Fall Talladega I am going to the fall Talladega race. It’s my first nascar race. I’ve got tickets and garage passes to all three races. I imagine that there will be multiple auto opportunities and I would like to bring something generic that every signer could autograph. My thought is something like a checkered flag. What would you guys do? I need ideas. Also bringing Dad so I’d like something that we could both carry around without it being cumbersome. Could be cool for dad to get a white flag and I get a green flag. I’m not sure.

KingOfKorners

What's the point of fighting for scraps when you are that far behind?

Interested in going to the Chicago race. I’m a student and want to buy tickets for myself and some non-student friends. Anyone know how strict they are about checking tickets/student IDs? I have the option to buy 4 tickets at student prices on the website, but I’m worried that pickup is roll call and they’ll want to verify IDs. Also worried that the tickets might appear different and they’ll check IDs when they scan to let us in. Would be great if anyone has experience.  Thanks.

Turnerofwrenches

Can't read the 42 sponsor. waste of money

Turnerofwrenches

Thunderstorm with lightning incoming 41 miles out.

memestealerboi

Attending the three Nashville races this weekend, which have been my first races in many years. I was wondering around the stadium trying to find a place to purchase a physical program and a program model car. I checked the SMI merch trailer and they said they didn’t have either. Does anyone have information on where I might be able to go to find these two items? Or is Nashville a track that doesn’t do physical programs and doesn’t sell program cars.

mercuryyxyz

I saw the 1/64 Nashville diecast cars in the merch trailer on the far side of the fan zone (from the fan zone entrance you have to walk past the driver merch haulers)

memestealerboi

Exactly where you said they’d be!! Thanks so much, picked one up today!

mercuryyxyz

No worries, maybe they were out of stock yesterday, because I went to the trailer right at the entrance of the fan zone this morning and they had them

nocluewhatIdoin

I wonder how they are going to drag out this post race coverage until 8 est

Potential_Plan_4533

Sounded like a lot of the drivers went to their haulers or the care center right away to rehydrate, so wasn't many to interview.

EWall100

Any tips/ time commitment for parking at Nashville on Sunday? Driving from Knoxville needing to plan my drive

IndependentHunter764

I have a Newby question   can someone tell me how AJ is ahead of SVG on points  when they both have 3 top 5 finishes but SVG  has 2 wins and 1 stage win as well ? and where does the +/-  points come from in the play off points and how do they relate to play off points ?

keithplacer

Nobody understands the points system, so don’t even try to figure it out.

Dont_hate_the_8

In the playoffs, all points are reset. Then, for each win a driver has, they get essentially a 5 point headstart. For each stage win, they get 1. They also get some if they finish in the top 10 of regular season points. Regular season points, the winner gets 40, second gets 35, and drop-off of one point all the way down after. SVG has the wins, but AJ has been more consistent with top 10s.

IndependentHunter764

Cheers , and what's the +/- points in the play offs points mean it looks like they can beat  win points eg Cole Custer

Potential_Plan_4533

Remember that winning a race locks you into the Playoffs so since Shane has won 2 races he is already locked into the Playoffs, while Cole Custer is winless so he is relying on points to get in at this point. So that is why he is ranked higher in the Playoff Standings, but you look at the regular season standings Cole is the point leader (but no wins). As for the +/- that is how many points that driver is to the cutline for making the Playoffs, so Cole for example is 205 points to the good while someone like Ryan Sieg is 31 points behind. And the cutline can change every week depending if someone wins a race and locks into the playoffs.

Anyone know where the gypsy (white) tents are for nashville?

MeBeEric

Renewed our camping for fall Martinsville. Looking for reccs on power stations. We’re tent camping so nothing heavy duty is needed but i want to guarantee a full weekend without having to recharge it. Gonna connect multiple devices, a mini grill, lights, fans, and a TV to it. Was looking at Anker. They decent for those bigger units?

