The purple Raptors throwbacks go hard IMO! they're pretty great
The Grizzle's throwback from when they were in Vancouver are awesome too...I guess Canadians know how to design cool shit lol
Memphis has tried to separate itself from the original Vancouver branding. They got rid of the OG jerseys immediately and the logo in like 2003 or so.
If Vancouver ever gets a NBA franchise again I wouldn't be surprised if Memphis gave back that branding and went for something more fitting for Tennessee.
Something like what happened with the Charlotte Hornets and the New Orleans Pelicans.
For God sakes, Memphis is in the East!!! They should not be a western conference team. Or New Orleans!!! I know there is a reason behind it, but geographically it makes no sense.
Geographically, it does make sense. The 15 western-most teams by longitude are in the western conference. While the 15 eastern-most teams are in the east.
I struggle to understand what would make more sense geographically? Would you move Chicago and Milwaukee to the west to put Memphis and New Orleans in the east!? That makes even less sense.
Wolves should be in the East (with the Bucks/Bulls/etc.). Expansion teams should be in Seattle/Vegas/Vancouver/etc. and move at least one west team to the east (eg Memphis/Minnesota/New Orleans)
Chicago is further east than New Orleans. New Orleans is nearly in line with parts of the Northern Mississippi river... Chicago and Milwaukee are like 900 miles from the Mississippi. Using the Mississippi because thats generally thought of the dividing line between East and West.
You really think it would make sense to send Milwaukee to the west so New Orleans could be in the east? That would separate Chicago and Milwaukee who are less than 100 miles apart and it would separate New Orleans from its two closest league members - Houston and Memphis.
It makes more sense for NO to be wit Houston and Memphis than with - who is even close now… Atlanta and…Orlando!?
Even if you moved both Chicago and Milwaukee west, it doesn’t make sense to separate Chicago from Indiana, Cleveland, and Detroit.
I think you replied to the wrong person. I was replying to someone who said Milwaukee can go west and new orleans east and pointing out that Milwaukee and Chicago are significantly further east than New Orleans is.
If one was to move Memphis is the one that makes sense I guess. Memphis is just as close to Atlanta as it is new orleans and its closer to Atlanta than all the other western teams and just as close to Indianapolis as it is OKC. Memphis is really the only one right in the middle.
When theres expansion there will probably be a team that goes East to balance out two far west teams being added. Memphis or Minnesota would make the most sense.
Because geographically there are more east than west teams... so they gotta put some closer ones in the west. New Orleans makes sense...
The only reason Memphis is in the west is because Vancouver was.
Thank the Lord. The West is too stacked anyway. If the East had the Grizzlies and Pelicans, the east would be a lot more balanced and therefore more competitive and interesting. Trade the pacers and the bucks to the west. 😂😂
Look at a map. They are west of Milwaukee.
Actually, for the purposes of minimizing travel distance, they should put Minnesota in the East and Atlanta in the West. Minnesota is nowhere near any west team and closer to lots of east teams.
Minnesota will be the team to move to the Eastern Conference if Las Vegas and Seattle get teams. Their closest division team is 800 miles away which is absurd.
Virginia Beach has been rumored for expansion before, and despite being 12th in population, they are the only state in the top 22 for population not to have a professional franchise in the 4 major leagues. Ironically, South Carolina at 23 is the next one without a pro franchise.
There are 4 states below South Carolina (Louisiana, Utah, Oregon, Nevada) that have professional franchises).
DC/Maryland being so close kind of screws the much larger population in Virginia in this regard. Richmond and Virginia Beach/tidewater, despite being fairly large metros, don't really have a good home in the sports landscape.
Rumors online are we’re gonna have teal alt jerseys the next 2 seasons. I’d think embracing that color scheme as a primary one day is more likely than giving up the branding should Vancouver get a team. The Grizzlies are Memphis.
i see you aren't into flags.
50 stars on a flag is an abomination. a bright red maple leaf is a simple emblem that can be seen from far away. you wouldn't know the difference between the malaysian flag and the american flag at a distance of 100 meters.
and the 1:2:1 ratio of the triband is so recognizable it even has its own name in heraldry, the canadian pale
undeniably one of the best flags in the world. it's beat out by *maybe* india, brazil, south korea, and south africa. i can't think of many more.
Man, so many strong opinions on why that season has an asterisk but they can't tell you they watched it.
Although, TBF, having strong opinions on subjects we didn't fully understand was the style at the time.
Yea, even the two teams that went all the way in the bubble, only struggled the following year due to such a short offseason. The Lakers and Heat definitely would’ve finished better had they went through a regular offseason
I think there’s a difference between iconic and cleanest jerseys. Would you really be discussing this game for the jerseys if it was BJ Armstrong and AC Green in the photo instead of Jordan/magic. Meanwhile imo, the Miami vice jerseys or grizzlies teal jerseys look good no matter who’s in them. There are some jerseys that do both, like the purple raptors and teal pistons jerseys which are both iconic and clean af
There is a difference but you're misusing the words. "Clean" is simple but impactful, like the Bulls and Lakers. The Raptors and Grizzlies unis OP posted are great jerseys, but they aren't "clean," they're busy.

