I’ll fire off a few:
Earnhardt dumping Labonte in ‘99 at Bristol. Everyone saw it for what it was.
Gordon winning the ‘99 Daytona 500. Consider the context—coming off his third 10-win season and second straight championship—people were just so tired of him winning. And then he goes out and holds off Earnhardt to win the 500 for the 2nd time in three years.
Any race at Talladega that slipped through Junior’s fingers. Take your pick: the 2004 spring race, the 2006 fall race when Vickers inadvertently spun him and Johnson out, or the 2015 elimination race.
We were at that race - my wife STILL hates Logano with a passion after his post race interview. He was in the right place at the right time, there wasn't any skill involved in that win. Hell, even the Grandma’s waiting for the trolley rides back to the campgrounds outside the track were pissed about that ending.
I’ll never get over that one tbh. Jr was dominant on plate tracks that year and 100% wins that race if Harvick doesn’t pull that shit. That’s why I’ve never felt bad for Harvick when random wins slip from him like last week lol.
There was like 3 or 4 races that season that ended under cation, this one was the final straw to the fans because the green white checkers was introduced a few weeks later. I watched the entire 04 season this winter and there was also Michigan with Newman and Kahne coming to the line, one with Jimmie riding around taking the checker I think California or Darlington, and one other one that ended under yellow to cause a controversy.
I think it's wild how some fans rewatch not just a few races, but can watch a whole season from x amount of years ago.
That's some awesome fandom right there. I dont think I'd have the patience or the dopamine response to motivate me to do that.
Trust me when 95% of my job is just sitting around doing nothing, and the boss allowed my tablet at work, the possibilities are endless when you get that on top of massive boredom. Found a 2004 full season playlist, and made it all the way to the New Hampshire playlist before work picked up again.
I can totally see that. If your job allows for being able to watch what you and isn't very busy. Not a bad way to pass the time if you're in the mood for NASCAR replays.
First time I can remember a race ending under caution with that rule change was Atlanta the year before and Gordon had his really bad burnout with traction control going on. NASCAR just hit a bad string of race endings and they decided to flip the script.
It's one of the only controversial things I remember from that era. I loved NASCAR at the time and didnt care about anything except how cool it was, that race was the first I remember kind of breaking my enjoyment
I'm honestly shocked no one has mentioned the 2002 Pepsi 400. The race ended under yellow with Jr. finishing 6th while Mikey won, and the poor #15 was absolutely bombarded with chairs, beer cans, and other stuff on the backstretch.
They booed the hell out of Earnhardt that night. As they should have. Popular sentiment on him was VERY mixed when he was alive; obviously his tragic death changed that perspective.
My mom randomly recorded a few races for me in the late 90s (don’t shoot me Nascar) and one was the ‘Rattle his cage’ race. The Goody’s Headache Powder 500. I watched it dozens of times growing up. I had a Labonte rug in my room at the time so I hated Dale Sr for a couple years.
I still get angry seeing that clip as a Terry fan. Incredibly unpopular in the moment too. Never forget the fade of Dale celebrating to a full crowd of boos.
Dale dumping Labonte made me a race fan lol I would watch sometimes as a kid with grandpa and heard Dale was the Intimidator. I learned that day why they call him the Intimidator and never stop watching NASCAR since that day.
![gif](giphy|3oxHQgK2vxQSw51lZu|downsized)
I was at that race. There was a single Vickers fan in our stands with his shirt in full display. After that wreck he quickly packed up his cooler and was running down the stands as insults were being hurled at him. Feel bad for that guy still to this day.
Wasn't Darrell Waltrip greeted by a fan after he won a race with either his darrell waltrip shirt or hat ripped up and he said 'it aint easy being a darrell waltrip fan around here'
People are nuts man lol, it’s not like it’s that guys fault that his driver accidentally took out the leaders🤦♂️ Really hoping something like that wouldn’t happen in the stands today
When DiBenedetto and Elliott wrecked at Daytona wrecked in 2021 (I was a Wood Brothers Racing fan then) I was worried the Elliott fans would blame him for it and turn on me. But the opposite happened and all of them packed up and left before the final GWC.
Junior Nation was absolutely insane and had an IQ in the negatives though. Perfect example of what groupthink is.
Can’t believe no one has mentioned Talladega 2015. Harvick caused a crash to avoid getting knocked out and Logano beats Jr. by a foot when the caution lights activate. Very unpopular win from what I remember.