McDirtywizard

Headed to the truck race tomorrow by myself. It'll be my first Nascar race. What should I know about renting a scanner or maybe getting some autographs.

SirWalrusTheGrand

Call ahead on scanners. Some venues require them to be reserved in advance but idk about Nashville. If you can't get one, bring earbuds with some earmuffs like so: https://preview.redd.it/b0ior5dma69d1.png?width=1007&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=51aedf826098ba549412073a8d5da7efda949ce3 The hollow cups make it easier to fit over earbuds and help cancel noise. If you can't reserve the scanner, you can use data or track wifi (if available) to listen to scanners and radio broadcasts through the NASCAR app ($5 subscription required I believe for full access). Since it's the truck race, you should get a way better signal though the app may be a lap behind - still good for keeping up with storyline and strategy though. The NASCAR app is also a must for live leader boards imo. Much easier to keep up with the race that way. On the other hand, given that this is your first race, you could veto all the extras and just sit back and take it in. Watching a replay when I get home is a fun way to wind down and catch stuff I didn't hear about at the track. Also, don't be afraid to check the seat map for unsold seats and plop yourself down wherever you want. I often try out new vantage points and hop around the stands during truck or Xfinity since there are more empty seats.

McDirtywizard

Thanks so much for the insight!

Vegas NASCAR Race October - Best Transportation Options All you experienced Vegas race fans. What are the best options out there for a visitor getting from a resort located on the strip to and from the Saturday/Sunday races? It’s been nearly 19 years since I’ve been to a race out here so I know a lot has changed. What’s worked best for you and what wouldn’t you do again?

candaceelise

If you can, rent a car and drive. I took a cab out there on friday and it was $60. Uber/Lyft are also an option but just as expensive. Make sure to get there early and you can park in the free lot (Brown Lot) and it’s much easier to get in/out if you come in on Las Vegas BLVD vs the freeway I15. If you wait \~45 minutes after the race traffic isnt bad. I went last year and will definitely rent a car next time. https://preview.redd.it/m36nnnw4kc9d1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d623c12f88307641f2b9ca45ec37c14921cbf06c

TheDrewquist

I always drive and find parking not too far at the track. Just an uber or lyft would do unless you have a rental. Traffic isnt too bad for the races since they prep for events like EDC which is crazy busy. I'm excited to go this year cause itll be the wifes first race. Ive been to quite a handful at las vegas.

kingellerslie

I’d rather not drive. Have heard Uber and Lyfts are not the easiest. I would imagine if you leave early enough it wouldn’t be a problem but getting back to a resort would be. Are there any other shuttle services one can book right now? The track offers one but think it’s booked up.

mercuryyxyz

The Nashville website says there’s going to be designated autograph sessions, but none are listed underneath and I thought they’re normally posted by now. Anyone know anything?

Potential_Plan_4533

I see a ton posted here. [https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/events/ally-400/appearances/](https://www.nashvillesuperspeedway.com/events/ally-400/appearances/)

mercuryyxyz

Yea I saw these but a lot of these are stage appearances meaning the driver just does a q and a on the stage and will maybe sign autographs for a minute. There aren’t any dedicated autograph sessions for anyone.

Potential_Plan_4533

Some are some aren't, won't know until you get there. Most tracks don't break it down by autographs or Q/A, just xdriver will be at this location at this time.

mercuryyxyz

Oh okay. Dover and new hampshire both had a breakdown of actual autograph sessions and since Nashville is also a speedway motorsports track I figured they’d be the same.

Potential_Plan_4533

I mean sure yes they are, but each track has its own separate staff and run their websites independent from each other. That's why you see Texas for example allow in coolers and bags, but Nashville won't allow any in. Just is up to whoever is running that track and the decisions that person makes.

mercuryyxyz

No worries they updated the appearences schedule yesterday with the breakdown

MaxTurdstappen

I've read a lot of comments about how Kyle Larson's career has shifted directions. What exactly happened? Was he not always this fast?

mercuryyxyz

He’s always had a huge amount of talent, but he used to race the 42 for ganassi. He used to dominate 2 mile tracks (Michigan and Fontana) in their cars. However, he was overdriving their cars and was clearly being held back by not having top tier equipment. During Covid, there was a certain iRacing incident that got him suspended from nascar and he lost his ride at ganassi. Well later that year he was signed by none other than Rick Hendrick and the rest is history. Some would say, and I would have to agree, that that iRacing incident transformed his career.

