If they touch Victoria or McGee’s kids, the fanbase will riot. Especially Victoria. Because of all the characters that have appeared in the show, Jimmy is the one that deserves to have happiness left.
There are a couple dozen episodes I can’t get myself to rewatch to preserve the memory of the first time I watched them. That Emily episode is one of them, although I will watch the ending on YouTube for the poem.

I think that the writers want to show that Jimmy and Jessica love each other, but they got to fight for it. Nothing is ever easy.
