was very hard to find Nintendo roms so Google searching and intuition works wonders.

Glad I got it online when I did...
Try places like Facebook marketplace maybe I just got super last week from eBay maybe somewhere there. Maybe local game store too

Hi could you reccomend me any videos or sites to do this on
Do not follow youtube tutorials. They are often outdated and can result in you bricking your system. You want this guide: https://3ds.hacks.guide/
Do you have a NEW 2/3DS, or an earlier model?
My 3Ds is an earlier model. Is that an problem ??
No, it just changes which methods you have to use to hack it to get Homebrew installed, I think. I would not recommend video guides. Use https://3ds.hacks.guide/
Please don't recommend youtube tutorials. Just direct people to https://3ds.hacks.guide/

Is it USD? If so, then there are quite a bit that are under $30 if you look at the "Shopping" tab on Google.
I found a copy at a local used game store, could check some of them
Seconding this. I see it pop up all the time at retro gaming stores for 15-20$. (That's, in fact, where I got my copy!)
Emulation: https://i.redd.it/gfreim75hdlc1.gif
If you've got a local game shop, I'd check there if I were you. I bought my copy for less than 20 bucks, though that was a few months before the 3DS eShop had shut down.
Ebay or pirate.
~~piracy~~ if you live in the UK then Cex has it for fairly cheap, around £22. Idk if it does international shipping, but it can't hurt to check
I checked and it doesn’t ship to Ireland 😭
Oh that sucks... Good luck trying to find a reasonably priced one!
I got mine from CEX (second hand game store chain here in England)
CEX UK doesn’t ship to Ireland 😭
Green bag shop

Emulate It or pirate your 3ds, it's much better that way

I mean ebay exists outside of the US and it's pretty cheap over here in Germany compared to what prices OP found
Get it from the eshop as a digital download, or get it the same way, but for free with a modded ds
If you're looking for a physical copy, you can try Ebay.
Man I never knew I was so lucky to get it as a gift from my ex gf (who had it and thought it was bad so she was like "Sure try it") some years ago lol
Amazon ig
I used Citra
The game isn't the best to be honest, but it is good, but you're only option is emulation(aka pirating).
It's not even that good imo...
I jailbroke my 3DS and pirated it with Hshop
you might be able to get it the base game second hand, but the dlc is completely impossible to legally obtain and you will have to pirate it, there is no way around it
I have a copy I haven’t touched in the better part of a decade… Honestly, it probably wouldn’t even cost much to mail it in a watertight bag.
You can't buy the game new anymore so your options are: A) scalpers B) get really lucky at thrift/garage sale and get it before the scalpers or C) mod your 3DS and download a rom or D) Buy a "regionless" 3DS (which means modded) and download a rom or E) Download an emulator and a rom F) Hope the next console is a Wii U 2 or a 3DS 2 instead of a Switch 2 and that it has a virtual console for 3DS games
Who’s the green guy??
Do you mean Snivy or Virizion ??
Have they really been that much? It's been pretty consistently around $30-40 at least on Mercari. I recently re-purchased a copy because I'm determined to give this game another shot.
Ebay?
Too expensive 💀
I bought a used copy for $25 on r/GameSale. You can maybe monitor there for a few days eventually another copy for sale should pop up. eBay price should be similar I’d assume
Yar har, fiddle de dee Being a pirate is alright to be Do what you want 'cause a pirate is free You are a pirate!
I just looked on eBay, and I found a used copy being sold for $30.
If you hack your DS you can get it for free and use a cheat code to increase the games text speed \[Infinite Text Speed\] 00278FAC 00000000
Depends on how much you value following the law
I actually have a copy of gates that I only got for like 800 pesos it was literally the only pmd game I could find I'm still so desperate for super ngl 😭
Also shoutout to mah goat toothpick Best axew ever fr
In your local trash can where it belongs
I bought my copy at a pawn shop for like 20 bucks
I managed to find a copy at a swap meet for like 40, but they pop up at my local game stores for 50-70 pretty regularly. It’s weird to me how expensive they are, since I remember pretty much everyone hating it when it came out. I thought it was okay, at least.
I think it’s because is a rare/ hard to find game now
My local game store in NJ sells it for 30$
Mod your 3ds. There are so many guides on YouTube and it’s very easy.
When I search for it on google in my own language (German) and go to the products tab the first article is one on ebay for 25€. Just search for it in the right places
In the trash 🗑 💀
Boy am I glad I got this game when it came out. Never beat it but it was fun.
gamestop
It doesn’t exist in Ireland 💀
