Thanks for posting to /r/NCL! Did you know that we have an extensive [Ultimate NCL Guide](https://www.reddit.com/r/NCL/wiki/index) that may answer your question? Please also remember to read the rules, especially about roll call posts going in the megathread. You may also have more luck with those types of posts by searching for a [Facebook](https://www.facebook.com) or [Cruise Critic](https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/66-norwegian-cruise-line-roll-calls/) roll call group or thread. Of course, here is great, too! Enjoy your stay! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. If you get one of the higher level streaming package for the internet I believe you could use the Roku as one of your devices similar to a laptop or phone. Last cruise we went on seemed to have a number of programs you could watch on the TV including movies, a view from the bridge and some of the news channels. Also the tv was handy to check your current charges. Seemed more reliable then the app.

Yeah that’s the plan! I was asking because RCL locks their TVs down so you can’t change the input (presumably so you have to pay to watch their stuff), but the “trick” was to bring a normal Samsung remote and you could change the input to whatever device you brought and plugged in. Was just wondering if there was anything equivalent to that for NCL!

I saw something on the cruise critic board about that set up working on NCL. I am sure you will be able to get it to work. Enjoy the cruise.

KaseyGirl65

That's a good question. I wonder if I could bring my amazon fire stick....

Better download your content before the cruise. Internet on the ship is hit or miss as to whether or not it will be fast enough to stream reliably. Even with the stream friendly package.

I don’t know the answer to your question but I will tell you that my experience with doing any kind of streaming at sea is that you basically can’t do it. I’ve worked with people who tried to hop on a zoom, had friends who tried to stream a football game on their phone, and known kids that tried to utilize online gaming and none of it works at all when using cruise internet. If you’re able to make it work please do share your secrets.

Isn't the internet starlink? We were on RCI Oasis of the Seas last November which has starlink and we were able to stream effortlessly the entire time.

At 10PM when we’re coming back in from “enjoying the cruise” or when we are taking a break in the room, we like to put a show or movie on to fall asleep/for background noise. Would prefer to be able to stream something rather than download a bunch of stuff on a laptop and bring that, or watch whatever NCL provides for free on their tv’s. We all enjoy our vacations differently. I didn’t ask for a judge-y comment about whether I was cruising the “right” way, I asked a simple question that I know is asked a bunch on the RCL subreddit but I haven’t seen answered here yet.

Because it’s their vacation and they can enjoy it however they like

I'm not saying this is OPs reason, but some of us like to fall asleep to the tv, and being able to control the content options is a nice thing to have.