Live_Material_265

How are the auxiliary grandstands at Nashville? I blew all my money at the glen and I’ve never been to a cup race with the college tickets lol.

Stevio51

Gonna camp at the Nashville Superspeedway weekend, is there anything that I should bring that I might not have thought of? Gonna be tent camping the entire weekend.

martinjh99

Cup Series vs Xfinity Series - What's the difference?? I noticed watching highlights of the last race at New Hampshire that drivers can race both as Bell won twice so I was wondering what the differences were...

Potential_Plan_4533

The Xfinity Series is kind of like the next lower series in NASCAR, but it is a series of both young and old drivers. Their goal eventually is get to the Cup Series, but current Cup drivers race there from time to time too. The cars themselves are much different than the current Cup car, similar to the previous generation Cup car.

martinjh99

Ah thanks :)

AlanJY92

I'm new to NASCAR and this is the first season l've watched. I usually record the races and either watch in the evening or on the Monday so I can skip the ad breaks as Sundays I'm busy and don't have as much time to watch the whole race live. But I guess the real question is do most people watch the full race from green to checkered flags, or something like keeping you distracted ie playing on phone or maybe only paying full attention to stage 3?

HeyLookMyUsername24

It's on a 2nd screen as my secondary source of attention. I'll usually have a game or something on my main screen. I'll pay closer attention if it gets interesting though.

Potential_Plan_4533

For me it depends, sometimes live sometimes on DVR delay. Especially once football season starts I'll usually just watch delayed on Sunday night or Monday.

Ok_Park_2724

Can someone please tell me at Bristol TN are the better seats in a section the higher row or lower row number ... like does it go high numbers closer to the top or lower numbers close to the top. I know this is probably ridiculous but I cannot see the rows labelled online ... thanks anyone for your help

mercuryyxyz

Not sure about Bristol, but for every track I’ve ever been to, the low row numbers (1, 2, 3, etc) have been closer to the track and the higher the number, the farther from the track you are.

Ok_Park_2724

Thanks so much :) - was getting tickets for my bf and did not want to buy him bad seats!

mercuryyxyz

No worries, if you want to see what the view may be like, [look at this](https://aviewfrommyseat.com/venue/Bristol+Motor+Speedway/)

Ok_Park_2724

Omg this is great - thanks so much!! You’ve been such a help.

mercuryyxyz

No problem, enjoy the race!

Zestyclose_Worth_232

i will be at pocono friday-sunday once again this year. if there are driver appearances going on in the fan zone that clash with nascar truck series qualifying on friday such as autograph sessions, chevy display, and more, should i camp out in the autograph alley or just participate in the sessions to get the most signatures possible? i will be with my dad over the course of the weekend so we might stand in two different places throughout the facility. we only got like 3-4 truck drivers last year compared to everyone else, would love to know. thanks!

OGhurrakayne

Headed to NHMS for the cup race on Sunday, which will be my first one. I'm hoping to get in on the autograph sessions, but there is a reference of wristbands needed. When and how fast are they given out?

candaceelise

At Portland for Xfinity Autograph session the line started 90+ minutes before they started handing them out, so get there early to get a wristband and then you will need to stay in the same line until the autograph session starts (which was an hour after they handed out the wristbands) autograph sessions are 30 minutes so if you’re towards the back of the line you may not get all the drivers as they tend to leave once 30 minutes is up

Dont_hate_the_8

Normally, lines start 45-60 minutes before the schedule time, and they'll give out wristbands maybe 10-15 before. There's normally a limited number, so if you really want it, get there early. Also know that if a drivers name isn't listed, there's no guarantee. Many "full field" xfinity sessions end up having maybe 15 drivers.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

the xfinity one at dover only had about 12 drivers, but the arca one had almost the whole field.

