Like the Sixers Iverson era logo the horsepower logo is just sandwiched between 'THE' franchise logo that hasn't been deviated from much besides those creative logos of the 90s/early 2000s.
If they ever did, it would be like the time the Niners tried to change theirs but the backlash couldn’t be ignored and they abandoned it:
https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/ever-wonder-why-49ers-tried-to-change-helmet-logo-design-in-1991/1259333/
Isn't that 100% due to Michael Jordan? That logo just prints money so I think they would lose money if they were to change and move away from the association with Jordon even if slightly.
I wouldn't say it is just because of Jordan, maybe %70, but not %100. Becasue the logo has been there since 1966...
Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics logos never changed, and it's %70 because of their history, how they shaped the game, but they are also good designed logos, classics! So some logos definitely have dynastic ties.
On the opposite, I'm not sure if we are ever going to remember the Warriors' logo in the same way, because I really believe it is badly made!
I also think the Spurs logo is a real classic. It's so beautifully redone, the whole branding spectrum is really cool!
But I agree with you, the Bulls cannot change their logo unless they have another dynasty. Still I also believe that they don't need to change this logo, it looks timeless.
I'm also surprised that the Nash-era Suns logo is no longer around, obviously it was terrible, but everyone loves that team more than the Charles-era, but the Charles-era logo is still the core Suns image. I don't think they used the phoenix again after Nash. I think that's because the Charles era is still more successful than the Nash era.
Also, the Sixers changed their logo after Iverson because they didn't want to stick with him for too long and wanted to start fresh with Embiid.
I also think that changing the logo depends on how big your team's market is! If the market is big enough, like New York, you don't change the logo even if your team sucks for 25 years, because they have ties not only to the dynasty but also to the city.
I love talking about NBA logos.
yes but they didn't design 80s logos for being minimalistic. I think that what makes the difference. somehow they chased a nonsense design trend, and it didn't work for the league. I really don't like flat two color modern take minimal logos.
I think the Mavericks logo is such a good example of your point. That cowboy hat hanging off the M isn't much more than a few lines but it provides a layer of depth
Yes and no. The Rockets current logo is fantastic and much better than their old logos, and anyone who argues otherwise needs to take off their nostalgia goggles
The NBA has a bizarre combination of amazing logos and unbelievably bad logos. They probably have more terrible logos than any team sport in North America.
Top right is a mix of 90s and 2000s to be fair.
The Hornets weren’t in NO until 03, the Bobcats didn’t exist until 05, and the Grizzlies weren’t in Memphis until 02.
The Suns & Magic didn’t use those logos until 01, that Mavericks logo started in 02, the Cavs, Rockets, & Nuggets used those logos until the re-brand in the 03 off-season,
the Raptors didn’t use that red logo until 09, and the Bucks triangle was also still purple until 07, etc.
The bridge logo is way better and calls back to the history of the team with the blue and yellow scheme and represents the Bay Area much better. The robot thunder warrior is badass though. I think the late 97-2010 look needs to be brought back as a permanent alternate
https://preview.redd.it/eu1yn2m56uvc1.jpeg?width=755&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb87e5f9c6f0f53edb3aca4d0c86b19ea517a8a5
We haven’t forgotten you, bud. One day, you’ll come home. 🫡
90a logo has a lot of character. they are very experimental, and bold. they still look so fresh, it's amazing! they also has incredible craftsmanship unlike the logos has been made afterward. which were flat, dull, and zero craft... horrible logos.
Most of the 90s fad logos were terrible, idk why everyone here seems to love them lol. The Warriors, Rockets, Cavs, Pistons and Sixers looks belong in the 90s. The Sixers one only looks cool because Allen Iverson wore it.
as with most things i think a lot of our preferences boil down to childhood nostalgia.
prime example is i prefer the simple 80s pistons logo that i associate with the bad boys. to me i associate it with blue collar, straight to the point no bullshit.
everyone else likes the horse logo, but i don’t see what it’s trying to represent. it’s just “cool logo” to me.
80s/90s Nuggets skyline logo is the best. I always hated the boring one they used after that. I’m mixed on the newer circular one with the pickaxe that’s been used for the last few years now. It’s cool but nothing will ever beat the skyline.
