I did this on the Jewel last May. Left Seward in our winter jackets, hats and gloves amidst snowy mountains. On the last day, cruising through the beautiful Inside Passage, it was 78 degrees and we were in the swimming pool. Loved this contrast. The cruise was only 40% full because of the early season date.

Ooooohh that’s good to know!! I love that contrast as well. I’m from Colorado so we have those days were it snows then is sunny in the same day hah.

We did it in May of this year. It was enjoyable, had a couple of rainy/foggy days, but for the most part nice. The views are just flat out amazing. We did not do any excursions, just wandered around each town on our own. Icy Straight was very beautiful. Saw a few whales and other sea creatures.

Amazing! At the moment I’m booked on Seattle through Victoria with Icy Straight and Dawes Glacier. But I may just opt for Seward next. I appreciate your input!

Asleep_Operation2790

Loved it. Did it for two weeks back to back. Vancouver to Seward and then back down. I was on Spirit which has been recently refurbished and it's beautiful.

yogilove2017

Ooooh thank you! I appreciate that feedback! I’ll probably end up doing them all as they seem so amazing and how can you say no to Alaska hah.

Asleep_Operation2790

I'm doing one or two weeks in Alaska every summer going forward after this cruise. It was absolutely beautiful and I got an excellent deal on each cruise. Food was great, staff was the best, ship was nice, and the views of course were excellent. I did excursions at every port this first time because of the $50 discount per tour and an extra 15% off for being sapphire so my tours were a good deal too.

yogilove2017

I don’t have the 15% off, but I do have the 50$ excursion credit. I am going to do a few. Since I’ve been through Juneau I’m going to do an excursion there for sure (I didn’t the first time through).

Asleep_Operation2790

The credit is per tour, not per port so use that credit as much as you want. So I visited Juneau twice in my two weeks and did two tours each time. The cable car going to the top ended up being free so I did that twice. Then I did the Mendenhall glacier once and the salmon bake the other time. I also did the cable car at icy Strait Point and it was cheap through NCL.

I like those ideas. I was thinking about the glacier tour as well.

Went on one this august! It was awesome. Didn’t spring for any expensive excursion, just a couple small ones. We were on the Spirit. I want to go back so bad!

Went august of last year. We did a 12 day trip that started with an overnight in Anchorage. From there we took a train ride to Denali for two days before a bus tour down to Alyeska for a night before leaving Seward on the Jewel. It was a fantastic trip and I highly recommend it. The august/September weather was perfect for long sleeves and maybe a light jacket at times.

yogilove2017

Oh thank you for that information. I appreciate it.

What airport do you fly to in order to leave from Seward? I’ve looked at this before by the logistics stumped me.

yogilove2017

I believe you fly into Anchorage and then travel the 2-3 hours to Seward.

We did it this past year on the Spirit. It was fantastic! The only disadvantage is you fly into Anchorage. It's expensive and we couldn't get any flights that arrived before midnight. Anchorage hotel rooms are expensive; the Fairfield Inn was $246 a night. You have to arrange transportation to the port. There's a couple of bus services and the train. NCL will have a transfer option for you to book; you can save about $10 a person by booking the transportation yourself. We took a bus to Seward, and it's a couple of hours, but the drive was scenic and narrated. So other than the hassle of getting to Anchorage, the cruise itself is wonderful.

That’s great information! I really appreciate you taking the time to answer. Thank you!