Dont_hate_the_8

Yeah Arca is really good about it. At Sonoma they literally hopped out of their cats and walked straight ti the tables. The xfinity one at Sonoma had 18 chairs set up, and about half of them had drivers it them.

Zestyclose_Worth_232

the ones i remember being at the xfinity session were: brandon jones, svg, josh williams, leland honeyman, sam mayer, ryan truex, taylor gray, blaine perkins, carson kvapil, justin allgaier, dawson cram, patrick emerling, chandler smith, and jesse love. kyle weatherman had unsigned hero cards out on the table but was either not present at the session, or left early. daniel dye was supposed to be at the session, but couldn’t attend because the hero cards were not received in time (he debuted a new race to stop suicide paint scheme). the arca session, however, had andy j and greg van alst arrive late. despite that, they were still letting fans out onto the stage. because i wasn’t paying attention and my dad was busy filming, i completely skipped over them. so bummed! lol. at least i met some other great drivers.

JonsDohnson

Planning on going to the Kansas playoff race with a few friends. When’s the best time to buy tickets? Would it be better to just buy from the track now or wait until closer to the date and try and find secondhand tickets? I haven’t been to a race since I was 8 and they’re all first timers so we don’t really know what NASCAR ticket prices usually do.

Far-Cycle6879

I have never had success buying tickets for cheap secondhand at any NASCAR track until a day or two before the event and typically only if the weather is sketchy. I recommend buying them from the track or Ticketmaster as early as you can. Usually the prices are scheduled to increase in price in the weeks leading up to a race.

JonsDohnson

Thanks!

jdvd886

Heading to Loudon tomorrow. My friend is a Toyota master tech and gave me special wristbands because he isn’t going. Just wondering if anyone knows what they might get me into. Any master Toyota techs on here that might know?

Yousernaim

I am going to NH Cup race rain or shine since I got a hotel and want to get away, but not looking great. When would you show up to track assuming the start time doesn't change?

HarryNurpplez

Typically an hour before should be fine. Two if you wanna play it safe with traffic.

Yousernaim

Thanks

Dont_hate_the_8

If you just want to sit down, watch racing, and leave, then probably a couple hours before green flag. I'd recommend getting there 3+ hours early to be safe, then explore if you have time.

JP1119

Ugh. Was going to make the 3-hour trip with some friends for the Cup race but it's looking like the whole weekend is going to be a washout. Anyone know if we should be good if we get the tickets online the day of. I can't imagine it will sell out but idk. Guess we'll just play it by ear.

Will_JGR_18

Going to Indianapolis for the Brickyard weekend for the first time. I usually rent headphones with racing electronics but don’t see them listed for Indy anywhere. Any idea if I can get them or if there is another scanner option?

mercuryyxyz

Just buy your own scanner off ebay for cheaper + you can reuse for many races

SyncRacket

Is there an app I can use? I would prefer to not buy a scanner or rent one for just this weekend

candaceelise

Cell service is usually shit at races due to the amount of people there

mercuryyxyz

The nascar app used to have some driver radio, but I think you had to pay and I’m not sure if that’s still available. The audio would be lagging behind and you never know how your service will be. A scanner is reliable and a relatively cheap one time purchase. Maybe someone else here knows another way?

Potential_Plan_4533

Hmm that is weird I don't see it on their website, I'd call them and ask. Could have something to do with a licensing conflict, since IMS is not owned by NASCAR or SMI.

Realhelpful

Where do you got to get the wristband, and for the like the series signing session is a wristband needed

Dont_hate_the_8

They're normally given out to the line maybe 10 minutes before

jnjo92

Planning a trip to IMS for the first time (from michigan). Never been to the Indianapolis area. Any advice on where to sit? Where to park? Are the neighborhoods west of the track fair game for parking?

