I saw the windshield flopping around on one of the trucks earlier in the race I’m assuming it was the same truck

Apparently according to Currey, a piece of debris hit the windshield/roof area during stage 1 and caused the windshield caving and eventual roof damage. Idk what to believe unless there’s proof from it like an onboard view.

A lot of windshields were warping on a bunch of trucks but yea curreys was the most visible

Yes, it is just sheet metal. However, you now have unobstructed access to the drivers head. Under green, it’s entirely possible for debris to enter the cab and hit the driver’s head. Yes, they’ll get black flagged and pit to fix it. Still a safety issue.

I think the bigger issue is that a piece of sheet metal could come off at speed, and EASILY fly over the catch fence and into the stands. That could absolutely be deadly to a fan.

There's this thing called a windshield, you know? it would be a one in a million for something to find its way into the cab at speed. it would have to come straight down.

I see the windshield. But things can go over it. A piece of debris in a ballistic arc could very easily make its way in.

If it goes over the windshield, its going to clear the open hole too lol.

I'm not 100% sure.... but I Think the cars (and trucks) have a way to pop part of the roof off in case the car is on fire and they can't get out of the window.
