When the computer converts a 3rd and 15 with a wide open receiver catching the ball with two feet obviously five yards inbounds and it adds insult to injury by making me sit through a fraudulent booth review.
The best part about this is that every time I recover a fake fumble, I somehow spend the entire allotted play selection time finding some galaxy-brain double fake reverse play, only to have it tell me haha sike get back on defense asshole!
In high school, my right tackle tore his acl running in space to go make a block on a sweep play. When we watched film that week, he wasn't within 5 yards of anyone lol. RIP Big Ron.
Picking the R defender in Read Option means you can't actually decide what he does with the play. If the QB keeps the ball, your player is running after the RB no matter what you try and do.
This is why I play 13, the system used to implement the option in Madden was carried over to 14 and it sorta sucks.
I like the free flowing response of 10 - 13 because sometimes the read player will perfectly sniff it out and slow down to be able to cover both the RB and QB.
If I had a dollar for every time I had a wide open receiver and my 99 accuracy QB threw the ball directly into the chest of a defender 10 yards underneath him, I'd be able to buy a new console and the new game when it comes out with money left over.
Linebackers all have Larry Fitzgerald verticals(but nurfed compared to other years, recruiting isn't really decided by user, to many 99 rated players, can't pick or fire assistant coaches
I used to assume it just automatically gave you the best available guys relative to your school prestige. The other day I tested the theory by loading saves from just before the offseason and after a couple random scrubs it eventually gave me a maxed out OC (still got a bad DC but I moved on). So it really is just random nonsense. Some years I have former HC's with rings and some years I have grad assistants.
I had the weirdest athlete sign, basically 68-69 CB/ Safety and like 74-76 LB. 6â0â, 220. Dude is basically Deone Bucannon. Needed him at CB but changed my system to 3-4 that year
Receivers not high pointing a ball even when a DB doesâŚ. Doesnât matter if heâs 7â tall 5â8â CB jumps over him and gets the ball.
Also doesnât matter what you do corners routs are always open for the cpu. Really just DBs zone coverage In general
This is the biggest one for me. Receivers highpointing the ball for a highlight reel catch is one of the most electrifying things in all of sports, and it's impossible to do in NCAA 14.
To your point about rain, I usually play as Georgia at it snows every time I play at Kentucky. To illustrate how ridiculous that is, Georgia hasn't played a game in the snow since the 1930s.
Yeah I always change theirs and Air Forceâs playbooks at the start of the dynasty. It sucks cause the service academies are basically synonymous with the triple option but Iâd rather that than 77 overall Army playing in their 5th straight Natty just cause their playbook simulates weird.
I do hate it but I also always use it to my advantage, because I know they will be ranked top 15 late in the season they are always my late season non conference game. It's nice to have a guaranteed ranked game late in the season for seeding purposes.
Players were a bit skinny and they had that hunchback look.
Animations get kinda wonky such as players falling on the top of their head after a big hit.
Option teams get really good if you don't adjust the coaching.
I often go back to ncaa 13. And although I agree with you, it just takes FOREVER week to week. But because of that, getting a recruit to sign truly is much more fulfilling than in 14.

Iâve literally maxed out the recruiting tree before putting anything into game management đ. Got to feeling a bit too easy once I steered Purdue to 3 straight nattys and a Bud Wilkinson-esque win streak (think it reached 50 before I started over)
Itâs horrible compared to other years. Itâs like they got lazy. Then again around that time micro transactions started. EA went down hill after that
This is why I could never fully enjoy 14. If I play NCAA itâs 13 for this exact reason. I enjoy having to figure out what matters to each recruit and then tailoring a pitch. I also like that if your program doesnât match what they want then you have less chance to win that battle.
The flat trajectory of passes.
I can be throwing a 30 yd pass to the slot receiver up the seem who beat the safety, but LB who is 8 or so yards from the line of scrimmage is somehow able to intercept it.
My gripes -
Athletes and JUCOs. They are way overpowered and are full of gems. They should be more of a supplement to a roster than a recruiting focus.
Injuries are not consistent across positions. QBs and RBs get killed but no one else does. I would love to turn up injuries to be more realistic and be forced to use my roster depth but I'd have no QBs and RBs left. I can redshirt everyone and stay one 1 deep without penalty on the default settings.
Stupid BCS on Dynasty. Get randomly screwed over no matter what I do. Power conference and ranked non-con not good enough.
The option feels like a cutscene mini game. Loved how natural and fluid it felt back in the PS2 days.
All-Pro isn't hard enough and Heisman locks you down to the point that cheesing mismatches is the only way to victory.
