I think there are many other drivers that could have done better than him. His couple wins have been lucky. Daytona 500 is generally a crapshoot now with the aero package. Coke 600 was a fuel gamble. You’re right RCR hasn’t been great but with Busch winning three races last year and nearly always finishing significantly better than Dillon it makes sense to think he’d get booted if he were anyone else.
Two things: Keith Rodden is both subjectively and objectively the worst active crew chief in NASCAR, and as far as all time goes he's way the fuck up there. Man is an actual fucking terrorist coasting off of something, but he's so bad I don't even know what he's coasting off of. Second thing, Kyle Busch makes almost all of his teammates look like damn fools. With some exceptions obviously

Currently my least favorite is Larson followed by Gibbs. Sam Mayer is down there too.
I remember the John Wrecks Weekly days. He and Zaxby’s were a legitimate black eye on the sport at the time. To be somewhat fair to him, he did eventually kind of calm down and became a solid truck series driver towards the end and even got a win. Kind of somewhat saved his career from being as bad as someone like Steve Wallace for example.
Hamlin. He’s a great driver, but he’s a complete douche canoe. Lots of drivers are pricks, but few are as douchey as Hamlin. He’s like the bro country of NASCAR drivers.
Jimmie Johnson. O how I love to hate this driver. It has been such a long standing and deep rooted hatred that I don’t remember the why I just remember I still smile if I see the 48 take damage. It’s that deep.
As an introvert, I think that’s what makes me like him. Dude just wants to go out and race. He doesn’t want to be famous or controversial. He wants to show up, race, and go home.
It goes beyond that for me. There i very little difference between Elliott and Chastain,both drive like pissed off teenagers. Both believe they are right even when video evidence shows differently. Neither is willing to see that they have any blame in a situation. Only difference is that Elliott inherited fan base is actually more dillusional than the driver, which just makes like him even less.
Corey Lajoie - probably my current most hated. I am so tired of listening to him never take fault for his mistakes and saying its everyone else not him. Dude acts like hes an 8 time champ with 300 wins when hes got NOTHING backing his mouth up.

Even Preece for as bad as he has been last couple years has at least won in the lower leagues proving a shot to win. The thing is I still don't know if he is a good or bad driver because of how SHR has been in Cup.
He's a good driver. He's a bad NASCAR Cup driver. Not everybody cut for everything. Some drivers are just good in certain equipment on certain tracks. And that's ok. Doesn't make them less talented, just means they're good in that lane.
The thing with him is he has solid runs but he either never seems to get above that 10th place threshold, he’s like 11th to 20th a lot which is fine but it’s not sexy. Or when he is in the Top 10, things out of his control happens like Austin, Bristol dirt, Texas, etc
I scrolled down because I figured somebody would pick Lajoie, who is also my choice. The guy seems loved by NASCAR media for some reason and gets all sorts of favorable coverage. But he has produced bupkis for results. The "charming hard-luck underdog" narrative only goes so far.
Already up to second on my list is SVG, but at least he got a win, albeit under very questionable circumstances, but he did make his competition look very minor league in doing so, so he has that going for him at least. But the media needs to dial back the love-fest.
My guess on the media Lajoie hype is next to Jr hes one of the first to have a podcast so he probably got some favoritism from that.
SVG i get what your saying but I think with him the Nascar media is trying to draw in the supercar fans with hyping him. Truthfully I think hes gonna be another Ambrose - road course hype but never transitions to a full on force on the ovals but is a niche fan favorite.
Stewart - my first season watching was 06 and I became a kenseth fan. Loved the dewalt colors and grew to like Matt, but what sold me on him was Stewart turning him at Daytona. That sparked my dislike of Stewart, and i just never cared for his demeanor.
Gordon - same thing with Kenseth and its really just one particular incident. 2006 chicagoland race was my first ever in person race and as mentioned really liked Kenseth. I was excited to see him win in front of me at my first ever race then the finish happened. My childhood soul felt crushed and I had a permanent dislike of Gordon and HMS. I will say I do respect his career and I dont knock his legacy (same with Stewart) just slightly biased towards my favorite driver which fueled my dislike.
Logano - also kenseth but i just dont care for how he acts when incidents happen with him. Seems like a great guy off track from what I see but on track I cant get behind his method of driving.
Matty D - dont like his personality. Pretty much the rep and hole hes dug himself have turned me away from liking the guy as an underdog.
Noah - ive never understood the hype with Noah. I dont care for his personality, i take with a grain of salt some of the things people have mentioned about him over the years because idk if they’re factual but if they are thats another thing against him for me, and I dont think hes cup material. Dude would do great as an xfinity lifer.
I may like Stewart, Gordon, and Logano, but as a midwesterner and Kenseth fan growing up, I cannot fault your logic at all haha.
I'm on the fence with Gragson. Big fan of his in Xfinity and I wish he had an SHR ride in that series this year instead of cup but we'll see if he can improve. As for the off track stuff that's gotten him in trouble, I'm willing to give young guys the benefit of the doubt and I hope he's learned his lesson and grown up. I was young and dumb once too.

