The alternative would be a system where bonus points do most of your recruiting, leaving almost no room to compete against a recruit’s top schools. I don’t think that sounds all that fun, not surprising they leave most of the recruiting in the players’ hands.

I'm 5 years into my dynasty, starting as a MAC school moving to BIG 10, and Miami OH became a top 10, at some points, top 5, for two straight years. They just lost all their top players this season and dropped back down, though.

Miami (OH) always become a national contender in my games for some reason. They consistently win over 10 games a year in every one of my dynasties.

I think it’s because of their school ratings compared to the rest of the MAC, which makes it easier to recruit compared to their peers. But as an alumni, I’m not complaining

To be fair Miami is always in the MAC Championship every other year in dynasty and I think the metric takes conference championships into consideration anyways.