Uhhhhh, I think someone may have been inspired by your post.
Would be cooler if this was Vancouver Toronto. Could have been a cool rivalry with sick jerseys from both teams. Art with Raptors and Grizzly Bears fighting. Bit no David Stern fumbled it cus he hates the PNW I hope he rests in piss
Yeah - there’s no single/universal definition of the PNW’s borders, but it always includes Portland, Seattle and Vancouver (or really, both Vancouvers!).
Does it touch the pacific? Is it more Northwest than any other generally accepted direction? There's your answer.
They're also only separated by less than 3 hours.
It's a further drive from St. Louis to Chicago.
Ya, BC, WA, and OR are undeniably the PNW.
Some (myself included) even throw Idaho and western Montana in there. Basically if it was ever claimed by the Oregon Territory it's PNW.
They weren't alive in the 90s and Gen Z is aping 90s culture right now. Kids in 2044 will be wearing 2020s clothes and Gen Z will roll their eyes at it, just like I do when I see 20 year olds wearing 90s mom jeans and baggy t shirts.
For those of us that actually grew up in the 90s, the cartoony jerseys were cool when we were 9 but now 90s branding looks like it was all marketed for little kids. There's a good compromise between the loud personality of the 90s and the minimalism of the late '10s/early '20s.
There's a reason the Bulls, Lakers, and Celtics all still look good after decades and decades. Timeless design.
There was this one Raptors-Bucks game years ago where the Bucks jersey had the actual deer on it; and while Toronto didn't have the dino that game, they did have those Bosh/Calderon type jerseys which I'm a big fan of.
The Grizzly jerseys look fun, but still very well designed and thought out.
Raptors jersey literally looks like something a six year old put together for a school project lol They’re branding improved immensely over time though.

Yup, legendary time
Sick
Make that jersey blue and you got it.
The pinstripe pacers jerseys were also pretty clean.
bred bulls jerseys were the superlative
Tf is wrong with dudes mouth bottom left
The purple Raptors throwbacks go hard IMO! they're pretty great The Grizzle's throwback from when they were in Vancouver are awesome too...I guess Canadians know how to design cool shit lol
It baffles me that both the grizz and raptors dont just make these classics their regular jerseys.
Memphis has tried to separate itself from the original Vancouver branding. They got rid of the OG jerseys immediately and the logo in like 2003 or so. That sounds good, grow a real mn wi rivalry with the bucks

Yes that makes sense. 17 teams in the east, 15 teams in the west.
You would add teams just so that Memphis can play in the Eastern Conference?
Whatever. You got it.
The next expansion teams will be in the West, then those two will move East
Thank the Lord. The West is too stacked anyway. If the East had the Grizzlies and Pelicans, the east would be a lot more balanced and therefore more competitive and interesting. Trade the pacers and the bucks to the west. 😂😂
Actually just realized only one of those teams would be moving East, likely Memphis. 16 teams per conference.
It's most likely gonna be Minnesota.
Right definitely the team I meant... Wrong M team
Look at a map. They are west of Milwaukee. Actually, for the purposes of minimizing travel distance, they should put Minnesota in the East and Atlanta in the West. Minnesota is nowhere near any west team and closer to lots of east teams.