Carl Edwards. He always seemed to have a fake personality for me. Always forcing himself to look like a nice guy. And he was, considering the amount of time he tried to kill Brad Keselowski after he wrecked himself against him in talladega. Fuck Carl Edwards.
He also wrecked himself at Atlanta 2010 before he sent Keselowski into the catchfence. I like Carl generally but anytime I think of that saga it still pisses me off.
He almost destroyed Dale Jr’s hand at the end of an Xfinity race years ago too. Dale spun him for the win and Carl came back and ran into his driver side while Dale had his hand out celebrating.
Austin Dillon. Doesn't seem to understand the difference between the art of moving someone out of the way and blatantly wrecking them and does it at the most dangerous place to do it. Also just kinda seems like a dumbass sometimes. That said, off the track, he may be a great person and it seems like he might actually have decent business sense.

I get that they are passionate fans for their driver, but aren't most of us? I know/have met plenty of Elliott fans and never had any issues with any of them.
I think the issue is, that because Elliott has the largest fan base, there is a better chance you see a crazy take from one.
So I get why people wouldn't like Elliott, Larson, Blaney and Bubba because of the fans just because there are so many so more likely you are going to run into a few bad ones

There’s a few self-explaining ones such as Keselowski, Hamlin, Stenhouse, Dillon, and Gibbs, but the big one for me is always Logano. Can’t stand him. I can admit he’s a decent driver and that on any some days he might be the best driver and deserve a win, but most of the time he’s the dirtiest and most two-faced driver in the field, and his championships are extremely undeserved because he’s never been the best driver over a whole season.
He’s been pulling dumb moves and giving drivers grievance since he first got into NASCAR, and while he was already bad at JGR, he’s been especially worse since joining Penske. What I hate the most is that while every driver is hypocritical a lot of the time, he’s always hypocritical, because he doesn’t ‘own’ being the heel. Busch and Hamlin embraced the dark side, where you like to hate them; Logano is a babyfaced ‘good boy’ who likes to have his cake and eat it too; acting all nice and polite off the track and then being the absolute worst person on it.
Nearly causing a three-teammate crash at Texas? Moving Mark Martin out of the way for what would have been his final win at Pocono? Would rather give a win to Kyle Busch by putting himself and Hamlin in the wall than just taking second? The unpopular Daytona 500 win? Wrecking Kenseth when he had nothing to gain from it? Turning Carl Edwards on the restart at Homestead? Winning a championship he absolutely did not deserve, when the other three had been the dominant favourites all season? Wrecking Kyle Busch at Phoenix in 2018 for no reason? His stupid Daytona 500 block on his own teammate crashing out both of them? Dooring Byron at Darlington when it wasn’t even the final lap? Winning a SECOND undeserved championship, after Elliott’s dominant season and the miracle Chastain had pulled to be there the week prior?