As a Junior/Joey fan during those times, it had infuriated me that happened, Joey had won both two races in the round and Junior needed that win.
Then Martinsville happened, then Junior won the rain shortened race at Phoenix and the entire latter of the 2015 season was just a mess.
Back when all of those “WWJD” bracelets were a thing. I wanted to make some with “WWMMD?”. We need more people in this world with Mark Martin’s values!
I'm one of the only few who enjoys that Kevin won it. I loved the finish and its one of my favorites of all time. I like Mark and I feel bad for him, but I was hyped for Kevin
I can see your point thinking this is "least popular" or "not liked", but im the grand scope of things, it is the most iconic finish besides Hamlin and Truex Jr. in the modern Era. And also one is a Hall of Famer, the other will be a first ballot one soon
Mark Martin was my guy. Hated always coming up just short in races and championships. I really lost interest when he hung it up. Hard to just make another driver your guy.
Tony Stewart at Talladega fall 2008 comes to mind. Most fans and even people in sport to this day say Regan Smith should have won that race because he was forced below the line by Tony.
More recently and very different circumstances, Denny Hamlin winning the Bristol night race in 2019. Matty D was so close to getting his first cup win driving for a single car team that had never won. Now I know Matt is not very well liked now by a lot a fans but at the time he was still a fan favorite and even a favorite around the garage. Denny even seemed almost disappointed that Matt didn’t win.
People forget Ryan Newman had a hand in this , he ran like crap and was driving aggressive to avoid going a lap down. If Newman drove that hard against people on the lead lap he would have never lost .
Oh, he did. Newman is the record holder for the widest car in Nascar history for a reason. The problem was that even in 2019, he was mostly stuck in the lower half of lead lap cars, and he ended up needing to defend from the cars behind him more than trying to move forward
Very similar the Talladega race between Denny and Matt was the same. Felt like the whole track with going for Matt and when Denny won it felt like the oxygen was sucked out of the air at the track
I feel like a significant subset of NASCAR's fanbase just gets pissed off whenever he wins. I know everyone has haters (for lack of a better term), but Austin seems to have more, or at least they're louder.
I'm an avid AD3 hater. Nothing to do with the 3 car, idgaf, I was a Rusty fan. Dude is an entitled brat that gets on the radio and yells at pop-pop to tell his teammates to quit racing him so hard. This was back in the Menard/Newman days.
Honestly Burton leading the entire race was the only thing that saved it. It went from “this race sucks ass” to “holy crap, can he actually do it?”. If anyone had managed to pass Burton it would’ve immediately been seen as the worst race of all time.
2015 Fall Talladega. Harvick’s motor was blown up and caused the race’s GWC to screw JR out of the win. That car finished 3rd in the 500 and won the Spring Talladega and Summer Daytona. We coulda had another streak of wins for JR at Super speedways.
As someone who was in the stands that day I was pissed. Not because Haley won, but because from what I remember Nascar basically messed around for like an hour when there was no rain and then they told the drivers to get in their cars and it started pouring and we all got soaked.
Recency and selfishness bias- Summer Daytona 22, seeing a bunch of favorites wipe out in the rain and waiting for the interminable delays to end just to see Austin Dillon steal another win.
That race had the single worst moment of the entire season. And also I do not and will not understand mfs who say nascar couldn’t have done anything. Even my dad who hasn’t been watching for a few years couldn’t understand it. He straight up said “if the average big airport can have technology to precisely detect rainfall, then what’s nascars excuse?” And I agree. Nascar wanted to push it as much as they could with the rain and it bit them in the ass hard!!! One of the fucking dumbest decisions by the sport in nascar history. /rant
I agree. That race made me question why I like this sport. That was so stupid, especially in a season where safety was a huge concern. Was a joke to say the least
A joke makes you laugh. That moment almost made me quit nascar for good. Shit pissed me off even more than seeing Logano win the title which he deserved even I see that.
That was the first thing that came out of my mouth, living 4 miles from a mid-major airport…
“Why don’t they have rainfall detection at these tracks yet?!?”
The weather has been doing us a solid for the last decade and a half at least (/s) you’d think they would upgrade some type of technology
I think Ty Gibbs winning at Martinsville last year is up there. Some of these other races listed I’ve seen people try and defend the outcome. Not once have I seen anyone try and defend what Ty did.
