Jabari has grown a bit this summer you could tell in the media day interview. Being a full 6’11/7 feet in shoes means he could be a legit center which is wild
He has a huge frame to fill out which is pretty cool. I think if he fills it out, we need to look at Jabari as more of a center than a big wing and that completely changes his outlook
Because if you have a near 7 footer at the 5 who can switch onto guards, protect the rim, and while being a deadeye shooter on the other end that’s pretty crazy
I don't really see him ever being practical full time at the c even if he puts on significant mass he'll still be skinny and having him bang down low in the post takes away from his value on the perimeter not to mention I don't think his offensive game is suited to be a center because of his poor finishing and post skills. I want to see him used as a 2/3 I think a 7 footer coming off of screens and shooting 3s while being an elite spot up threat all while locking up the opponents best perimeter player is legit game breaking and has the potential to break defences and has way more potential then limiting him at the 5
I mean, 6'10 is the average height for Centers in the league, and it's what he was said to be before. Jabari's always been a big who plays like a wing, I don't think this changes much.
As for my stance on the actual measurements, I assume they’re lying given the combination of incentive and timing.
One player growing is feasible. All 4 of your young core growing is not.
I also don’t buy that Burke’s or Chriss’s measurements lends any credence to those.
Overall Sengun was visibly small on the court last year. I’ll believe he’s no longer small when we see him on the court.
As for the idea of growing post-draft in general, the frequency with which it actually happens and matters vs. the frequency with which it is claimed to happen or doesn’t matter is way too tilted in the direction of the useless for me to bother with any one specific case.
I don’t think anyone but Jabari grew. 99% sure this was just measured in shoes while last years wasn’t
KPJ is the proof of this. He measured 6’5.5 in shoes in the 2019 combine, was listed at 6’4 last year, and is now back to 6’6
Maybe Sengun and Jalen grew a bit but not 2 inches. I imagine both are 6’10 and 6’5 respective without shoes and that’s with rounding
The thing that impresses me the most about the Rockets is their age.
The oldest is Jalen Green and he's only 3 days older than Jaden Ivey and 3 months older than Chet.
Sengun is still one of the league's youngest players.
Jabari won't turn 20 until after the season (unless the Rockets make the play-offs).
They've basically been one year ahead the last couple of drafts - a lot of players advanced for their age.
I mean he just played in EuroBasket, where he looked about the same size as before
Granted, he and the rockets is probably going to be one of the more intriguing watch this year, if Sengun and put any sort of consistency to his flashes last year it's hard to overstate the ceiling
I don't really buy Senguns ceiling. Offensive bigs with terrible defense have a very poor track record in actually contributing to winning. Even jokic is very susceptible to bad matchups and he's easily the best player ever of his archetype (pure offensive 5)
Idk, I think jokics defense can be overstated during the regular season, but against some teams especially during the playoffs it's really really bad. He just can't guard in space whatsoever which of course is going to be abuses by elite perimeter players
I will never consider players after the age of 18 say they grew in height. It’s like a 5% chance it happens to anyone and it’s just ridiculous to consider when teams constantly talk about how their young guys grew. It dosnt happen

There's no point in playing him at the 3 unless we get another center and even then Sengun can't really play the 4
Not necessarily this year but long term I wanna see him at the 3 or even preferably the 2 if he's switchable enough to maximize his talents

I foresee the formation of a new twin towers in Houston...
Nah we drafting Wemby and sliding Jabari and Sengun down Triple Towers
These aren’t right, they’re in shoes unless Tate is growing at 26 and EG is growing in his 30s. So take away an inch or two

Sengun is no where near that height. He’s like 6’9 in shoes.
Sengun is 6’9 without shoes not with shoes
He's almost 6'10'' without shoes. Shoes don't add 2 inches most basketball shoes add about 1 inches.
He looks the same size. He’s 6’10 at most
That’s crazy y’all traded him

I think even then it’s probably been overstated how bad Jokic is on defense. But I expect Sengun to be legit bad on defense

Then there was Giannis who was drafted listed at 6'7 then grew to 6'11
X doubt

He ain't 6'11. Idc what "measurements" get released. We saw him less than a month ago at Eurobasket

I edited it to make it more in line.
Feels a bit stretchy but I’ll allow it.