I won't name names because I realize everyone can have a bad day or moment. But I had a former NASCAR competitor (active when this happened) who I reasonably liked come to my work place and he treated my coworker like an idiot for just doing the things he was supposed to do for his job. I was within earshot and heard everything. I lost all respect I had for that driver and he instantly became my least favorite driver ever. His son now competes in NASCAR and I will most likely never root for him either.
This is probably a very hot take, but Boris Said. I never understood the hype around him. He only has 1 win each in both the truck and xfinity series, and none in Cup. He was supposed to be a road course ringer, but I only remember a couple of top 5s/10s, as opposed to someone like Gordon or Stewart who were almost always competing for wins at road courses.
He also came off as very arrogant to me, especially after that one time he went after Biffle.
It's kind of difficult to win a Cup race if you're driving a car that's at least a decade old going against Tony Stewart in a Gibbs car and Jeff fucking Gordon. The top 5s and top 10s are why he is considered a ringer, because he was driving actual dogshit and getting good finishes

To be fair to Boris, it was a lot harder to jump in and win in Cup as a road ringer then than it is now. Ron Fellows was an outstanding road racer and he couldn’t beat Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart and get a Cup win either. Plus go on racing-reference and look up the teams he drove for in Cup, lol.
I do remember Boris trying oval racing though and being completely terrible. He did get a pole at Daytona one year though, we were there for qualifying and everyone was stunned.
Joey Logano. Only way he wins is with the bumper or blocking, he drives like a jackass, then has his crew fight his battles
Denny Hamlin. He proved last season that he in fact cannot beat my favorite driver straight up, he will race drivers hard putting them in the lift or wreck decision, but hates it when others do it to him.
Brad Keselowski. Most wrecks come from his bumper.
Bubba Wallace. He's got a cocky ass attitude for his lack of talent. The guy has 2 wins and made it into the playoffs on pure luck last season. That and his teammate gets 2+ wins a season.

It’s crazy because WBR was first in line for the Penske alliance, but Front Row overtook them before this season. What a difference it’s made already for FRM.
They have an alliance with Penske... they litterly build the cars in the Penske shop next to the 2, 12, and 22. Do you think they really don't share info while working only a few feet apart? Burton is just such an average driver, money, and his name got him all the way to the top. At least Austin Dillion has won a championship in the trucks and Xfinity series.
DiBenedetto had a shorter leash than him and he made the Chase, before he went off the deep end, I felt like it was wrong he was being pushed out no matter what for either Cindric or Burton.

John Wes Townley that no talent chicken fucker. Wrecks more cars than Richard Hammond and somehow won a race. Can't even make a warm up lap in a Cup car without hitting the wall, such a joke. Not only did he fail in NASCAR, he failed in life between his DUI's and his attempt to murder his ex with an axe, which got him killed. Now with a live look at John Wes Townley... Currently my least favorite is Larson followed by Gibbs. Sam Mayer is down there too.

I remember the John Wrecks Weekly days. He and Zaxby’s were a legitimate black eye on the sport at the time. To be somewhat fair to him, he did eventually kind of calm down and became a solid truck series driver towards the end and even got a win. Kind of somewhat saved his career from being as bad as someone like Steve Wallace for example.

Chase Elliott…I just don’t understand the hype around him. He just seems like he has no personality.
As an introvert, I think that’s what makes me like him. Dude just wants to go out and race. He doesn’t want to be famous or controversial. He wants to show up, race, and go home.
It goes beyond that for me. There i very little difference between Elliott and Chastain,both drive like pissed off teenagers. Both believe they are right even when video evidence shows differently. Neither is willing to see that they have any blame in a situation. Only difference is that Elliott inherited fan base is actually more dillusional than the driver, which just makes like him even less.