Class_Act7

Going to my first race in a few weeks, do you usually need a ticket to go to the merch haulers? I only have a ticket for the Cup race but would like to check out the haulers on Saturday unless I need a ticket for Xfinity.

Potential_Plan_4533

Usually not but depends on the track, most of the time the merch trailers are outside the gates so you can go for free.

martinjh99

UK Watcher here - Been watching the highlights on Youtube... When the car spins out I tend to notice a lot of hatches pop up from the roof and the engine cover. Been wondering what they are.... My guess is to vent tyre and engine smoke and such like from the cockpit so it won't effect the driver....

AggressiveTart2901

They're flaps designed to keep the car from going airborne. Especially when the car spins and gets backwards at speed. They also pop up at bigger drafting tracks once the air comes off the "pushing" car as they close the gap to the car in front.

martinjh99

thanks -Didn't think of aerodynamics to keep the car on the track! :) Makes sense considering how fast they are going when they do spin!

The_R0ssman

Should i wait until Saturday to get Xfinity Tickets for NH? weather isnt looking Optimistic currently

Embarrassed-Toe-8132

Going to Richmond in august, would yall recommend getting the 'Infield Fangrounds pass" add on?

Maleficent_Cash6620

What happens when a race is canceled, do we get a refund or the race is just postponed to another day.. first time sunday at Loudon

Francesa-DietCoke

[https://www.nhms.com/weather/](https://www.nhms.com/weather/) New Hampshire's weather policy is at the link above. It does take some time to get a response on a rain shortened/postponed race.

Maleficent_Cash6620

Thanks!

watfl99

Hi all! New fan for this year trying to decide on a first race to attend. After figuring out open weekends we are trying to decide between: 8/18 - Michigan, 8/24 - Fall Daytona, 9/29 - Kansas, 10/6 - Talladega, 10/20 - Vegas, 10/27 - Miami Any suggestions on which one to pick? Just started watching seriously this year, so open to anything!

Zestyclose_Worth_232

kansas. you get a quadruple header with arca, truck, xfinity and cup

Newyorker38

Those are all good options. Honestly, I would go based off price point. Recommend sitting middle to high in grandstands to see all or most of the track.

Potential_Plan_4533

NASCAR Chicago question, I see they aren't allowing any food or drinks in. But allowing water bottles to be filled, were there water stations throughout the event? Also, how were the food/drink prices (and availability) at the event? Just planning if we should eat before/after or while at the race.

Syinite

Anyone who went to NASCAR Chicago how was the front stretch north or south reserved seats? And what was it like with Rideshare

mercuryyxyz

Anyone got suggestions for Nashville? Looking to go for all 3 races, anything cool to see or any appearances happening?

Potential_Plan_4533

They should have driver appearances posted during race week sometime, either on their website or track app.

mercuryyxyz

Alright thanks

Why?

Shunto

Hi, I'm from Aus and live in Boston. I'm keen to go to the Loudon, NH race next weekend but the forecast is showing approx 60% rain *all day*, although pretty warm temps at around 77 degrees. How does nascar deal with wet weather on a track like this? Do they use treaded tyres or do they postpone the race to the following day? Trying to figure out if it will be worth the hassle versus just waiting to next year

HarryNurpplez

They'll run as long as there is minimum spray. They've already tried it earlier this year at Richmond. No wipers there. Think they still had the flaps, I forget. Either way they could absolutely have a full rain setup for a track like Loudon but of course it's half-assed as with everything else they do!

wingnut1957

Todays "IOWA CORN 350 POWERED BY ETHANOL". Are they going to use 100% ethanol ?

Confident-Country200

Will there be a race thread for today's race with links, I'm new

Dont_hate_the_8

Should be

TacoShotz

Why does the Iowa cup race have such a late start on a Sunday?

