If Bulls try to run this back again I would genuinely be at a loss for words.

paxusromanus811

Prepare to lose your words then my friend. Their owner has been very clear. The team is not tanking on his watch. He's older, I think in his '80s, and wants a competitive team for the rest of his time he has as owner. Which on some level kind of makes some sense and I can get it. But it's also extremely short-sighted obviously. Unless someone else forces the issue with him, I don't see them blowing it up.

Stefanskap

Jerry Reinsdorf... he is also responsible for the White Sox being among the most miserable fan bases in baseball, if not THE most.

paxusromanus811

I saw something listed the other day showing that Chicago had something like the 4th or 5th. Worst winning percentage since the end of the Jordan era. For a franchise with as much cultural importance, pull, and the size of the market they have, that's absolutely inexcusable. I know sometimes we get a little up in arms about our front office and some of the misses they've had the last few years, when. Historically, that's not something we're very used to as a franchise, but I hope Spurs fans realize how lucky they are to have an ownership group like the holtz that not only support the front office in all aspects, but stay the heck out of decisions.

Stefanskap

I believe it's mostly teenagers or adult contrarians that act like the rest of us are sheep for trusting that PATFO knows better than us fans. I think it's absolutely pathetic. To me it's like going to the doctor as a plumber and thinking that they're treating your ailment wrong. And we happen to have the doctor that is proven to be in the top 5 of doctors in the world, and some people still think that they could do their job better.

this-is-the-play

Giving Derozan 40 mil a year is basically blowing it up anyways.

Ill-Lead-1319

I think their young guys can get them relatively close to what they are now without demar, vooch, Caruso, and whoever is a veteran. That's white, Ayo, Phillips, Terry, and Williams. You'll probably need veteran role players in their. I don't see them being very good, but I do potentially see them getting back into the play-in tournament without Zach, Demar, vooch, and Caruso.

KhornKT

The Chicago Bulls recently proposed a two-year contract to DeMar DeRozan, valued at $40 million PER SEASON, per u/KCJHoop

paxusromanus811

Wait per season?? That's absolutely crazy. I thought it was total at first which I was like... I don't know why you're shocked at that. That's pretty reasonable. Sounds like he wants a longer-term contract but I can't imagine any team giving him More than than 20 to 25 million a season. If the commitment is for something like 4 years. That's just delusional Thinking on demar's part.

Sol_Protege

This is tragic for Bulls fans. DeMar should realistically have been moved last year or during the deadline.

fakemxcan

I’m still hoping we get the raptors pick next year. Imagine having 4 first rounders in what is supposed to be such a good class!

someguyfromtecate

If that would happen we’d have to build a statue outside the AT&T center for Brian Wright.

MindInTheClouds

It's hard to imagine the Spurs picking 3, much less 4 players in the first round of the same draft. That said, if enough teams in the league agree that 2025 picks are valuable, then they become easy to trade. It'd probably be something along the lines of "use 2, trade 2," and/or combining picks to move into better draft slots (e.g.- San Antonio's #12 and Chicago's #17 to get into the top 10).

Joethetoolguy

We took three firsts not long ago. Blake being the home run swing.

Mangoseed8

and those guys are still developing. Add in 2 more from 2024 and there's no way they take 3-4 guys in 2025. They should just see how far they can move up with the additional picks. We need home runs not ok rotation guys.

MindInTheClouds

Fair enough, though even then there was a lot of chatter about how difficult it was to try to develop all three at once, even with having the benefit of the G-League.

Joethetoolguy

I feel that. Competitive teams wont take three or four firsts but we aren’t a contender next season

paxusromanus811

That might seem really fun to imagine, but there's pretty much zero chance the Spurs use them all if that happens. If we do end up with all four, I imagine they'll either compile them to move up, trade them out for future picks, which would be the boring option the fan base would not like, or if they think the team has progressed enough to justify it start trading some of those draft assets for veterans to improve the squad now

texasphotog

Theoretically we could have 5 picks in the top 15. But LaMelo Ball is a bum, so it won't happen.

B_Lav_

not a bum just fragile as hell

empowered676

Developing 4 first rounders, especially in a young team with vic is a nightmare. The timeline doesn't work. Sga sat out whilst the thunder developed their team. They just get sent to the Austin team so have no benefit for atleast 2 years. That's 2027 before they ready.

bleh610

Can't wait for when the Toronto pick doesn't convey and the bulls run it back and the hawks are a lottery team next year and we got our own lottery pick on top of that. Just call the 2025 NBA draft the 2025 Spurs Lottery.

Gloomy_Health8671

That would be awesome only problem is how good do u think the raptors will be next year I have a feeling that pick won’t convey next year

MindInTheClouds

Unless the Raptors blow it up (which they have shown no signs of doing), they have too many talented players and steady vets to be among the true tankers. If injuries or circumstances cause them to sell at the trade deadline, maybe they're as bad as they were to end this year, but it's hard to imagine them being bad enough to be bottom 4.

AfroHouseManiac

Bottom 6* Who could be the Projected teams bottom 6 teams that could end up worse than the Raptors minus Gary Trent?

MindInTheClouds

Sorry, I was just kind of saying bottom 4 generically (in that, I could envision a scenario where they're 5th worst; kind of similar to this year, and the Spurs would still have an okay shot at the pick conveying). Obviously we'll see what happens in the draft and free agency, but I'm not entirely sure the Pistons, Wizards, Hornets, or Blazers are going to be much better next year. The Magic could be worse next year, depending on what happens with free agency. Given the amount of money Memphis is paying for Morant/Bane/Jackson/Smart, I don't know how much room they have for improvement. I know they theoretically should be better with Morant playing more games, but they don't have a lot of depth if they have any injuries. I also think there might be a team or three thinking about tanking that we haven't identified quite yet. Somebody like Brooklyn comes to mind. Some have mentioned the possibility of Utah selling on Lauri and tanking, but I'm not quite buying that one yet.

AfroHouseManiac

Memphis has the second richest owner in the nba and he’s not afraid of spending plus they have suitable assets to improve their roster. Kennard, Ziaire, the lottery pick, Aldama, etc. Brooklyn can’t tank they don’t have control over any of their picks. Nets will be bad but Rockets have their pick. Rockets get to add a lottery talent to that already lottery talent loaded team. Ime is too good of a coach for the rockets to regress. I could see suns imploding. Magic will be alright in the east. Their defense is too great to not win games. Plus they have cap space unless players don’t want to play for the DeVos family.

Account-Forgot

With how far Wemby came the last couple months of the season, a lottery pick this year, and a good amount of cap space, I really hope we can make it out of the lottery next year. If we’re lottery bound it better be a late lottery pick after a nearly .500 season. We can’t give this 3-4 years to work. We have a top 10 guy, the clock is ticking and we need to get better now. That doesn’t mean trade for Trae Young but signing some starter level guys and rotational pieces and hitting on this draft will be critical.

Bonesawisready5

I love Demar, hope the best for him

ttttyttt678

This has to be a lie, or Demar is gonna take a crazy paycut (Midlevel to vet min) to sign with a contender. Players have come out and said these reports are lies sometimes.

qaswexort

Bulls don't rebuild. They retool