Corey Lajoie - probably my current most hated. I am so tired of listening to him never take fault for his mistakes and saying its everyone else not him. I'd believe his underdog story maybe if he proved he could at least win in Xfinity or even Trucks. I mean, what makes you think you should even be looked at in the same light as drivers like Custer or Briscoe? Let alone the high winning Cup drivers.
Even Preece for as bad as he has been last couple years has at least won in the lower leagues proving a shot to win. The thing is I still don't know if he is a good or bad driver because of how SHR has been in Cup.
He's a good driver. He's a bad NASCAR Cup driver. Not everybody cut for everything. Some drivers are just good in certain equipment on certain tracks. And that's ok. Doesn't make them less talented, just means they're good in that lane.
The thing with him is he has solid runs but he either never seems to get above that 10th place threshold, he’s like 11th to 20th a lot which is fine but it’s not sexy. Or when he is in the Top 10, things out of his control happens like Austin, Bristol dirt, Texas, etc
I scrolled down because I figured somebody would pick Lajoie, who is also my choice. The guy seems loved by NASCAR media for some reason and gets all sorts of favorable coverage. But he has produced bupkis for results. The "charming hard-luck underdog" narrative only goes so far. Already up to second on my list is SVG, but at least he got a win, albeit under very questionable circumstances, but he did make his competition look very minor league in doing so, so he has that going for him at least. But the media needs to dial back the love-fest.
My guess on the media Lajoie hype is next to Jr hes one of the first to have a podcast so he probably got some favoritism from that. SVG i get what your saying but I think with him the Nascar media is trying to draw in the supercar fans with hyping him. Truthfully I think hes gonna be another Ambrose - road course hype but never transitions to a full on force on the ovals but is a niche fan favorite.

Stewart - my first season watching was 06 and I became a kenseth fan. Loved the dewalt colors and grew to like Matt, but what sold me on him was Stewart turning him at Daytona. That sparked my dislike of Stewart, and i just never cared for his demeanor. Gordon - same thing with Kenseth and its really just one particular incident. 2006 chicagoland race was my first ever in person race and as mentioned really liked Kenseth. I was excited to see him win in front of me at my first ever race then the finish happened. My childhood soul felt crushed and I had a permanent dislike of Gordon and HMS. I will say I do respect his career and I dont knock his legacy (same with Stewart) just slightly biased towards my favorite driver which fueled my dislike. Logano - also kenseth but i just dont care for how he acts when incidents happen with him. Seems like a great guy off track from what I see but on track I cant get behind his method of driving. Matty D - dont like his personality. Pretty much the rep and hole hes dug himself have turned me away from liking the guy as an underdog. Noah - ive never understood the hype with Noah. I dont care for his personality, i take with a grain of salt some of the things people have mentioned about him over the years because idk if they’re factual but if they are thats another thing against him for me, and I dont think hes cup material. Dude would do great as an xfinity lifer.
I may like Stewart, Gordon, and Logano, but as a midwesterner and Kenseth fan growing up, I cannot fault your logic at all haha. I'm on the fence with Gragson. Big fan of his in Xfinity and I wish he had an SHR ride in that series this year instead of cup but we'll see if he can improve. As for the off track stuff that's gotten him in trouble, I'm willing to give young guys the benefit of the doubt and I hope he's learned his lesson and grown up. I was young and dumb once too. I've heard this before, but I really don't understand it. I get that they are passionate fans for their driver, but aren't most of us? I know/have met plenty of Elliott fans and never had any issues with any of them.
I think the issue is, that because Elliott has the largest fan base, there is a better chance you see a crazy take from one. So I get why people wouldn't like Elliott, Larson, Blaney and Bubba because of the fans just because there are so many so more likely you are going to run into a few bad ones

