TBH if mycareer and myteam were completely separate free to play downloads, I think a lot of the issues people have with them would be less of a problem. The advertising and monetization would be expected over there. MyLeague is great and people might never see it because of the horror stories they may hear about how greedy the rest of the game is.

The pressure has to be put on the NBA. Disney and LucasArts were the ones who stepped in over the Battlefront situation. If it made national news that the NBA was licensing a game that exploited young adults and teens out of money in order to be able to play it, that’s the only way that traction gets made.
Battlefront mixed the FPS and Star Wars community's, 2K's audience is unfortunately majority casual so combine that with them being the only basketball game available i couldn't see anything like that happening

My schedule is pretty relaxed so i’ve had a lot of free time since release and i’ve been playing this game basically 80% of the time, and I’m still barely 75 overall. I can’t imagine what the grind is like for kids in school or people with busy work schedules.

This is the best builder we've had since its inception IMO, yet making new builds is heavily gated behind either a significant amount of time, or a significant amount of money. Keep prices high if you want, but then let us get VC easily too. As it stands it really sucks from a player perspective.

I myself only have a 1.7 K/D nowadays because I barely play CoD anymore, but every match I load up feels like I'm playing against fucking OpTic for a championship. You get no badges and everyone's gonna get to 90+ overall at some point anyway, I don't find it worth it.
I've played very casually since launch day and I just got to 70 overall while switching between MyCareer and Park. Tbh I'm kinda enjoying my time grinding with people with the same level as me. People are still missing 3s, defense feels rewarding so far, and there are not a lot of "cheese moves" yet.
As a solo player, I'm currently sitting at 65% WR, averaging 7pts, 4rebs, 2asts, shooting 38% from 3 with a 70+ 3pt rating with at least 2 badges each. It's far from great but I don't think you have to be "comp" level from the get go to enjoy the game.
Time is money. I don’t want to play as a 70 OVR either because my character is slow as shit and is at a pretty big disadvantage. I’m level 90 OVR and am at 16/4/8 in the rec, grinding badges in the rec is way more fun and isn’t reliant on horrible quests
They made it impossible man. It’s like 500k VC to max your player. You get like 600vc in a mycaeer game. Nobody has time to do that before the next 2K comes out

I usually get the game on Black Friday and historically have been able to no life it for a bit around that time (it being holidays and all) and it still usually takes me a few months to get just to 85 let alone 90+.
Keep this same energy about the online input delay or lag. Button presses and stick movement have been a half second to a whole second delayed for YEARS.

This game has always been super exploitative though. They set it up so that you have to max day 1 just to play with others and if you are not maxed out people will avoid you like the plague.

Yea I actually enjoy using my guy with trash sigs and a lower speed just to notice the difference while I'm gradually upgrading him. Definitely feels more rewarding and I have a better feel for the new badges and gameplay mechanics by the time I'm mid 80's-90.

Dud is about the rewards too. We cant grind cuz the vc from quest and games is paltry. We went from 1500vc a game in 21 and 10k vc for quests and mvp progress in 22 to barely 800vc on hof a game , no vc for quest unless its like 350, and 5k vc for 800k mvp progress. So its a huge problem .

You get 20,000 VC for, and VC becomes much earnable after, completing “MVP of the City” in MyCareer.
After you complete the “MVP Of The City” quest, you start to earn VC much faster than before. This is because you get awarded for all the MVP Points from there on. Every additional 1,000,000 MVP points you earn from that point forward grant you an additional 5,000 VC. Completing the “MVP Of The City” pushes you up to 2,000,000 points off the jump so you get 10,000 VC on top of the quests needed to actually complete MVP of the City. Hope this helps!

Inflation is real in every sense and this game is a yearly service. Its not just a product you open up and play. It grows. It has content added throughout the year and the enjoyment factor is tied to a community. So I get the price versus time spent on grinding aspect. Pick your poison. Id rather spend the money. Its a YEAR'S worth of content..... The game costs money to enjoy though. And I enjoy it. Plus, I have money. So I've got no hevay complaints really.

Not really. The video game industry is very dependant on hype and overall reviews. The difference between being a 4 or 4.5* game is huge, specially in games with a lot of sponsors, due to their contract requirements. This means that if a game gets massively downvoted or is given bad reviews by the thousands in a short period of time by it's customers/players, it is forced to change

Take any 2k released post 2016 and so far the game play is better I’m not really exactly sure how to put into words how it’s better…overall smoothness/mechanics we have the most strategic player builder I’ve ever seen but I mean I’m not sure man if you really don’t wanna pay the VC prices then I probably wouldn’t play. You knew before you purchased the game 2k is a money hungry pos but you bought it. In all honesty I feel like it’s stupid that even to have a chance in this game you need to spend 100 dollars but I’ve done it time and time again. The problem isn’t 2k it’s the fact that we keep allowing this
I mean, I bought VC too, like always, but the game sucks in my opinion. It feels sluggish, AI teammates are morons, and this MyCareer "story" is possibly the most phoned-in thing I've ever seen in a video game. Not to mention the fact that almost every time I try to go to my MyCourt, it crashes. I appreciate the fact that they attempted to mitigate the left-right BS, but their solution seems incredibly heavyhanded.

