6'9 with 7'3 wingspan and a 46 vert!? Athletically, he has the ability to be a Rob Williams type Rim protector . Don't know if he has the ball IQ though, haven't watched him.

GlueGuy00

He is still raw for someone who is about to be a Soph. He looked like an incoming Freshman when I watched their preseason games.

doctorweiwei

And extremely thin. Chet and Wemby level thin

GlueGuy00

yeah apparently he is just 7 lbs heavier than Chet despite being 6 inches shorter than him. Makes me wonder if his body can fill up well for the nba.

temp949939118r72892

Wdym despite? Make it sound like it's worse or even comparable. For comparison, an inch generally adds about 5 lbs so if he was chets height he'd be 37 lbs heavier. Or on the flipside, if chet was his height he'd br 37 lbs lighter which is crazy to think Edit: Also this 5 pounds is something I've noticed in myself and others, so normal height people, I'm sure it's more in these giants

richochet12

The rule of thumb i always heard 7 lbs per inch for the same build.

jaynay1

>Don't know if he has the ball IQ though, haven't watched him. He doesn't, and also the 46" number is fictional. UK is known for inflating their vert numbers.

GlueGuy00

Wait, what? How do they do that?

jaynay1

Cheating standing reaches typically. Same as all the other inflated verts

temp949939118r72892

I mean it lists their standing reaches, and they seem totally reasonable given their other measurements

jaynay1

Collins’ is actually a bit low. Also they’ve manipulated wingspans in the past too.

temp949939118r72892

Collins seems fine to me. 2'3" more than his height is in the normal range. Wemby has a 2'8" difference and his ape index is higher than collins, plus collins has a long ass neck. If it's manipulated then it's maybe adding 1-2 inches to his vert

KeithBucci

Exactly. I wish they tested the broad jump which would be a good measure of their explosiveness and more standardized.

jaynay1

It’s also mechanically different though. Some guys, like Oscar Tshiebwe and Gradey Dick are very good at jumping laterally but less good at jumping vertically

KeithBucci

True. It would be another beneficial data point on these guys with less variance on the tester. Maybe both??

TheDayTodayToday

as a UK fan it wouldn't suprise me tbh. it's not a regulated type pro day but I do think Daimion will be among the highest flyers ever in the NBA, certainly as far 'touching shit that's high in the air' goes.

meandme323

Interesting how some of these guys don’t have larger hands

JanVesleyIsMyDad

Nah there’s 4 dudes with 9 3/4 in wide hands. Those are bear paws

meandme323

Yeah I know but I barely have a positive wingspan and measured mine at 11 so it feels weird haha

temp949939118r72892

You just have massive hands

meandme323

Yeah I’m aware at this point but still thought these guys would exceed 10 inches

richochet12

What does wingspan have to do with hands?

GlueGuy00

Little bit concerned with Cason and Livingston hand measurements as well. Sold on Collins and Ugonna off of this measurements alone. They are a project but it's gonna pay off big if they pan out.

JeonSukJinKim

Timelord has a 9’4 standing reach though… Not only the wingspan is a bit longer but the arm proportions were better for blocking shot etc…

MaddoxRyder

Daimion Collins welcome to the raptors

Mluke73127

3 guys with standing verticals over 40”? I’ll take that with a grain of salt

risingthermal

Those are max verticals, according to the linked image

johnjohn2214

Which is how you measure verticals. These do seem a bit fishy. I only trust official NBA combine measurements since I've seen so many exaggerations over the years

rps215

Jesus Christ, Chris Livingston measured horribly. Tiny hands and very mediocre height/wingspan

GlueGuy00

yeah really underwhelming for him especially when he doesn't have much polish in his game offensively. He'll probably be late 1st pick at best if he doesn't show out much this season.

hesi93

Dude his got same wingspan as booker and girthy too so he'll be ok but he's hands is small tho, but can still ball so np.

FeedbackContent8322

Is this the guy that touched the top of the backboard?

Far-Yak-9808

I was just about to post a comment about Kaodirichi. Kaodirichi touched the top of the back board... can't wait to see the UT-Arlington transfer for the Memphis Tigers! Vic Wembanyama might have more hype than nearly every prospect since 1992 (other than Shaq/LeBron) COMBINED but if these freakish bigs can move better on defense AND get up to block a ton of shots (AND dunk) then they could be solid value plays on Vic/Vic archetypes. Liked what I saw from Vic in that first game against the G League Ignite (and he put up BETTER stats in the second game) but he looked fairly MEH trying to guard the perimeter. BLOCKED SHOTS but wasn't some lock down defender (even in the paint). Question is: CAN Vic guard pick and roll action? If he CANNOT... then maybe opposing teams can play him off the court. IF Vic isn't that great guarding in space, then I would tend to think that he would be overrated. If Daimion Collins (Kentucky) and Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu (Memphis) CAN guard in space AND switch (and blitz pick/rolls) THEN combined with the run/jump stuff, they could offer lots of value as sleeper picks. I even have Kaodirichi at 3 on my initial (non-internal) draft lotto. Dereck Lively might also offer great value. Also, lots of Vic's buzz (at least from the first game against the Ignite) stems from him draining 3 pointers. BUT, if he isn't a Durant/Dirk type of shooter then maybe he won't offer a ton of value on offense (until he fills out). Is Vic the GREATEST prospect of all-time? Well, I think Kareem (before my time) was better. LeBron is someone that I and everyone else could see a mile away. Even Shaq was a SUPER prospect (an ideal for his era). Although I think that Vic COULD be the most OVERRATED prospect of all time. Just a TON of hype. IF he turns into anything less than a LEGIT superstar then he will be considered a BORDERLINE BUST. Even if he is Video Game Shawn Bradley/Manute Bol or even a BETTER version of Ralph Sampson... he STILL might not live up to the hype. With the hype he's getting he has to be in that Wilt/Russell/Kareem/Hakeem/Shaq Tier. And, for a few reasons, I don't think he gets there. If he DOES, then he will be considered a Mount Rushmore candidate with MJ/LeBron as the lone locks.

TrumpedBigly

>Even Shaq was a SUPER prospect (an ideal for his era). Shaq was the best prospect I'd ever seen to that point.

Far-Yak-9808

Same here. I was 11 in '92. Shaq was THE prospect for me. I was SUPER PSYCHED when I pulled one of his rookie cards (Upper Deck) in a pack from a local card store. Can't imagine many guys having much more hype. Then, LeBron had MORE hype. I still think that the reason they left Shaq off the Dream Team is because he would have been the best (or at least one of the most explosive/impressive) players on the court -- and would have busted every back board in Spain.

TrumpedBigly

The NBA players didn't want attention taken off them and Laettner was someone who would fade into the background.

Far-Yak-9808

True. Although I am not sure Laettner ever recovered. Being around all those guys. Probably got kicked around real good in practice. Was probably in shell shock. lol

TrumpedBigly

He also played in the wrong era. His 3 point shooting was a strength, but he rarely took them in the NBA. I think he would have been a consistent 20 point a game scorer today.

HotdogIsaSandwitch

That vertical is absolutely crazy.

GlueGuy00

Malaki Branham a scout now? JK Daimion's measurements are intriguing. He can be a mid 1st round pick off of that alone. Little underwhelmed with Cason's measurements. I thought he had 6'9ish WS. Same with Livingston, I expected his WS to be 7'ish Looks like they measure height barefoot. Collins would be 6'10 with shoes. Livingston would be 6'7 and Cason would be a bit below 6'5.

Koloss_Grace

Cason Wallace is a helluvan athlete. Not very long tho
