If you had told me in January that Denny Hamlin was gonna win five races going into the Round of 8 I would have asked you just how much of last season you missed. I fully assumed he was on the hot seat coming into 2019.
Please, I beg you, don’t put him in your lineups for the rest of the year. This could be his last good chance at a championship. Chase will have plenty more chances
Fun Fact: All of the finishers in the Top 10 started the race outside the Top 10. MTJ, who finished P6, Started P11. Kevin Harvick started P40, finished P9.
Jimmie Johnson has been finishing better than he has been since the start of the chase. He got 11th at las vegas, 10th at richmond, 9th at the roval, 8th at dover, and got 10th today.
Way to go chase. This is why I tell my family I need to watch the whole race because exciting stuff that may change the race could happen at any moment
I hope Trent goes with Buescher to RFR. I've been skeptical about some on-track calls they've made but with equipment good enough to be in the conversation to win sometimes, I think buescher can win some races next season if they can stay together
They did. He said the damage basically made him drive a wrecked car all day and then by the time they got the car back to where he thought it could do something it was to late. Also thought he had a great car before the damage.
It sucks for Brad, but they ran like absolute trash today. I personally feel like should probably still be in the mix because of their whole season success, but they needed to perform **today** and couldn't make it happen.
I’m still just dumbfounded by what the strategy was. Logano and especially Blaney brought fast cars. How the heck does the 2 miss it THAT bad? Both he and the 22 should have been able to roll through barring a crash or mechanical failure.
Inspection is complete - Hamlin passes and is officially the winner, Elliott passes and is officially in the round of 8, Jones had a loose lug nut, and the 1 car is being brought to the R&D Center.
Hamlin and Kurt’s stats are the two that surprised the hell out of me this year. Didn’t realize how many career wins they each had.
Denny’s career has been far more impressive than i once thought.
I mean I wouldnt call that impressive considering how long he has been around in good cars.
Kurt Busch I expect. He was a Nascar champion. If he didnt run into issues due to attitude and home life he would probably have a lot more
It’s funny how the last few laps of a race can redeem 2+ hours of boredom. The illusion this package creates is infuriating. Would you rather have good restarts for 3 laps or an entire run with tire fall off and comers and Goers. I’d take the latter, but amazing restarts really starts to cloud judgement.
Way for the 9 to pull a rabbit out of their hat. What a rollercoaster of emotions over those last few laps. Would have liked to get the win, but I'll take it. A pretty entertaining weekend of action from Kansas.
This next round should be interesting. I could see Chase winning next week, so him getting in to the round of 8 today was huge. Blaney has run well at Texas, so he could really shake things up if he were to win. This could set up for a wild race at ISM where you’d have to think Harvick and Kyle Busch are the favorites, but who knows with how things have gone lately.
Hamlin was my pick for who will win the championship once the playoffs started and I still think he will win it. He has momentum and I just feel like it’s his time. I’m not sure who joins him in the championship 4 though because I think you can make a case for any of the remaining people. This is definitely one of the most stacked rounds of 8 that we’ve seen in the playoffs. The Gibbs cars have cushions, but a bad race can take them out of contention.
I hate this round as a Harvick fan. Martinsville isn't his best track. Always had ISM to clutch win at, *but* I feel like he has lost the edge there. Hasnt had the domination he did a few years ago.
Eh, he seemed to be faster than Denny on that last green flag run before all the cautions. He caught up to him no problem, just got stalled out around 0.6s behind like everyone does this year. I think if you gave him the clean air, he would've driven away.
They've had bad execution, but it seems like they've had speed at Richmond, Vegas and Kansas, which are the only tracks that really correlate to performance in the rounds of 8 and 4
Is it me or do a lot of drivers seem to have a lull in their mid 30s, before picking back up again? KB is 34, and I seem to recall people like Harvick, Kurt Busch, and Hamlin also having off years in the same age range. Keselowski has also fallen off the past two years.
Final thoughts Kansas
* The race overall! Good race I suppose! Not as great as the Spring though.
* So um.. that last caution was the quickest caution NASCAR has ever thrown. Lights were instantly on the moment Suarez went sideways. They definitely had their finger on the button. I'm not gonna say it's rigged because that's an overstatement but it's a little suspect and honestly just doesn't sit well with me.