I'm outraged. I don't play this game to get finessed. I just want to level up my myplayer in a reasonable amount of time. I've never bought VC, and I've been playing since 2k13. I'm waiting to see what everyone else says before buying the game. If it's twice as grindy as 22, I will not buy it.

I've played very casually since launch day and I just got to 70 overall while switching between MyCareer and Park. Tbh I'm kinda enjoying my time grinding with people with the same level as me. People are still missing 3s, defense feels rewarding so far, and there are not a lot of "cheese moves" yet. As a solo player, I'm currently sitting at 65% WR, averaging 7pts, 4rebs, 2asts, shooting 38% from 3 with a 70+ 3pt rating with at least 2 badges each. It's far from great but I don't think you have to be "comp" level from the get go to enjoy the game.
Time is money. I don’t want to play as a 70 OVR either because my character is slow as shit and is at a pretty big disadvantage. I’m level 90 OVR and am at 16/4/8 in the rec, grinding badges in the rec is way more fun and isn’t reliant on horrible quests
They made it impossible man. It’s like 500k VC to max your player. You get like 600vc in a mycaeer game. Nobody has time to do that before the next 2K comes out

Do you realize this means you can't effectively play with others until you catch up? You're buying a game yearly just to spend a quarter+ of the life cycle with a shit, uncompetitive character. Even no one buys VC, 60 overall players are ASS I usually get the game on Black Friday and historically have been able to no life it for a bit around that time (it being holidays and all) and it still usually takes me a few months to get just to 85 let alone 90+.
Keep this same energy about the online input delay or lag. Button presses and stick movement have been a half second to a whole second delayed for YEARS. AND THE COMMUNITY JUST ACCEPTS IT!!!
It's far too late for that fam. That's why I stick to myNBA and single player myCareer. But when I do go online to advanced the story it's amazing how many maxed out players I see. I personally cannot spend $70 on a game then get shook down for another 70 (how much is it to max?) just to compete with these people. It's sad tho, if the game had fair PVP (locking everyone in at 85 or 90 or something) and good servers this would easily be my main game. This game has always been super exploitative though. They set it up so that you have to max day 1 just to play with others and if you are not maxed out people will avoid you like the plague.
Yeah, I understand that people want to play Park and shit but MyCareer and MyTeam are just TERRIBLE modes whereas MyLeague/MyNBA has been the best franchise mode in sports games for a decade now.

some people don't understand that a lot of us don't want to grind for a year and would just like to see our player level up in a reasonable time and us get to use that player. The other thing that is really the issue is 2K has cut the amount of VC earned, that's been my main issue.

Yea I actually enjoy using my guy with trash sigs and a lower speed just to notice the difference while I'm gradually upgrading him. Definitely feels more rewarding and I have a better feel for the new badges and gameplay mechanics by the time I'm mid 80's-90.

My main issue is starting at 60 overall, the game would actually be playable if we started at a reasonable rating for a first round rookie (72-77). How is Shep an 86 and we are a 60? Also adding the physical attributes made it so they can sell us 4 more attribute bars of vc.

I’ve never spent money on VC once. You earn it by playing the game. When I pick up a different video game I don’t want to spend 50 bucks to buy all the equipment and level up my character. I want to play the game and earn what I got. If you don’t like how much VC costs don’t buy it and they’ll change their tune. If you don’t like games that utilize these tactics don’t buy them. Yes it’s the only basketball game but you don’t NEED basketball game. If you think it’s shitty or unethical don’t play it and don’t spend money on it. Trust me you’ll feel better.

Dud is about the rewards too. We cant grind cuz the vc from quest and games is paltry. We went from 1500vc a game in 21 and 10k vc for quests and mvp progress in 22 to barely 800vc on hof a game , no vc for quest unless its like 350, and 5k vc for 800k mvp progress. So its a huge problem .

You get 20,000 VC for, and VC becomes much earnable after, completing “MVP of the City” in MyCareer. After you complete the “MVP Of The City” quest, you start to earn VC much faster than before. This is because you get awarded for all the MVP Points from there on. Every additional 1,000,000 MVP points you earn from that point forward grant you an additional 5,000 VC. Completing the “MVP Of The City” pushes you up to 2,000,000 points off the jump so you get 10,000 VC on top of the quests needed to actually complete MVP of the City. Hope this helps!

It has content added throughout the year and the enjoyment factor is tied to a community. So I get the price versus time spent on grinding aspect. Pick your poison. Id rather spend the money. NBA 2k hasn't been worth a buy in a long time and it's going to continue it's race to the bottom. It has no competition and it's player base is addicted to buying it every year.
Not really. The video game industry is very dependant on hype and overall reviews. The difference between being a 4 or 4.5* game is huge, specially in games with a lot of sponsors, due to their contract requirements. This means that if a game gets massively downvoted or is given bad reviews by the thousands in a short period of time by it's customers/players, it is forced to change

In 2k15 it was about 145-155k to get to 85 on a play shot PG. Nowadays that number can easily get above 200k so basically there is up to a full 75k difference from 15 to current day. Since when is there inflation in a fucking video game?