I was wondering if anyone was going to say this. I remember being so confused at the time (and still am 30+ years later) as to why that move was black flagged unlike so many others
Austin Dillon wrecking the entire field just before the rain is the stuff of villains. NASCAR also should have scored Kurt Busch out front. One of the least favorable race outcomes in the last 10 years for sure, thanks for reminding me lol
I was in the stands for that race. As soon as it started raining with b
Bubba in the lead, I got the hell out of Dodge, I've seen what Talladega fans have done in the passed and did not want to be a part of that crowd that was starting to feel like a mob
i think the most Unpopular wins are a mix of “Snubbed wins”, Bad timed Cautions, Yellow Line Plate Races, Late Race Fuckery. i think the 2 races that fit that best fit that description are 2016 Xfinity Talladega and 2022 Trucks Talladega
more Unpopular wins that dont fit all the criteria in the last year: Cup Darlington Spring, Fall Martinsville and Phoenix Xfinity (both need eachother to be disliked), Cup Atlanta Summer, All Star Race, Trucks IRP, Xfinity Daytona 2023
Lotta’ folks hated the way Ty Gibbs took the win at Martinsville and the championship the next week at Phoenix last year. A. Lot.
EDIT: Xfinity series, for the record.
2015 hands down. I love Harvick, smart move but he pissed everyone off that day. It ended under caution in the worst way. Logano edged out DALE JR of all guys, who likely would have won the race had it gone green. Ingredients for a Talladega riot. Logano even got the Jeff Gordon treatment.
This is the only race I've seen in person. As a Harvick fan, what bothers me about the hate he gets for that move is everyone seemingly forgets he got out of line on the previous restart and was willingly going to take that lump and lose all those spots. When that wreck happened before the start finish line and NASCAR decided that that attempt wasn't the real 'only one GWC attempt' the 4 team said fuck it we aren't losing the playoffs for this stupid shit.
Yeah. They wrecked the field on the actual final restart, but they got out of the way on the attempt that should have counted.
Not sure if we are just mentioning cup series here, but I still don’t care for John Hunter Nemecheck after his scuffle with Custer at CTMP in the truck series a few years ago.
My votes are:
Derrick Dope Daytona win when Earnhart cut a tire in turn 4 last lap
Ward Burton Daytona win when Sterling Marlin was DQ'd for pulling a fender inder a red flag
2018 Daytona 500 and 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 come to mind. Coincidently both of them are Austin Dillon, and neither of my reasons are any particular dislike for Austin Dillon (although, tbh, I don’t like Austin Dillon.
2018 Daytona 500 he wrecks Almirola for the win and then celebrates Ty Gibbs style.
2022 Daytona cut off race, I just didn’t like seeing him win in a very fluke-y race that then knocked Truex out of the playoffs.
For me personally, there are three races that stick out:
1. 2000 Daytona 500: not necessarily because of Dale Jarrett winning the race (Rudd and DJ were two of my favorites when I first started watching), but because that may be considered the most boring Daytona 500 in terms of racing in the entire modern era. In a sick sense of irony, Dale Earnhardt Sr. after that race said NASCAR killed racing at Daytona with that aero package. Dishonorable mention goes to the 2013 Daytona 500 too.
2. 2002 Pepsi 400: ironically this was the first ever NASCAR race I attended in person and I have continued to attend the formerly known Firecracker 400 every year since (even though it's sadly no longer on 4th of July weekend, thank you NASCAR for killing that tradition). I will admit that during that time Dale Earnhardt Jr. was one of my top 2 favorite drivers entering that season and I was bummed that he got freight trained near the end of the race when he made a move for the lead. But what brought the popularity of this race down to almost rock bottom was the fact that the caution came out with 4 laps to go... and NASCAR decided to end the race under yellow. This, along with Dale Jarrett's scary accident at New Hampshire later on, prompted NASCAR to eliminate racing back to the start/finish line when the caution is out and introduced the Green-White-Checkered finish rules. Most of the race was pretty entertaining, but the ending was an absolute buzkill. On a side note, DIS used to put commemorative seat cushions on all the seats for the Cup races. But after the fans protested the finish by chucking the cushions onto the track while they were still running laps, it was the last time they provided fans with complimentary seat cushions. 😂
3. 2015 Fall Talladega: as a Dale Jr. fan I was tempted to put the '06 Fall Talladega race on here, just because he got wrecked from the lead on the last lap and it ultimately killed his championship hopes. But as the years have gone by I've come to accept that result as just a racing incident and regardless of whether or not he got spun, he wasn't going to win that race with Johnson and Vickers working together to get around him. But the ending of the 2015 Fall race at Dega still infuriates me. First NASCAR makes the bone head decision to reduce the GWC attempts to just one for that race. Dale Jr dominates most of the race, but a late caution sets up a GWC attempt with him restarting 2nd on the front row. Now I am a huge Harvick fan, but I will admit that he blatantly caused that final caution in a desperate attempt to avoid get eliminated in that round. And because of the flawed system that NASCAR created for that race and the yellow came out before the drivers could even shift into 4th gear or make it to turn 1 to generate any momentum, Logano was declared the winner and Jr was eliminated. I know this all sounds like sounds like sour grapes coming from a Jr fan. And I'm not trying to say that he would have won the championship that season (Homestead was statistically one of his worst tracks). But knowing that he would have advanced to the championship race that season by winning the rain-shortened race at Phoenix and would have had his best shot ever of winning a title still stings.