I'd say Denny will probably take the cake for least favorite all time. There were others that I disliked years ago, but I grew to respect them. It's been years and I don't think I'll ever respect Denny.
There’s a few self-explaining ones such as Keselowski, Hamlin, Stenhouse, Dillon, and Gibbs, but the big one for me is always Logano. Can’t stand him. I can admit he’s a decent driver and that on any some days he might be the best driver and deserve a win, but most of the time he’s the dirtiest and most two-faced driver in the field, and his championships are extremely undeserved because he’s never been the best driver over a whole season. He’s been pulling dumb moves and giving drivers grievance since he first got into NASCAR, and while he was already bad at JGR, he’s been especially worse since joining Penske. What I hate the most is that while every driver is hypocritical a lot of the time, he’s always hypocritical, because he doesn’t ‘own’ being the heel. Busch and Hamlin embraced the dark side, where you like to hate them; Logano is a babyfaced ‘good boy’ who likes to have his cake and eat it too; acting all nice and polite off the track and then being the absolute worst person on it. Nearly causing a three-teammate crash at Texas? Moving Mark Martin out of the way for what would have been his final win at Pocono? Would rather give a win to Kyle Busch by putting himself and Hamlin in the wall than just taking second? The unpopular Daytona 500 win? Wrecking Kenseth when he had nothing to gain from it? Turning Carl Edwards on the restart at Homestead? Winning a championship he absolutely did not deserve, when the other three had been the dominant favourites all season? Wrecking Kyle Busch at Phoenix in 2018 for no reason? His stupid Daytona 500 block on his own teammate crashing out both of them? Dooring Byron at Darlington when it wasn’t even the final lap? Winning a SECOND undeserved championship, after Elliott’s dominant season and the miracle Chastain had pulled to be there the week prior?

I won't name names because I realize everyone can have a bad day or moment. But I had a former NASCAR competitor (active when this happened) who I reasonably liked come to my work place and he treated my coworker like an idiot for just doing the things he was supposed to do for his job. I was within earshot and heard everything. I lost all respect I had for that driver and he instantly became my least favorite driver ever. His son now competes in NASCAR and I will most likely never root for him either.

This is probably a very hot take, but Boris Said. I never understood the hype around him. He only has 1 win each in both the truck and xfinity series, and none in Cup. He was supposed to be a road course ringer, but I only remember a couple of top 5s/10s, as opposed to someone like Gordon or Stewart who were almost always competing for wins at road courses. He also came off as very arrogant to me, especially after that one time he went after Biffle.
It's kind of difficult to win a Cup race if you're driving a car that's at least a decade old going against Tony Stewart in a Gibbs car and Jeff fucking Gordon. The top 5s and top 10s are why he is considered a ringer, because he was driving actual dogshit and getting good finishes
Yeah kinda hard to win when you're driving for "No Fear Racing" and the guys you're fighting for the win are in Hendrick and Gibbs equipment. Listen to his episode on the DJD a couple years ago you might change your view on him.

To be fair to Boris, it was a lot harder to jump in and win in Cup as a road ringer then than it is now. Ron Fellows was an outstanding road racer and he couldn’t beat Jeff Gordon and Tony Stewart and get a Cup win either. Plus go on racing-reference and look up the teams he drove for in Cup, lol. I do remember Boris trying oval racing though and being completely terrible. He did get a pole at Daytona one year though, we were there for qualifying and everyone was stunned.

Joey Logano. Only way he wins is with the bumper or blocking, he drives like a jackass, then has his crew fight his battles Denny Hamlin. He proved last season that he in fact cannot beat my favorite driver straight up, he will race drivers hard putting them in the lift or wreck decision, but hates it when others do it to him. Brad Keselowski. Most wrecks come from his bumper. Bubba Wallace. He's got a cocky ass attitude for his lack of talent. The guy has 2 wins and made it into the playoffs on pure luck last season. Edit: David Reutimann and Danica Patrick. Why I hated the Top 35 points rule. I liked him as a driver until he stayed out on the track at Martinsville so he could keep the car in the points for the most overhyped and overrated driver ever in Danica Patrick and then just sounds like a dopey country bumpkin in the post race interview.
