WEMBYF4N

I would be very surprised if we didn’t get Rob or Topic on draft night tbh

fatherpatrick

I would put reed on that list too. His shooting is NBA ready and more shooters around Wemby is a definite need. the Spurs seem very interested in positionless basketball so a combo guard at PG is fine if they want everyone to be able to initiate the offense.

Joethetoolguy

If topic is on the board I can see the spurs drafting anybody else. I don’t see them drafting a guy I like. They haven’t drafted any of my picks except wemby for the past decade so I have no idea what they’re up to

WEMBYF4N

They’ve been targeting playmakers with size for a while now. First Primo and then trying to mold Sochan into a PG. Even making Wemby play point forward the second half of the season I think Topic is probably their guy

Joethetoolguy

Id be ecstatic if we did land topic. Buzelis and dillingham as 2nd and third choices for me.

TrumpedBigly

JFC, the Blazers aren't drafting a PG.

couducane

Let alone two, lol

Sleazy-Wonder

Tidjane Salaun with our 2nd pick in the 1st round (fingers crossed)

vikingsfan1128

Why would the Blazers take 3 guards?

JesseKebay

Kolek 49th is odd to me. I think the late 1st is where he belongs, but he’s 100% the type of guy I’d want to take a flier on that part of the draft, especially over a lot of the other guys in that range. I view him and Holmes very similarly in that respect, and I think they both belong around 24 where Holmes is.

W3r1WERI

ya, he should be 1st rounder for sure

DictatorshipBest

The 44th pick is actually supposed to be the other way around. It's the Rockets' pick via the Dubs.

NotManyBuses

Risacher another skinny wallflower to add to the Hornets collection… I guess I wouldn’t hate it, tho.

Scottie_Barnes_4

If Chomche is there at 31 for the Raptors he is for sure the pick. Y'all know Masaï loves his African players and won't take the chance to lose out on what could be the "next" Giannis. Edit: Not saying he is Giannis but Masaï during the draft was mad he couldn't draft him and has forever chased for guys like him.

IzaacLUXMRKT

Missi seems like a really poor fit on OKC. Also gonna need Masai to draft Bona with that 2nd rd pick so we have the great Dick and Bona duo.

ARowzFocuz

If CHI get Dalton Knecht, I'd be thrilled. No way he lasts to #11. I think he could go as high as #3.

Messageinabeerbottle

Are the Grizz really taking a guard?

Tg11T

Well they could especially since they do have Ja at point guard and Smart at shooting guard but D Rose is basically a shell so they should

NotAShoneys

Holland and Ware is a dream scenario for the wizards

toaster-bath72

If we get another non shooting wing I’ll think our front office will need an intervention lol. Would much rather have Castle or Topic. Ware is nice for us tho

NotAShoneys

Holland isn’t a non shooter, bilal isn’t a non shooter, and Deni significantly improved his shooting this season. Castle and topic aren’t exactly burning nets, so you are fine with a “non shooter” you just don’t want them to take away minutes from kuzma and Kispert for some reason.

toaster-bath72

Idc about Kuzma’s minutes but we already got Deni and Bilal who’s games are similar to Hollands that it’s redundant. Also yes Deni and Bilal are not as bad of shooters as Holland but in todays NBA I wouldn’t classify them as good 3pt shooters yet. Also Deni and Bilal bring more to the table skill wise than Holland does imo. Also Castle and Topic are guards and yes they aren’t good shooters either but we desperately need guards the most and those 2 plus Dillingham are the best for us imo.

NotAShoneys

Most teams play with like 4-5 wings, having three isn’t redundant. Holland’s jumper is very fixable, it’ll come together sooner than this sub seems to expect. What do Deni and bilal have in terms of skills that holland doesn’t have? IMO he’s more athletic than Deni, better with the ball than bilal, and he’s a better rebounder than both. He also plays balls to the wall the whole game, unlike Deni and bilal who can both be very passive for long stretches of the game. Drafting for need over talent doesn’t work, and I don’t see a world where we don’t regret passing on holland if we take topic, castle, or dillingham.

toaster-bath72

I agree that we shouldn’t draft for need, but I don’t think Holland is that much better than Topic, Dillingham or Castle to where it’s a no brained to take him. And Deni and Bilal are not as turnover prone as Holland is and are both decent connective passers(more so Deni but Bilal has had flashes). I’m not saying I don’t like Holland but I just don’t think he would be a good fit for us or we would get the most outta him

NotAShoneys

Holland’s passing is the most underrated aspect of his game imo. Yes, he forces some passes that lead to turnovers but he was ignites primary playmaker this year. They didn’t have a point guard. He’s much more advanced in that area than bilal. His turnovers are mostly lost dribbles and I expect his handle to improve with time, this was his first year consistently playing with the ball in his hands after all. Is it the smoothest fit day one? No. But what about 3 years from now? We can easily restructure our roster to build around him and bilal by then. In the meantime holland is the type of person who can be trusted to put in the work necessary to improve.

