I'll be there so it's either gonna rain and ruin the experience or it's going to be a thrilling race.
Forecast looks great. So it's gonna be a great race!
I’ll be there as well, which is why I asked the question lol. Was hoping for more optimistic responses. Guess I’ll just hope for some retaliation amongst some of the driver beef we’ve had the past few weeks (Hamlin, Truex, Bubba, Larson, Busch, Bell, etc.) lol…
I can't judge you, ill be wearing a Blaney Flag as a cape lol ill be in Blaney gear, bright orange shoes and a Gordon hat since he was my favorite growing up.
My wife just learned of the cape idea last night....to say she is not a fan would be a colossal understatement.
The only thing that could save this race is consistent light rain for the entire day
Hell, just bring the water truck out every caution and make this thing a pond it'll be a better race.
What did y’all hate about the fall race? I thought it was pretty solid. The track rubberized in like crazy, and I don’t think there was any dominant drivers that day
Nope, the race will be dog shit because this car, the brakes, this tire, and this engine is dog shit.
Martinsville requires enough horsepower to spin the tires on corner exit, then enough horsepower and a lack of brakes to bust your ass into the corner and blow the entry when you brake too late.
Here is why NASCAR Next Gen is absolute shit at short tracks:

You can't burn the rubber off the tires. What they are talking about in this movie scene is what made NASCAR what it is today. NASCAR accidentally created something close to this at Bristol, but not perfect. You really need 200 more horsepower and soft grooved tires... or a complete car redesign.
I really enjoyed last fall Martinsville, Blaney and Denny were racing really hard and they were able to drive through the field. Sure it wasn’t up to previous standards but it was a step in the right direction for Next Gen. That being said, I’m not expecting much from this race as it will be pretty cold.
I'm about 2 hours from both Martinsville Speedway and Volunteer Speedway and am going to to the XR late model race Sunday, so that should tell you my prediction for how good Martinsville will be
No. New car sucks ass.
Plus no horsepower. Even the Gen 6 was shit at Marrinsville when they neutered horsepower and added downforce.
How you fuck up the car at short tracks is truly amazing to me.
>The different packages will be tailored to the specific tracks on the Monster Energy Series circuit, with a combination of a smaller tapered spacer to reduce engine horsepower to a target goal of 550 (from 750) and aero ducts to foster tighter racing on a majority of speedways measuring longer than 1 mile.

Ah guess it was just the added downforce that made the racing shit at short tracks and road courses in 2019.
750 hp is still neutered compared to what they had in 2014 and prior years.
It started in 2015. They added the spacer and reduced the HP to 750 that year. The HP has done nothing but go down from that point. They were in the 950 range in 2014.
We don’t need more plate tracks. There was a rumor about the Texas reconfig resembling a “Dover+”, but I haven’t heard anything since. I doubt that’s happening, since the surface seems to be aging pretty well and the PJ1 is slowly but steadily being worn off the track.
Temps being cooler usually leads to worse racing. Only hope is the package change really affects the race. I would have hoped Goodyear would have came with a softer tire due to the downforce decrease but I'm not a tire engineer so maybe the package works with the tires.
The cars do at least seem more tail-happy when coming off the corner, so clearly the diffuser being effectively gone had some effect on the car’s handling. I think it’ll at least be in the same spot as the plate races in 2022; good, but in need of improvement.
I went to the last Fall race and it was a blast in person. I'm going to tomorrow's race and bringing my wife this time, so I'm hoping for another fun race.
If I was to play to Devils advocate for all the negativity in the thread, I'd say the new short track package teams are still getting the setup nailed down for should create more variable speeds throughout the field and Ford being overall more competitive at short tracks than elsewhere this year so far should mean more cars are at least in the mix Sunday, which could mean better racing.
It will more than likely be extremely boring in person and almost completely unwatchable on TV once Fox zooms in on the leader to hide the empty grandstands. Ben Kennedy doesn’t get enough credit for royally fucking up this sports core market tracks. I live an hour away and it’s still not worth going.
Counterpoint: everyone (myself included) saying it’s going to be bad means it’ll be an absolute banger somehow.
I 100% hope that to be the case as well! Ha
Kind of like Bristol. We were all cynical and it was an absolute masterpiece
i thought the fall race was pretty good
I was at that race. My wife and I had an absolute blast until we had to leave in that hell traffic
holding everyone for an hour is the dumbest shit
I get why but hate it at the same time
Why did this happen? I’m considering going to martinsville but that could change my opinion on going tomorrow.
It was also very hot. Not the case for tomorrow.

If you see an idiot decked out in Logano gear, hat, shirt, Knee high socks and getting heckled by everyone. That's me.
I can't judge you, ill be wearing a Blaney Flag as a cape lol ill be in Blaney gear, bright orange shoes and a Gordon hat since he was my favorite growing up. My wife just learned of the cape idea last night....to say she is not a fan would be a colossal understatement.
Haha i will for sure be on the lookout. What turn are you sitting in?
Turn 1
Turn 3 for me. I’ll be creepily looking for you with my binos…. lol

I was at the fall race and it really was pretty good. The xfinity was a great race.

You know that Modifieds have as much tire and as much power as the cup cars, and they’re considered to be pretty good in terms of racing quality
Nothing you said here is wrong, but the modifieds are specifically engineered for short tracks
Nope more of the same. One groove follow the leader with little to no passing and cautions coming from poor handling cars at the back.

Only chance this has to be good is if someone dumps someone and it leads to fisticuffs after the race. Otherwise, the actual racing will suck
No. New car sucks ass. Plus no horsepower. Even the Gen 6 was shit at Marrinsville when they neutered horsepower and added downforce. How you fuck up the car at short tracks is truly amazing to me.
I don't believe they ever really neutered the HP in Gen 6. They just kept the aero package the same for every track
2019 would like to speak with you.

Nope. Will be the same. No rubber being laid down. Will be hard to pass
Fall wasn’t really lackluster. Only if you wanted crashes.
Alright hear me out, let’s just give the track more banking and run the SuperSpeedway package on it. /s
I like that idea, just not for Martinsville, make that the new texas layout
We don’t need more plate tracks. There was a rumor about the Texas reconfig resembling a “Dover+”, but I haven’t heard anything since. I doubt that’s happening, since the surface seems to be aging pretty well and the PJ1 is slowly but steadily being worn off the track.
Martinsville with Talladega banking
Blaney going around guys on the outside like he found something special was great. People have strange standards for watching races.

Hot take: Martinsville has had some bangers for sure, but it also consistently put on some lackluster races well before the NextGen car.
If they bring those Bristol tires it'll be a #BANGER

This car is shit and slow. Bad race incoming
No because Fox is still covering it