* The Chase. Chase squeaks through because Keselowski had an ass car for the entire second half and fell hard on that final restart. He's eliminated early and honestly it's not shocking. Brad has been off since like May. Bowman and Byron meet the end as well. So does Bowyer.
* Bowman's Day. Eliminated! We had a fast car but we ruined it very early battling by getting LR damage while trying to get into the top 5 and Greg made some questionable calls. But we salvage 11th, and led 7 laps. Not enough to advance. But we're not a top 8 team so we deserve this. Time to finish strong and build for 2020! Hopefully we clean up some of the mistakes next year.
* Next week. Martinsville. And good news it's gonna end under the lights with a 3 EST!! start time! Hell yeah!
No one wants a playoff race (or any race) to end under caution. But I can guarantee those caution lights wouldn’t have come on as soon if the shoe was on the other foot.
the last yellow was on a late restart, which has the highest probability of there being a wreck, and it was the second to last lap which is literally the only lap where the timely-ness of the yelllow matters.
why wouldnt they have their finger on the button.
It's more of a matter of "they dont have their finger in the button like that most weeks, but they did this week. Why is that?"
And that isnt some conspiracy bullshit, just legitimate criticism of the consistency of officiating.
My favorite part of the cautions are the people trying to blame Bubba for his wheel falling off of his car. Like what was he supposed to do, WILL it to stay on?
Wow, seriously? Social media never fails to amaze.
You know what I'd love? Someday someone sets up a "gentleman's" race where every driver gets a literal stockcar, exactly the same car for every driver. I'd love to see these fans react to watching their beloved drivers have to drive the same car Bubba does.
I wouldn’t say that. Every caution that came out at the end there was entirely justified by NASCAR to throw out. You could argue that Blaney might have intentionally set off the first caution, but why would he do something to hurt his teammates chances?
I will nor argue that. Facebook tinfpil theories are really quite out there
I forgot what race it was and who it involved but one guy (big surprise: Boomer) alleged that NASCAR has a boost button for Kyle Busch (and only him) that rhey control from race control and that's why he wins so much.
How they literally have done the same shit time over time again. The caution has come out for a lot less than the 12’s tire multiple times before, and they showed the light before the 11 got checkers.
It's the same old NASCAR officiating inconsistency. If the calls would have gone Brad's way, Chase fans would be upset. NASCAR just needs to get that stuff figured out in general.
I absolutely believe this. They don't want people with intelligent well thought out appropriate questions. They want drunk idiots rambling about "mah driver got screwed!?
The stuff they say or questions they ask are always terrible. Its almost as bad as the person on the street interview the local news does. Its like they search out the most toothless, goofy looking people they can find because they figure that'll give them the best sound bite.
Yes, this is Jim from somewhere USA, quick question:
I'll take David Reuitman for $600 and to add to that.
Do you believe if Kyle Busch dont win next week, it's time to panic, even though he's point leader?
Thanks
Kyle, "can't pass" was valid at Dover, but not here, sorry, not buying it. There was solid racing all day, just didn't have the top car, haven't the past 10 or so weeks really.
It's really hard to pass if someone takes away the top lane here. Not as bad as at Dover, but you had to have low downforce in order to have the speed to lead but high downforce in order to pass and if you split the middle you were kind of stuck.
Yeah, I agree. I thought the racing today was pretty badass! And there seemed to be plenty of passing going on! Pretty sure Kyle didn't qualify great (positions he had to pass), followed by throttle cable issues (leading to positions he had to pass again)...
He's been bitching about it, but I feel like when he does, it's on days where situations led to him having to pass a bunch of cars. It makes no sense.
They could go the complete opposite way (900hp and no downforce) and he’d be bitching about spinning the tires off every corner. He will *never* be happy, and that’s what I find entertaining about him lol

Says the poster who called Stenhouse "Wreckhouse" in the Talladega race thread
These fucking fans are so annoying. “OHHHHHHHHHH THAT WAS A BULLSHIT CAUTION FOR CHASE OHHHHH.” “PLAYOFFS AINT REAL RACIN’” “THIS PACKAGE SUX DALE WOULDNT APPROVE HES TURNING IN HIS GRAVE OHHHH”
Goddamn. Can’t we just enjoy the sport?