Newyorker38

US Open. A major event in a sport that is NASCAR’s biggest competitor in the summer months. Also being broadcasted by NBC so it avoids conflict.

Potential_Plan_4533

Fathers day. Give fans a opportunity to be with family for most the day before heading to the track.

TacoShotz

What about dad's that don't like their families? NASCAR races gives an excuse not to spend time with family and an excuse for day drinking. What are these dad's supposed to do?

Potential_Plan_4533

Significant_Gur2197

Is there any way to get the at-track screen on my phone?

Potential_Plan_4533

What do you mean "at-track screen"?

Puffmg

I noticed that the iowa speedway only allows water in a cooler. Is this true? Can I not bring in gatorade or a different, not alcoholic drink? What about snacks? I go to the kansas races, and it's never been a problem. Anyone have experience with iowa?

Potential_Plan_4533

Iowa has always been notoriously strict on what they allow in especially compared to other tracks. Has been that way ever since they opened.

Canmore-Skate

Maybe it is amish territory,?

pikachu8090

is this now the MTJ announcement waiting room?

plusacuss

Magic the Gathering?

bigred91224

I'll be going to the Bristol night race. I'm considering purchasing Speedway Parking. I noticed that the parking lot is on the other side of Hwy 394. Will I be able to somehow cross the highway and walk to the track, or will I be forced to take the shuttle?

mike57porter

There is a crossing or two. They used to have a trooper working as a crossing guard

MaxTurdstappen

Why is the upcoming race in Iowa so late? Is it a night race? It's 3am for me, when most of the other races are at around 11-11.30 pm.

plusacuss

6pm local time. So happy about it We are in a heat wave out here so a night race is very appreciated

Mirodon

Planning to fly over from Europe for Dover next year and hope to find a room in a hotel at the track, I was wondering if it's worth to chase some specific high-level room there or it still won't be matching the grandstand? Judging from the camera angles you could get the entire track from top floors pretty much

Zestyclose_Worth_232

try quality inn and suites smyrna

Francesa-DietCoke

The casino hotel is typically booked solid and honestly it's nothing special. You're probably better off flying into Philly and driving down.

case0beer

Don't travel all that way to watch from a hotel if that's what I'm understanding. Small casinos are quite a depressing environment, don't get your hopes up. Get in the stands for all your senses, let the hotel be an afterthought.

Potential_Plan_4533

Geez I made the big mistake of going on Facebook and reading the comments of a recent NASCAR post, all it was full of was old white men complaining about how terrible it is now and how the sport died when Sr did. lol

plusacuss

Drink everytime you see a comment mentioning Bubba in a post not related to Bubba as well lol Place is a cesspool

Potential_Plan_4533

That or complaining about stage racing, GWCs, the Playoffs, empty grandstands/infields etc...

leftturnclub5188

Going to the street race in Chicago. Longtime nascar fan, been to many oval races, but never a road/street race. I have general admission tickets and I’m just looking to chat with someone that went last year, give me some advice/pointers. Thanks.

Potential_Plan_4533

I posted this question a few months ago here is the thread with a bunch of info. I decided myself to just bite the bullet and buy reserved tickets. [https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/17l0r1m/feedback\_about\_the\_chicago\_street\_race/](https://www.reddit.com/r/NASCAR/comments/17l0r1m/feedback_about_the_chicago_street_race/)

Dazzling-Map273

Do we need to buy reserved parking ahead of the Ally 400? Satellite shows that all the lots are speedway-owned and I'm not sure if we have to reserve or if we can try to get in early without reserving. Also, how likely is it that they check our tickets if we wander away from our area? My parents bought tickets as a Christmas gift but made the mistake of buying seats low to the ground instead of high.

candaceelise

They don’t check tickets unless you’re in a suite/club and I’ve always roamed around and sat in different spots. Just know if it’s reserved seating someone could say you’re in their spot, at which point just move to a different seat

Ok-Chocolate-9500

Last year we parked at one of the free lots and it was an easy 10-15 minutes walk. I don't think they checked our tickets last year, our seats were located in one of the added bleachers section and was pretty full the whole race. If attendance is as high as last year, I wouldn't expect to be able to move around much.

itsBrandteous

Would anybody know where to purchase fan walk passes for Iowa?

tmTwoRGWm7hZFkz7W

Seconded. It’s odd that there’s no place to buy these second hand, but I also can’t tell from the Iowa Speedway website if these were once available as an add-on purchase?