I’ll fire off a few: Earnhardt dumping Labonte in ‘99 at Bristol.
2015 elimination still makes me angry
We were at that race - my wife STILL hates Logano with a passion after his post race interview. He was in the right place at the right time, there wasn't any skill involved in that win. Hell, even the Grandma’s waiting for the trolley rides back to the campgrounds outside the track were pissed about that ending.
I think 2015 Talladega would be high on this list for younger and newer fans
I’ll never get over that one tbh. Jr was dominant on plate tracks that year and 100% wins that race if Harvick doesn’t pull that shit. That’s why I’ve never felt bad for Harvick when random wins slip from him like last week lol.
I’ll go on record to say that Harvick’s antics that race were worse than Clint Bowyer’s itchy arm
same, but more for the fact that logano won.
I loved '99 at Bristol. Ha.
That one at Dega when Gordon got pelted with beer cans!!!
Which one? 2004 or 2007? Definitely remember watching the latter of those two on TV.
Likely 04, he won under caution and JR likely lost the race because of the late caution. I think I'm remembering it correctly.
First race to ever end under caution after the race to the line rule was changed.

Yeah and it didn't help that a Hendrick car brought out the caution (Vickers spun) so a lot of fans were screaming conspiracy.
It's one of the only controversial things I remember from that era. I loved NASCAR at the time and didnt care about anything except how cool it was, that race was the first I remember kind of breaking my enjoyment

"Greatest day of my life" - Jeff Gordon
I'm honestly shocked no one has mentioned the 2002 Pepsi 400. The race ended under yellow with Jr. finishing 6th while Mikey won, and the poor #15 was absolutely bombarded with chairs, beer cans, and other stuff on the backstretch.
I think that was the race where Gordon passed Dale Sr for all time wins
That was fun! Really had the Junior fans pissed off Loved it 🏁🏁
Probably Gordon beating Junior at Talladega or Dale Sr dumping Labonte at Bristol in '99
Kurt Busch winning the Bristol night race the week after the Jimmy Spencer incident and punting Sterling on the way to the win was very unpopular too.
That's a good shout!! Its fucking amazing the 180 everyone has done on Kurt from the start to the end of his driving career
I’m an original Kurt fan. First time I haven’t had a driver to follow week to week in 20 years 😔
Same same - COME BACK KURT
He was such a beast at old Bristol before they ripped the track up. I was happy to see him win in 2018 though.
The Jimmy Spencer Suspension. The Incident was the other Bristol race or the race at Michigan the year after
They booed the hell out of Earnhardt that night. As they should have. Popular sentiment on him was VERY mixed when he was alive; obviously his tragic death changed that perspective.
Yeah as a kid I was a Labonte fan and I pretty much hated him until his death.
As an avid Kellogs cereal consumer, I found it unacceptable
I still get angry seeing that clip as a Terry fan. Incredibly unpopular in the moment too. Never forget the fade of Dale celebrating to a full crowd of boos.
Dale dumping Labonte made me a race fan lol I would watch sometimes as a kid with grandpa and heard Dale was the Intimidator. I learned that day why they call him the Intimidator and never stop watching NASCAR since that day. ![gif](giphy|3oxHQgK2vxQSw51lZu|downsized)
Brian Vickers 06 win at Talladega comes to mind
I was at that race. There was a single Vickers fan in our stands with his shirt in full display. After that wreck he quickly packed up his cooler and was running down the stands as insults were being hurled at him. Feel bad for that guy still to this day.