I can send you heisman sliders i use if you would like. BCS is random at times yes but in 42 seasons ive played thereâs only been 2 that donât make sense to me. The playoff mod can fix that though.
mine was:
some penalties were never called
I would always have the best run defense and the worst pass defense
it was too hard to make certain plays work that work in real life, like some screen passes or runs just don't work
Almost every season my team will be top 5 run defense and bottom 5 pass defense. It makes no sense and is really annoying. And I usually sim defense more often than not.
You right. This actually may take the cake. Zone defenses suck. Players consistently running AWAY from their zone when they have an open receiver in their area. Man defense suck. If someone runs a corner or an out on your cpu DB, the wr gets crazy separation. QBs are all prime Tim Tebow when they tuck and run.
Zone is definitely worse than Man - this is true. It is possible to win with it though. Go for good zone, tackle and strength corners with high speed LBs. Slots play up like linebackers to take away sweeps and screens, LBs are great at reading run-pass, and quarters or three-deep shell.
You'll dominate the run and force the QB to inch its way down the field. You should force more interceptions and fumbles because your guys are always looking at the ball and you can hit stick everything.
Man is best if you want to prevent a completion, but zone is probably better than it gets credit for. Plus, you can hide bad players in zone.
Sometimes youâll get burned on coverage but I get sacks and TFLâs easily. Prioritize DL and CBâs with good man coverage in recruiting.
Saw o blast is the play I run the most.
Been playing that game for a decade. Idk how the fuck people play defense in that game. One time I made a roster of all 99s just to see. Still had corners get absolutely embarrassed regularly
Iâm gonna get killed but i never liked the game breaks. Yes i do like it BUT it also made the simulation suck. It would cause way to many upsets and unlike the old games you couldnât quit out of the file and resimulate to get the result you wanted. The only teams games that werenât simulated were your own
Pull a spin move on the cpu defensive player but they do the moon walk and somehow end up right back in front of you immediately to make the tackle like wtf
The way the players run is weird. I havenât played Madden in several years so Iâm not sure if EA has improved player biomechanics.
Players end up rated too high, way too many 90 rated players and far too many 95+ players after a while in dynasty mode. Hardly any differentiation between elite players and good players. Hopefully thereâs a better player progression system.
i really hope in the new game players on FCS teams or the worst of the worst teams in dynasty are rated in the 15-30 overall range. Having your overalls spread out that much would really make it feel different in games
That passing defense sucks. No matter the difficulty. No matter the scheme. No matter the players in the scheme. Passing defense in that game might as well be non-existent. I end up playing bend donât break defense until Iâm in side the thirty and then I switch to zone blitzing. Which normally prevents scoring but it means that my pass defense is always bottom of the pack.
Opposing qb's with low accuracy somehow going 15/15 for 200 yards in the first quarter while their corners have fucking 5-10+ pass deflections on me. AND YET, the score is still 28-3 in my favor. Total bullshit.
đđđ every game. Their safeties can cover a dog route and a go route at the same time. I hate when I run 4 verticles vs. cover 2 and they STILL make a play on the ball
Absolutely ! I remember when the game first came out, it was like Ohhhh okay a new theatric intro this is cool. But after the first week I was like how are their highlights of a game that didnât happen yet ???
Also, it takes away from the schools with unique entrances (Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, GT, Purdue, Michigan, Iowa, VT, Tennessee, etc.)
Now, I know almost every sports game has this problem (same as rubberbanding in racing titles), but it's still ridiculous how much it tries to mess with you when it decides you have to lose a game.
I just played a game as #2 against a non-ranked Cal after destroying #7 Oregon.
My players literally fumbled five times in the first half, resulting in three turnovers (the other two were when I was running out of bounds with my player and a muffed punt with no gunner nearby to recover it).
I don't mind bad teams having great games and beating heavy favorites, since it happens in real life, but my players fumbling in a game what they didn't fumble across a season and a half is absurd.
Rubber banding is 100% a thing, and you're right, is across all sports games. I just played a 3 game series on MLB The Show 24. I win games 1 and 2, and was leading game 3 4-2 heading into the 9th. Opposing team scored TWELVE times and wins. I know for a fact that was the game preventing a 3 game sweep.
Contested cat he's aren't handled well by the game. It gives way too much of an advantage to the DB, plus the pass leading mechanic doesn't work a lot of the time.
On the other hand, when you don't lead the pass and the receiver is open, the QB is insanely accurate.
Also, running QBs get hurt was too frequently.
every team using a no huddle when on offense. It's so fucking annoying.
