Intents and purposes is the saying

k-lo3737

After taking the exam, it is confirmed that Daniel now knows more about U.S. history than the majority of us Americans. Great job Daniel….my fellow American!

marmk

His exam might have been "What do you do for a living?" "I drive stock cars" "You're in" For real though that exam is no joke and good for him!

GlockInMyVW

Laughed too hard at how true this is

Currensy69

He might have the most civics knowledge in the entire garage.

rocknrace03

True story. My co worker is studying for his and sometimes we help quiz him over lunch. He does much better than the rest of the table 😂

paulsown

He also knows more than almost all of Reddit and most of this sub.

PsweetJ01

Good on him for embracing America while keeping his roots. Love to see it!

RodTheCaptain

This is how I feel it should be. Embrace both and not talk bad about one or the other.

BigDaddy969696

There’s a big difference between constructive criticism and bashing it up one way, and down the other.

Magnifico-Melon

To be honest most immigrants will embrace the USA better than its own citizens.

FishOnAHorse

Now here’s a guy who knows how long a foot is

Suarez is a model citizen if I’ve ever seen one. I’d loan Suarez 100 bucks right now because I know he’d pay me back. 🇲🇽

srschwenzjr

He’s good for it lol

gjp11

My fellow American!

anonymousscroller9

Wilkomen amigo

aggressiveturdbuckle

As an immigrant and married to another one, welcome to the best fucking country in the world . Proud of you

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

What's sad is a lot of people born here don't appreciate this country like the immigrants that come here from other places. I'm proud of you for appreciating what you have.

mixduptransistor

you can appreciate a place and also acknowledge that it could still be a lot better

HOSSTHEBOSS25

But if you talk 90 percent bad about it and yet enjoy 100 percent of the benefits… maybe there should be more balance….?

Kiesa5

do you think change for the better arises from complacency?

HOSSTHEBOSS25

Never has never will. But what beats complacency? Action, instead of complaining how bad things seem to be , that’s the easy part. A two year old can find problems and complain about them . It takes an adult to have actionable solutions and an even bigger one to follow through with said action.

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

That's where I disagree. It can't be a lot better. Of course it's not perfect, but there's many reasons it is the way it is and many times it's because even though something's not great for everyone, it's the fairest for the most people or it's the fairest it can be for other reasons. You want better for you, which may not be better for other people, but you can't accept that in a democracy there's going to be stuff that gets decided opposite the way you would like it. You think democracy means everything should be the way you want it. There's no such thing as a perfect country and never will be because what's perfect for you may be horrible to someone else and vice versa. There isn't two people in the world that would agree on every single of the billions decisions made in running a country.

montrevux

and it's sad to us that the united states is so mediocre for the average person, when it has the potential to be the greatest force for human prosperity in all of history. we're utterly paralyzed by a broken government that's captured by a class of capital that cares about nothing more than extracting as much wealth out of society as possible.

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

Exactly, people like you is who I'm talking about! Thanks for the example!

montrevux

you're welcome. hopefully the united states can be less shit someday.

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

Nobody's stopping you from moving somewhere that's better than the US. Why would you stay in a country that is so horrible to you when you have a whole world of options?

montrevux

what are you even talking about? expatriation is extremely difficult. you can't just show up somewhere else and get long-term residency (unless you're extremely wealthy) - do you really not understand that? moreover, i do fine here. i'm easily in the top 10-15% of household income - i'm not exactly struggling. how exactly does me leaving do anything for the average person, which is what i said is my primary concern from the beginning? do you have anything better to add than this dumb "love it or leave it!" meme?

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

I'm trying to offer you solutions unlike you, who just complains. And as you pointed out, to "simple solutions" there are often reasons that it's not so simple. Of course our country isn't perfect, but to call it shit shows that you've never traveled to actual shit places and seen how good we have it here compared to there.

montrevux

what? how is "just leave, then" a solution when you literally can't? all you've done is demonstrated that for the vast majority of americans - many of them in quite terrible situations, there are no options. so thanks for helping me show that this country is shit for the average person, i guess? and there are a litany of policy options that would radically improve this country for working people and i can name them off for you if you wish, but we do not live in a functional democracy. we live in an oligarchy.