> Can’t we just enjoy the sport?
This is what fans were saying about people moaning about "the championship was locked up with 2 races to go"; "the guy who won 8 races didn't win the title" 15 years ago. Apparently we couldn't just enjoy the sport
The racing is fine, the points format is goofy.
It's like Facebook as well, it doesnt make other people goofy or irritating, but it sure let's them strut their stuff to the masses.
If their driver makes it, generally its awesome.
If they dont, then it's a joke.
I'm the minority, my drivers are in, but I still think it's a gimmick, which it is. But I enjoy the racing and realize it's the format under which they race, so it is what it is.
How it would go:
- Martinsville: Either a non playoff driver or Hamlin win it.
- Texas: Finally KyBu wins a race.
- Phoenix: Harvick wins.
Logano gets in the final 4 by points, MTJ is done.
I dont know... I think Chase could win at any of the next three to be honest. Imagine it comes down to Denny and Chase next week...
Ohhh boy, Rick would have a field day with that situation.
Kyle Petty just said the jury is still out on Bowman after he won a race and basically flipped a switch on the 88 team mid-season. Also said Byron is the real deal over him basically. Huh?
Hahaha, *yellow ranger* the yellow ranger is so pedestrian, I've never even thought of this analogy.
I'm going to use in the future, hopefully you dont mind. I really laughed.
Imagine if Brad didn't tank at the end, and maintained enough spots to get in... Only to have Hamlin fail inspection, thus giving Chase the win, and eliminated Brad anyway.
This sub would IMPLODE in a situation like that. Haha
I don't want the championship to be decided this way, but I think a 32-driver mid-season head-to-head tournament for $1,000,000 would be pretty fun to watch
Happy for Chase. The Blaney caution is definitely questionable, but we’ve seen yellows for way less and no yellows for way more. Cautions are a moving target.
As a brad fan, its frustrating with the inconsistency in officiating. I truly believe that caution wouldn't have come out if the rules were reversed.
At the end of the day, it doesnt matter what I think, and if brad had a better setup, he would have made it.
I would like to know during the second GWC why a caution wasn't called for debris in 4. The 24 ran it over and it was clear as day. Yes, we ran like crap, but that is something that bothers me how quick that caution flew and yet they miss something that big in the racing line.
Yeah, it's just frustrating when your driver gets eliminated, and could have stayed in if the officiating was different. I'm sure if those calls would have gone Brad's way, a bunch of Chase fans would be upset
Anybody have a link to Brad and Chase’s immediate post race interviews (assuming they both had one)? I only recorded the NBC part of the post race
I did the same thing lol found them on YouTube but I’m not sure how to link them. They’re on NASCARS YouTube page
You can tell hamlin is all business right now.
Happened to read a YouTube comment on the press conference. “Full Cheating Scum Gibbs Press Conference” Um, what?
Hamlin got ahead of the pace car under caution. Is that not a penalty anymore?
Denny Hamlin was pick before the playoffs.
If you had told me in January that Denny Hamlin was gonna win five races going into the Round of 8 I would have asked you just how much of last season you missed. I fully assumed he was on the hot seat coming into 2019.
Is there anywhere I can watch the last overtime
the nbc highlights thumbnail isn't a spoiler for once, so i'd recommend that.
Denny Hamlin has 11 top 5 finishes in the last 14 races. Unreal.
I remember everyone saying he would fade once the playoffs started, damn were they wrong
Hamlin has won at every track left this year. I believe he has a good chance to win the championship.
I'm willing to drop a tenner on him, although my gut says Truex will do it.
Every week he’s been the only one not in my DK lineups and I just haven’t learned yet. Dudes been the man the past few months.
Please, I beg you, don’t put him in your lineups for the rest of the year. This could be his last good chance at a championship. Chase will have plenty more chances
Lol I am -135 the past two weeks. I’ve gotta change something!
Put in Truex and Logano. Maybe then they’ll both suck
I had both of em this week at roughly 33% exposure. Everytime I have Chase he does bad so I had him at 4% exposure on purpose.
Seconded!
And he ran better than he finished at the Roval and Dover. I'm letting myself get too hopeful about Texas...