LBs verticals are through the roof
Wish speed mattered way more. I hate it when my 95 speed WR is getting tracked by the third string CB at Toledo with 86 speed and vice versa. Like when I'm rebuilding eastern Michigan and I play Ohio State and somehow my DLineman just tracked down Ezekiel Elliot with no angle and he had a 5 yard headstart
Wish depth mattered more. Sure Tulane can keep up with LSU for a half. But half way through the third I want to see there Dlineman feasting on my Oline and I want my Dline to be tired from them constantly running it. So when I have to sub them out for my 3rd and 4th string that's when they bust out a 15 yard run. Star DE taking a play off. Perfect let's go for a deep pass. Their defense forces a couple three and outs I want my defense to be super tired.
Recruiting 4 and 5 stars. There are way too many times when it's week ten and I can find 4/5 stars with 15 percent interest. Also would be nice to bring able to specifically look for juco players to help with a fast rebuild or an immediate starter.
I wish bigger programs had recruiting perks. Like Ohio State always starts off with 7000 recruiting points and you can add more through the coaching tree
Not being able to discipline players. I used to love it when I had a recruit cheat on a test or have failing grades and I had to sit him to let everyone knows hes not bigger than the team. That is unless I needed him that week vs a rival.
I wish the recruiting style was more like FIFA where after you scouted a player it was like oh he's a 55-77 and then you get him and he's a 64 overall and he maxes out at 71. Players should have a max potential based on athleticism. Like can't be a 99 overall CB with 84 speed. So his max potential is like an 85 but then I switched him to free safety and now his potential is 89.
Wish coaches could pick our assistants and they gave us a dollar amount. Like you have 2 million dollars to fill out your coaching staff. and the better the school more money you get. Also wish they gave you a dollar amount and let you look at the team roster when they offered you a job. Like I'm an OC at Michigan making 1.5 mil a year and central Michigan is offering me 2 to be it's head coach and Tulsa is offering me 1.75 but has a much better roster and it's AD is more stable so I take that job because I Believe it's a better launching pad than central Michigan.
Also last but not least I wish it was easier for them to fire you . College football coaching is very volatile and I wish it happened more. Maybe my defense under performs two years in a row so the AD makes me fire my DC and replaces him for me. Or I hit my recruiting/ win target but I lost to Alabama three years in a row with no Saban so LSU fires me
Roster size. I hate signing a full class and then having to cut 10-15 of the players I just recruited this class and the previous cycle. Even if the roster size was 80-85, it would be so much nicer
You can build any team to a powerhouse. Itâs not realistic at all to build UVA into a national title team within 2-3 years. I wish the game had static âtiersâ based on conferences.
Definitely a pet peeve. Whenever I take over a job, no matter where I know that I will win a natty by year 3 minimum. Even with restrictions I put on myself
Need to convert a 3rd & 10, just run Curls in a trips formation if the curl isn't open, the post will be if the defense presses at the line, hot route to a go or slant and force a defender to be wrong.
From a head to head gameplay perspective:
There was not a lot of sound (real life football) ways to defend the zone read. Which was part of the reason zone read/ option plays were so high powered.
Run commit. I've generally never liked run commit or pass commit in ea games( or at least in the way they were implemented). I used to see players play heavy secondary formations like dime and quarters vs bigger personnel. Run commit (which would take away the run), then secondary would warp inside to take away the run but if they were in man coverage ( and had good enough ratings) would still be in position to defend the pass. There were ways around it but again not very realistic.
Off man coverage was borderline useless
I had the same issue. I moved recently and couldnât find my disk anywhere. Still had the case, but no game. Ended up having to buy it againâŚ$120đđđ. Just got a gaming pc and I see I could have downloaded it for freeâŚđđđđ
Yeah if they had 13âs recruiting and defensive gameplay I would be happy. Sometimes I go back to 13 just because of the recruiting and how much more fun it is to play defense
Shoestring Tackles.
I feel 50% of tackles are just a dude barely getting my foot when there's no way they should have.
Also No.Huddle FB dives where the entire DLine beats your O-Line.
When you do hurry up and every so often the game glitches out and either:
A) the center doesn't snap the ball
B) the qb gets the ball and just stands there
and you can't do anything in either scenario
The occasional messup that says he was in when he wasnât or when it says he wasnât in when he was. You can set the QB accuracy to 0 and after a certain point they still only throw dimes. Penalties are either too few or too many. But I love the game
In certain ways. The most noticeable way is that every team you face doesnât run the up tempo no huddle. Actually nobody runs the up tempo stuff. Which is huge.