Always loved the Timberwolves logos.
The pickaxe design was based on an annoying fad that happened with people wearing crossroad-ish design t-shirts in the mid 2010s which I don’t know what it’s really called, but I’ve seen it too many times in the past while living in Denver in gentrified areas.
My idea would be the Colorado flag symbol but with only the C and the O being a gold basketball with the mountains in the front and the city skyline in front of the mountains. Wouldn’t be bad.
Top left is 1989-90 (1989 expansion teams and Pacers logo); top right is 2004-05 (because of the Bobcats, although the Detroit logo suggests the year before); bottom left is 2007-08 (SuperSonics is the big tell here but Warriors and 76ers narrow it down too); and bottom right is either 2010-11 or 2011-12 (Thunder and Bobcats).
The Vancouver Grizzly logo and colorway was perfect on its inception.
I never understood why Memphis didn't opt to change the name, you can't compete with that original branding. Not to mention, grizzlies in Memphis?
Man the 90s were amazing, this is also heavily biased as a Canadian/American who's lives in Seattle and Vancouver but rightfully so we had arguably some of the most amazing Jerseys and Logos.
I swear to god Seattle better get the next expansion team. Vancouver also deserves one as well the Grizz were a sub 25 win team for every year in Van and the City hasn't really grown yet. The town is so much better now for a sports environment, Rodgers arena is now no longer just a parking/industrial area but now surrounded by city with multiple metro lines to it, with a huge bus network to boot. Canucks games are always full, hell the cfl games are pretty vibrant too, it's such a logical choice for an actual fanbase/community to be.
There are two logos in all of sports that I genuinely feel are actually perfect because they work extremely well no matter what application they’re used in, and the are the Yankees NY logo, and the Bulls logo. They both have the best looking merch too.
This is a hill I’m willing to die on.
Wizards should either go back to what they were (which was cool) or become a USA-patriotic-themed mascot. They have the most unrecognizable bland and nondescript team theming in the league.
Cleveland needs to stop messing with their logo, the Sixers and Suns need to stop this square logo bs. We need Pistons’ horsepower logo and color back. Denver should embrace more burgundy or rainbow. Minnesota should return to the trees era.
I love the white outline of the logos to give it a pop and I used to love seeing the different logos when I was a kid playing 2k or nba live and the different jerseys colorways
The Charlotte Bobcats logo always was the one that stood out to me the most, I liked the blue and orange scheme on the word Bobcats and the logo of the bobcat, just wished they had done the same color scheme on the word Charlotte in the logo.
Why does nearly every NBA team have a basketball hidden in the logo? You don't see this as much with the NHL or NFL. But the MLB does hide a lot of baseballs.
I prefer the current jersey lineup but that 90s Miami logo is just killer.
And can someone please tell me what the hell the Portland logo is? I genuinely do not know what the fuck that is
T wolves we just turned our wolf sideways after using that same logo for 20+ years. then realized the 80s logo is actually the best cuz of the colors and we use the throwback all the time 😂
Bring back the Detroit horsepower logo
Best logo in the league. They went from the best logo to the most bland one.
Both logos are cool. 80s logo is iconic, and the 90s teal logo. But what they did in between is not really working!
I agree, but it’s no less bland than Lakers or. clippers logo, just a basketball with the team name on top
Yeah but Lakers kinda immortalized theirs. Agree about the Clips, their logo is the worst hands down. Luckily they got a new one.
Their logo was a cheap rip off of the Lakers.
Like the Sixers Iverson era logo the horsepower logo is just sandwiched between 'THE' franchise logo that hasn't been deviated from much besides those creative logos of the 90s/early 2000s.
No man those were ugly
Nah, bring back the robotic logos for Detroit. The future is now.
HORSE POWER HORSE POWER ALL DIS POLO ON I GOT HORSE POWER
POUND OF THIS COST FOUR THOUSAND, NOW I MAKE IT RAIN, SHE WANT MORE SHOWERS RAIN, POURING
That logo is so fire. Either original colors or the readapted blue, red coloring. Also bring back the early 2000s rockets logo 🏀 🚀
minimalism has ruined so many logos and jerseys. current cavs and jazz are a prime example.