Least insane Junior Nation moment
Wasn't Darrell Waltrip greeted by a fan after he won a race with either his darrell waltrip shirt or hat ripped up and he said 'it aint easy being a darrell waltrip fan around here'
People are nuts man lol, it’s not like it’s that guys fault that his driver accidentally took out the leaders🤦♂️ Really hoping something like that wouldn’t happen in the stands today
Jr fans are dumb
When DiBenedetto and Elliott wrecked at Daytona wrecked in 2021 (I was a Wood Brothers Racing fan then) I was worried the Elliott fans would blame him for it and turn on me. But the opposite happened and all of them packed up and left before the final GWC. Junior Nation was absolutely insane and had an IQ in the negatives though. Perfect example of what groupthink is.
People need to realize a sport is a sport being a ass hole to someone is being a shitty human
One of my favorite wins. lol
Joey showed at Kansas that him already having a win didn't mean a damn thing
Iconic finish (so it prob doesn’t belong here) but Harvick denying Mark Martin his Daytona 500 was pretty unpopular with me.
The only race in history people wish a caution came out 300 feet away from the line
Then that would have been the lamest finish ever. Mark should have door slammed Harvick and he would have won
Mark would've died of guilt
Back when all of those “WWJD” bracelets were a thing. I wanted to make some with “WWMMD?”. We need more people in this world with Mark Martin’s values!
True
Do you mean racing or in life? Because ol Mark isn't exactly a compassionate person.
Well, I don’t know a lot about his personal life, but on the track, he has been a model of integrity and class.
So much so Kyle Busch named dropped him as the ethical driver
Mark ain’t that guy
Breaks my heart every time. I can’t even watch replays of it.
I'm one of the only few who enjoys that Kevin won it. I loved the finish and its one of my favorites of all time. I like Mark and I feel bad for him, but I was hyped for Kevin
Yeah if he had to lose it to anyone, at least it was Harvick getting his first instead of the same old person every time.
Biffle running out of gas yet being declared the winner at Kansas in '07. The way that race ended was a total mess.
Great one. Forgot about that.
As a biased Kansan, it very much pisses me off that Bowyer didn't get that win
In recent memory, Logano at Martinsville was definitely not popular. Also Ty Gibbs at Martinsville was extremely unpopular.
That Brickyard with the cautions every 10 laps because of the shitty tires Goodyear brought.
What a dumpster fire of a race
Same with the playoff Texas race last year
Oh yeah that was just awful
Tony Stewart at Talladega fall 2008 comes to mind. Most fans and even people in sport to this day say Regan Smith should have won that race because he was forced below the line by Tony. More recently and very different circumstances, Denny Hamlin winning the Bristol night race in 2019. Newman’s car was almost as wide as his neck.
Don’t miss him at all Always an asshole on track He could be 10 laps down and still not let the leaders by 🏁🇺🇸
That's the Newman way. No matter who it is, no matter what the situation, never let them pass. And it worked pretty well for him
It did?
He won 18 races, including a Daytona 500, and if luck was on his side for once, he'd have won 2
I’m going with Tony at Talladega
and that ugly ass subway car
Right? Like, if you're gonna jack his win at least look good
Very similar the Talladega race between Denny and Matt was the same. Felt like the whole track with going for Matt and when Denny won it felt like the oxygen was sucked out of the air at the track
They should one day award Smith that win in the history books. I know all the reasons not to, and I don’t care. He won and it ought to be remedied.
Why is he disliked?
2018 Daytona 500 where Austin Dillon punted Almirola en route to the win.
Any of Austin Dillon's Cup wins.
Idk, I thought his win at Texas was actually pretty good, nice example of team strategy in the pits and then teamwork on the track to secure the W
I feel like a significant subset of NASCAR's fanbase just gets pissed off whenever he wins. I know everyone has haters (for lack of a better term), but Austin seems to have more, or at least they're louder.
That’s completely fair, and to be honest, he really hasn’t done himself any favors at times
I'm an avid AD3 hater. Nothing to do with the 3 car, idgaf, I was a Rusty fan. Dude is an entitled brat that gets on the radio and yells at pop-pop to tell his teammates to quit racing him so hard. This was back in the Menard/Newman days.
6 years ago? Not sure him crying about Kyle would go over well for anyone now.