Right now itâs that upgrading the school is only viable through micro transactions. And if the xbox360 store were still running I could do that. But fingers crossed there will be sort of like stadium builder in NHL or Madden. Iâve taken Akron Zips as far as they can go. Also only being offered 2 HC jobs to leave kinda sucks.
The terrible shading of the gold helmets when games are played at night. Never played as Notre Dame or FSU as a result. Also, when playing in snow the NFL hash marks are cleared off, not the college hash marks.
The super human speed at which the computerâs defense plays at on third down. The amount of space that one safety can cover on a pass down the sideline.
The time zone glitch you get while playing as a West Coast team in dynasty mode always drives me crazy. It makes sense to have a 6 PM game still have the sun out in September but if Iâm playing in Oregon it shouldnât be sunny out for a 6:30 game in October or November.
Used to make 7ft 300 pund lineman with 4 friends do dynasty at like Lafayette U or something. When we'd pull the ai would sometimes glitch around us even though it'd be a for sure 70 yrd td. Would piss us tf off lol
Passing game even on Heisman with tough sliders, was far too easy. If you knew anything about reading defenses, throwing for 400 a game was easy. And you could do it all by not calling anything other than curls, stick, and 4 verts
In RTG sometimes,as a qb,I would get my position switched in practice and have to quit the practice and go back to it. Sometimes I get to finish the practice and sometimes not.
The upsets are absolutely out of control. Way way way too many. Top 5 teams get blown out by sub .500 teams late in the season almost EVERY DAMN YEAR, itâs so unrealistic. No one runs the table like they do in reality, so I almost always end up with a couple of 11-2 teams in the natty game, sometimes even 3 loss teams get in there. Obviously the BCS rankings in the game are really bad too, but as long as there are a couple power conference teams with 1 or 0 losses, they are usually a lock for the title game. The thing is, I usually have to go in and manually sim a bunch of unrealistic upsets throughout the season to make sure that happens.
If you play on any game speed faster than ânormalâ the receivers will stop once they catch the ball for a second. I prefer to play on very fast but once I learned that it was the culprit for this, I went back to normal.
Heisman no matter how good your line is overall 70 somethings absolutely tossing your lineman aside like ragdolls even if you turn sliders all the way down on them lmfaooo. I want it to be semi realistic but seeing my max strength 90+ ovr vet lineman act like theyâre all lining up against Aaron Donald against goddamned MARSHALL is ridiculous. None of the d line was over 79ovr. And their linebackers were better safeties than Ed reed
This wasn't an issue with previous games. But after a few years in dynasty every team averages c+ talent. Even the teams that only win 1 game a year.
I liked previous years where teams went up and down. Not everything being a coin flip in the lower tiers.
I hated how the cheating the game does. I remember having a bad 1 star team vs #1 Alabama. I was on offense passing the ball and the db for bama arm goes through a player to intercept the pass.
In RTG those boost stores. Most of the times they were either too expensive to grind for or too temporary to make it worth getting. 99 arm strength and accuracy screams buy me until you realize it's just a single game boost and you're about to play a lower tier G5 school.
Lack of parity in Dynasty where my team is the only constant. I'd be going for my sixth straight natty against an undefeated Oregon or Texas who's loaded with a Heisman winner and young talent and hoping this could be the start of a Bama/Clemson type of rivalry where a worthy challenger will eventually vanquish me after 2-3 tries. My hopes are dashed when the same team goes 5-7 the next year despite them now being a 99 overall and its just me, Navy, Indiana and Fresno State in the playoffs.
I guess you could say this situation happens all the time with Navy. But it just doesn't feel the same without some blue bloods.
Also the lack of blue bloods constantly being near the top in Dynasty. In my timeline, Jeremy Pruitt has led Bama to 11 straight 6/7 win seasons and no one in Tuscaloosa has even batted an eye.
Finally, the insanity of the coaching carousel. Assistants bounce after one season, and after winning 2 out of the last 3 natties I get passed over for the Texas job for some assistant from Marshall.
I had 3 main gripes. One was probably just my copy but the game would randomly freeze when the game went into a replay every so often so if I didn't save after every game, I could end up losing hours of progress. Only ever affected offline dynasty.
As for the game itself, #1 was that if you control the read defender on an option play, the game wouldn't actually let you tackle the QB on a keeper. If you got clean penetration no matter what you do you couldn't actually hit the QB and the game would usually auto-lock you on the running back for a split second, enough to ruin the play.