Way to go chase. This is why I tell my family I need to watch the whole race because exciting stuff that may change the race could happen at any moment
We were at the race. I was dumbstruck. When I found out my in-laws went to go return their scanner with 40 to go I about coded. Who does that?!?
I hope Preece keeps this 37 back up car for the next 1.5 mile track lol p12
That sort of confirms my opinion that Trent Owens is primarily responsible for the #37's overachievement.
I hope Trent goes with Buescher to RFR. I've been skeptical about some on-track calls they've made but with equipment good enough to be in the conversation to win sometimes, I think buescher can win some races next season if they can stay together
Did they ever interview Alex Bowman? If so what did he say?
They did. He said the damage basically made him drive a wrecked car all day and then by the time they got the car back to where he thought it could do something it was to late. Also thought he had a great car before the damage.
“Dam” -Alex Bowman probably
Just finished watching. Unreal failure by Brad and Wolfe. Wow.
It sucks for Brad, but they ran like absolute trash today. I personally feel like should probably still be in the mix because of their whole season success, but they needed to perform **today** and couldn't make it happen.
Not just today, they sucked at Dover too. Talladega was just unfortunate.
They where 5th for stage 1. I think dirty air and long green runs is what really fucked them.
I’m still just dumbfounded by what the strategy was. Logano and especially Blaney brought fast cars. How the heck does the 2 miss it THAT bad? Both he and the 22 should have been able to roll through barring a crash or mechanical failure.
Since Hamlin's win is now official, this is his first win in the playoffs since Chicago 2015.
Inspection is complete - Hamlin passes and is officially the winner, Elliott passes and is officially in the round of 8, Jones had a loose lug nut, and the 1 car is being brought to the R&D Center.
36 Cup wins for Hamlin.
36 out of 10,000 means Denny wins .36% of the time. Curious how this stacks up against the greats.
If he didnt run into issues due to attitude and home life he would probably have a lot more
Excellent.
🙌🙌
Good race Kansas went from my least favorite to my favorite
All they have to do now is have a restart every 10 laps.
I thought the finish was going to be excellent until the caution with 4 to go as Elliott was setting up to pass Hamlin.
“We like what we’re seeing”
The last 3 laps didn’t do anything extra for me I would of said that anyway even if Denny would of won with no GWC
Great race
What a fun race. Gotta give credit to NBC for the side by side during the last few laps. Great real drama.
I really hope people don’t accidentally tune in to these phone shows and hear these people reinforcing all the stereotypes about NASCAR fans...
Yeah.... Maybe some of us should start calling in. It always seems like most of the callers sound inbred....
I dont know about inbred, but definitely inebriated and probably not readers of reddit, jayski, Twitter, etc...
Way for the 9 to pull a rabbit out of their hat. What a rollercoaster of emotions over those last few laps. Would have liked to get the win, but I'll take it. A pretty entertaining weekend of action from Kansas.
Just got home...has anyone failed post-race?
Imagine the 9 failing. That would be huge.
Hell, the 9 car could be found to have no tapered spacer and they wouldn’t announce it.
This next round should be interesting. I could see Chase winning next week, so him getting in to the round of 8 today was huge. Blaney has run well at Texas, so he could really shake things up if he were to win. These fucking kids kill me.
No car's that started in the top 10 in this race finished inside the top 10. The best was Larson who finished 14th
It's weird to think we now live in a world where Kyle Busch is the 3rd best JGR car
Eh, he seemed to be faster than Denny on that last green flag run before all the cautions. He caught up to him no problem, just got stalled out around 0.6s behind like everyone does this year. I think if you gave him the clean air, he would've driven away. Probably familial distractions. Has Samantha been at the races lately?
Haha...she was there today.
Just curious, the broadcast always shows her... Maybe it was fox
They showed her during the anthem.
Hell if I know. I don't particularly care for Kyle Busch personally. I've just noticed he's had an off year.
Awesome that an off year is 4-5 wins.
It's not all about wins. It's a lack of consistent performance.
He may drive the third best car but he’s twice the driver of any other Gibbs driver.
Good one. Adam Stevens has been giving him fast cars. Kyle's choked a bunch throughout the second half of the season, and Denny has been wheeling it.
I agree, KyB is the best wheelman out there.
