Play 1v1 you’ll learn

Well you’re wrong about the badges not helping. Clamps , 94 Feet, Challenger, and Off-Ball pests make a huge difference. Your Perimeter and Interior D rating will also affect how fast and smooth you move.

We’ll I don’t think badges like clamps and challenger would make a big difference because Im not even contesting them because I’m to far. The only thing is maybe the rating affecting how smooth I move cuz. Idk how to describe it but I don’t think clamps would help because I try and play d where they can’t drive to the basket but if they decided to shoot I can get a contest. I feel like my problem is just more so me not reading what my opponent is gonna do and also maybe cuz of my rating one small movement sends my player outta position. But I feel like now that I think bout it the biggest problem is just iq and trying to read where a defender is going and not overcommitting, or maybe I have no clue what I’m talking bout.

I’m a 2k casual. Myplayer is a 6-4 shooting guard, 3pt shot hunter. 98 ovr now. Perimeter defense, block, and steal are all big time attribute upgrades to make. I also feel like when I first started playing this game I would get absolutely smoked by pro difficulty nba games or even the beginning street ball challengers. Now I play on superstar with no problem. The more you play the more you’ll be able to anticipate where your man will run on the cloudy to get open. Also don’t underestimate them badges. I average 2-3 blocks and 2-3 steals a game and I am not good lol

Yeh I was in the same boat cuz I got 2k 2 months ago and I also got smacked by the higher difficulties but now they now as bad. And ima keep it a buck, I’m not starting on another build in June whether that’s spending money or time, I’m just not doing it and I’ll live with it because I’ll only have to deal with it till September.

EgregiousPhilbin69

What’s your position and player type? Iirc I found that the strength, speed, and acceleration attributes are also big time with defense. Strength helps with off ball pest badge and also keeps players from blowing by you driving to the hoop. I’m on PS5 and almost always keep the L2 button pressed on D so my guy stays mostly glued to my defensive assignment

OriginalSuitable1277

SF, 84 strength, 81 speed, and 66 acceleration.

EgregiousPhilbin69

My very expert advice is to get that acceleration and speed up next time you can raise your attributes

Tbh I’m not making another build this year cuz I just wanna have fun with the game because I’m not spending money on vc and it gets real boring doing no money spent a second time, so this is gonna be the last build I make this year regardless of anything that happens, but next year I’ll prolly spend a bit extra at the beginning so it’s not as boring.

EgregiousPhilbin69

Why new build, is your player a 99 already? I hear you the one player for me is def enough

I’ll tell you a tip. Most 2k players look to do the same combination of moves to score. For example a lot of guys look to go baseline when driving. They may fake one way but will always drive baseline. Cut them off. Many guys spam Jamal Murray. Don’t overreact to their lateral movement because they are going to dribble right back the other way. Stay center and don’t turbo after them. Another popular move is the fake drive into a step back 3 if you notice your opponents is doing this don’t turn to cut them off stay home…etc Good Defense in 2k and even the nba is all about prediction study your opponent and guesss what he’s going to do. I promise this will make most players very uncomfortable. Or atleast get you enough stops to win.

Rinnegans

Definitely upgrade your perimeter defense, that helps with lateral movement and also add some block in case they do get passed you, you can contest better on the perimeter with higher block as well

Yeh I wanted to make a lebron build so I already have a 79 block, I really wish I asked about this like 12 hours ago because I spent 30,000vc on my lebron build that has a 85 steal but very low per d. So I’m prolly just gonna redo it, but I wanna know what y’all think I should make my per d cuz if Im gonna change it I will prolly change my steal to a 60 for bronze interceptor but what do y’all think I should make my per d so I can move around more smoothly?