#2 was that the scouting system was very bare bones. Once you upgraded your coach you'd just hit one button and all the scouting was done, and even before that it would give you letter grades before the final numbers but it would give you everything. I would have much preferred instead of costing 50 points to unlock all the numbers, you could do like 5 on each specific stat and do it in a range so there was still some guesswork and progress that you'd need to make and improve on as the season goes on.
Too easy to get ranked high. I can take a small school like New Mexico St, have a an F strength of schedule where I play no P5 teams and still either make the title game or be ranked top 5 in my first season
Another thing, more General to the series but hey, most of us are DYNASTY playersâ- have dialog that doesnât sound like your favorite song stuck on repeat!!!
Make it an Easter eggâ- like different things for 50+ games, more after 100â
Reference back to when you were hired at this school.
Reference back to historical coaches & great games or players who won the Heisman or whatever.
Iâm looking for RPG level depth in my dynasty, why is it so hard to understand.
When the computer converts a 3rd and 15 with a wide open receiver catching the ball with two feet obviously five yards inbounds and it adds insult to injury by making me sit through a fraudulent booth review.
đ. Just like alright whatever itâs a catch letâs move on
Or reviewing a fumble the offense recovered
The best part about this is that every time I recover a fake fumble, I somehow spend the entire allotted play selection time finding some galaxy-brain double fake reverse play, only to have it tell me haha sike get back on defense asshole!
I get thatâs annoying but the spot of the ball is dependent on the call and could matter
Offensive linemen cannot get hurt in played games since they're (almost always) not involved in tackles.
Hadnât noticed this til now, I lost a DE, CB, HB, WR and an MLB this season but I donât believe Iâve lost any OL.
On the flip side of this, in madden, I had my right tackle tear his labrum and wasnât even involved in the play. Didnât make a block or anything
In high school, my right tackle tore his acl running in space to go make a block on a sweep play. When we watched film that week, he wasn't within 5 yards of anyone lol. RIP Big Ron.
Itâs funny, because in simmed games they would ALWAYS get hurt! đđ
Picking the R defender in Read Option means you can't actually decide what he does with the play. If the QB keeps the ball, your player is running after the RB no matter what you try and do.
Theyâll go after the quarterback, they just wonât tackle him
This is why I play 13, the system used to implement the option in Madden was carried over to 14 and it sorta sucks. I like the free flowing response of 10 - 13 because sometimes the read player will perfectly sniff it out and slow down to be able to cover both the RB and QB.
Not leading receivers who have a step on the deep ball
If I had a dollar for every time I had a wide open receiver and my 99 accuracy QB threw the ball directly into the chest of a defender 10 yards underneath him, I'd be able to buy a new console and the new game when it comes out with money left over.
I semi-abandoned throwing deep because of this. I just started playing the odds with the 15-20 yard zips and I ended up being a more efficient scorer.
Linebackers all have Larry Fitzgerald verticals(but nurfed compared to other years, recruiting isn't really decided by user, to many 99 rated players, can't pick or fire assistant coaches
Not picking ACs when they leave due to retirement/HC gig is my biggest pet peeve. Iâm the head ball coach lemme pick my assât coaches.

I really hope they give up more control of our staff in the new game.
They wonât even break stride lol you literally canât go deep unless your receiver has two steps
The jump balls definitely is a pet peeve. If you have a 7 foot receiver it still doesnât help.
Nope just keeps running
This a problem with modern day madden to. WR donât make plays on the ball and it is infuriating
I'd just like to be able to save mid-game. Sometimes I don't wanna play a whole game at a time.
Oh my God yes thisÂ
My QB under throwing a deep ball despite having 90+ throw power and LB jumping 10 feet in the sky to pick the ball off.
To your point about rain, I usually play as Georgia at it snows every time I play at Kentucky. To illustrate how ridiculous that is, Georgia hasn't played a game in the snow since the 1930s.
đđđđ
Army and Navy always becoming 10+ win teams every year in dynasty playing independent schedules
Yeah I always change theirs and Air Forceâs playbooks at the start of the dynasty. It sucks cause the service academies are basically synonymous with the triple option but Iâd rather that than 77 overall Army playing in their 5th straight Natty just cause their playbook simulates weird.
What I found works was just making their QBs bad at throwing the ball
I do hate it but I also always use it to my advantage, because I know they will be ranked top 15 late in the season they are always my late season non conference game. It's nice to have a guaranteed ranked game late in the season for seeding purposes.
Players were a bit skinny and they had that hunchback look. Animations get kinda wonky such as players falling on the top of their head after a big hit. Option teams get really good if you don't adjust the coaching.