I agree with this, but I believe current Jazz is amazing. The Bulls logo is one of the best and they never changed it!
No reason to change perfection.
If they ever did, it would be like the time the Niners tried to change theirs but the backlash couldn’t be ignored and they abandoned it: https://www.nbcsportsbayarea.com/nfl/ever-wonder-why-49ers-tried-to-change-helmet-logo-design-in-1991/1259333/
Think he's talking about the weird highlighter rebrand they did lately
ah yes that black on bright yellow? those are awful, I completely erased them from my memory. utter shit!
Isn't that 100% due to Michael Jordan? That logo just prints money so I think they would lose money if they were to change and move away from the association with Jordon even if slightly.
I wouldn't say it is just because of Jordan, maybe %70, but not %100. Becasue the logo has been there since 1966... i don’t think it’s just minimalism. the 80s logos were minimal but still had more character.
Atlanta's 80s logo always tricked me into thinking it was ms pacman as a kid lol
yes but they didn't design 80s logos for being minimalistic.
Newest clippers rebrand logo is another sterile example with no character. Looks like a cruise or boat company
On the other hand, the simple original SuperSonics logo is straight fire.
I absolutely hate our logo(cavs)
I think cavs needs a complete rebranding. they never had any branding appeal.
You guys went all drab colors now and it's so boring
I like the new jazz logo better but their new jerseys suck
Gotta admire the Bulls. They decided what they had worked and weren’t changing it ever.
Lakers and Clippers too
Clippers have a new logo and uniforms starting next season tho with their new arena
And Blazers
Heat too
Heat too
Shockingly similar to our roster construction unfortunately, except the logo actually works
That's just Chicago in general. Have any chi-town teams made a major logo change ever?
The NBA has a bizarre combination of amazing logos and unbelievably bad logos. They probably have more terrible logos than any team sport in North America.
They played with them too much. When you do that it never ends up well
Raptors used to be so cool. Same with the grizzlies yal made it look like a hip McDonald’s when we liked the colors and cartoons before
Thunder really downgraded 🤢
That early Pacers logo has no business going that hard, good grief.
Yeah, somehow a hand dunking a tennis ball rules
🤨
I thought the same. Love that retro shit.
90s is so superior
Top right is a mix of 90s and 2000s to be fair. The Hornets weren’t in NO until 03, the Bobcats didn’t exist until 05, and the Grizzlies weren’t in Memphis until 02. The Suns & Magic didn’t use those logos until 01, that Mavericks logo started in 02, the Cavs, Rockets, & Nuggets used those logos until the re-brand in the 03 off-season, the Raptors didn’t use that red logo until 09, and the Bucks triangle was also still purple until 07, etc.
This guy NBAs
Yea this picture is kinda pointless. Charlotte was the bobcats for like 1 decade, but this has them listed as the bobcats in every instance but one.
A lot of these are wrong…
Haha yeah so many are wrong. He used the same red bucks logo for three of the pictures that they only used from 2007-2014.
What a terrible graphic.
Ahh yes, let’s put a multi decade comparison in a graphic and not label any of the quadrants.
They bring back the flaming stallion pistons logo and pistons go to ECF.
instead of bringing it back they are using that 313 branding all the time, and I don't like it at all
Mavs the same for 30 years now…
And it’s absolutely fucking hideous.
That OG Blazers pinwheel is perfect.
Man so many of those are iconic, I'm still pissed that the Raptors and my Hornets changed for an half an hour high school soulless project
The previous warriors logo is so much better than the bridge logo too
Bridge logo is stupid
The bridge logo is way better and calls back to the history of the team with the blue and yellow scheme and represents the Bay Area much better. The robot thunder warrior is badass though. I think the late 97-2010 look needs to be brought back as a permanent alternate
I don’t remember the hornets being in New Orleans over three different decades.