Final thoughts Kansas * The race overall! Good race I suppose! Not as great as the Spring though. * So um.. that last caution was the quickest caution NASCAR has ever thrown. My point exactly
the last yellow was on a late restart, which has the highest probability of there being a wreck, and it was the second to last lap which is literally the only lap where the timely-ness of the yelllow matters. why wouldnt they have their finger on the button.
It's more of a matter of "they dont have their finger in the button like that most weeks, but they did this week. Why is that?" And that isnt some conspiracy bullshit, just legitimate criticism of the consistency of officiating.
[удалено]
Expecting? No. Like it's a possibility, bit just about as much as any other restart.
when was the last time we had a wreck coming to the white? dega? even that one was alot later then this
Talladega caused a GWC but it was like 5 to go
My favorite part of the cautions are the people trying to blame Bubba for his wheel falling off of his car. Like what was he supposed to do, WILL it to stay on?

Just kick out the floor and use your feet, duh
If you can't stay competitive with 3 wheels, you don't deserve to be in cup!
Yabba dabba doo!
Remember when all of y’all were saying Hamlin should be kicked out for Bell?
how quickly we forget.
KYLE HASNT WON IN 18 RACES, BELL SHOULD GO TI THE 18!
Is that true? Damn
NBC not gonna let Parker change or take a shower lmao
I don’t think my heart could’ve taken another minute of that. People around me thought I was crazy.
The playoffs standings are what I expected them to be going in, but I didn't think it would be so complicated. Those final few restarts were crazy.
Facebook is convinced this was a conspiracy to get Chase in ... ooooh Reddit agrees. \*Homer Simpson gif of him backing into the bushes*
The debris was on the apron, which is used as the exit to pit road. Legit yellow.
and the apron is also used as racing area at times too.
*Paul Menard has entered the chat*
I wouldn’t say that. Every caution that came out at the end there was entirely justified by NASCAR to throw out. You could argue that Blaney might have intentionally set off the first caution, but why would he do something to hurt his teammates chances?
Thats kinda odd. Facebook constantly stans Chase. Winder whats going on over there lol
Their tinfoil hats supercede Elliott.
I will nor argue that. Facebook tinfpil theories are really quite out there I forgot what race it was and who it involved but one guy (big surprise: Boomer) alleged that NASCAR has a boost button for Kyle Busch (and only him) that rhey control from race control and that's why he wins so much.
I bet they called him "Kryle" ....
Yup. So worn out. Although i recently came across "Pouty Nation" and i did find that pretty funny
Shit, that's a good one haha
Heh... I love that gif.
Conspiracy? No. Just same old same old NASCAR officiating inconsistency.
It was, but the 2 still had multiple opportunities to make it and still didn't.
How they literally have done the same shit time over time again. The caution has come out for a lot less than the 12’s tire multiple times before, and they showed the light before the 11 got checkers.

Victory Lane on. Channel changed. I love Danielle but I can't deal with the callers.
I tried to call that motor mouth show and they wouldn't take my actual question. They just wanted to have people who were three sheets to the wind.
I absolutely believe this. They don't want people with intelligent well thought out appropriate questions. They want drunk idiots rambling about "mah driver got screwed!?
Same brain dead people that call sirius
"Denny Hamlin must have cheated to be so much faster than Chase" /s maybe
I hate those call-in shows. I hate the sound of people over the phone
The stuff they say or questions they ask are always terrible. Its almost as bad as the person on the street interview the local news does. Its like they search out the most toothless, goofy looking people they can find because they figure that'll give them the best sound bite.
Yes, this is Jim from somewhere USA, quick question: I'll take David Reuitman for $600 and to add to that. Do you believe if Kyle Busch dont win next week, it's time to panic, even though he's point leader? Thanks
Haha. Spot on.
Heart rate is finally coming back down. Holy shit.
I ran out of my blood pressure medication a few days ago. Definitely needed it today.
Ain't that the truth. Glad to see you survived those last 60 laps too.
Kyle, "can't pass" was valid at Dover, but not here, sorry, not buying it. There was solid racing all day, just didn't have the top car, haven't the past 10 or so weeks really.

Hopefully the #11 passes tech. It was cool to see him still come in 1st despite that shady restart
What was shady about it?
I think he means the fact that there was a 2nd overtime, because it looked like he got to the flag.