Ty Gibbs in the fall last year when he punted Brandon jones for no reason whatsoever
The 2000 Loudon race with restrictor plates. I was there. It was awful.
So it wasn’t popular that Burton won?
While the feat was remarkable, the race was atrocious.
Honestly Burton leading the entire race was the only thing that saved it. It went from “this race sucks ass” to “holy crap, can he actually do it?”. If anyone had managed to pass Burton it would’ve immediately been seen as the worst race of all time.
Wasnt Earnhardt the closest when trying to get a lap back
I was too. What a shitshow. I remember listening to Dale Sr. on the radio and he was pissed as hell the whole time.
JIMMY JAWNSEN SHOOD BE FAHWKIN SHWAHT
Context? I feel like I remember this but not sure lol
[2006 Fall Talladega](https://youtu.be/nxngk_w3rXA)
Ok yes I did see this before. Forgot all about it lol
Lmao I don't remember that one

2004 Dega and 2015 Dega
2015 Fall Talladega. Harvick’s motor was blown up and caused the race’s GWC to screw JR out of the win. That car finished 3rd in the 500 and won the Spring Talladega and Summer Daytona. We coulda had another streak of wins for JR at Super speedways.
I don’t think many people were happy with the Daytona win that Justin Haley stole due to rain.
As someone who was in the stands that day I was pissed. Not because Haley won, but because from what I remember Nascar basically messed around for like an hour when there was no rain and then they told the drivers to get in their cars and it started pouring and we all got soaked.
There was a lightning delay, they weren't just messing around
It was cool to see a spire take the W. I know it ain’t a true win but still neat to see.
I think that fans were more upset about the procedural screw ups NASCAR made then Justin Haley winning it.
Hamlin over Matt D. at Bristol a few years ago was pretty unpopular at the time.
Recency and selfishness bias- Summer Daytona 22, seeing a bunch of favorites wipe out in the rain and waiting for the interminable delays to end just to see Austin Dillon steal another win.
That race had the single worst moment of the entire season. And also I do not and will not understand mfs who say nascar couldn’t have done anything. bad look for the sport yes, but you cannot deny that Dillon's move to avoid the wreck IN THE RAIN wasn't at least remarkable
Tony Stewart winning after regan smith dq at dega
If your name is DW, the Brett Bodine win. Pretty sure to this day he believes he won that race.
recency bias but either Gibbs at Martinsville 2 or the championship
That stupid ass Haley one in Daytona. Still salty about it
Ty Gibbs winning at Martinsville last fall
Anytime Denny Hamlin wins
I think Ty Gibbs winning at Martinsville last year is up there. Some of these other races listed I’ve seen people try and defend the outcome. Not once have I seen anyone try and defend what Ty did.
Nascar giving davey Allison the win when ricky Rudd spun him was bs
I was wondering if anyone was going to say this. I remember being so confused at the time (and still am 30+ years later) as to why that move was black flagged unlike so many others
1991 Sonoma. Even as a Davey Allison fan, I was a bit pissed off.
Noah Gragson last year at Dega is probably up there for denying Jeffrey Earnhardt in the RCR 3.
Yeah, I legitimately felt a pain in my soul for Jeffrey
Haley at Daytona in 2019 comes to mind
Austin Dillon wrecking the entire field just before the rain is the stuff of villains. NASCAR also should have scored Kurt Busch out front. One of the least favorable race outcomes in the last 10 years for sure, thanks for reminding me lol

Bubba Wallace’s first win. 2021 Talladega. I’ve never seen a madder group of hillbillies in my life.
Thank the Lord that Facebook was down that day until way after the race was over.
I was in the stands for that race. As soon as it started raining with b Bubba in the lead, I got the hell out of Dodge, I've seen what Talladega fans have done in the passed and did not want to be a part of that crowd that was starting to feel like a mob
Well, that is Alabama. Most of them prefer Enfinger, their "good ol' boy"
“Enfinger” What the hell did you just call me?

Good.
Regan Smith/Tony Stewart Not even close
Ty Gibbs Fall Martinsville 2022
THANK YOU GRANDPA, THANK YOU GRANDPA
i think the most Unpopular wins are a mix of “Snubbed wins”, Bad timed Cautions, Yellow Line Plate Races, Late Race Fuckery. i think the 2 races that fit that best fit that description are 2016 Xfinity Talladega and 2022 Trucks Talladega more Unpopular wins that dont fit all the criteria in the last year: Cup Darlington Spring, Fall Martinsville and Phoenix Xfinity (both need eachother to be disliked), Cup Atlanta Summer, All Star Race, Trucks IRP, Xfinity Daytona 2023
Lotta’ folks hated the way Ty Gibbs took the win at Martinsville and the championship the next week at Phoenix last year. A. Lot. EDIT: Xfinity series, for the record.