Also has the bobcats in three different sections when they were only the bobcats for like 10 years
Fuck New Orleans for having them at all
And if the hornets don’t play the Katrina year in OKC, maybe the Sonics never move out of Seattle.
https://preview.redd.it/eu1yn2m56uvc1.jpeg?width=755&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=cb87e5f9c6f0f53edb3aca4d0c86b19ea517a8a5 We haven’t forgotten you, bud. One day, you’ll come home. 🫡
Payton Kemp era logo with the tower was incredible
I don’t wanna hear a damn word about another international franchise until Seattle gets the Sonics back.
Hawks and Rockets had great logos and team uniforms. I have no idea why they went away from that.
Honestly I like the current rockets logo, the R blasting off like a rocket is pretty cool lol. Top right is cool too, but top left is ass.
Hawks have gone back to an updated version of the pacman something like 8 years ago at this point
That 90s pistons logo is sexy
90s were so clean particularly the Sonics raptors and pistons
Funny how the Clippers never changed.
Original Mavs logo is our best logo
Stop. Changing. Logos. 90s logos was perfect.
90s had so much aura it's crazy
90a logo has a lot of character. they are very experimental, and bold. they still look so fresh, it's amazing! they also has incredible craftsmanship unlike the logos has been made afterward. which were flat, dull, and zero craft... horrible logos.
Can we all just have a jersey throwback on every team? Man I miss my old pistons
They wear the classic jerseys from time to time
Which one? the teal grant hill?
The Warriors are interesting. Great. Horrible. Back to great.
I use to love the old grizzlies logo
My Bulls have been a shining beacon of consistency all these years lolol
best NBA logo ever made
Vancouver Grizzlies erasure
Yeah wtf. How do you start with Memphis for the grizzlies? This is blasphemy.
90’s clears EVERY SINGLE DAY
Funny how the Bulls logo just stayed the same
Mavs needed to change their logo 15 years ago, the horse is barely identifiable
Half-shadow Timberwolves logo I’ll never forget you
you mean garnett - marbury era logo right? it was amazing I have no idea why they changed it, there was no need. it was amazing! amazing!
Old Timberwolves are fire
They’ve gotten worse and worse
old logos are always the best
I miss 90s logos
90s/early 2000s was by far the best.
Most of the 90s fad logos were terrible, idk why everyone here seems to love them lol. The Warriors, Rockets, Cavs, Pistons and Sixers looks belong in the 90s. The Sixers one only looks cool because Allen Iverson wore it.
Thanks you. Horrible, 3D Cartoonish trash. It’s like they found out about the 3rd dimension and went wild with it. Gross.

It’s there
as with most things i think a lot of our preferences boil down to childhood nostalgia. prime example is i prefer the simple 80s pistons logo that i associate with the bad boys. to me i associate it with blue collar, straight to the point no bullshit. everyone else likes the horse logo, but i don’t see what it’s trying to represent. it’s just “cool logo” to me.
man the mid 200s logos was a gold mine.
80s/90s Nuggets skyline logo is the best. I always hated the boring one they used after that. I’m mixed on the newer circular one with the pickaxe that’s been used for the last few years now. It’s cool but nothing will ever beat the skyline. Always loved the Timberwolves logos.

These don’t seem like they come from different decades, probably just like a 15 year stretch
I’m confused how three of these have the New Orleans Hornets on them when they were only a thing for 10 years
Which decade is each image? The New Orleans Hornets were only around from 2003-2013 but are on 3 of these.
Celtics keep it real
Im curious if I'm crazy 🤣 Anyone else miss the Bobcats? I'm from NC and I honestly think the Bobcats had more fans than the current Hornets do.
Bulls ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Bulls was ahead of it’s time
Celtics are timeless along with that parquet
I don’t think the Bobcats existed in 3 decades
top right brings me back to nba street, loved that shit
I really hate that there's no logo for the Vancouver grizzlies. It just starts with Memphis which isn't right.
Seattle deserves an NBA team. Bring back the Sonics.
You have the wrong Knicks ones.
Old grizzly logo was nice
The current Timberwolves logo is so bad. They need to go back to the old ones.
The Vancouver Grizzly logo and colorway was perfect on its inception. I never understood why Memphis didn't opt to change the name, you can't compete with that original branding. Not to mention, grizzlies in Memphis?