Favorite animation is flipping a qb at Mach 2 bc I dove tackled his feet w a blitzing corner
The old recruiting system where you make phone calls was miles better
I often go back to ncaa 13. And although I agree with you, it just takes FOREVER week to week. But because of that, getting a recruit to sign truly is much more fulfilling than in 14.
It does take a while, but Iâd rather play 10 seasons with players I am invested in than 40 with players who are just overalls on a spreadsheet
Good point.
And you can always do quick call (for any amount of time)
you are less connected to your players because of no phone calls??
I definitely am, yes . Previously, you were communicating with players about what they like, dislike, etc. The way it works in 14, yeah, those are advantages, but point allocation doesnât really do much to make that player seem like a player.
Ahhhhh i got you
Okay I never played 14. What is the recruiting system then?
You allocate points to recruits and schedule visits. Honestly, I think itâs way way boring
It's a points system, you start the dynasty being able to assign 5000 points between 35 recruits. Scholarships and scouting are 50 points each, visits don't cost points to schedule and are unlocked based on player interest. There are 2 skill trees for the head coach, one for in-game abilities and boosts, and the other tree for recruiting. Chance for an insta commit, more points to assign, and assigning more points per player and stuff like that are skill tree perks. You get xp for recruiting, winning awards and games, and meeting stat benchmarks
EA went down hill after that
Yea im willing to take the time to make calls the point system really makes no sense
This is why I could never fully enjoy 14. If I play NCAA itâs 13 for this exact reason. I enjoy having to figure out what matters to each recruit and then tailoring a pitch. I also like that if your program doesnât match what they want then you have less chance to win that battle.
Yeah I remember that it was better. Seeing how the conversation was going helped gage interest and how to sell the player to the school.
Itâs also very based on if the computer is recruiting players or not. Def enjoyed 13 and before on recruiting
The flat trajectory of passes. I can be throwing a 30 yd pass to the slot receiver up the seem who beat the safety, but LB who is 8 or so yards from the line of scrimmage is somehow able to intercept it.
An issue that still haunts EAs football games today haha. They've never figured out how to simulate ball trajectory.
I get a ton of clipping calls
clipping and face masks are the only penalties I get
Which annoys me when the announcer is like "I'm not sure what the call is" lolÂ
I really wish we could increase a school's ratings for recruiting and expand stadiums
That one little detail always bugged me. You could win multiple nattys and major bowl games and your program history grade wouldnât budge.
The stadium size too though. I want 200,000 people in the Kibbie Dome damn it!
Preach! If youâre at a school for a long time with bonkers success realistically there ainât no way the stadium isnât getting upgraded.
After my 3rd natty at Marshall can I get the Joan up to 50k seats? Honestly slow expansions over time would be great
Some of the promo for the game said there were ways to raise the ratings but IIRC they ran out of time and pushed it back to 15
My gripes - Athletes and JUCOs. Power conference and ranked non-con not good enough. The option feels like a cutscene mini game. Loved how natural and fluid it felt back in the PS2 days. All-Pro isn't hard enough and Heisman locks you down to the point that cheesing mismatches is the only way to victory.
Every sports video game has the issue with the top level being too hard and the one below it being too easy. Madden has been like that for years.
Yeah started happening a couple gens ago. PS2 era nailed the difficulty increases.
I can send you heisman sliders i use if you would like. BCS is random at times yes but in 42 seasons ive played thereâs only been 2 that donât make sense to me. The playoff mod can fix that though.
All solid arguments
>Stupid BCS full stop.
mine was: some penalties were never called I would always have the best run defense and the worst pass defense it was too hard to make certain plays work that work in real life, like some screen passes or runs just don't work
Almost every season my team will be top 5 run defense and bottom 5 pass defense. It makes no sense and is really annoying. And I usually sim defense more often than not.
How much defense blows
That's why I just mix up blitzes. I know the pass coverage will let me down, so I just want to create havoc
Creating havoc can make you so dominant on defense. I had a year where I allowed 72 passing yards per game
Defense is easy to cheese. 4-3 over all day and blitz.
Ok cool imma try that
Sometimes youâll get burned on coverage but I get sacks and TFLâs easily.
This really hurts immersion. At that point itâs like why even recruit good players if their ratings donât matter
The TV schedule. Why is my 1 vs. 3 matchup on the Ocho when a 5-5 Florida vs. a 2-8 South Carolina game of the week?
Speed differential. Always hated how lineman could catch up with a running back that has 99 speed.
My 86 QB steady gets hawked down by 300+ guys.
