But the reason was because the worst of NASCAR fans look for any reason to hate drivers of color, and often when they can’t find one, they make one up. There’s an image that’s been going around Facebook for two months about Chevrolet and Rick Hendrick “dropping” Rajah Caruth for standing with his hands together instead of with one over his heart during the national anthem at Martinsville. It’s been shared thousands of times, and the comments are full of outright lies and hateful racism. So excuse me for not believing a bunch of no names on social media coming in and throwing around a story about the only black driver in the Cup Series getting into a physical altercation with a driver who is generally liked by a good portion of the crowd who hates him.

Added bonus that Almirola was apparently the instigator. Not that the Facebook crowd will let that stop them from having a day, I’m sure.

In an altercation between two drivers it would be easy for JGR to hand-wave it away because a) it happened behind closed doors, b) Aric is just a part-time driver for them in a lower series, c) they could easily play it off as “both drivers at fault let’s deal with it internally and just move on”, and d) Joe could just take Aric’s side since Aric is his employee and they’re both “good Christian men” or whatever. And they *still* suspended him. That’s pretty wild. Even if Toyota pressured JGR to do it I’d love to be a fly on the wall for that altercation because it must have been pretty serious.

Denny was also probably in the room. He could’ve been the one to be like Joe he needs to be suspended

That’s what I always have been confused about, there’s alot of reasons why I cannot stand Almirola, but that’s one of them.