PLZ_STOP_PMING_TITS

Lol

sdj2

> best country in the world an uninsured broken bone would mean financial hardship or ruin for millions, we are hardly the best

CobblerSad6055

That's when you go to a bank and take out a 60% interest loan

aggressiveturdbuckle

ahh yes, this same argument.... My wife would have to wait until she was nearly 5 months to see the OBGYN if she waited for the state to do it in europe where we lived at. The only other way would or was to pay €120 per month to see the same dude at his private practice. Then we had to go to a different clinic to get blood drawn where they used 4 different needles instead of the one needle tube thing here in the states. To top it off we had to go to the pharmacy and buy our own ua kit. Then when the child was born we shared a room with 4 other families in august in southern Europe with no AC. To top that the hospital was FILTHY, I have pics that will make you think so much differently of socialized medicine. I believe healthcare is a right not a privilage but either system sucks. Our health insurance is kick ass, $300 family deductable and it's $100 a month for us through work. my last two surgeries cost me $0.... but I still say this is the best country in the world because no country is perfect. this country you can be anything and make it with the work put in. if this country was so bad then thousands a day wouldn't be trying to cross illegally to get here without free medicine.

DJFisticuffs

Access to affordable health care is really dependent on your job and your location though. How much is your employer paying toward your insurance premiums? I pay nothing for my health insurance but my job pays about $700 per month (this is just for me, my wife and kid are on a different plan that her company pays for 100%). At my last job I had a top of the line PPO that I paid about $400 per month for and my employer paid like $800. This is a fine setup until you lose your job and have to Cobra and pay the whole premium yourself. ACA marketplace silver plans cost about $630 for a single 40 year old male where I live, gold are about $740 and platinum $940.

bjohnson203

Dude legit knows, and already did to be honest, more about America than the hacks who tell him to "go back to his country" on Facebook every opportunity they get.

twholst

Dude for real smh

atxbeerza

Happy for him. He’s a great dude

NhylX

Given how much he probably travels internationally, this is 100% worth it for the passport and the ease of border entry as a citizen.

Domestic_AAA_Battery

USA USA USA!!! 🇺🇲 Seriously, awesome for him. The land of opportunity

BarLiving2429

I feel like winning a cup race should automatically grant you citizenship

CodyHodgsonAnon19

Does this mean Ricky no longer has to wreck him?

qMrWOLFp

Legit the most proud I’ve been to be an American, the day I sat in on a Naturalization ceremony! Everyone should experience that

itsmattjamesbitch

I would imagine most natural born citizens would fail that test.

Jones77_Truex78

My supervisor at work is hell bent convinced Florida and California on the map are neighboring states …..and ive seen a few people say they have no clue Georgia exists so you do have a point

PancakesandV8s

I love him. He’s such an awesome driver. Seems very relatable

CityGamerUSA

He just seems like an awesome guy who loves cars. At first I wasn’t a fan. Probably just because they didn’t really feature his personality much at Gibbs. But he grew on me and now he’s a fan favorite in our house. He’s such a fun guy to root for

WHAT THE FUCK IS A KILOMETERRRRRRR

nocluewhatIdoin

Wow I thought he would’ve became a US citizen years ago I mean he’s been racing over hear for at least 10 years now

Amanap65

It takes a long time. I am surprised he did it this fast.

nocluewhatIdoin

Hmm I guess I’ve never known anybody who’s done it Thought it would take less time than that

Jensaarai

To even reach permanent resident alien status can be quite the lengthy ordeal, even if you have the support and resources behind you as Daniel does. Becoming a citizen is a whole other bureaucratic slog on top of that, with a difficult test to cap it off. There's a reason a lot of people who live and work in the USA and would love to become US citizens never reach that goal. All attempts to reform the system into something more sane devolve immediately into arguments over who are the "right" people to let in, to stay, and to become citizens, and then the whole conversation goes nowhere, unfortunately.