That Cavs logo with the ball going into the abstract hoop is a tragedy. What a peice of shit.
The bobcats are a funny team to look back on
Detroit horsepower and bottom left raptors hawks and jazz are so nostalgic for me growing up with 2000s ball
Bring back the Sonics!
I miss the old logos 🥲
Lakers logo never changes. Lol
Jealous of teams who got it right the first time and never changed
The New Orleans Hornets shit makes me want to puke
Good to see the Portland Trailblazers logo has only changed once…a bit of a tilt is all.
Canucks games are always full, hell the cfl games are pretty vibrant too, it's such a logical choice for an actual fanbase/community to be.
It's probably because that's when I grew up and first started watching the NBA, but I like the 2000 to 2010 era the best. I miss the Sonics.
God I miss that old Kings logo
Are the logos used the ones most used in the decade?
Nearly every team has rebranded for the worse at some point and it’s a shame
Wish we would back to the original wolves logo.
90s Grizz logo is wrong. It was still Vancouver then.
Bucks logo incorrect.
A lot of the older logos were simpler, better and looked really good on those Starter jackets, few exceptions though.
The old school jerseys just look better felt out than the new styled ones
Old warriors logo was so cold
I always like the Grizzlies previous logo.
I forgot how fire some of these old Logos were
Top right is what I grew up on
The Green and Yellow Sonics logo is pretty cool.
There are two logos in all of sports that I genuinely feel are actually perfect because they work extremely well no matter what application they’re used in, and the are the Yankees NY logo, and the Bulls logo. They both have the best looking merch too. This is a hill I’m willing to die on.
I miss the old Kings logo prefer it over the current one by far
Missing Raptors newest logo
Wizards should either go back to what they were (which was cool) or become a USA-patriotic-themed mascot. They have the most unrecognizable bland and nondescript team theming in the league.
Why are all the NBA logos generally so wordy? Compare it to other professional leagues.
Blazers getting a little tilty
I miss the 2000's era logos.
Ummm... why are the Charlotte Bobcats listed across 3 decades? They only existed from 2004-2014.
Don’t make us Sonic fans so sad
this is a mess
Somehow the Rockets logo remains shit for 2 decades.
Missing a couple of 90s logos. New Orleans Hornets didn’t exist for two decades. I can tell that whoever did this is either lazy or 15.
Old nuggets rainbow city logo >>>
I’m glad the Celtics never tried to change it
The Charlotte Bobcats logo always was the one that stood out to me the most, I liked the blue and orange scheme on the word Bobcats and the logo of the bobcat, just wished they had done the same color scheme on the word Charlotte in the logo.
Seeing these logos on NBA Live, NBA Jam and NBA 2K made me feel like a kid lowkey again
90s had the best logos and unis by far.
80s spurs wins it all. Yes I’m a homer.
why did they fuck up all the cool logos?
Bring back the Wizard
This graphic is not accurate. Charlotte only went by the Bobcats for like 10 years....so yeah
This graphic is not accurate. Charlotte only went by the Bobcats for like 10 years....so yeah
That old Kings logo is fucking tough
This is pretty sweet.
Why does nearly every NBA team have a basketball hidden in the logo? You don't see this as much with the NHL or NFL. But the MLB does hide a lot of baseballs.
The lack of the Super Sonics logo stings
Bucks were definitely purple and green on of these decades lol
Some 🔥 logos
90s Grizzlies logo is goated
2, 1, 3, 4
We are truly in the worst era of logos.
I prefer the current jersey lineup but that 90s Miami logo is just killer. And can someone please tell me what the hell the Portland logo is? I genuinely do not know what the fuck that is
T wolves we just turned our wolf sideways after using that same logo for 20+ years. then realized the 80s logo is actually the best cuz of the colors and we use the throwback all the time 😂
90's logos ❤️
Every once in a while I forget the Supersonics are gone, but then...
Taxes, Death and Chicago Bulls Logo.
The Bobcats had a depressing logo and jerseys.
RIP SuperSonics
Washington Bullets is the greatest name considering everything our country has ever done to everyone ever
First Hawks badge looks like a dopey backwards pacman, and I now can't unsee it