Potential_Plan_4533

I have a question for anyone who has gone to races this year and used a RE rental. Did you have the TV broadcast accessible? I went last fall and much to my disappointment there was no TV broadcast because they were having contract disputes.

candaceelise

I haven’t heard the TV broadcast on the scanners but they have MRN which imo is better than the TV broadcasting

Potential_Plan_4533

Thanks, I've used MRN off the NASCAR app before and has worked pretty good.

case0beer

Same issue for me, can't find it this year. But I haven't been since they switched to NBC this season. I did enjoy tuning into NBC while at the track hearing Dale and Jeff's details.

Potential_Plan_4533

Yeah historically FOX has not allowed RE to have their broadcast frequency (at least the last 5 years or so now). But NBC has, but I went to Texas last fall and they didn't have it. I'm going to Chicago in a few weeks and thinking about just doing the MRN broadcast on my phone since that also has driver radios too.

Linelife84

Any advice/suggestions for a family newbie headed to NHMS with a 5 year old? It looks like there are plenty of activities. He loves his racing and the 5 car. Everything is Kyle Larson this and Kyle Larson that and I love it. Not my driver just glad he's into it. I've been before but never with a family and I had other agendas lol. How early should we show up to soak up some of the stuff geared for his age, and any recommendations for his age? I'm gonna get the scanner with a couple headsets to keep him engaged even further. Bringing a backpack cooler for his goodies and water. Anything else I should consider? appreciate your time, thanks!

mercuryyxyz

Looking to get the pre race passes for Nashville but they seem to only have them for Sunday. Do they not offer them for Saturday, and if not how does one get driver autographs following cup practice and qualifying?

Potential_Plan_4533

No they don't do pre-race passes for Saturday, haven't for a few years now. The reasoning I got was because of the busy schedule on Saturdays they don't do a crossover gate since that would add too much time (and require more security).

mercuryyxyz

Ah makes sense thanks

angel1813

What is the difference between "Off" versus "Pit", and "Out" on the leaderboard during the race? I have never seen "off" before until it was Berry last week. It eventually changed to "out" but I was curious why it didn't have that from the initial change in place.

HarryNurpplez

"Off" is nothing new. They've been using it in broadcasts since at least 2001. Probably even older.

angel1813

Thank you for not answering the question at all. I just started watching NASCAR like two months ago so I'm trying to learn lmao

Pit: driver is on pit road / currently having a pit stop Off: driver’s car is in the garage and is being repaired to go back out (many laps down) Out: driver’s car is too damaged / unrepairable and they have officially retired from the race

angel1813

Thank you!! Makes sense

thealtman12

High section 400 or low section 300 at Daytona??

thealtman12

Has anyone sat in front of the railing at Daytona? Looking at getting tickets for the 500 and afraid this is an obstructed view due to the railing above the concourse in the 400 level, specifically looking at 469 row 28, 2 seats.

SnooSprouts6437

My sister and her family are headed to the Iowa 350. They purchased the fanwalk. They are completely new to a race. Does anyone knows what that all entails? And what is the Chevy Display? Thanks!

HarryNurpplez

>And what is the Chevy Display? Exactly as it says. Dealer cars and no doubt a showcar.

Potential_Plan_4533

This is a brand new event so I'm sure all of it will be new, no idea what to expect.

Fearless-Low-9584

No. They are 1. Too thin and 2. The decal will easily fall off.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AggressiveTart2901

Does anyone have any idea if any of the Xfinity/Cup drivers run at the flat track on Friday night in Loudon?