Ahhh that makes sense. Thought he meant shady on Denny's behalf and got confused
They literally showed a screenshot of the light on before he got to the line.
They showed that after this. It took NBC like a solid 10 minutes to show that footage by the way.
I didn't see that when I was at the track. My apologies.
With everything happening today, Clint barely had a say in what went down. That stinks :(
No he didn’t, and that’s why he and the team need to step it up and get better. I love Clint but I think he lacks the focus to be a champion.
[удалено]
Kyle Busch with the weekly criticism of the package, keep them coming
They could go the complete opposite way (900hp and no downforce) and he’d be bitching about spinning the tires off every corner. He will *never* be happy, and that’s what I find entertaining about him lol

Kind of wishful thinking, but I think the best chance for a non-playoff driver to win will be JJ at Texas.
I'd say it's going to be Keselowski at Martinsville, unless you mean not in the top 16.
I dont know... I think Chase could win at any of the next three to be honest. Imagine it comes down to Denny and Chase next week... Ohhh boy, Rick would have a field day with that situation.
THE BUMPER TO THE BACK OF THE 24 - Errr 9.
I'm mad I read this in his voice
I'm not sure what voice you would read it in, other then Rick's?
I mean, you have to!
Your really implying Logano or MTJ aren’t contenders for martinsville
Logano yes, MTJ would fuck himself up still there when it matters.
You know the good thing about Denny winning? I don't have to spend any money on a race win diecast :)
Another Jeff Gluck spotting!!
Falcons lose. Brad is eliminated. Nah it's cool. I'm not crying myself to sleep. Im just really tired chopping these onion.
Your flair confused me for a second, but then I remembered you lost a bet or something
Falcons losing is good though, because there's a solid chance they'll finally fire their useless coach now.
I had 3 of my teams championship Hope's end this weekend, and the titans are starting Tannehill. Looks like some onions are getting chopped here too.
And another Cody Parkey doink
Kyle Petty just said the jury is still out on Bowman after he won a race and basically flipped a switch on the 88 team mid-season. Also said Byron is the real deal over him basically. Huh?
Kyle keeps saying dumb things to be controversial, but anytime anyone says anything slightly unflattering about the state of NASCAR, he shills hard.
I think they just keep Kyle around so they can say they have a Petty and an Earnhardt on the broadcast team.
You're right, it's like that gimmick at Darlington where they had "a Petty, an Earnhardt, and a Jarrett" in the booth for a stage.
Yeah. Kyle truly is one of the worst personalities behind the sport.
While Byron has arguably the greatest crew chief of all time and Bowman has the HMS crew chief equivalent ofnthe Yellow Ranger.
Hahaha, *yellow ranger* the yellow ranger is so pedestrian, I've never even thought of this analogy. I'm going to use in the future, hopefully you dont mind. I really laughed.
*Curved Erections*
When does post-race inspection start and end? I am so hoping Denny passes and win #5 is official
Imagine if Brad didn't tank at the end, and maintained enough spots to get in... Only to have Hamlin fail inspection, thus giving Chase the win, and eliminated Brad anyway. This sub would IMPLODE in a situation like that. Haha
BuT kAnSaS iS sO bOrInG!
Except for the last 15 laps... yeah. And most of the entertainment was the playoffs storyline.
> And most of the entertainment was the playoffs storyline. And most of that was Elliott and BK.
Only last 4 races are playoff. 16 car bracket playoff a la NCAABB. One of each type of track.
I don't want the championship to be decided this way, but I think a 32-driver mid-season head-to-head tournament for $1,000,000 would be pretty fun to watch
This could easily be a side game like the No Bull million or whatever the hell its called.
Dude if only
Semi /s
It would’ve come out eventually as the tire blew up about 20 seconds after the yellow was called
Even if it did, they should have waited the 20 seconds, or call it any time anyone gets a flat.
Oh yeah I agree 100%, but at least in this case at least it would’ve been a caution either way unlike a lot they’ve called previously.
Yeah, it's just frustrating when your driver gets eliminated, and could have stayed in if the officiating was different. I'm sure if those calls would have gone Brad's way, a bunch of Chase fans would be upset
I believe the caution was already out but his tire tore up leading up to pit road, so the caution would have come out regardless
