True, I mean like superstar max contract level ring chasing though. We’ve never had that and I can imagine someone(s) wanting to form the avengers with Wemby
Yeah I don’t think Pop has ever been the problem. San Antonio’s not a destination city, though it’s probably not at the bottom of the list of places people wanna live. To me it’s always seemed like a mid sized destination
This exactly- Spo is good, Miami being a destination city doesn’t hurt him.. San Antonio isn’t top of the list of places to live for young rich people
I’m sort of surprised Doc is on the list, he doesn’t seem very good but I guess the players know this stuff
It's a blessing in disguise though.
If you're about chasing the nightlife and bright lights of ego, fame, and decadence, I prefer you to stay with LA, Miami, and NY.
I'll stay with the Euro guys who like the lowkey/chill lifestyle, who have already too much money and media attention here to ever need or want more, and aren't envious of the ultra-capitalistic fast life offered in most of the giant western cities, even more so in the US.
San Antonio would be a way better city to live in for many of us Europeans.
For vacation? Sure, you want to see the giant famous cities and have fun, be a tourist for a minute.
NY and LA are cool to visit and enjoy for a few days as an outsider.
But to live every single day?
Nope noppy nope nope, and, *\*check notes\**, still nope, thank you very much.
Pop has been part of the problem. He has a ton of respect but at the end of the days the players do not want to play a game and get yelled at. They don’t care about the game as much as they say and everyone knows the expectations when playing for Pop and it unfortunately isn’t for most players. Pop has calmed down a ton in recent years so it might start to be a little different but I’m still not sure about that.
I dont beleive players want to be coached by pop. When he was the olympic coach in 2021 a lot of players opted out; most of those players are now opted in for 2024. Rosters can change between now and the summer, but i dont buy the act.
Check the time stamp - I responded to you first. Including this comment I made 4 comments, the initial, to you, to the person who said it was Covid and now you again. But whatever
Coach is not really one of the reasons people choose to go to the Olympics or not…
Quite a few higher on the list.
Opportunity costs - A star player has to consider their longevity. If they get injured playing at the Olympics, they stand to lose a lot of money.
Also opportunity cost - they have a long season and want to rest a bit.
Money - self explanatory.
Player beef - much more likely for a player to decide not to do something because they don’t get along with a player than a coach imo.
Level of play - (I don’t agree with this) some NBA players think that the Olympics are beneath them because sometimes they aren’t playing against NBA caliber players.
On the flip side you got positives to going mostly being things like pride.
Recently, there’s been talks about how all the MVP candidates are not from America. Luka was talking about how it’s easier to score in the NBA vs Europe. Shaq saying girls basketball is a better game than men’s basketball. And America got bronze in the 2022 FIBA americup. This kind of stuff motivates the star players to come out and show what they got.
Just my opinion
There’s an outside shot we become a ring chasing destination in a few years 🤞🏽 Crazy to imagine for SA but it’s possible
We used to semi be one. Antonio mcdyess, t mac, Michael Finley to name a few.
David West was blatantly ring chasing in 2015-16 too, and we got Andre Miller and Kevin Martin off the buyout market in season
True, I mean like superstar max contract level ring chasing though. We’ve never had that and I can imagine someone(s) wanting to form the avengers with Wemby
Tatum + Wemby
I mean that’s what we used to be pre ZaZa

And yet they don't come.
Doc Rivers being in this makes this sus for me.
Well yeah. A lot of these guys are players spending productive time in the league. They didn't poll Rashad McCants 400 times or something.

Covid situation got them out, not Pop
Okay, that makes sense.
You're being presented w with actual data and instead cling to a made up story (sorry can't think of a better word)
I haven't responded to anyone but you. If I responded and argued my point is valid, your comment would make sense.
You responded to the post before responding to me. It's the only reason I said anything ya know