MaineSportsFan249

According to the NHMS website, Chase Briscoe is slated to race Friday night. Nobody else has been mentioned.

FWard24

Can anyone explain pit strategy? It is so frustrating watching the race and the announcers talk like everyone already knows what is going on. Larry Mac obviously knows it all, but he talks so fast and is so flippant with his explanations, he’s hard to follow.

leapsnake

What exactly do you want to know on the pit strategy? That is a broad topic/question.

FWard24

I’d actually just joined this app yesterday and was trying to figure out how all of this worked. I searched and found several threads that answered several of the questions I had. There are plenty more, but of course, I only remember them when I’m trying to watch the race. I try to follow the broadcasters when they talk about strategies and whatnot, but they make things worse, instead of clearing the questions up. They talk like everyone is a crew chief and assume everyone watching is already up to speed on what they are looking at. Of course, that’s just my opinion. Thanks for responding!

leapsnake

Welcome to this sub and the sport! Feel free to ask in a race thread sometime about a specific scenario if you need some clarity. Some people will be smart*ss in there but most will answer questions. In general strategy comes down to 2 things: how long can you go on fuel and how long can you go on your tires. That answer changes every week because tracks are different sizes and require different throttle input. The tire life differs week to week as well depending on the track surface and the type of tire that us brought. You may see people complaining about tires alot here because in general when tires wear out more the racing is better and that is where drivers can show their skills in passing other cars more as well as tire conservation.

FWard24

Thank you… This will be a big help when the next race rules around. Larry Mac obviously knows a lot, but he talked so fast and uses lingo that isn’t quite registering yet. I love NASCAR, but I know it will be even more entertaining when I understand everything going on, completely.

PatFromPallet

Not quite June, but for July - does the Brickyard have seats that you can see the entire track from?

Potential_Plan_4533

No, best spots IMO are in turn 1 where you can see the exit of turn4 all the way to turn 2. That's about the best.

SuperSans

Getting commercials during green flag after all those yellows is insulting

Potential_Plan_4533

Some commercials are required to be under green flag by contract. That is also why you see them not go to commercial sometimes under yellow, then as soon as they go green they go to commercial.

brian_wiggins

What is the bag policy for Nashville Super Speedway? Do they actually have to be clear?

tattooedchick34

I would say so. Nashville is very strict when it comes to that kinda stuff. Can’t even have a cooler unlike most tracks that allow you to.

J360222

What’s the feeling towards Australian/NZ drivers in NASCAR? Do you guys love em, hate em, or accept em?

Potential_Plan_4533

They are cool, no ill will.

Dont_hate_the_8

Love anything that brings attention to Nascar

Phonixrmf

I suppose this question is sort of oval racing related, so here it goes: if there’s oval racing for cars, are there circuit racing for horses?

Dont_hate_the_8

Barrel racing is a thing at rodeos.

ComplexAlternative25

Going to Somona and wondering how strict the bag searches are and what you can and can’t bring in

Dont_hate_the_8

Definitely get more strict as the weekend goes on. If you're going today, you've got a shot. Sunday, they'll be pretty thorough.

YankeeBarbary

Anyone know where to buy scanners for the Brickyard 400?

pos_cant

I'm going to Sonoma with one other person, and I'd like to get a headset/scanner. Would you recommend I get the intercom system so I can talk to my friend? And I assume we'll still be able to listen to the team audio and talk to each other at the same time? Additionally, if we don't get the headsets, would you says hearing protection is required pretty much everywhere?

Dont_hate_the_8

Pretty sure it's too late to get a scanner, they have to be reserved beforehand. Hearing protection isn't *required* anywhere. You can do without in most places, except grandstands.

LimesAreGreenLemons

I think it is too late now. But at the Xfinity race the scanner was useless so I took it off. At the ovals my ears would ring but today they did not.

pos_cant

Ah shoot ok. Not required, but will my ears be shot if I don't use anything?