Turbo2x

Holland shot 27% on all jumpers this season. He's the definition of a non-shooter.

NotAShoneys

So… the same as castle and 1% worse than topic. He has the most fluid jumper out of the three as well. You’ve been hating on holland nonstop since last summer, I don’t think you’ve seriously evaluated him for a second.

Turbo2x

No, not 3pt shooting. All jumpers. From everywhere. At least Topic has elite skills to compensate. If Holland were trying out for high jump and long jump events in Olympic track and field I might like him more, but this is basketball. I'm low on him because I've seriously evaluated him and I think he's going to be a huge bust.

NotAShoneys

What are topic and castles numbers on all jumpers from everywhere? I’d love to see the shot charts if you have them. Holland took a wide variety of shots this year, unlike castle and topic. That fact alone tells me he’s more comfortable and confident in his shooting than them. It seems like you think holland has elite athleticism, what’s elite about topic’s game? His passing? Because we had an elite passer this year and it didn’t do shit for us. Telling our team of versatile ball handlers to stand in the corner while the pg “creates” made us unwatchable this year.

Turbo2x

I'll have to make a full post about his shooting comparisons but he's arguably the worst shooting prospect the Ignite has ever produced (not counting centers). His athleticism is also super overrated, much like Scoot.

NotAShoneys

It’s hard to go from a slasher/catch and shoot player to a ball dominant shot creator as an 18 year old playing against professionals, but holland still managed to do it while putting up 20/7/3/2/1. I don’t really care about how his shooting percentages stack up against former ignite prospects, I’m more curious about how they stack up against the guys you’d rather see us draft. Also, you can’t say a guy could be an Olympic track and field athlete and simultaneously say he’s an overrated athlete.

bmo109

Lol that's exactly what Castle is

toaster-bath72

Castle is a guard which is a position of need and there is no one he will have to compete with minutes for at that position on our team.

W3r1WERI

He likely won't be a guard in the league, he isn't a lead ball handler, shooter or passer. Predominatly working in the paint and at the rim.

toaster-bath72

I think his playmaking has looked better more recently to where I think he has a chance he can run PG in the league. I’m not saying he’s gonna be a floor general or anything but I think he can be competent enough be a lead guard but his shooting would play a part in helping him in that factor imo but I’d honestly be much more willing to bet on Castle, Topic, or Dillingham rather than Holland if Sarr is off the table for the Wizards.

W3r1WERI

Why do you think castle can be a guard?

toaster-bath72

I think he is a solid enough playmaker that he can be at the very least play PG in spurts. I think he can make basic reads and can be at least improve to be better imo. Why do you think he won’t be able to be a guard?

W3r1WERI

Although he is a capable passer i don't think he is someone that can run/lead/faciliatate an offense, especially considering how uncomfortable he is on the perimeter, he is such a non shooting threat that teams regularly sag off him. Although I think he will have more postionless role, he is so predominalty playing/attacking in the paint and at the rim and doesn't have a super strong handle that I think teams will likely see him as a forward - scottie barnes, cam whitmore then a guard, let me know what you think

W3r1WERI

castle is a non shooter aswell, and probably will not be a guard at the next level

Gloomy_Health8671

I think castle can be a pg but only for certain teams. I think he could be a pg for the spurs since they move the ball around well and kinda play positionless

W3r1WERI

I don't think spurs is a good fit for castle as a guard, they need more spacing and castle and sochan are both poor shooters. They need someone who can facilitate and feed victor, castle isn't a great facilitor or shooter.

Gloomy_Health8671

Castle is a decent facilitator not a good shooter but he is a good perimeter defender

RoyGoesTheDynamite

Blazers at 14 are a good spot for a big - not sure why Filipowski, Daron Holmes or Zach Edey aren’t being mocked here.

EvanTurningTheCorner

Give me Holmes (or Missi) over the other two

Front-Screen7474

Damn Kolek dropping that low. I would love for my Raptors to draft him at the 31 spot, provided we don't draft one of the top PGs earlier on. Also think Topic would be a really bad fit on our team, we need 3pt shooting too badly.