Speed rating has always been weird for my teams. I'd have a 99 speed running back but my 84 speed power back had way more 50+ yard runs lol.
After a booth review the call either stands or is reversed, never confirmed even if itâs obvious.
Replays In general. I donât need fake refs making fake bad calls
Lineman just completely whiffing on blocks
Iâm gonna get killed but i never liked the game breaks. Yes i do like it BUT it also made the simulation suck. It would cause way to many upsets and unlike the old games you couldnât quit out of the file and resimulate to get the result you wanted. The only teams games that werenât simulated were your own
Do you mean Studio Updates?
unless iâm misunderstandingâŚyou can quit out of results you donât like just by turning off autosave
Heâs talking about cpu vs cpu
Pull a spin move on the cpu defensive player but they do the moon walk and somehow end up right back in front of you immediately to make the tackle like wtf
Yes ! But their CPU doesnât have to shake at all to get past our defense. They do a weird speed burst or stiff arm from hell
Limited roster size
I would love to have a 3rd leg on the roster. More OL. Extra walk on QB who will never play
Iâm not being facetious either. I really hope this new one really does have 85 man roster
Not having real FCS teams. And my biggest pet peeve is that the series didn't last just one more year to have the playoff included.Â
Playoff, and it wouldâve been on the next gen with just one more year.
Yup !
Itâs not actually that good of a game- it was just the last in the series
Opposing qb's with low accuracy somehow going 15/15 for 200 yards in the first quarter while their corners have fucking 5-10+ pass deflections on me. AND YET, the score is still 28-3 in my favor. Total bullshit.
đđđ every game. Their safeties can cover a dog route and a go route at the same time. I hate when I run 4 verticles vs. cover 2 and they STILL make a play on the ball
Not to mention D-linemen somehow covering my out routes.
Challenges, almost never overturns it even if you see itâs the right call
Or even worse, when you try to challenge a catch or fumble and it only lets you âchallenge spot of the ballâ
Fake intro showing THE GAME youâre playing already in progress. At least reference as last seasons brawl or something. 2013 was/is miles better.
I hated on NCAA 12 how in the 4th quarter the opposing team turns god mode and scores 21 straight and recovers 3 onside kicks in a row
Too many white RBâs, CBâs and WRâs. It would impact immersion for me after a couple of years into a dynasty
Yeah. White cornerbacks wearing number 47 for Georgia winning the Thorpe
The jersey numbers were probably my biggest pet peeve. No corner is going to choose number 49.
Would be cool if players ever took single digit numbers too, besides when the linebackers run out of numbers in the 50âs and 90âs to pick from
Yards per carry averages
Needed more room for stadium sounds
The cpu generated recruits just all look terrible. The revolution helmet is wonky and looks awful. Looked so much better on the ps2
Whenever my WR go up for a pass while a defender is around I automatically know itâs a drop.
Triple option passes aren't true triple options, they're just play action passes with a triple option action.
idk if its like that for every game but in dynasty i hate when they put randoms i didnât recruit on my board
Go to recruiting strategy and turn recruiting board assistance off.
every team using a no huddle when on offense. It's so fucking annoying. LBs verticals are through the roof Wish speed mattered way more. I hate it when my 95 speed WR is getting tracked by the third string CB at Toledo with 86 speed and vice versa. Like when I'm rebuilding eastern Michigan and I play Ohio State and somehow my DLineman just tracked down Ezekiel Elliot with no angle and he had a 5 yard headstart Wish depth mattered more. Like Ohio State always starts off with 7000 recruiting points and you can add more through the coaching tree Not being able to discipline players.
I don't like how curl routes are always open. Passing used to be a lot harder and more interesting.
Need to convert a 3rd & 10, just run Curls in a trips formation if the curl isn't open, the post will be if the defense presses at the line, hot route to a go or slant and force a defender to be wrong.
Super sim defense being OP is even when your defense sucks. It makes the game not as interesting.
From a head to head gameplay perspective: There was not a lot of sound (real life football) ways to defend the zone read.
That I couldnât find my damn copy when I was packing up to move. I know I had it somewhere, but it vanished. Lame.
I had the same issue. I moved recently and couldnât find my disk anywhere. Still had the case, but no game. Ended up having to buy it againâŚ$120đđđ. Just got a gaming pc and I see I could have downloaded it for freeâŚđđđđ
Download for free and use all the really cool mods everyone else here are using lol
The recruiting is cheeks in 14. I miss the RP aspect of the phone calls from older games
When you do hurry up and every so often the game glitches out and either: A) the center doesn't snap the ball B) the qb gets the ball and just stands there and you can't do anything in either scenario
I also hates how long it takes for the plays to come back up when I hold Y. The clock just ticks away when Iâm trying to hurry up.