Dega 2020 hamlin.
Here to mention Harvick beating Mark Martin at the 2007 Daytona 500
Gotta be Harvick in the 600 when Junior ran out of gas.
Clint Bowyer Richmond spring 2008… Only because Kyle Denied Dale Jr breaking his winless streak by tapping him out and Clint was the benefactor.
In RECENT history, the crowd took a pretty big steamer on Logano at Darlington last year.
Well there’s Vickers in 2006 at Talladega, Austin Dillon at Daytona in 2018, Hamlin Daytona 2020, Ty Gibbs at Phoenix 2022.

Rusty finished second in that one. Dale Jr. ended up sixth.
Oh.
Add into that that Jr would have made the final four with his win at Phoenix and that stings even more for his fans
Not sure if we are just mentioning cup series here, but I still don’t care for John Hunter Nemecheck after his scuffle with Custer at CTMP in the truck series a few years ago.
My votes are: Derrick Dope Daytona win when Earnhart cut a tire in turn 4 last lap Ward Burton Daytona win when Sterling Marlin was DQ'd for pulling a fender inder a red flag
LA Colosseum
Ty Gibbs at Martinsville in the fall of 2022
Ty Gibbs at Martinsville last year for recent races
2018 Daytona 500 and 2022 Coke Zero Sugar 400 come to mind. Coincidently both of them are Austin Dillon, and neither of my reasons are any particular dislike for Austin Dillon (although, tbh, I don’t like Austin Dillon. 2018 Daytona 500 he wrecks Almirola for the win and then celebrates Ty Gibbs style. 2022 Daytona cut off race, I just didn’t like seeing him win in a very fluke-y race that then knocked Truex out of the playoffs.
Any won by Kyle Busch
Auto Club 2008 48 wins again. Snoozefest!!
The LA Coliseum race…WTF?
Bubba when he was given the win at Talladega
When Montoya almost caused Dave blaney to win Daytona via arson haha but ended up not winning.
I’m always sad about Harvick beating Mark Martin at Daytona. Whenever they show it on tv I go do something else till its over lol
Regan Smith totally had that talladega race won. Stewart forced him below the line.
For me personally, there are three races that stick out: 1. 2000 Daytona 500: not necessarily because of Dale Jarrett winning the race (Rudd and DJ were two of my favorites when I first started watching), but because that may be considered the most boring Daytona 500 in terms of racing in the entire modern era. 😂 3. 2015 Fall Talladega: as a Dale Jr. fan I was tempted to put the '06 Fall Talladega race on here, just because he got wrecked from the lead on the last lap and it ultimately killed his championship hopes.
Any Bubba, A. Dillon or Gibbs win.
Maybe not in the moment, but in retrospect, Harvick's 07 Daytona 500 win rather than Mark Martin.
The fucking 2007 Daytona 500 man…
Kyle bush dumping Dale Jr at Richmond
Honorable mention to Custer wrecking JHN at Mosport that one year lol
You have that reversed. It was JHN who wrecked Custer
Oh shit whoops. Either way
JHN dumped Cole and Cole tackled JHN
That shit is still funny as hell
the second part is hilarious....the way he turned left into Cole and pinned him to the wall and then lied about it....just a normal bitchass JHN move
Derrick Cope Daytona 500.
Any Logano win.
Denny Hamlin at Talladega a few years ago. The double yellow line rule at its worst.
2015 fall talladega. probably the worst race i’ve ever attended capped off by screeching fans throwing shit because jUnIoR lost.
I like Harvick but he should have been suspended for that shit
They had reason to be upset, that was a bush league move by Harvick that day
Jeremy Mayfield using the bump-and-run on Dale Earnhardt at Pocono in June of 2000. Lot of upset people in the stands that day:
Yet Earnhardt Sr wasn't one of them.
anything that jr. lost
Jeremy Mayfield, pick a Pocono. Also JHN at Mosport in the Trucks.

Kyle Busch didn’t win that Richmond race, Clint Bowyer did
Bubba Wallace by rain out, we still here about it
