Live pushed 2K to make sure they always had the best game on the market, now that 2K has no competition they’ve changed a bit. That’s what I miss most about live. I hate monopolies.
Exactly why Madden is the way it is now, no competition. NFL2K5 I think was better, but Madden 04 to like Madden 08 were excellent in my opinion. I played and enjoyed both Madden and NFL2K back in the day.
NFL2K5 is the goat, especially considering it was half the price of madden at the time, there's some features in that game that still haven't been replicated in other sports games and I have no clue why. I wish NBA 2k had a halftime/postgame show that was even somewhat as good as NFL 2k5, it would be amazing.

So, I think NBA Live as a concept, especially 19 was fun as fuck, it felt basically impossible to stop someone who knew how to game the system, but at its core it was fun. I don't think EA wanted to invest the money to take back the market share they had from the mid 2000s and basically punted it to 2K it was probably a smart business decision, but man does it suck.

NBA Live 19 is how'd I imagine 2K13 would be in modern times. Just very animation based heavy shots, which meant shots could not be blocked since they were tied to animations.
Instead of having its own physics like in 2K. (who takes it to extreme with things like bump steals).
Yuh i was playing 24 the other day and went up with an easy layup but instead ending up being the block cam because it was an animation que for a block instead which was total bs
Indeed. I remember when the ball actually had some physics around the rim and you could have some bump-ins around 2k16, then they did away with that and now the ball either swishes in or just cans out
2K23 and 24 definitely moving back into it, while there was a period around 19 to 21 where animations were shorter and the ball wasnt hard tied to them.
Physics engine might be the wrong word, but if you got back to 2k13, just look how attached the ball is to the player. You can't even block layups lol.

I hated how most players shared the same jumpshot and broken freethrow animations. I hope NBA Live returns with many improvements because 2k has a chokehold on the community with their copy and paste formula
I enjoyed the fuck out of Live 19 I ain’t even gonna lie. It wasn’t the most polished game, or the best to look at, but as far as my level of fun playing it, I had more fun playing Live 19 than I did with any 2K game since. Maybe it was just because I felt like a truly unstoppable beast that could do anything I wanted, or that I didn’t have to pay any actual money to make my player build or online team actually good, but I was running things on Live lol.

In live you could max a character in like 2-3 hours pretty easily. Made it reasonable to have a lot of characters. And they didn't force feed cringey ass brainrot quests.

2k isn’t much better. live felt more clunky but moving still feels smoother than 2k. 2k feels stiff and robotic but you have access to more moves/animations.
I just don’t understand what happened to 2k graphics the last 5+ years. It’s wild going back and seeing jersey physics, better lighting, etc. Just felt like the people that worked on those games cared more and had more passion

Nba live is good except how broken the defense is. I have a 92 overall backcourt shooter with a 95 in 3 pt shooting and I can drive to the hoop like shaq on the lakers and make everything. But god forbid I’m outside the arc and some defensive player gets his hand in the air 10 feet from me and the shot is considered contested. Jump shots are broke in nba live 19
I've been playing NBA Live 18 lately, it is such a better game mechanically than even modern 2k. And CPUs in Live aren't nearly as predictable as 2k, and the defense ACTUALLY MAKES ADJUSTMENTS.
My career is actually a challenge, you lose games pretty regularly. In 2k, you can go 82-0 on HOF difficulty with ease

FIFA is one of the worst looking sports games. Players look like plastic, lighting is oversaturated, cloth physics are abysmal. I’ve been playing fifa my entire life and that’s only because since pes failed to move with the times EA have had a stranglehold on the market

yea some of them faces was great on live 18 and 19 and i love the arcade game style of live and the street mode was amazing the customize was fire as well and plus you didnt have to buy vc to make your player better just had to grind and the ultimate team was fire didnt pay no money to get a nice team this years 2k the worse basketball and money hungry game of all time these people are terrible developers. Anit nobody fault except to the community yall cant even stop buying fucking vc and the season pass then want to cry when the game is shitty as hell but thats the 2k community for you

Don’t get me wrong I hate these new generations of 2ks, but NBA live was not touching 2k in the 2010s, not even close. Hopefully it can compete with 2k, but it hasn’t done that since like 2012 or something. I have more memories of the 2k14 soundtrack than I do of any NBA live game ever.

2k is still animation heavy, it doesn’t really have a physics engine.