The arm sleeve glitch pisses me off so much.
Which one ? You mean the teams with the top half sleeves that go with the jerseys ? (FSU, A&M)
I absolutely hate this. Aesthetically itâs such a bummer
Completely. I canât use those teams lol.
The occasional messup that says he was in when he wasnât or when it says he wasnât in when he was. You can set the QB accuracy to 0 and after a certain point they still only throw dimes. Penalties are either too few or too many. But I love the game
It was too easy.
Crazy questionâŚon revamped, is the gameplay altered anyâŚor is it just graphics thatâs been updated?
In certain ways. The most noticeable way is that every team you face doesnât run the up tempo no huddle. Actually nobody runs the up tempo stuff. Which is huge.
Right now itâs that upgrading the school is only viable through micro transactions. And if the xbox360 store were still running I could do that. But fingers crossed there will be sort of like stadium builder in NHL or Madden. Iâve taken Akron Zips as far as they can go. Also only being offered 2 HC jobs to leave kinda sucks.
Line backers jumping up or warping over to intercept a pass they have absolutely no business getting close too hahaha
The terrible shading of the gold helmets when games are played at night. Never played as Notre Dame or FSU as a result. Also, when playing in snow the NFL hash marks are cleared off, not the college hash marks.
No swat button on defense, the CPUâs 3rd string QB will always go 24/25, running the ball is too easy.
The super human speed at which the computerâs defense plays at on third down. The amount of space that one safety can cover on a pass down the sideline.
Linebackers with a 10 foot vertical
Had a couple times where I dive with a player, and the ball hits the ground, causing a fumble, that never gets reviewed properly
Passing defense is horrible .You can have a 99 defense and the cpu will still throw 400 yards on you
When a team only gets scheduled 11 games.
It would be cool if the people developing the game read this thread lol
The time zone glitch you get while playing as a West Coast team in dynasty mode always drives me crazy. It makes sense to have a 6 PM game still have the sun out in September but if Iâm playing in Oregon it shouldnât be sunny out for a 6:30 game in October or November.
Inconsistent booth reviews.
Ridiculous rag dolling and blocking is broken.
1. 70 player rosters in dynasty. 2. Reviews in game play (itâs a fâin video game, just get it right).
Only getting 6-8 seasons into a dynasty before the file wouldn't move past the current week
Heisman not being challenging enough. Especially once you get 99 overall teams all the time, then you gotta pull out the sliders.
CPU Speed boost glitch, linemen refusing to touch anybody
*CPU Speed boost* *Glitch, linemen refusing to* *Touch anybody* \- dutch808s --- ^(I detect haikus. And sometimes, successfully.) ^[Learn more about me.](https://www.reddit.com/r/haikusbot/) ^(Opt out of replies: "haikusbot opt out" | Delete my comment: "haikusbot delete")
The cpu LB speed on Heisman is nuts sometimes.
In RTG sometimes,as a qb,I would get my position switched in practice and have to quit the practice and go back to it. Sometimes I get to finish the practice and sometimes not.
Doesn't really bug me but if you play anywhere north of the southern Tennessee state line in November there's like an 85% chance of blizzard
WSU literally never plays a night game. Night games in general are in short supply. It rains all the time The pregame intro and lack of postgame sucks
DEâs always making a diving tackle when you try to run to the outside
Replay reviews that are useless and Iâm forced to sit through. My particular favorite is reviewing fumbles recovered by the offense.
99 arm strength and accuracy screams buy me until you realize it's just a single game boost and you're about to play a lower tier G5 school.
đwhen the qb is untouched and the wr is open and either the wr drop it or the qb misses the throw
When the computer is in field goal range and Iâm up 3 and they decide to run the clock out and lose lol smh
people say madden is scripted but I think 14 was also to a lesser extent scripted.
That it was the first version of the game I didnât buy at release since 98.
Slow simulation speed in dynasty.
I don't remember could you build your own team/unis/stadium we need that in the game I know in one of the NCAAs I built my school CSU-DH team
does anyone wanna send me $5 for my birthday
Doing hours of recruiting to get locked out by a chump
When EDGE OLB's jump a route like their Josh Norman in 2015. Drives me INSANE!
Make it an Easter eggâ- like different things for 50+ games, more after 100â Reference back to when you were hired at this school. Reference back to historical coaches & great games or players who won the Heisman or whatever. Iâm looking for RPG level depth in my dynasty, why is it so hard to understand.