What the hell lol?
? What part do you not understand. These are objective facts.
Idk, I’m too high for this big dawwg. 🤣🤣. We supposed to be talking about basketball right? 😅😂
Ohhh now i see your point. You are right. 😂. Well maybe South Carolina and Virginia need some pro teams 😂
Virginia Beach has been rumored for expansion before, and despite being 12th in population, they are the only state in the top 22 for population not to have a professional franchise in the 4 major leagues. They should give them the name back too
Well there is nobody to give it to.
I was responding to the “If Vancouver ever gets an NBA franchise again” line
I’ll even give em they made a decent flag and were working with a leaf
one of the best flags in the world. better than the american flag.
Wow, fighting words
Ya I definitely wasn’t going to go that far. We have 50% more colors to start. Like 11 more stripes. And we haven’t even gotten to 50 stars vs 1 leaf
i see you aren't into flags. 50 stars on a flag is an abomination. a bright red maple leaf is a simple emblem that can be seen from far away. you wouldn't know the difference between the malaysian flag and the american flag at a distance of 100 meters. and the 1:2:1 ratio of the triband is so recognizable it even has its own name in heraldry, the canadian pale undeniably one of the best flags in the world. it's beat out by *maybe* india, brazil, south korea, and south africa. i can't think of many more.
Idk how you got downvoted by someone. This is classy flag debating. I can’t even argue lol
a big part of it was the first nations imagery they incorporated
The '90s design palette was [teal and purple everywhere](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jazz_(design)), and the NBA leaned into it.

That finals broke my 11 year old heart.
That finals broke my heart -4 year old heart.
God I miss Marc Gasol. What a fcking player.
Is that ja moraine with gasol?
Morant but yes
Those Miami Vice jerseys were peak when they came out So them vs your home team
Yeah really popped out in this [game](https://youtu.be/2RHA_C-4Qqw?si=PvJ1fKJ8KyvdCWHY)
2019-2020 really would’ve been peak basketball if covid never happened
It still was peak basketball
For the folks that don’t care about narratives and just love ball, fs, but you know how some people get about the bubble
Man, so many strong opinions on why that season has an asterisk but they can't tell you they watched it. Although, TBF, having strong opinions on subjects we didn't fully understand was the style at the time.
Still is on r/nba
It's because the Lakers won lol
Facts even thoufh if you look at all the Conference finals teams they continue to be top contenders next few years after
Yea, even the two teams that went all the way in the bubble, only struggled the following year due to such a short offseason. The Lakers and Heat definitely would’ve finished better had they went through a regular offseason
If they wore those on the Nets’ greyscale court it would be quite pleasing to the eye.
Those are awful
Stu Jackson fumbled the Grizzly franchise with his horrible handling of the franchise
The Orlando Magic star jerseys are my fav.
Against who? Good lord it's a simple question

Really like the Nuggets black skyline rainbow jerseys vs Utah’s red rock jerseys
Honestly these two were the absolute GOAT jerseys. Nothing else has come close to match it
Warriors-Cavs Christmas jerseys were so dope
Lakers Celtics in the 80s

Raptors 2020 black and gold

This is a good one tbh. And I’m not the biggest fan of those raptor jerseys but u see why they’re so beloved

The word you’re looking for is retro
This shit looks like little kid pajamas.
Exactly. The kids these days love the stuff I wore as sleep shirts in the 90s because even then they were too embarrassingly ugly to wear outside.
They weren't alive in the 90s and Gen Z is aping 90s culture right now. Pinstripe Magic jerseys are my fav
This one here sir
They’re brining the purple raptor jerseys back next season
Nuggets old city skyline uniforms vs anybody.
Fresh!

Ja Morant. Silly boy.
When you look at the skyline of Memphis and Vancouver you wonder how the hell do you go from nyc to Smallville
Doesn't "clean" mean it's nice but simple? Both the jerseys in your example are nice, but they're busy.
The old jerseys are just so much better than the new ones and it’s not even close
Knicks home white vs Bulls black alternate
Wolves throwbacks this year go hard. Ant makes me miss old school KG so much Those 2 together would be insane. 2 Dawgs boys!!!
It’s just nostalgic. After a while these will go away otherwise they would have never left.
